For new kittens, immediately giving them an entire house is really overwhelming. It's better to start off with one room for them to get comfortable and slowly expand their universe from there. I always bring kittens home and put them in a room in a big playpen like this one for the first few days, then leave it open so they can explore the room, etc.
If you want it to stop, try getting him one of these! It helped a lot with a rescue that had separation anxiety from being taken from mom too early and would suck/knead inappropriately.
> She also seems to shed a lot, and I remember reading before I got her that Bengals don't really shed much?
It's usually seasonal. Going into summer they shed into a lighter coat. I'd recommend getting one of those spikey rubber cat brushes like this style: https://smile.amazon.com/Pet-Bath-Massage-Brush-Grooming/dp/B08KDPKQLL/ref=sr_1_17?dchild=1&keywords=cat+brush+soft+massage&qid=1619710202&sr=8-17
Bengals (and all cats really) love them, and brushing regularly (maybe wear your mask?) could help your allergies by removing the allergens building up on her coat.
It’s called a “Cat Dancer”. They’re super inexpensive ($1.99 on Amazon last time I bought one). My bengal would make these adorable chirping sounds he didn’t normally make while playing with it. It’s also great because you can tape it to the wall when your arm gets tired and they can bat at it on their own time. I’ve given them as gifts to several friends and every cat seems to love it. Here’s the link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0006N9I68/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_W5V7BbWNMZ1VK
The motion sensor can be bought here. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000EJXR0M/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_t1_6byOBbAYT89CX
I dont remember the exact thread measurements on all the adapters, but they can all be found in a normal hardware store.
PetSafe Come With Me Kitty Harness and Bungee Leash, Harness for Cats https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001OP7JTK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_dl_GEFDP07XP8D6JWDAQXS3?psc=1
I use this for my bengal, it’s the only one she hasn’t managed to wiggle out of.
Little bit of a task to get her to enjoy it but she for sure can’t get outkitty holster
I have three of these by RC Pets.
They're adjustable at the neck and chest. They're supposed to be tight enough that you can just get a couple of fingers under the harness, but not a full hand. They come in three sizes, so I bought all three to accommodate growth.
The small fits my girl who weighs 13-14lbs. The small also fit my last cat, who weighed just 8lbs, so it gets pretty tiny! The medium fits my boy who weighs 19-20lbs, but if he grows any more, he'll need to switch into the large as the chest part is at its most extended already.
They have tried, but never been able to back out of these harnesses even after getting spooked. Which was because some moron had their aggressive dog off-leash in a residential area, and their dog charged my cats. Had to fend off the dog with my feet while it lunged and barked, scaring the piss out of my boy (literally), but neither cat escaped despite this being the absolute worst scenario for bolting tendencies.
I have two harness from this brand. Same thing happened to my kitten. Even when I bought XS, it’s still too big for him. I later found out they just made this new version for kitten. Now I have both! rabbitgoo Cat Harness and Leash Set for Walking Escape Proof, Adjustable Soft Kittens Vest
I actually bought it on Amazon. Took my sons all afternoon to build it. We then pushed it against a sliding door and put in a cat door. They love it. This is the one we got:
So the closest one I could find on amazon is this really expensive company called modkat. Not entirely a huge fan of the smaller size or the price but the lid looks very similar to my litter box. I picked mine up at a local pet store that wasn’t a chain but it looked pretty standard and wasn’t a well-known brand
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004DBNGU8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_6SCfEb0DAV9PS
You could do some googling and find other similar items. The amazon basics hooded cat litter also looks like it would get the job done. Basically just looking for a lid with holes that help wipe your kittens paws off and let the litter fall back into the box as they come out of the box.
We found these really simple ones on amazon. They’re thin, light and velcro - perfect for little cats to grow into. Here’s a link:
Hope this link works, just a best seller on Amazon made by “Pidan”. Works great.
I had the opposite issue, so switched to a fixed feeding schedule. I absolutely believe it’s the way to help cats that either under or overeat (it’s also the first step used in eating disorder recovery for humans).
For my girl (2yo, fixed) I have settled on this routine: Half a pouch of wet food in the morning and another at night, and then bikkies in the slow feeder. I use Catit senses tree which is relatively easy, and kong wobbler which is much harder.
It can be difficult with two cats when one can regulate their eating and the other can’t. I think your best bet is a regular routine with feeding and keeping them separated during mealtimes so that your girl can get her fill.
Bengals are notorious for sensitive stomachs. Sometimes you just have to try a few to see what agrees with him. Fancy feast did not agree with my boy either (what the foster was feeding him when I got him). We tried a few and landed on royal canin kitten, both wet and dry.
As for the peeing, I think that may be a separate issue. But if your vet says he is physically fine, I would think it might be behavioral then. He may not like his litter (my late boy is SUPER picky about his litter). You could try litter that has an attractant in it such as Dr. Elsey's Cat Attract litter. They also make a kitten one, but not sure what the difference is.
I have found these to be super sturdy (I have a 65" OLED TV on them) and they don't require require any mounting to furniture or holes in the walls. Whether my two Bengal girls have pushed or pulled the TV from the front or back, the TV has not moved at all. And if you still have any concerns after you have mounted the TV on them, could always rest one or both of the barbells you have on the floor over the the feet to guarantee no movement. https://www.amazon.com/Echogear-Universal-Stand-Wobble-Free-Replacement/dp/B07YN7VRK8?ref_=ast_sto_dp
Truthfully neither, although a bengal would use both. These seem to have scratching post's covered but there aren't really any comfy places to sleep. Here's one ours has shredded:

The breakaway feature on these has worked really well so far! We had to bend the bell attachment just a bit with some pliers so it wouldn’t come off.
Lol! He was by far the smartest of our 4 so I can sympathize.
There are also several kinds of automatic laser pointers you can get, like this hanging one.
I like these, no drilling and they don’t show from outside the cupboard.
I’m really liking these ones by Hipet: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B092Q4V7KN/.
We bought 3 of them in early April; 2 medium for the girls and 1 large for my boy. Sadly, my Gremlin boy only got to wear his twice before passing away from cancer at the end of April. I no longer need the harness. If you want it, I will send it to you.
2) google Da Bird. Also the cheap amazon cat springs. Crisp bags tied in knots. Cardboard boxes, catnip etc ... toys can be cheap as you like, don't fall into a trap of spending a fortune on them in one go
Here is the direct link at Amazon. Lir is 18-19 lbs and uses a medium. Indy is 11-12 lbs and stocky; she’s in a small, but as she keeps growing (she’s 8 months old), she’ll need a medium, too.
Is she gasping for air? Or is it more like wet sounding hoarking, with her stomach heaving? Or does it literally sound like a cough - does she lick her lips when doing it?
Maybe try this for now: GimCat Malt-Soft Paste Extra -... https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0085IL11Q?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
It won't harm even if hairball isn't the issue.
Are you in the southern hemisphere I.e. is your autumn starting now?
I was so worried the first time with my babies as well, and it went smoothly as can be. He’ll be groggy and sleepy probably but as long as he doesn’t lick at his stitches he’ll be right as rain in no time. Get him a soft cone, mine didn’t keep the hard cone on at all. This one might be small for your guy but something like this works like a charm and will keep him more comfortable.

