if you've got a WiFi modem from NWTel, get one with only a single ethernet port - then go buy yourself a high quality (usually gaming oriented) router with a handfull of ethernet ports and WiFi 6. Far more configurable and manageable and the best ones will support VPN sites.
Do check out ProtonVPN.
I would second a booster, but don't get one based on batteries that are commonly available. They're worthless in the cold we have up here. I'd recommend something like this that can pull power from a "dead" battery and then blast it out. Alternatively, you can also pre-charge it via USB, DC, etc.
I disagree with people that say winter isn't a great time to do the trip. To me, it's the best time. It sucks with the virus stuff going on, but the wildlife are super active in the winter because there's less vehicles.
Hey you actually can get lots of things shipped from Amazon, nothing crazy high quality but good enough for a start.

That's a good bar from CAP.
Also Canadian Tire does sell a 2 inch 7 foot bar. Sometimes a little hard to find but it usually comes with 100 pounds of weight plus the bar for a decent price.
The dumb bells there are alright quality as well, the benches are pretty meh though. But they have a pretty good squat rack combo deal that comes with an adjustable bench.
