I use these while I'm sitting in drive-thru lines. It helps me with stress when the lines are going slow. Or sometimes as I'm driving too. I just bang out a hundred on each hand.
I have a somewhat similar problem. Says I already put in an application, but I haven't. I just went here
https://www.grubhub.com/help/contact-us
It is for customers, but after 4 months of emails being unanswered, I had to do something. Supposedly, GrubHub is the best app for drivers. DoorDash being the worst by a mile.
It’s always best to walk away and call driver care. Looks like this place kinda sucks from the grubhub reviews- if you ban yourself it may be a nail in the casket for GH dropping them. Horrible customer comments/pretty low satisfaction https://www.grubhub.com/restaurant/atomic-wings-queens-chapel-rd-3124-queens-chapel-rd-hyattsville/384956
>Best 3 dollars I’ve spent.
Definitely a great r/frugal option. If you want to splurge, there's insulated drink caddies. This is the one I got: https://www.amazon.com/Drink-Caddy-Insulated-Portable-Carrier/dp/B08M8XT9L5/ref=sr_1_17?dchild=1&keywords=drink+caddy&qid=1632086959&sr=8-17
An important qualification here is I was full time for years before getting something like this. Time and experience told me I really should get some kind of quality, sealable drink carrier, both in the event that the restaurants are out of carriers, to keep certain drinks insulated at the desired temp (whether cold or hot ), and also a solid anchor to keep drinks from spilling in the car when I have to make sudden maneuvers. I probably wouldn't get something like this if I was part time, and I'd opt for the aforementioned frugal option.
Frankly that’s why I went on Amazon and bought a plastic cup holder. It’s good for my friends when they have drinks and good for deliveries since it won’t break. Ask for the holder anyways so when you go to deliver to their door the time between your car and them is much smaller with a less chance of it breaking.

Vegas market here, regularly see 110° summers. Been stuck on these Hanes X-Temp shirts for the past couple years now. They're seriously sooooo light, very soft & comfortable. Favorite shirt in 40 years of searching, shirt of choice for the rest of my days. (I've already stocked up, not even a joke)
If interested, would warn you that some of the colors come out heavier, & don't wash/wear the same. Not sure why. The black ones are the most perfect T-shirt ever, but the white ones are too thin & you can kinda see through them (enough to make it weird).
I read this page https://www.dash.org/2018/08/16/evo/ but am still not sure what this "evolution platform" is? Is it just going to be a way to easily integrate dash into an app to accept payments?
It is available on Android too
Edit - There is a free option, but the full featured version requires a $6.99/month subscription or $38.99 for a year.

