I'll try my best to quote Brene Brown here. I believe she would say something like "I'm feeling shame", say it out loud, shame can't live in the light. "Shame cannot survive being spoken"
These are fantastic! If you haven’t already, look up Louise Hay regarding affirmations for some additional inspiration. I have these cards that have served me well over the years!
One of my favorite books, and this is going to be an interesting one because it comes from left field:
Never Split the Difference by Chris Voss https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01COR1GM2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_EZ2QY4RT3AG3BS8NRH6G
Chris was a domestic and international hostage negotiator for 20 years with the FBI. Effective hostage negotiators must have a high level of emotional intelligence in order to save hostages. It was all to common prior to Chris Voss' time that a crises would lead to the death of hostages.
His book is purely about emotional intelligence as utilized in the real world. I gained so much from this book.

Welcome to Reddit. Most of the time it’s a crap shoot to what you will get.
Happy to help. It takes a lot to start to open up and will be hard at first. I really do think finding someone to be able to talk with will help a lot. Anger is a second emotion and has an underlining emotion causing it. It’s important to dig deep and think, what is making me feel anger, why do I feel angry. It’s good to ask these questions for all your emotions. You start to understand where these emotions are coming from and why you feel them. Accepting that you feel an emotion is important too. Ask questions, learn, and accept and slowly you will work through each thing and know how to handle emotions when they come up again.
A book that could help as well is permission to feel . Good book on being more open with your emotions and feelings
I wish you the best again.

Just take things slowly. I would personally recommend finding a therapist. Someone who isn’t going to diagnosis you to bill insurance. A therapist doesn’t need a diagnosis to bill but a psychiatrist does. However a psychiatrist can prescribe medication if you need it. In the mean time there are books I would recommend. Either read them or listen to audiobooks. Whatever books speak to you. If money is an issue you can always go to the library or use the app Overdrive. Overdrive is a free app linked to your local library.

I'm reading "Emotional Intelligence at Work" by Hendrie Weisinger, PH.D
It was recommended when my company did a team building course for my group by the teacher of the class (I honestly couldn't remember the name of the course, it was led by a professor from McGill University).
