It’s all I’m concerned with in fact. This book is full of empirical evidence to prove this

100 is where I suggest to drain. Usually just half at first.
A number of recent chemists - namely Robert Lowry and the team of chemical engineers at Orenda have released what is essentially new info for the pool industry - it’s been all over industry publications for the last couple years and it’s irrefutable. I know there will resistance to that last statement bc this sub is full of “i know what I’m talking about” brand of ignorance.
Here’s a link to Lowry’s book (below) where he offers a formula for calculating the point where Cya impairs the effectiveness of chlorine.
Here’s the important bit:
I’ll look for his initial publication and edit my comment to include that too.
Also check out Orendas videos on cya. They are pretty great bc they are accessible to all knowledge levels.
Orenda started as a chemical engineer company in water treatment industry - where the chemistry is multiples more complex than the pool industry.
Pool industry has some catching up to do, but it’s nice to have actual professional chemists in the industry, hopefully things will continue to improve but it will require the pool professionals stay up to date on the new industry publications. (Lowry has been featured in all the major Pool industry publications)