Duh? Now you can pee everywhere. 😐
dude, i bought this Odor Absorbing bag (usually for dispensaries) & it's a total game changer. before every morning i got in the car, there was always a smell of left over food, even with air fresheners. & also on deliveries, the food would start wreaking via the normal bag .. now with the smell proof bag, my car ALWAYS smells fresh again, every-time i step inside 🙌 while on deliveries, you cannot notice a damn thing. i also got a space blanket to put inside for food quality. you can check out the one i got here it's SOOO well worth it & big enough to handle any order with ease
These are what I've used for a few years. They convert to pizza mode easy enough though the zipper is tricky one handed that way.
They have a few flaws. The inner foil can loosen from the stitching or tear. But with some black fabric duct tape to repair, it was as good as new.
I just fold them in half for small orders. Customers are happy to see the food was insulated. I kind of make a production of removing the food in the hopes of encouraging a tip.
If you want one that just records outwards (towards traffic) and aren't looking for one that records inside the car as well i like these:
https://www.amazon.com/Veement-Waterproof-Control-Enhanced-G-Sensor/dp/B0B8RBTXHH/
Multiple brands on amazon, just search for "rearview camera mirror" and get one that has a sony starvis sensor and they're all made in the exact same factory so go with whatever is on sale.
The nice thing about them is that they extremely discreet, if you have stuff/people in your back seat it doesn't block your view, and at night time they are great so you don't get blinded by headlights, and serve as a rearview camera if your car doesn't have one or is kind of crappy.
Having a car stereo place install it will cost you about another $100
surely slapping a tamper seal sticker ($0.02 per) on the bag makes more sense that encasing the order in a trash bag, no? unless I'm misunderstanding something
I deliver on a motorcycle, so I have a GoPro that covers everything. You can have a body cam, I got my GoPro clone for $13 and it works great. You can get a cube type that goes on your chest or on a hat for < $99 IIRC.
Other tips are to have the bags sealed. One restaurant missed 1/2 the meal (2 burritos) and I told the guy the bag is sealed, he said yes. Not all are sealed thou.
Pretty sure these are highly rated.
Watch the size of the MicroSD card they'll take. Mine is limited to 32G and that's about 3.5 hours at 720.
IDK if they make an all day one, but something in the range of 4~5 hours would be nice.
You can get chest straps and other attachments all over the place.
The folding hand truck is a great idea. HarborFreight has one and they have sales all the time. Getting a 20% discount coupon is pretty easy.
I looked for a "foldable wagon" but I can't find it right now at HarborFreight, but Amazon has them:https://www.amazon.com/PORTAL-Collapsible-Folding-Utility-Telescoping/dp/B086PNYQ7H
The other is at HF and it's a foldable platform truck, basically a 4 wheel dolly that folds down.
Personally, a foldable hand truck is probably best, but have some shelves so that you don't have to stack the stuff on each other, OR have those plastic crates with bung cords to hold them down.
You can also get the foldable crate boxes and if you wanted, add a simple plastic handle and some wheels.
I like the idea of bolting on some wheels because you can get some larger lawnmower type wheels that will go up stairs better than the tiny wheels.
HF also carries a bunch of wheels, including inflated types.
I wouldn't be able to pull the car back to the laundry room. So the $380 switch box, a 100 foot extension (measured distance from laundry room wall to closest parking space is 84 feet) for $209 ( https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0881MQLRS ), and then a small weatherproof box ($16) to mount the cord end to the fence (about $30). $605 is a lot less than I expected to pay to run a dedicated line from the box in the back yard, under the house, under the sidewalk, and to the fence.
Then again I could spend the $16 on the box, $210 on the extension, and $45 for a Y-splitter, with the instructions to the wife/kids to not run the dryer at night. That might not be a good LONG term solution but it does save another $334 up front.
Equinox EV, if it comes out with 240-250 miles range and under $30K, would be a good option. I like the look. Then again coming from a 2008 Uplander (17mpg) and 1993 Town Car (19mpg) anything is an upgrade.
I live in a trailer park, and see no difficulty in charging one. Even if you don't own the home, if you have an electric dryer, you have everything you need to charge a EV. The typical EV can fully charge from zero at 220V in about 6 to 10 hours, give or take. You can't charge at the same time as you are using the dryer, but there are reasonably inexpensive switches to automatically switch between the two, so you only charge when the dryer is not in use.
That obviously doesn't work for most apartments. Public high speed chargers are an option, especially for the latest gen cars like the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and the Kia EV6. They charge from 10 to 80% in about 18 minutes, so waiting for your car to charge is not too bad. It is more expensive than charging at home, but still quite a bit less than paying for gas in many areas. (Though I see you are in rural OK, so this won't be an option for you, but it might be for others).
Do you have a price point? During the height of the pandemic, my nearest grocery store was over an hour away so I invested in two. I use two different ones - igloo 12v cooler/heater combo. and also have this one I use mostly in the high of summer but mostly in my camper van for weekend trips here
Unless you live in a densely populated city, it might be tougher than others. An ebike would be great outside a city.
I bike about 6 hours a day. I started at about 6 hours a week about a year ago. You get used to it and it seems like you have some fitness background.
Get an insulated bag that goes on your bike rack. This will keep the load off your back and it’ll be easier to push the pedal this way. An insulated bag is great in any weather.
I use this. I can usually carry 2 orders at a time. The drink holders this one provides could be better but I have worked with it.

Be seen, wear reflectors, lights, and colorful bright clothes. A power brick if you’re going to be out there longer. And bring food and electrolyte drinks with water! If you don’t, you’ll want to call it quits in the 2 hour mark.
get somethin like that. i got one a bit smaller and couldn’t take pizzas which ended up being like 10% of orders or something (which is kinda significant, sucks to turn down orders like that. pizza orders def will get you tips) that dude down there has some good pointers but he’s talking about motorcycles. backpack like that got me thru all summer last year
You'll need some kind of adhoc solution for how you want to carry your loads. None of the racks/backpacks offered commercially are suitable for universal food delivery on a motorcycle.
You better be able to do all of your own maintenance because you'll be doing a lot of it.
Get one of these or something like it https://smile.amazon.com/VUP-Wristband-Samsung-Rotatable-Walking/dp/B06XSZ375C/ref=sr_1_3?crid=36H9ZWEB3A8DW&keywords=wrist+phone+holder&qid=1647041056&sprefix=wrist+phone%2Caps%2C334&sr=8-3
Do not ever allow yourself to feel as though you have to hurry.
Do not tunnelvision on your phone while driving. Don't even look at it when traffic is tight. If traffic is light only look at it for like 1.5 seconds at most.

