>I posted this to r/AM. Mods wouldn't let it see the light of day. I decided to crosspost it here. I don't like that subreddit so much anymore ...
The actual exchange I had with this dude on why his post was a load of horseshit.
The important bit:
> This will produce no meaningful discussion because you have no meaningful insights.
> As someone who reads literally everything that's posted here, your characterization of this subreddit comes off as horribly misinformed at best, and a smear campaign at worst.
> First off, there was a recent discussion on PUA in which most of our active members voiced their opinions on the matter, most of which were more nuanced than the strawman you've presented here.
> You talk about "these techniques" when the worst of what our vocal members recommend is to look good and be sexually aggressive.
> You talk about use of the term "pump and dump" when a cursory search through the entire subreddit's history reveals only a handful of post which use the term.
> These blatantly false characterizations make me think you're just another anti-asian troll trying to fracture our group and/or make us look like PUA-wannabes.
Looks like you read one or two things you disagreed with and immediately clutched at your pearl necklace while gasping, "What will they think of us!?!?"
Then you posted your horseshit to our sub, got BTFO by yours truly, then ran here pleading, "Please somebody agree with me!"
Then you got BTFO by the users who frequent both subs.
This some sad shit, mang.
Others can provide you with much better suggestions, but I've heard good things about Ninchanese and Memrise. The former is an app that uses gamification and repetition to reinforce words and phrases.
Do you already speak fluent Mandarin? If so, you could also watch Chinese movies and television shows with Chinese subtitles.
Torture is something like force feeding ducks, waterboarding, injuring or hurting them for no reason. What you seem to describe as torture would include all factory farming.

no?
Are you trying to say China is poor and don't pay for movies? A bit behind the times. :P China pays more for movies (as of 2016) than Americans do.

Besides it's not just China it's all of Asia.

Although this book is focused more on the female experience, this was a great book I had to use when I was doing my graduate studies:

Cantonese is way hard...especially with all the intonations. I still can't get it right after all these years and I still sound like a gwailo when I try to speak it.
Damn, that's awesome that your mom taught herself at that age. There may be hope for me yet...