cat bed I found it on Amazon ‘wall mounted cat bed’. This one is at 7’ and probably his favorite bed in the house
If possible, trade the cone of shame with a donut of shame. It does the same, but it doesn't irritate their whiskers, which are a sensitory organ. It annoys them. Like, have you ever put your hair into a ponytail and there was this one strain that was wayy to tight in it and you couldn't relax it? that kind of annoyance.
Mine would always slip the cone, would one of those suit style ones help or would her surgeries make that too difficult on her? Suppose they are more for body injuries than facial though. I think you can get some different styles that may help;
Same situation, though I’m lucky to have a balcony with a screen door. Maybe see about getting some kind of screens, even if they’re just the kind that kind of prop the windows open?
Also, I bought a portable AC a few years back and it’s been a lifesaver. It’s much like this one and was totally worth the money. (Mine was about $400 at the time.)
Thanks! Both are from Amazon. For the collar I just looked up personalized breakaway collar and was able to get their name, address, and # personalized for like $6. Both listings disappeared but here is a similar harness
Thanks! Both are from Amazon. For the collar I just looked up personalized breakaway collar and was able to get their name, address, and # personalized for like $6. Both listings disappeared but here is a similar harness
I got one of these for my bengals. They love it (I keep it hidden until times where I need to get things done and they are being needy) I chose his one, even though it is a more expensive than similar interactive toys, specifically because it’s rechargeable instead of battery operated 👍🏻👍🏻 It’s been amazing, and is like cat crack for entertaining my demons when I cannot.
Hm yeah, that is tough when the vet cannot provide an answer. Sounds like she's struggling to pee from what you said, and maybe in pain. Are you able to get an opinion from a different vet? And possibly get the appointment as soon as you catch her doing this, as it could be recurring, not constant.
In the meantime, promote drinking more with a cat fountain, and provide wet food. My vet also recommended these: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B005UCP7LA/?coliid=I4UIEC5ZAUDOV&colid=163ZD2OOU87W1&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it. They are over-the-counter, not prescription.
Not sure what to think about the spay. Just anecdotally, my friend had a dog who was spayed too early and was basically incontinent after that... but yeah, that's a different animal and shouldn't really be applied here. Just thinking, I wouldn't rule it out as a cause, you know your cat best, trust your gut.
Please get a seatbelt for him. My boy is harness trained and I have this one. It works perfectly to keep him and me safe during travel.
Yes a while ago. She didn't go often, but when she did she growled. Then all of a sudden she peed in the sink and it was like thick and pink (I assumed blood). So took her in the vet and sadly she peed in the carrier, so the vet couldn't get a sample either because her bladder was just emptied. I think they literally poke a needle right into them to extract it but it didn't work. She recommended cystophan which didn't require a prescription: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B005UCP7LA/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_HPEE9RS43GWWDVHPC1ET?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I kept a really close eye on my girl's peeing habits, plus amount, colour and texture, tbh more than I wanted to see lol, and it seemed resolved. In any case further checks showed nothing out of the ordinary in that department. She also has a fountain to promote drinking more and regular wet food. We believe it was stress induced uti because at the time she peed blood, there was this stray slinking around the garden and pissing her off.
I looked into this one but didn't buy it at the time. The reviews mention it's pretty escape proof. Nothing is perfect but clips are much more secure than velcro.
I have this similar one: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07HNZ7KGJ/ which I chose due to being a better fit as my girl is quite slim.
In my experience (she got stung by a wasp and FREAKED OUT), it's very escape proof. I've never seen a cat leap in so many directions in such a short time. Poor thing, but she was fine in the end.
had it - gave away the harness part because ours grew out of it - ended up finding harnesses that fit their body better. we use the bungee leash part attached to a retractable leash so they can get some distance. We use this harness and I love it for both of ours. Size XS for our 8.5lb cat and XS as well for our 10.5lb cat
We take liquid cat treats and freeze them then My husband holds the treat to distract the cat and I cut the claws. My Siamese is easier, she falls asleep in my lap and I cut the nails while she sleeps. link to the treats we use
Amazon! And they have other colors. It’s really soft and warm without being heavy. Bengal Camouflage/leopard print blanket
We fly Delta with our Bengals - I bought these carriers - slightly bigger than what delta recommends, but nobody measures - and they do fit under the seat - it’s a tighter fit, but it does work just fine. Ours also love to cry the entire flight - but are fine if we give them a nice dose this kitty CBD before the flight. We also do the little room for with them for security (just ask and they’ll help you out) because ours get a bit squirmy when we hold onto them instead of walking through the metal detector. Good luck! your Kitty will do great! lmk if you have any other questions - happy to help!
I have this one and my Bengal likes it a lot.

Ours is picky too. She likes these dried squid snacks best. from Amazon.jp
Our cat will put some of his favorite toys in his food bowl for safekeeping. Not sure where the shoe is on his top 5 list, but he may just want to move it closer to the food bowl for security. In the meantime, try this for teething/biting needs. We have gone through 4 of these in the past 5 years.

But mine are almost all in one area that I can surround. In gd weather they’re moved out to the deck.
You may have already tried this, but my bengals absolutely love laser pointers! It’ll encourage them to run, twist, and jump in different ways compared to chasing each other through the house.
Another idea to mix things up is to add some play tunnels/mazes? Something like this: Ripple Rug. Though I’ve never used one myself.
It’s this one
The sizes vary a ton from Medium to Large - we have Medium for both cats. Windom (in the picture) is 12 pounds - and this fits him perfectly - Our other cat Jacoby is 9 pounds and his fits as well.
I also put up a review on amazon with photos showing a comparison between M and L size because I was shocked at the size difference. The cats are wearing them there too so you can get another look at the size!
It works out great! It’s this leash (minus the harness part) attached to a retractable leash so they can get some distance but also have a little bit of slack when they’re close by. Love it!
I hope it works for you too!! I know how horribly frustrating cat pee can be. If you were curious, the link below is the enzyme urine cleaner I used. I gave it a day before I cleaned with the regular cleaner to give it time to break it all down. (I highly suggest a regular cleaner after any type of enzyme cleaner bc it can smell a little strange after it breaks down the urine)

