Some Pentium 4 are 64bit CPUs, but not all of them. If you can install Batocera x86_64, you’ll have all emulators available. If you installed x86 (I.e. 32 bits) some won’t be, like Dreamcast or GameCube, check on https://batocera.org/compatibility.php
Yes, you can downgrade live and not lose any of your roms.
SSH to the system
batocera-upgrade https://batocera.org/upgrades/x86_64/stable/last/archives/20201001/
This will downgrade you to 5.27.2
The geforce 710 isn't supported by the mesa or nvidia drivers. Try using the nvidia legacy build - Index of /users/alexxandrefs/5.27-nvidia-legacy (batocera.org)
For the iGPU one, try adding
intel-i965-driver=true
to your batocera-boot.conf

Doesn't look like it. Seems to be missing the F keys also
I just got the official Microsoft but it wasn’t near as expensive as it is now. I’m sure there are better deals. https://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Xbox-Wireless-Adapter-Windows-Packaging/dp/B0785SFKYF/ref=mp_s_a_1_7?crid=39AH3UVJM1837&keywords=xbox+dongle+for+pc&qid=1665181444&qu=eyJxc2MiOiIyLjUzIiwicXNhIjoiMi4xNiIsInFzcCI6IjIuMDEifQ%3D%3D&spr...
I was using inexpensive wired generic Xbox 360 controllers until I stumbled upon this controller by Logitech: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003VAHYQ , i like it so much better
Logitech F310 Wired Gamepad
I really like the responsive floating D-pad (works great for fighting and old school platforming games) and it feels good in my hands. The chassis is a bit light and plastic-y, and the trigger buttons are not analog (I don't think)...
Nonetheless, I have purchased like five of these Logitech F310s by now. Works really well in Batocera.
I got one of these on Amazon recently: Optiplex 9020
Came with a 500gb drive, but I put a 1 tb SSD in it. Mine came with 8 gigs of RAM, and I'll likely put another 8 gigs in there too.
I also got this video card: XFX Speedster SWFT105 Radeon RX 6400
In windows it'll run everthing up to stuff like Street Fighter V, Killer Instinct (2013) and Tekken 7 without missing a beat. And in Batocera it'll run Dreamcast, PS2, N64, etc etc etc.
$300 and you've got yourself exactly what you need. Granted its not a microtower, but to put a video card in the pc (at least a low profile one) will need that midsize form factor.
I got this. It’s not silent but it’s very quiet and I actually like that it just runs all the time, I find it less distracting and more of white noise where as my computer will spool up and down sometimes getting pretty loud. It’s moves a ton of air and kept my odroid at 39-42c. Just a thought, I’ve got mine on it’s side blowing in my pc so the internal fan doesn’t get so loud
I've just started my Batocera journey with the win600 and I went through all the same problems. I'd look up Batocera Nation on youtube and the video from Retro Game Corps. It's taken A LOT of time tinkering, for me thats okay because I kinda enjoy the puzzle solving aspects.
Having a keyboard is a must. This is what I bought along with a USB/Ethernet cable hub: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07STY21PS?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details
The emulators pop up when you put roms in their respected folder. I had the same learning experince as you, I was like Where the fuck are the other systems?
I'm having the same issue right now with having to constantly reorientate the screen on boot with the win600. If anyone has a solution, let me know.
Ok that unit can not be upgraded unless it has a compatible m.2 slot for an external video card. It apparently has 2 slots, so it might be possible, just depends on how much money you want to spend.
you would need something like https://www.amazon.com/JMT-External-Graphics-Docking-Expresscard/dp/B07XH213NQ/ (I do not know if this is the right version)
an atx PSU and a video card.
I personally have no experience with this, and I do not know if batocera will break if you get this running (the infamous nvidia dual graphics bug).
You have a rabbit hole to go down.
If 300€ is you price range (I assume by the prices of the mini PCs) then I wouldn't go with a fanless low power celeron or pentium PCs. I had used a fanless J4125 for the emulation of up to PS1, but I throttled so hard that it barely ran N64/PS1 in 480p. Blast Corps or San Francisco Rush needed to run in 240p with this model. Dunno what caused this poor performance, but after benchmarking I could see, that it was throttling fast. Anyway. I settled with something like this https://www.amazon.de/dp/B08VF3FBKC/ for my next project. If you can find one with dual channel RAM: perfect. I have this model here and it runs up to PS2/XBox/GameCube. Very demanding titles like Gran Turismo 4 or Rogue Squadron 2 have their issues with performance but overall it's fun to use. It definitely can handle PS1 and N64 upscaled to FHD. And as I see it, it's cheaper than some other options of yours ╮(. ❛ ᴗ ❛.)╭

This was the one I saw, and unfortunately this is still a terrible time to buy any GPU, even these which are pretty mediocre in the grand scheme of things. I think 1030s were like $75 new when they came out. Thing is, for these old Optiplex systems there aren't a lot of options for GPUs but the rest of the system is such a great value it's hard to complain too much. The worst part is when MS discontinues support for W10 in a couple of years because none of these are going to be able to officially run W11 if you wanted to. I've got like 5 different Dell systems in that boat. 🤬
>If you are making it a permanent install inside a cabinet, you might as well install it to the primary hard drive, preferably an ssd. As far as the power switch, you can buy cabinet mountable power switches that plug into the motherboard of the pc.