Do not buy a used bike.

This is what I use for UE in my car. Much better than the deliveroo bag I was given, and you can separate hot and cold items, or take two orders and keep them seperate with drinks in the netting on the outside.
They no longer have the kit I purchased, but this one is a lot like it and currently a great price. I don't know if I'd consider them great flashlights but the ones I have which are very similar work good enough for my needs. They can be focused to a narrow, bright beam to check for addresses from the road and quickly back to a broad area to see the path in front of you. And they use 18650 batteries, so they should last for weeks when only occasionally used.

How cheap do you want? I've got this one for sale (https://offerup.com/item/782554399), but I'd only recommend it on AT&T based services, and it worked well for me, unfortunately Cricket doesn't allow it on their system, other wise I'd still be using it. AS to a prepaid service, FreedomPop can be a bit spotty, but it was cheap at like $30 for 5 gigs of data, and their phone numbers aren't transferable.
How much extra are you getting paid to fill drinks?

The wife and I run this
Not sure about the jumbo BK cups but I've managed to close it with 2 mexican cokes in before, angled a bit, the fact that it's all flexible helps. Does a very good job on the insulation front, had a milkshake in it for like 40 minutes because of a double and it was still frosty on the outside when I delivered it.
The drink slots section is also removable so it can function as an extra hotbag for a smaller part of an order.
My only worry with it is it tipping over when braking if you've got two drinks in one side of it and nothing on the other.
This magnetic one is what my partner and I both use. It's worked really well for both of us.

Do you have an Ibera rear rack? If you have an Ibera rear rack they make a food bag that you can clip onto the rear rack. I have their water proof trunk bag and I do occasionally use it for deliveries but if I had food bag one though it would be a lot easier. I don't think that one comes with drink holders though so it might be difficult to do some orders. Link is the product. I normally see it for $59.99 when in stock.

Oh. My regular v-brakes do well when it rains, but we have separated bike lines downtown here so it helps a lot with safety. I recently had to tighten my brake cables tho and use lots of reflectors all over my backpack, a bike light, and now I have two “mini LED headlamps”—one which I strapped to the front of one of my backpack straps and the other is mounted on my bike helmet. They were like $3 each at Target.
Reflective tape is really useful.
I can’t find the cheaper LED headlamps on the Target website but they have similar rechargeable, lightweight ones here:

A lightweight waterproof internal frame backpack. Recently got this one for Christmas. Before, I used a similar one made by REI but it took on 10 years of wear and tear, much of it not exclusive to being a bike courier.

I’m thinking about eventually getting a front rack to handle more than one extra large delivery at a time. Otherwise I can fit up to three smaller orders from, say, Chipotle, in the backpack, plus in the lower compartment I have a whole “day kit” of stuff, plus emergency things and bike maintenance stuff like tubes and a hand pump and a bike multi tool.
You can buy something like this to fix that, if you don't have passengers very often.
Just make sure they are the right size/shape.
As both a former pizza delivery driver and now an app courier, you're an idiot. There are not "pizzas of all different shapes and sizes" there are exactly two shapes: round and rectangular... and both typically get placed in a generally square box. Various sizes sure, but within a typical range between 9" and 18"... a few outliers may make it into the 20" and up range, but they're quite uncommon.
Within a month or two of starting the app courier bit, I relized that several pizzaa places in my area used the app I was working. As such I made it a point to order a nice pizza bag off Amazon capable of accepting pizzas up to 18" and still closing. It's even taken on a 20" pie, but the flap couldn't be completely closed. The massive investment? At the time it was $20 with free shipping and I'm still using it today over 2 years later, a bit less often in my new area but it still gets used and is in good shape.
As for training? Keep the boxes in the same orientation you were given them in and put them in a hot bag or under a blanket in your car at the very least. That's the extent of the training, half of which already describes the training for food couriering in general.
Looks like I was mistaken on the price, but it was very similar to this:
Disclaimer that these are not professional lights. It gets the job done for me though
Amazon is a good source. I picked this pizza bag late last year. Good quality, even compared to the Domino's bags I was used to for years.
lol... I'd hope not. You can drop $20 or $30 and get equally as good pizza bags from Amazon, if not better. Plus no branding. For $23 this is the one I picked up last year for running with UberEats, still using it and it looks almost as good as the day I bought it. And around here most of the Mom 'n' Pop joints don't bother with their own delivery drivers so I see pizza runs a plenty. :D
That's cool, it's like a social version of Courier Locker for Android.

