I have twelve bottles that I can swap out depending on what I want to compare.
I can take the humidor out, put some foam in and carry 6 glasses OR two more 375ml bottles.
I’m going to try it out for awhile to make sure I don’t want changes, and then seal the foam with plasti-dipt spray.
The case is an Apache 4800 from Harbor freight.
Right now, I have Four Roses, Four Roses Single Barrel, Four Roses Small Batch, Elijah Craig, and Woodford Reserve to put in it.
I'm new to Bourbon but with retirement coming in the next few years, I'm looking forward to camping more and being able to sit a few times a week and savor a stick and a drink.
As you can see this is an older bottle of Scotch, bottled in 2004. The cork broke on me and this opener worked like a charm to extract the broken piece from the neck. Came out clean without a single piece of cork falling in. I've only had to use this thing a few times, but it's real nice to have when you need it. This one is the Ah So wine opener, comes in a nice little case and everything: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0774XBXN6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Furthermore, keep those corks. I have a big old bag of corks collected from every bottle I've killed, I was able to find a replacement no problem.
Actually, take a look at the menu HERE, especially the last page.

Kind of shot glass sized. They screw on the top of the bottle. I've only had a couple of bottles. I'm in the UK, not sure if it's the same everywhere else

Baby life hack. Most people only look up single item skews on Amazon. But if your willing, and can afford to stock up a bit, multipack skews are still fairly readily available.

it is a bit shocking how the shape concentrates the vapors into a jet like blast when you tilt it towards your mouth holes. different whiskey drinking experience imho

Found this gem on Amazon.
O&K FURNITURE Industrial Bar Serving Cart, Kitchen Storage Cart, 2-Tier Rectangular Rolling Bar Cart for Home Kitchen, Vintage Brown, 31.5”W x 16”D x 32”H, (1-PC) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07YBXF7HP/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_718ZJF441KGTN1RBQWPS?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
If you are referring to the bar cart itself, I got this one off of Amazon. It is solid wood and good quality but annoying to put together since there were no pre drilled holes

sexy. i have the same one!...plus two glasses :) Amazon
They're just two oz sample bottles that people on reddit used to use for swapping samples (now against reddit TOS). Since whiskeys/brandies keep, I like to have samples of them so when I drink the rest of the bottle I have extras just in case. Especially some of the allocated stuff it makes sure I have a nice pour for a rainy day.
My favorite ramen is Shin Red: https://www.amazon.com/NongShim-Ramyun-Noodle-Gourmet-Spicy/dp/B00778B90S?th=1
Add some lime juice and some fresh veggies/meat during or after the boil and it's magic.
My vote would be a fine mesh cocktail strainer. That will catch the large chunks, without absorbing any liquid, and it certainly isn’t fine enough to “filter” the whisky.
Nice cabinets!
I've been contemplating a similar dilemma: either you waste space, or you can't see what's behind the front row. Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/YouCopia-StoreMore-Adjustable-Organizer-17-Inches/dp/B01MXOG5Y3/ would help if there's enough room, but I haven't found anything really usable for standard shelving.
Not as bad as it looks. We just fill standardized 2oz bottles with whisky and send them in the mail in exchange for other 2oz bottles of whisky. People just use different labels to identify the sample is all.
If you really want to crush the best Manhattan, get yourself a jar of Amarena cherries cherries. So much better than standard red food dye cherry.
I get these
It is a cut crystal glencairn. Got it as a gift, which is wonderful. It is pricey (~$50), so I would have never purchased it for myself, but a hell of a gift. Love how it looks.
Hmm, tough question as I just got the Pinot Noir an hour ago, versus the fact I am on to my second bottle of Longrow Red Port. Keep in mind I have a love of port maturation and finishes, my rankings would be as follows:
The appeal is for very different reasons. The Port is pure, unadulterated port and whisky in high intensity. The Pinot Noir the classic cambeltown flavors show through, with a nice complement from the wine cask aging. The Shiraz I think is the thinnest of the bunch.
Glencairn was a present, I would not buy one for myself, but it was a hell of a gift. The glencairn weighs almost 7oz. It came from Amazon - http://www.amazon.com/Glencairn-Official-Crystal-Scotch-Tasting/dp/B00IL8KGDO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1454981427&sr=8-1&keywords=crystal+glencairn
These things are great for wine as well.
good ingredients. if you want to take it up a notch, upgrade your ice game
Actually it's not about filling the bottle up with something other than oxygen, it actually works in a completely different (and for a physicist, fascinating) way.
The can contains a mixture of argon and other inert gasses that are much heavier than air or pure oxygen. So when you spray them into the bottle, the mixture sits on top of the whisky, creating a barrier between it and the oxygen in the bottle. So instead of filling up the entire bottle with the mixture, you only need a couple of squirts to create that barrier between the whisky and air.
This is the stuff I've used, good for 200 uses or something ridiculous due to the fact you need such a small amount.
