Owner of two fluffy plant murderers myself. I got floating shelves on Amazon that I was able to put up near a window, but high and far enough away from potential launch points that they won't try to jump up. Of course this will depend on whether you want holes in the wall and the determination of your little one, but it's worked well for me so far!
The shelf is actually large enough to hold quite a few

Why not try something like this
It is cheap and wont fry your plants bc leds dont emit the kind of heat other lights emit so you dont have to worry about distance from plants. Also you can time 3 6 12 hrs with red or blue or red and blue light on to promote diff. kinds of growth. If you dont like it you can always return with amazon : ). I personally love these.
These look close. But with Amazon it could be one of a dozen sellers.

You can get them on Amazon Umbra Prisma Wall Decor (Set of 6) – Metal Wall Art/Modern Wall Decor - Converts from Table Top to Hanging Decor, Copper https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B010XGBLEE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_D-FYCb6ZSQHDG

I got this on amazon. It fits perfectly even on small windowsills. All I did was get some sand to fill it in and topped it off with some river rocks and used some sea shells for them to sit on top of. :) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XZNVSF3/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_0GD-zbJFDW09F
It was an amazon purchase. Not a bad price, and the wire itself is strong enough to hold even my Xero, but it's still very malleable. Just make sure it's the 12 gauge. 14 and thinner is too weak to hold your plants over time.
Here's the link to what I bought
One roll wrapped ALL of the plants you see wrapped in my pictures. I just bought more for my new babies
I buy cute little animal planters from Amazon for my succulents, and if they don't have drainage holes then I use them for my air plants instead. I just got this bunny and it works really well for tall air plants!
I got this bluetooth thermometer+hygrometer, as it was relatively inexpensive (considering the benefits, $26 seems reasonable to me), and had better features than other wireless temp/humidity sensors on Amazon.

The graph shows the temp. and humidity for the past week. Some notable datapoints:

Anyway, hope someone finds this useful! May the tillandsia addiction continue to grow 👍

That's actually pretty brilliant. You could cut one in 1/2 and tie it with some fishing wire.
10 for $7 there.
Happy to! Got these lights from Amazon as well!

Just some cheap white strips from amazon, similar to these. They're not grow lights, but I'm only using them to supplement natural light so I'm not bothered by the lower amount of "usable" light compared to true grow lights.
It's a little hard to tell from your pictures, but it looks like all the new growth is nice and green. The brown tips/leaves look like they're attached to the older growth, so I would guess that the dried leaves are just age as opposed to something you're doing wrong. Those are going to gradually dry up and die off anyway. You can snip the dry tips off if you want, they won't go back to being green no matter how much you soak them.
If you're in a basement without decent light, you definitely want to supplement. I bought these on the suggestion of someone else here and they are AWESOME. I have had them for over a year and they still work like new, no problems at all. Previously, I had some of those other cheaper lights on amazon - the ones with the flexible necks that change from red to blue to purple. They are awful. Not worth the money. The plugs got dangerously hot and the switch that changed between modes stopped working after like a week.
Lastly, if you don't already, get a fan set up in the room where your plants are. Stagnant air can also kill your airplants, so it helps to have a floor fan or a ceiling fan to keep the air moving.
I've lost more plants to not enough light or not enough airflow than to water issues. Soaking your xero is fine as long as you dry it upside down. If your plants aren't getting enough light, I got these lights last year and they are awesome.
Barrina T5 Grow Lights, Full Spectrum, 2ft 40W (4 x 10W, 500W Equivalent), LED Grow Light Bulbs, Plant Lights for Indoor Plants, Greenhouse, Plug and Play, 4-Pack
You can connect all the lights together so you can have them all on one switch or multiple and they are able to turn off independently the wires to connect them are a little sort so you might want to get longer connecting wires which I will link with the lights.
I keep all my plants pretty close best to be at least 6 inches but dont have the lights touch the light I have seen burning on some leaves when that happens

From the sound of it, you just need a little more light and maybe some airflow. Set up a fan in your room and get some grow lights. Someone recommended these to me when I was having a similar sounding problem and they are AWESOME. I even got some timers for them and it's been great.
These fairy lights are water resistant but the amazon listing does say to protect the battery pack from water. Maybe put some tape around it or something? It's quite easy to remove the lights so you could just take them off when the plant needs misting, though. 😊 You can find them here.
Having done a looooot of plants with watercolour I decided to try a new style, this time inspired by the great Van Gogh! I thought it was really fun and will try other styles aswell in the future, so please come with suggestions!
And as a starving artist trying to make some ends meet, please endulge me in a shameless plug if you'd like it on a tshirt, if you'd like a print/sticker DM me:

