My go to recommendation would be Riccia. I grow it in everything from terrariums to aquariums. Kept under proper light it stays really low to the substrate.
Here are a couple photos of it taking over a former jarrarium. https://cloudup.com/cnrp6w7Yo8b
It's basically 2 of these and I sawed the second one to length.
Yeah I did actually. I simply ordered a usb powered cabinate fan from Amazon and used fishing line to attach it to the top. Here's a link - https://www.amazon.com/AC-Infinity-MULTIFAN-Receiver-Playstation/dp/B00G059G86
oh I can help!!!! this stuff right here is a miracle worker for fungus gnats and it's plant/animal safe.
Why not just plug it into a separate timer or smart outlet ?
Haha yea my first hygrometer (an analog dial-style one from the local pet shop for $10 or so) didn't last long either - though I think it was fairly accurate. It also ended up being a perfect trap for one of the species of beetle in my tank - I had to shake a few of them out daily lol.
This is what I got to replace it, and so far, so good! Can't argue with the price lol: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B082HDBYNZ?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details
And just some further info in case it helps, what I did to lower my humidity was add a couple tiny fans to circulate air through the lid (took some diy-crafting) - one directs air in, the other directs air out. They cycle about 3 cfm through my 20-gallon tank. Originally I just left a two-inch gap in the top of my tank and that kept the humidity around 70%, but then stuff started to emerge and fly around and I had to figure out how to seal it lol. I mist my plants with a spritzer every morning.
Hahah, yes! It's just a crappy wifi live stream security cam so I can check in on him from anywhere. It's cheap, but it does what I wanted it for. But I'm thinking I might upgrade him to a webcam with a link to that I can share.
I have been running these on all my planter aquariums and they do a good job. Come in multiple sizes as well

Leaf litter for sure. Maybe plant some Creeping Ficus along the background that will eventually grow up and fill out the background with a lush green
You can get a great RO water unit on Amazon for <$100. Liquigen RO
I know fog isn’t the ideal for crested geckos, but I find my fogger works really well to keep my tank within a healthy humidity range.
I got this coospider large reptile fogger and this inkbird humidity controller IHC200 which I set to turn on the fogger when humidity drops to 50 and stay on until it hits 80. Then when humidity hits 80 it will turn off until it goes down to 50 again. My tank keeps at a nice range of 55 to 75% humidity. It’ll go off maybe once every few hours and allows the tank to dry out a bit too which is supposed to be good.
I mist with a big 1gal pump sprayer once a week just to add some extra moisture which keeps the fogger reservoir from running out too fast too.

I understand it’s expensive but it’s better than a monsoon and on par with mist king which i’ve also got.
Grabbing a bearded dragon out of their temporary homes to transfer into the dragons cage is always awkward and gross because of the odor and bug dirts until I foundthis funny gadget in amazon.

Also, I know you aren’t asking about food, but I have a super easy and cost effective way to give them variety. Works really well for animals that don’t eat very much at one time, like hissers and hermit crabs. Get a few jars of different kinds of baby food (experiment to see what they like, the hisser I fostered loved plain chicken and a kale/spinach/apple blend best). Scoop the food into mini ice cube trays (link below for the kind I usemini ice cube trays) and freeze them. Then pop out the little cubes, stick them in a ziplock bag with a label of what kind it is, and keep them in the freezer. Then you just take a few little cubes out at a time and let them thaw to feed them. You can keep a wide variety of foods in rotation this way and each jar of food lasts so long!
We have this same one for our crested gecko.
I was able to repair mine with something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Swpeet-Quality-Furniture-Cabinets-Entertainment/dp/B07FFPQ16Y/
I just used a hot glue gun nozzle heated tip to melt the plastic of the door enough to push one of these metal things in place where the broken-off black plastic bit was, and then added a bit of hot glue to keep it in. works fine now.
It might be time to do a bit of a revamp of your plugs? I got a bunch of these smart plugs (about $5 each) and it really helped, along with a few power boards. It's too hard to explain all the features of the plugs but you can get really creative using the different features and essentially have any combination of 'switch on' time and 'switch off' time. For my misting cycle, I don't use the timer on the misting unit (I have it switched to the mode whereby so long as it's powered, it will run, and the smart plug controls when it's powered). It enabled me to set up a schedule that's a bit heavier in frequency and duration in the mornings pre-lights on, with a couple of lighter showers during the day, and none at night.
sure. have you kept reptiles or amphibians?? this is very common in the community. i would hope you used this or something similar when cleaning to prevent bacterial growth…
While I haven't tried theses tables, I would not. Each table has a max load of 44lbs. I'd shoot for a wire shelving unit or heavy duty slotted shelving.
I recently bought 3 4'x2'x14" Boamaster PVC enclosures and have them stacked on a rack like this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01D54S68A
I have almost the exact sized setup. This is what I got and everybody seems to be doing fine. Substrate level has Anthurium, jewel orchids (Ludisia), Selanginella, some crystal wort (Riccia fluitans) in the water feature.