Where’d you find one for that price?
Is it the same pc as this?
2019 Lenovo Thinkcentre M715q Business Mini Tiny Desktop (AMD Ryzen 5 Pro 2400GE Quad Core 3.8GHz, 8GB DDR4 RAM, 256GB NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD) WiFi AC, Bluetooth, DisplayPort, Windows 10 Pro 64-Bit https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07T91XR1B/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_62DM1ZQ9WVBTYSNWP0C7
Awesome thanks, I’ve noticed that those controllers will come in various versions. Do I want the one that says “not machine specific”?
Like this one for example:

I know I can probably find stuff cheaper on eBay but I want to be able to send it back no questions asked if it does work right.
Are you running an older video card? the new version might have updated drivers that don't support your card anymore. I know the Nvidia cards older than GTX600 will need a different install media per the bottom of this page https://batocera.org/download
Well, that's what you get for using a shady website's "custom" image. Roll with the punches.
I would recommend downloading the official Batocera from batocera.org, it will save you headaches later on.
Not that you want to spend $15-$25 more but an HDMI audio splitter might work.
If you want to keep plex on it, you can boot and use Batocera from USB (note you can’t run plex while Batocera is booted).
Check out: https://batocera.org/how_to_install On the last step you can hold down option during boot and you’ll get a boot menu to choose the USB drive.
If you want to go the distance and install Batocera to the internal disk, it’ll blow away your MacOS install and will only serve as a gaming machine.
You don't install any emulators, they are all already present. Simply place your ROMs in the appropriate folder and away you go.
You can check for compatibility for your platform here: https://batocera.org/compatibility.php
You have to refresh the games list (or reboot) after you put roms into the apropriate folders. Otherwise the Systems do not appear in EmulationStation.
You do not need to download cores for Retroarch. Batocera already contains all important emulators/cores (if you still miss a cetain emulator/core and you want to have it integrated in batocera, please come to the discord and try to convince (with good arguments) why this certain emulator/core has to be integrated in the next version of batocera).
Which emulators/cores/systems do you miss? Did you have had a look on this page yet?:
https://batocera.org/compatibility.php
Here you can see, which Systems/Emulators/Cores are available for which Architecture (RPi, x86, Odroid and so on).
I think I already responded to you on Discord, but for completeness here, there is currently no 3DS emulation on Pi4. You can check the emulator compatibility for each architecture on https://batocera.org/compatibility.php
Each Batocera version comes with its set of pre-configured emulators. They will appear on the menu as soon as you put ROMs in the corresponding folder.
However, Nintendo DS and 3DS are only available for PC right now, not for Raspberry Pi. You can check the compatibility on https://batocera.org/compatibility
Glad you figured it out. I was thinking maybe UEFI entry was missing entirely. For reference for anyone else this would allow you to easily create a UEFI entry or edit the label to easily identify it. https://www.diskgenius.com/how-to/manage-uefi-boot-options.php
Thanks for the tip! I didn't find the Audio latency setting under System Settings, not even under System Settings > Advanced > Developer...
But I did find an Audio Latency setting under per-system settings, and if I increase it to 192, I reach 60FPS!
So thanks a lot! But I wonder; is there a way to set this globally? And is it normal that you manually have to set this higher on a Raspberry Pi 4?
I also wonder if this has something to do with the fact that I'm using something like this: https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B07K21HSQX/ (combined with a normal hdmi cable)
LG 27GL850‑B)
The controls will be whatever keybinds you set it to be. I’m pretty sure Mame actually defaults to keyboard keys, but I can’t remember for sure.
Personally for my Mame setup I have one of these, which I love.
Rii K06 Mini Wireless Keyboard with Touchpad Mouse Combo for PC/Mac/Android, Black (2.4G Version) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07FRBMS12/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_FW3X3A4FCQXX55RHC3PX
I am beginning to wonder if my Batocera experience is being hampered by my choice of storage media. I also purchased a SanDisk 256gb USB 'Ultra Fit' thumb drive that I used to install Batocera and put all of my ROMs on.
I have been reading user feedback on Amazon for the USB drive that I purchased and it seems that it is prone to overheating (it does get quite warm) and failure. I'm not sure if the occaisional locking up of batocera is due to the Beelink's processor or maybe just a crummy plastic thumb drive.
I wonder if switching over to maybe a 0.5tb external hard drive may clear up any freezing or locking up of Batocera.
These work great & are tool-less.
Known issue with GameCube controller adapters. The lead maintainer is definitely aware of it, I did some troubleshooting with him on the Discord a few weeks ago. Last I heard he was going to get an adapter to further investigate the issue, but the team wants to get v31 out the door first.
I've tried many adapters, the only adapter I know works is the Mayflash adapter, and even then you have to connect it after Batocera is booted. If it's connected on boot it will do the same thing.
