Needs both, the probe needs to be plugged into the x360 usb pro v2 then is plugged into your pc via usb cable. The x360 usb pro v2 will need a power source I recommend a molex power adapter. Molex Power Source
The usb pro v2 receives external power from a SATA port power connector luckily x360 usb pro v2 comes with a molex to SATA adapter so no need to purchase that.
So all you’ll need is the Probe, x360 USB PRO V2 and Molex power supply.
I think most people probably use 26awg. Colors can help you keep track of what you are doing but isn't necessary. At most people might use red or yellow to indicate power carrying wires and black for ground. But it's unnecessary. Sometimes you want a thicker 24awg for ground or power but in Xbox mods that's also not necessary
Some people like things like this, https://www.amazon.com/PCAccessories-Connectors-Rainbow-Ribbon-30P-10FT/dp/B08X6TYGTF/ref=mp_s_a_1_1_sspa
Other people use old USB cables they have laying around
Other people buy fancy stuff. Its ready a personal preference
Regarding wire strippers i don't have a specific recommendation. Just get something with small awg support
Use a fiberglass scratcher pen to remove the solder mask surrounding the pad/via. Something like this one:
https://www.amazon.com/Fiberglass-Scratch-Brush-Pen-applications/dp/B07S3RCTGZ
There are many other listings on Amazon and at other online sites.
Did a quick look into replacement capacitors - would something like this be suitable https://www.amazon.co.uk/330uF-Aluminium-Electrolytic-Radial-Capacitor/dp/B00DP219HS/ref=sr_1_3?crid=17UTCK84PXYS3&keywords=CAP+ALUM+3300UF+20%25+6.3V+RADIAL&qid=1661898695&sprefix=cap+alum+3300uf+20%25+6.3v+radial%2Caps%2C42&sr=8-3 ?
Most of the recommendations I've found have been hard to ship to the UK.
Use FATXplorer to transfer the files from the PC and see if they register on the xbox. If not it might just be the flash drive. These work:
Ebamaz USB Flash Drives 2.0 Metal Key Pack of 5 Colors (128MB,Not GB,Smaller Than 1GB,Blank) https://smile.amazon.co.uk/dp/B077XV9M47/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_Q4Z3DX9AXEMGZSKJV416
This is Amazon UK but I've been informed they're available on Amazon US and Amazon Germany too.
So basically every hdd will virtually work(?) Like this one https://www.amazon.it/dp/B002P3KO7O/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_SZDFKKH67MBF9BTAKWZP Just buy it, swap and boot hexen and so the hdd utilities and done, or do i need some sort of adapters(?)
That’s a lot of work. Why not buy a step up converter. Step Up and Down Converter-100 Watt Voltage Converter Transformer w/ USB Charging Port, UK Power Adapter, AC 110/120 to 220/240 Volt Vice Versa, 110V/120V/220V/240V Input Voltage-Pyle PVTC120U, Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00EEJZQ5W/ref=cm_sw_r_awdo_QXV69CN40CF1JQQ3AJE0
Won’t fit, they slightly changed the layout of how it snaps on, I picked up some new ones on Amazon (Battery Cover for Xbox Core Controller, Universal Replacement Battery Back Door Lid for Xbox Series X & Wireless Controller Black White, 4Pcs Batteries Caps Shell Repair Part for Xbox Series S Remote https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08Y8WXP92/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_JATDSBYM73P7EQY026ZA)
Would be great if you could but there's not enough space to fit everything that needed onto it unfortunately. Rocky5's update can fit onto it (it's what I've used) but not the full soft-modding tool + exploit. The 128mb version of the following link is a USB that works though (what I use), you'll need an adapter too however. I've been advised that these are available on Amazon US and DE as well as UK.
Ebamaz USB Flash Drives 2.0 Metal Key Pack of 5 Colors (128MB,Not GB,Smaller Than 1GB,Blank) https://smile.amazon.co.uk/dp/B077XV9M47/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_P1N2SEJKE80M776MDZFS?psc=1
Key things you will want to learn ASAP,

This dashboard is showing you the IP address the console has, (atm nothing) Because you can connect to it remotely to transfer games / roms onto it using FTP.
If you have never used an FTP client, I can recommend WinSCP https://winscp.net/eng/index.php
.XBE files are generally the xbox equivalent to .exe's on windows, standing for XBox Executable.

XBMC (XBox Media Centre) is a great little media player + file manager, now known as Kodi for raspberry PI or Home Theatre PC's.
What about this one? Seems to be a newer model
Western Digital 2TB WD Blue PC Hard Drive HDD - 5400 RPM, SATA 6 Gb/s, 256 MB Cache, 3.5" - WD20EZAZ https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07JC1TQ7N/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_8FWAR3PMHM7ZVDVJ0PQR
Not sure if the 16gb SanDisk cruizer works or not but do know that these 128mb ones from Ebamaz do: https://smile.amazon.co.uk/dp/B077XV9M47/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_YG7W187BWAJ9554AX2PY
Also available from Amazon US and Amazon DE I've been advised. Used these myself and still do when need to and have recommended in r/originalxbox with positive feedback. Hope you get it sorted.
You will have to boot a different supported BIOS and install the BIOS patcher to run before your dashboard. It will then patch the in memory BIOS with the hooks to use the driveimagetools v1.0.1 disc image attach (default.xbe) saves on s folder along side the XISO (.iso) disc image.
The package of tools is here.
Connect the Xbox to your home network, run an FTP client such as Filezilla or WinSCP on your PC to connect to XBMC's FTP server to download files from the console.
Connect to the IP address of the Xbox. Login credentials to connect to the FTP server are username - xbox and password - xbox. Username and password are case-sensitive.
Would this be the converter?
Also, I am just now breaking into using Chimp. I'm doing a lot of research since this is kind of a big endeavor since the system was already modded. I'm on the paranoid side until I can back up my eeprom. I'm holding off on doing anything else until I can ensure that it is backed up.
That also raises a question. Would I be able to simply back up the eeprom through FTP from the Xbox to my PC? If so, that'd help since the new HDD and the sata adapter will be here tomorrow.
Thanks for your help.
Here is the female usb adapted I used for the softmod.

The thumb drive I used

Go to ebay and find an exploit game. You can google those. I used 007: Agent Under Fire. You can find it cheap on ebay.
you wont have ftp access until you are softmodded (the aftermarket dashboard is what gives you ftp access on a softmod). its possible to make your own usb but im pretty sure amazon has wires. I went the route of installing a usb female into one of my controller's by soldering the wires to the memory card connection (there are guides online)
Want a tip? Soldering that flash is very, very delicate and you could risk breaking the whole thing.
Luckily, some conductive paint and a toothpick does the job just as well, with no risk.

I got this one. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZT5HGM5/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_CJ08YQEPFMPCH888WE88
As for the XBox HDMI I think I am going to wait for Black technology to finish. They'll have 1080P. They're doing it for the N64 and PS2 also.
I've had a look on Amazon and can see lots of headsets like this but reviews are mixed.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07PP21ZJJ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_3VDT93H8VVWMWVWM99GS
Is this something you use or is there better alternatives for electronics/and work?
I've looked on website for xboxhdmi but it's sold out right now. I'm in UK so not sure if there is an EU distributor. Guess I'll just have to keep an eye on the page for new stock.
I used to have one similar to this in a wish list on amazon but it might have gotten discontinued. Not usb tho

You can't use a flashdrive higher than 4 gigs.
You can always use an old iPod or PSP if you have them, or order these when they Are back in stock. https://www.chimericsystems.com/product/xbox-compatible-usb-drive/
Or buy the four gig version of this - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002U213Y8?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