These were custom made locally, but you can find similar ones on amazon like this one:
Okay…. I have a LIFE SAVER of a product. When I moved with my cat to a home that had dogs in it, I ran into a similar problem. What I’ve done thst seems to stop it all together (except one accident in the past 2 months) is I got a second litterbox (it might help with two cats so they can each get their own, you may even want another on top of that) and I bought an enzyme cleaner to actually get rid of the problem spots. The enzyme cleaner will break down the urine so even your cat can’t smell it and so he doesn’t go back to the same spot. The biggest thing is: Dr. Elsey's Cat Attract Problem... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000PKY7YA?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share This shit SAVED MY LIFE. It has a bunch of stuff that attracts your cat so they prefer the litterbox to other spots in the house. I bought the cat litter, an enzyme cleaner, and a second litterbox. Before I put the new cat litter out I cleaned EVERY SPOT with the enzyme cleaner, I washed fabrics in vinegar and baking soda, and then I reclesned the spot with the enzyme cleaner after a day with regular household cleaners. After that I set up the new litter boxes, and one in an area my cat seemed the most relaxed and comfortable in. After a couple days, my cat started using the litterbox with no problems. The only accident we’ve had was when she was alone for a couple days, and it was only one small accident. Nothing compared to her peeing on something 3 times a day like before. It can take a couple days to over a week for the litter to actually become effective, for my cat it was instant and for my friend it was 2 weeks, but it honestly has saved me and my friends life. we were so beyond frustrated and over it because cat pee is just GROSS. I hope this helps solve your problem!! Good luck!!!

Recommend a medium unless you have a kitten or very tiny cat. Gives the best range of motion. Never leave them unattended or they may get out of the harness. This is true for any of them.
We have one that’s content to go back to the house. The buy wants to stay outside longer, but both get tired out after an average walk.
It the getting on and off part that's been the challenge.
This is the second one we tried that we had luck with.

We hung toys throughout with safety pins.
If you live in an apartment and happen to have big windows, hey, that’s free real estate! I wanted our Siamese to be able to climb without using wall-mounted cat shelves or taking up floor space with a large traditional cat tree (however we do have a small tree and a bookcase that has a shelves cleared just for him). So, I got multiple window suction cup cat perches that he can jump between. We have a dual tier cat bed/perch and this regular perch designed without those wires in the way.
I hung them up like steps so the bed is lower & the perch is higher. The bed is his favorite for naps. The perch is the highest platform he can get to in the whole apt & he loves to hang out up there when birds are outside. It did take some getting used to, though, so I used treats to familiarize him at first.
Anyway I’m sure you’ve heard of window perches, but I haven’t seen people create multiple cat climbing platforms with them. If you have large windows and don’t have a problem with obscuring part of your view (we can only see the building across the street), it’s a great option imo. Just thought I would bring this up since we live in a 1br and know the struggle!
I highly recommend these toy mice, they have been my girl's long time favorite and when we first brought her home she would carry them everywhere like a toddler with a teddy bear. She would even bring them up to bed and we'd find them in the blankets!
Think this is what I got :)

We purchased a smart litter box from Pura and it is absolutely life-changing. I only have to clean it once every two months oh, I only have to empty the tray every week or so, it fabreezes itself and is fantastic
It texts me when it needs cleaned, emptied, more litter, more fabreeze, and it even weighs the cats so we can see how fast our little leopards are growing.
Seriously consider getting one of these!
The hedgehog. But only the old, beaten up hedgehog that she’s had since 2016. We tried replacing it and she wasn’t keen. She carries it around and meows her head off before dropping it by our feet. She will even play fetch with it if we toss it somewhere. Silly girl!

Nerf Rival rounds. These are by far the best thing I’ve found, but they do wind up in weird places.
I got it off of amazon, but if I were to buy it again I think I would get the same backpack but with the mesh instead of the the clear plastic on the bottom just for better air circulation. She does have a personal fan, but I guess me being super anxious I don't want her hyperventilating or something. It also has an option to open more on the backside when you set it down, so she has more walking space if I wanted to keep her inside it.