A light like This would be perfect, it’s good quality and the spectrum is good. IMO a a spotlight would be way too bright for a tank only 18” tall.
Hey, I just found this light if you are still looking. https://www.amazon.com/AQUASKY-Fluval-Bluetooth-Aquarium-Light/dp/B07BBSRDPL It is fully programmable and adjustable. You can set sunrise/sunset, dawn/dusk settings. You can fully customize the color of the lights and even simulate lightning.
Not at all! Happy to help, though my own experience is pretty limited too!
When you say black material, do you mean the housing column he sometimes builds for his pumps and such? I’m not sure exactly what it’s called, I believe it actually is PVC board. I’m in Korea same as the guy so I was able to get the same stuff, it’s definitely stiffer than foam board and the description does say it’s pvc based. It’s actually not as easy to cut as he makes it seem in his videos!
There’s also the black sponge which is just a black aquarium sponge, like this
The cork i used came in a tube shape and i broke it into smaller pieces to make it look rough. I think next time though I’ll purchase it in board form and break that up.
Hope that helps, good luck!
Thank you so much!! I got the plants in a pack off amazon, i was also surprised that the quality was so nice! Heres the link if you wanna check em out, good price too! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07FMVMBNX?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Agree with the suggestions of a CPU fan. E.g. here, it's cheap and you can adjust the power level. You could even put it on a timer if you don't want it 24/7, though I think you could find a fan speed that can be left on 24/7. As said by others, you'll also need a ventilation hole (or holes). And get some springtails as suggested, they'll eat mold away.
Check online for silicone used to make aquariums.
This came up on my Amazon search in Canada. Buying at a hardware store you're kind taking your chances - I've done it everything seems fine but if I was really concerned aim for the stuff to build aquariums.
I was thinking about that after I commented. There's a good chance they may ever properly root if the toads are burrowing all the time or the substrate is quite loose. They grow so slow.
I won't matter though, the mondo grasses can just sit around indefinitely with roots exposed if they get dug up - as long they stay humid. The roots are quite tough and look like this
I landscape and I've forgotten about them in a damp bucket at work for weeks and nothing phases them (very shade tolerant as well).
I've never tried submerging them if that's your plan but I know the roots can definitely tolerate lots of water from my aquarium experiment.
I use two of these, my plants grow like crazy.

EDIT: I just whipped up a quick vid so you can see what I’m talking about. The very front has a little screen ventilation, but you can really see the humidity in this tank haha.
You might check out the auto section at home Depot. They have weather stripping for cars that might work. You can also look at sweeps for shower doors? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ZVNJI4K/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_6CM32PR26G1JNV70YBHY?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Idk mine just bred really fast on their own. I also feed them vegetable scraps, but not too much at a time or you'll get mold. They also really like to eat shed snake skin and waste which is why they do so well in bioactive reptile enclosures. You can also feed them a little bit of fish food once in a while too, it will provide them with additional protein and nutrients they need because as crustaceans, they're nutritional needs are very similar to aquarium animals like fish and shrimp. And they even sell premade isopod food mixes 😄 (I've never tried it, but it has good reviews)