Ok so on here a while back someone recommended these: Monios-L T8 LED Grow Light 2FT,... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QFPBQDR?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
They don't get so hot they melt anything and have done a great job keeping the sun loving indoor plants happy. I have one inside my dark af bedroom that keeps two raphidora tetrasperma growing like weeds. They are easy to set up, but they do need to be mounted or hung. You get six lights and everything you need to mount them how you like. Great deal and in the four months I've been using them they've drastically improved the health of my indoor plants.
Hey! This time I did the monstera in a popart/andy warhole style! I thought I would post it after the great response to the minimalist version I did earlier! If anyone is interested in a print/other stuff DM me!

I got this bulb along with a ceiling spotlight fixture.

I got these bc they were so inexpensive. They're small, like the size of a small matchbox. But I can put them in the several areas of my house where I have a lot of plants so I can keep track.
And I've ordered a couple small travel humidifiers (don't have them yet so can't recommend yet) that I will use and move around as needed.

Google lens never disappoints & of course available via the evil empire. All other retailers sold out (that I saw) upon closer reading these come with plants glued in them but similar products available around listing..
I am far from an expert, but I've had several tillies under pink LED strip lights from amazon. The longest any plants have been under the lights is about a month and a half. They seem to be doing okay so far. Here's a fairly craptastic photo of my set up: pink light plants
Not OP, but I got mine from amazon. Here’s the link. It looks just like it does in the picture, and you can bend the wires to adjust where you want your plant to go:)
I was hoping to find a way to put like a light strip along the wall behind the plants there where the curtain rod is. There is an outlet under there that is behind the couch so I can secure it away from the kids and cats. I looked around briefly on Amazon and it looks like a lot of the lights are blue/red and I was wondering if that actually made a difference or if I was just an idiot.

for example: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QHYKZQF/ref=psdc_14252941_t2_B07PKQ5ZGR

how do you determine the wattage needed? Do I need to follow the daytime/nighttime schedule of leaving it on all the time? It would be nice to have it running overnight while we aren't in the room. Plus the blue/pink would look awesome with my pc tower's led's (jussayin :P)
These are what I use two of each about 15hrs a day. I wouldn't order the second from amazon, the lights ate great but amazon messed it up twice when I tried ordering another. These have put my plants through flower and they all seem to love them.

And yes, I do 2hrs/day with this on, it's very bright, but it doesn't produce heat so i'm not burning the plants. I tried the four hour option a couple times and it didn't seem to make much of a difference other than using up a whole charge on my rechargable battery. They get very little natural light as I have them in my bedroom and it's quite dark in there, southern windows only.
I really couldn't believe how much of a difference the UV made, within a couple days they were a gorgeous dark green and they started growing like crazy. My tillandansia butzii have almost doubled in size in just a couple weeks and my xerographica is sprouting new leaves from the center and her tendrils are going nuts.
Other than that, I mist them when they feel a little dry to me. I kind of pinch their leaves/tendrils and if they feel like they're full of water, plump and a little "tight", I leave them be. Otherwise if they feel a little skinny or dry on the tips, I give them a good mist. They get an hour long bath once a week and then dry upside down on a baking rack over a towel. The xerographica and my tectorum tend to need a little more attention than the others, and i'm considering giving them both a 20 minute mid week dunk rather than just extra misting. I'll report back if I change routine.
Thank you!! So I found the link but it was out of stock. Last I check it was OOS until October but now it says that it may not be back in stock. I was tempted to get this one from Lowe’s
My husband never soaks them like so many tell you to do. He keeps them in the bathroom (somewhat higher humidity...especially once a day when he uses this shower). He then sprays/mists them once a week only (not too much...don’t let water collect around the base of the plants as this will rot them). If he over-sprays, or if it looks like any water is collecting at the base he turns them over/shakes them out. They will rot if any water is left between the fronds at the base.
He sprays them with a mix of distilled water and this fertilizer per the instructions on the back. https://www.amazon.com/Grow-More-5118-Tillandsia-1-25-Pound/dp/B004G1CU3O
We killed a lot when we soaked them (some are fine with this method like the hanging moss... but not the spiky ones where water can get trapped between the fronds at the base...so he just sprays everything now instead) and he is always careful to put them upside down and under a fan if they do get too much water.
Good luck!
These are good notes. Thanks. I started using this fertilizer a few weeks ago.