We use this brand filled with Blue kibble, it’s adjustable to allow only one or two kernels to be dispensed at a time, if he’s hungry it takes him about 40 min to empty, he has to bat it around a lot to get it to let stuff loose.
I have this one and my kitties love it. My bengal even plays with his favorite toy in it -.- My one complaint is you need to line the little filter/motor cabinet up with the opening of the top part. There’s not exactly a set place for it but it’s not enough for me to toss the thing. It’s, BY FAR, the easiest to clean and change the filter.
My issue is hard water so occasionally I have to soak the whole thing (motor included) in some vinegar and it works like new. I’ve had it for almost a year now and have no issues. Easy to maintain. Also, replacement motors are inexpensive.. which I only looked up because my other fountains motor kept breaking so I wanted to make sure if it happened again I could easily replace it.
She's 7mths and doesn't mine people... but if you reach to pet her that's a that's a hard pass buddy!! Both of my beasts go mad for this rotating wand-under-a-blanket toy. It realistically simulates human toes under a bedsheet! I feel a little guilty deploying it, as if I'm parking the children in front of a television to get them out of my hair, but it is magically effective.
The best toy of course is another cat as a playmate.
This is the one we’ve got at the moment but I’ll have to look for a new one soon because he’s growing out of it!

If you have windows or doors that take suction cups, there's these fishing toys that ours adores. It's a suction cup with a pole that can be popped out and a fish on an elastic string. Once the fish dies (a couple weeks, max) I replace the string with a new elastic and tie a replacement feather toy onto the end. When he gets bored of it, I change out the feather (assuming it's not dead) or move it to another area of the house.
We're up to 3 sticks, and two suction cups because he managed to get one off the wall and punctured it.
Also, food toys. We feed ours a can of wet, and then dry in various toys overnight. He likes the treat balls he can bat around.
Also this fish. Ours likes to wait for it to stop moving so he can hit and run away. It's hilarious. https://www.amazon.com/TOOGE-Electric-Realistic-Interactive-Flopping/dp/B088LTQLJT/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=interactive+cat+toy&qid=1617030582&sprefix=in&sr=8-4
Like Daevin said, that spinning toy is also good.
And don't be afraid to try silly things. His favorite toy is a crushed soda bottle with a zip tie around the neck.
yes! we take ours out in the cold - bought them lil jackets (size small) so they stay warm :) I second taking her outside!
I recently went through this too. I bought a recovery suit off of Amazon to use instead of the cone of shame that she came home with. It let her walk around the house more, but it kept her from over doing it because of the way it wrapped around her legs to protect her wound. I recommend them to everyone now.

Thank you! I purchased the harness from a local small world store but I found a link to it on Amazon.

Thank you for replying. What's your opinion about a playpen like this.
the reason why we're considering it is because we have a lot of wires + important documents in the room (office space) and he wants to be in the same room as us. This will let us be able to continue working from home while he hangs out with us, until he gets used to the point where he is not going after everything.
Oh - and to add for sizing - our cats weigh 9 and 12 pounds and both fit the XS just fine. I’d still measure your kitty just to make sure though. also a big fan of this one for little tiny kittens. Worked great when ours were super tiny
We use this one in size xs- it’s step in - easy on/easy off and they have not gotten out ever - I’ve tried multiple harnesses and these work best. Can’t vouch for the kitty holster though - never tried one like that ;). good luck

I got it off amazon:) It’s overpriced for what it is but he really likes it ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Amazon has tons and tons of great cat trees.
I purchased this one: Go Pet Club 62-Inch Cat Tree https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007UI47PY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_JDpODb823M01Y
Pretty reliable and relatively easy to construct. My 10/11month old bengals both go nuts on it daily.
Oh ya, they’re eating on this a couple times each day. I planted way more than they can keep up with though, so I’m “mowing” it regularly with scissors. It grows super fast.

Not sure where you are, but it looks like if you poke around on Amazon you might be able to find some similar stuff. These prices seem high (Amazon typically charges sellers something like 25-30% markup, I think). You might do better looking at local pet stores. Anyways, can attest cats love these things. Scratch and sleep and scratch some more. Money well spent.

It takes a while before they get used to wearing a harness. Just have to keep putting it on everyday