Will do. I might try something like this SHT30 first, since they are pretty cheap. I'll let you know how it goes.
I ordered these(https://www.amazon.com/ANVISION-Bearing-Brushless-Cooling-YDM4010B05/dp/B074YJH3P9/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=fan+40+40+usb&qid=1630995212&sr=8-3) and they seem to be working fine. However I don't know how they would work on bigger setups.
Good grief, the Zoomed website is just a mess :(
Anyhoo, I would probably get one of their canopies that fit your tank. For bulbs I like Sunblaster bulbs. Made for plants. Though your typical terrarium plant is fine with most any light - but something in the 6400K colour temp will look most natural. I notice Sunblaster carry lots of LED now as well which might be the way to go. I tend to stick to fluorescent since I like the colour better but LED are getting better every year.
I also use just ordinary Phillips 'daylight - 6500K' CFL bulbs on my terrariums and the plants grow like crazy. They come in a really compact form that was good for small spaces.
One of these https://www.amazon.com/Spectrum-Replace-Flowers-Greenhouse-Hydroponic/dp/B08GK8BT6Y?pd_rd_w=Kjs4n&pf_rd_p=f8048a1b-0abf-4d1a-a91b-cb558d45ad96&pf_rd_r=898EGXHN9A7TND9S8DBY&pd_rd_r=7e5b9e49-c84a-4d61-973e-037eb1467e6a&pd_rd_wg=kUeSY... in a repurposed plastic planter lol. I have a second lamp up there with no bulb in it for now, but I plan to put a full spectrum plant bulb in it or possibly a UVB if needed. I’m undecided if UVB is necessary. The room it’s in gets a decent amount of natural light
1000 lumens is pretty dang bright. Depending on the quality of the reflector, if you were to sit this right on top of the enclosure you're likely to get a triangle shaped column of light, meaning your upper corners will be pretty dark.
You'd be better served with an LED bar meant for planted freshwater tanks at a probably similar if not much worse price point. I'm partial to these which have a built in timer / night light/ can be adjusted in terms of brightness and have a sun up / sun down function.
here ya go also, this thing does a pretty good job of warming the terrarium. I have it attached to a dimming plug to control the light and heat output.
Not unless you want to research the toxicity and be ready to buy at least 8 of those bc you want the false bottom to be 2 inches. Seriously just buy this
Thanks, I'm interested in looking at this option. Is this the Inkbird model you use?
If all goes well, I'd love to add orchids to my viv, too.

I have a 18x18x24 habitat. I'm looking at this compact top with two bulbs. Do you think it would be enough to screw in one UVB and one LED on either side? Or I may buy two of these single-bulb variations. That way, I can position the LED light closer to the back where more plants may be, and the UVB more towards the center.
Look into BN-LINK for all your automation needs. They have timers, thermostats, hygrostats, they have the entire market on those sorts of things with the best price and consistent quality. For a heater and light, I use their independently programmable dual socket timer (you may want to get a tiny extension cord like 8" since the timer can block outlets on strips and wall sockets, make sure any cord you buy is ~13-15A 120V rated). Set one of the outlets for the light, into the other timer connect a thermostat (again I recommend BN-LINK). Connect the thermostat to the heater, place the temp probe into the tank, and you're done.
Fully automated, never have to worry about it getting to hot/cold (when the thermostat is on) or forgetting to turn the lights on/off. Pretty much all of BN-LINK's controllers are ~$10-20 which is a small price to pay for convenience. Make sure you pay attention to wattage ratings though, most of their stuff is good 1725W rated but some things are lower ~1000W. Recommended to keep the rating of your system 10-20% higher than the max wattage of your system.
For the cost of your lights and all that, I run several hundred watts of LEDs for 16 hours a day, it adds less than $10 a month to my electricity bill. I don't use a TV or air conditioner though, so my electric bill is really low either way.

something like this:
also, i don't know a lot about darts, but that seems like an awful lot of vertical space and not a lot of ground area for darts. i have 3 starry night reed frogs in a 12x12x18 exo terra, and it works for them because they sit on the foliage.
Hi there. You can buy rare earth magnets on Amazon. I suggest coin shaped, about two U.S. quarters thick. This could work. You’ll want at least two magnets on each item. Keep in mind, the further the branch pushes into the Viv the more leverage is placed on the base, so maybe design flared bases. I just bought this off Etsy. if you diy, make sure the magnets have a grippy coating. You can super glue magnets to the ledge and super glue a letex sheet to the magnet.

it has mixed reviews but i was having the same problem as you so i just said screw it but it arrived looking fine so i got lucky
are you using a regular dome to house it in or a wire lamp frame like this? Ceramic bulbs are not made to be used in regular domes as they will overheat/burn out the socket in them (fire hazard too). If you smell burning, that's because something is burning.
Depending on the size of the enclosure will depend on the mist nozzle coverage. I have one pump for a dart frog viv and uses three nozzles, it is a 36x24x24. I also have one pump for two Chameleon set ups for my wife which are 4' X 4" x 3" with 4 nozzles each but does not require such high humidity.
I would say Mistking is the way to go. A little expensive but worth the money. https://www.joshsfrogs.com/mistking-starter-misting-system.html
Beamswork makes this 30watt 6500k 24” led that I think would work great on your tank, and it would be cheaper than 2 jungle dawns.
People in the hobby really love their jungle dawns and LEDs last quite a long time, I’m not sure on the exact lifetime of the jungle dawns though. I use a 48” beamswork 6500k that seems to be working great