Do you have a favorite brand?
The shelves I got from Amazon (link), the plants were purchased from Air Plant Supply Co., except for the red one which I got from a local grocery store.
I like using tiny pots, snack serving bowls, or candle holders for mine. I actually have three a lot like yours that live together in this cute (& cheap) little succulent pot from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PXJRG47/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_uXdlFb4KBXABS
I love this pot because it's little "spikes" mean it can sit tilted at different angles to show off the tillys and help them sit comfortably together. They've been happy there for years now!
Here's the instructions I received from Jerry Raack (prominent Bromeliad Society International member, past director, lifelong enthusiast, species "discoverer" (T. kickae and T. raacki are both species he discovered in Ecuador, named after his wife and himself, respectively):

At first, I was really concerned with water standing in the leaf axils causing rot. But after 4 months now, I have yet to have any issues. Granted, I always have a ceiling fan operating in my plant room, and there's always a breeze outside. I suspect those two things are preventing rot.
Legends of a fine mist spray bottle, one that possesses the power to create an aerosol of the purest water, rather than merely spritzing, have been passed down through our most sacred oral traditions. Virtually unknown to all but those who dared to practice the mystical hairdressing arts, who jealously guarded its existence, rumors of this magical device were whispered about the land until they finally reached the ears of the horticultural guilds, who were desperate to unlock the secrets to growing the plant which needed no soil. After much arcane research, delving through the labyrinth of the Amazon, the grail of fine mist production was at long last discovered.
At first, the caretakers of the so-called "air plant" were skeptical, for $12 was a great amount. But after so much toil and hardship and frustration in the pursuit of the answer, there was no other choice, for it was told that the results must be seen to be believed. Finally, no longer the exclusive province of the scissor-wielding elite, the gift of true aerosol shall be brought to us all.
I dont remember where I got mine specifically but heres the closest thing I could find Happy Bonsai 3 Cute Animal Ceramic Pots Mini Succulent Planters + 4 Mesh Screens https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M2WX4S1/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_tKS.DbH8K6NJ7
wattage is not really what you care about, it's PPFD aka micromols aka µmol m-2 s-1, which measures the amount of usable light that hits a surface at some distance. Based on my research, it seems like tillandsia will be happy with a number between 100 and 800. 400 would be a good target that should work well for most species.
If you only have a modest number of plants, something like this panel I randomly clicked on amazon would work, it says the PPFD is 300 at one foot away.
I think people really underestimate how bright even partial sunlight is, and overestimate how bright indoor lights are. Ordinary office lighting is around 1% of sunlight; tillandsia are fine at 50% sunlight.
No idea: it’s one of numerous cheap Chinese variations on amazon...this one
I have it on 12 hours a day at full power, both red and blue light, and with the lamp placed as close as possible to the plant, to the point where the leaf tips touch the bulb.
Here is the link to the Google Play Store: Plant Care Reminder. Use an "animated" appearance for optimal guilt-tripping effect.
I find that when huamelula blooms vibrant red it is gorgeous : ) ! Mine bloomed so I'm awaiting for her two pups to grow larger as I can't wait to see the next bloom next year :D ! It really is one of the best looking blooms of all the ionanthas I know of.
Summer is ending in CA but I would wait a bit until maybe October before I'm comfortable removing my 2nd screen from the window. I place screens on top of another screen in order to mitigate leaves burning from the sun. If you're getting morning sun from an east facing window I think you should be fine at this time of year even without a screen.
Beginning and mid summer is where you have to be very careful as they can be burned within 1-2 hours without a proper sunlight screen. I use this for summer in an east facing window...
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01CQJXPO0/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It'll block out lots of heat while allowing a ton of bright sunlight in from an east facing window. I never place tillies in a west facing window for summer unless I know for sure they can handle that kind of burn (tillandsia paleacea somehow lives there b/c they do CAM w/o opening their stomata thus keeping in moisture - amazing!!!).
I start placing tillies in a west facing window during Fall : ) with a screen blocker as well. It really depends on your house and the type of windows and whether it is being blocked by trees etc. You'll love the huamelula ;)!
Your wording confused me a little- have you been looking for a regular wall mount fixture to stick a specific grow type bulb into? That’s what I would do (if you aren’t already)

No affiliation, I found this book really helpful early on in the care process, strongly recommend it. Plus it's just a gorgeous book!
