Some great points, thanks for filling in the details and i completely agree that the real untapped value is in ZenSys...though i still find ZenCash interesting :-)
Recommend checking out our current roadmap: https://trello.com/b/C0L7hGCV/development-roadmap
But big picture the standout features for our project are our secure node network which integrates TLS for client-node encryption, R&D for protocol-level voting system, the world's most secure messaging system using zk-SNARKs, we're spec'ing out our own version of a distributed file storage system akin to IPFS (ZenPub), we have a superior and sustainable incremental funding model, and plenty of other cool stuff in the pipeline...
that said, we're still an early stage experiment, so don't want to hype things before we actually deliver. Happy to see the interest and hope this provides a little glimpse into why i'm so excited for the project.
Definitely want to consider scaling now before it becomes an issue. We're investigating a range of options with an R&D team (more details next livestream), most interesting solution looking like a DAG akin to IOTA called SPECTRE:
I recognize myself perfectly in what you have just said. I remember the good old days, with 1 Zen / day per rx570 :)
Since May 9th, no official informations concerning asic were given. But i keep hope in this team, which often work in submarine. According to their updated Trello 27, they are working on, so ..
correct, we lumped core allocation into DAO for better visibility, but until we have either complete protocol-level treasury (R&D to start soon) or something like this: https://trello.com/c/Y1YJsJ0c/43-project-radical-transparency
we're always dependent on humans in the loop...need to ultimately do away with that.
Yeah there isn't really any transparency on how treasury funds are spent currently, although I believe I remember hearing somewhere that they are working on a website that would display this info which can be found on the trello roadmap but I'm not sure if this is just for when the DAO is implemented or will be available beforehand.
According to the original whitepaper only 3.5% actually goes towards developer salaries, the other 6.5% I assume is what goes towards the other things like exchanges, marketing & expanding dev team.
Once the DAO is implemented everything will be completely public such as funds available and what is spent on what. Rob confirms this in this video
I would recommend watching the latest bi-weekly ZenCash update (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V2QAiFBklQk&t=990s).
Some of the things 2018 is expected to bring to ZenCash are fully functional secure nodes network, a brand revamp, additional exchange integrations, wallet improvements and hardware wallet functionality, an awesome project called “radical transparency” and governance system redesign. Also worth keeping an eye on is the research and possible implementations of distributed file storage and scaling solutions.

The most committed members of the community are truly restless and showing a passion for taking this project further. No doubt Zen community will see exciting developments in the months and years ahead!
Heres what people thought a few months ago: https://www.strawpoll.me/15518353/r
Slightly different since poll asked for number at the end of the first month but alas.
I expect about 500 on day 1.
What are you using to generate the paper wallet? (https://zenpaperwallet.com, https://coinomi.com/recovery-phrase-tool.html?)
You should basically get two keys. The public ine that you mine to, send to others, etc, and private that you can print/transcribe/etc, and only use when you want to redeem the coins.
I haven't checked whether zenpaperwallet.com is legit, but for any paper wallet generator you can often download and run the generator on an offline PC. (Like the coinomi one)
This is probably true. Things might happen in 2018 but so far they seem to be organizing their work internally and focusing on wallets and secure nodes. Given how long it takes to implement secure nodes, I don't expect anything major before Q2 2018, IF they have the right team working on the project, from core to wallets. So far it's really difficult to know who's actively working on it, as there is no public IRC / Discord channel for development and the "team" page is far from clear.
Their page on trello: https://trello.com/b/C0L7hGCV/development-roadmap - seems to tell that they are focused on client / server stuff and wallets. Exiting news of implementations of the white-paper at the protocol level might not be before several months if no more.
Maybe we'll have more information when they'll release their new website?
I'm not sure how Nicehash buying and selling hashpower works, but it looks like they have about 110MSol/s of equihash hashpower available. So if they switch to zencash mining on a low difficulty that could explain this situation. https://www.nicehash.com/marketplace/equihash
I don't understand however how it's not reflected in net hash rate. Maybe net hash rate is not live data, but average?
Completely agree, which is why it's so awesome we're not integrated into CoinPayments! Thanks for the support. Latest news is that Torguard now accepts ZenCash for VPN, proxy, and anonymous e-mail services.