The AC trick is by far the best solution: you can get a phone clip like this that holds the phone directly in front of the vent. It's a lifesaver.
If your phone is rooted, you can underclock it. Otherwise, it's generally the act of charging that generates the most heat...
You can also use apps like Greenify to make sure background apps aren't eating your CPU as well as remove wifi scanning (in your settings, GPS) so the wifi modem is constantly turning on to scan for networks.
You don't need to do it for 80~90% of your orders, just the ones you question. The "leave it ..." or changing address or people that don't know the name of the restaurant, etc...
So maybe once ever other day or so.
I got a GoPro clone for < $20 and 32G memory cards for < $6 and it runs for about 5~6 hours IIRC.
You can get a dash cam or use any camera as a dash cam.
Most of your orders are going to be no problem, but there's always going to be people trying to scam the system and they don't give a damn about you.
I use a motorcycle and did maybe 1000 orders and only a few accused me of something. First thing I do is tell them I have a life GoPro of ever second, then they tend to backdown.
Just one example (I know nothing about this camera, it's just an example): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01HGM33HG/ref=dp_cerb_1
$49 for a 4K GoPro clone. Mine was $13 and it sucks at 1080 but works at 720 so I use that. It's not great, but it was $13 complete with everything but the memory card.
I had to drill a hole to get voice to the mic, but otherwise works pretty fair.
Personally, I'd get an "ice cube" type because it's so small or a dash cam because it's easier.
https://www.amazon.com/s?k=dash+cam&ref=nb_sb_noss_1
Another bonus of the dash cam is when someone lies about an accident. Pretty soon everyone will have one.
Greetings fellow biker- a few tips I've picked up:
It's at Walmart for $2, you mix with water and drink BEFORE you start to work and watch the food you eat. If once a day doesn't do the trick, try twice a day.
I've tried everything and this does the trick, esp if it happens more when it's hot or your working hard.
If it just started happening, it might go away as your body gets used to the workload.
Propel is basically Gatorade. It's good for you either way.
I bought this one from Amazon (in "Used Very Good" condition) since it supports wireless charging for $20. It's been solid for the past 1.5 years and doesn't fall off with its suction cup.
Hey there. I'm in the same boat as you, quit my old job when I got a new one lined up, that one fell through so I'll be starting some side gig stuff next week.
My bf was really concerned about me doing any kind of deliveries, so I went on Amazon and found this stun gun/pepper spray combo and ordered it. I think legality of stuff like this varies based on state but if you're in a state where you can carry something like this I highly suggest it! The pepper spray is small and can go on your keychain.
Good luck out there!
I use Geo Tracker on Android. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ilyabogdanovich.geotracker&hl=en
It auto records on app launch if you want it to, otherwise you can start and stop it as desired. I just auto-start on launch, and let it run all day, then export my logs for parsing at the end of each day.
I've found it to be the most accurate tracker app for myself.
You can store multiple recording sessions. It tracks everything about your trip - speeds, stops, even elevation if you need that for some reason, lol.
You can also add pins mid-trip - I tag residential stops for easier parsing/archival.
why would you want to carry a big ass backpack? i went from back pack to milk crate.. just easier to throw stuff in there... the back pack was heavy and cumbersome, and got real tired of taking it off and on..

When you have radiant barrier in your attic there is, unless you installed it differently, an air gap on both sides. It actually reflects in both directions. Reflects heat up in the summer and reflects heat down in the winter. A better equivalent would be a bag with foil on both inside and outside, like a mylar emergency blanket (space blanket) or this type of bag: https://www.amazon.com/Insulated-Medicines-Beverage-Shipping-Container/dp/B07J233NWH/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=radiant+thermal+bag&qid=1551723357&s=gateway&sr=8-1

Why not just a metal box with a locking door-knob on it (instead of a deadbolt type latch mechanism)?

Leave it open for days when you're expecting a delivery, courier shuts it, use key to unlock it when you get home.

One of my neighbors has this already. Don't see why it needs to be re-invented.
