You could pick up a pH test kit (strips) to get an idea what the pH is at. I use a cheap electronic one for my other hobby and it works really well.
You will probably need to take a spoonful and add some water in a cup to get enough liquid for the meter to read.
The electronic one works really well when I’m preparing my nutrients. I use a liquid pH up and pH down chemical to dial in a pH of 6.5

Why weren't you able to use a syringe filter? I have used them successfully to produce sterile air to aerate a 2L vessel of LC. I used this air pump
I haven't had any issues with biofilm so far. I get some hard water stains that I have to clean out every once in a while, but that's about it. My UV-C light is similar to this one and seems to be working pretty well (just suction cups to the inside of the tub).
1g caps are a nightmare. You need a tamper and some 00 size caps. Each cap of sufficiently dried and powdered mushroom will come out to around .5g. Take your mushrooms, powder them in a coffee grinder. Put on gloves and on a clean dry surface, place a bowl of this powder your tamper and a bowl of caps out. Open the caps by pulling them apart and scoop powder into the larger half with the scoop until it is half full, then tamp it gently. Do this until you reach the rim of the large cap and press fit the smaller end on. What the others were referring to in regard to mixing musies is staments found that certain mushrooms had unique interactions with P.C where they otherwise did not. In other words, nuanced effects are gained by combining certain mushrooms with it that are not present with either on their own. One of these is lions mane. My advice would be to make your caps and get some lions mane and drink a tea of it with the caps if you want to try. Also, I have a tea recipe "Mad rabbit tea" for P.C that pretty good if you want it.
My suggestion would be. (1) To get this //// (2) and this.
Yeah, fuck gnats.
These are the bags I use however you may be able to find cheaper ones. I purchased these because they had good reviews concerning their effectiveness in producing bubble hash. They make a tight seal when cinched so I use a price of cotton to fill the gap.

Perhaps you could try these granules? They're designed to be mixed with soil.
I am unaware if it is. I purchased a mix off of Amazon and I do a no-pour method and 2.5 hr steam bath in a cheap stock pot.
The containers I use are GFS PP5 food containers. Would you suggest I add something more to the mix found here? Recipe is “add 1000 ml” and prosper.

Sorry it took a bit but these are the ones I’m using
Small Mason Jars 4 oz - 12 Pack... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B096RDH3FD?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
The good news is that since they’re strictly used for agar, I literally don’t scrub/clean them. The agar comes right out, I give it a wash with some hot water, and then fill it right back up again! I’ve had fantastic results, especially after losing so many “open” Petri dishes, this really became a life saver. Granted my sterile technique was poor at the time, but between the contamination and melting in the PC, this changed my mycological life! Best of luck, let me know if I can help with anything!
I got the idea to use an immersion circulator for pasteurization from a post on another sub (will add link to the specific post).
I used a Lowe’s 5 gallon bucket and sewed together an insulated sleeve/cover (using this reflectix insulation from Lowe’s) to help maintain temps, reduce water level drop and minimize time to reach core temp in the substrate. I used waxed , heavy-grade thread and needles intended for sewing leather and canvas. The cover design is a bifold, interlocking cover on top and tension clasp along the body to hold keep it snug.
At the bottom of the bucket is an elevation tray to ensure proper room for circulation. The bags are made from 8” vacuum seal bag rolls and were cut to about 20” with a double seal on the bottom of each taking it down to about 18 inches. This leaves a lot of head room for soft-sealing them afterwards with zip ties and/or rubber bands and also ensures that they don’t slip below the water line during the run. I used digital meat thermometer probes in the center of the bags (it took about 3 hours for internal temps to hit 170 and I ran them for at 170 for 12 hours). Narrower bags were in hopes of a relatively short time to come up to internal temp. I also brought water to just below boiling on the stove before adding to bucket (start of the tiny bubble stage).
Is it the 1/4 pint wide mouth jars you used? I used some 1/2 pints for no pour before I had my flow hood, but they’re a bit too tall for my liking. I saw the 1/4 pts after I had already switched to condiment cups and disposable Petri dishes and they seemed pretty ideal.
Considering dropping $75 on a pack of 500 dishes. As much as I hate the plastic waste, I tend to burn through 30-ish plates each agar session. All that scrubbing….
Yea, glass plates are just too fragile too. Unless you really go for broke and get the Corning Pyrex, and not some Chinese knockoff.
I’ve been meaning to try something like these:
Amersumer 20Pack Round Clear Frosted Plastic Bead Storage Containers Box Case with Screw Top Lids,Cylinder Stackable Bead Containers for Make Up,Eye,Pills,Gems,Beads, Jewelry,Small Items, 2.6x1 Inches https://www.amazon.com/dp/B083HXXB34/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_P087DC23FFGXPATDJF5Z?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
At one point I had found some screw top containers like that but a bit closer to 120mm, PP5 and thin. Lost track of the specific listing, but I had seen a post on Reddit or the shroomery that reported some success with that style of container.
small air purifier filter - fixed two together in the “prefilter” position
I bought the filtrete 2800 at Lowe’s. The linked filters are small so I fixed two together and used them as a “prefilter” with a low rating filter between those two and the filtrete (the idea was to reduce dead space in the middle due to the joining of the two filters). I don’t have dead space so either that worked or it was unnecessary, lol 🤷♀️.
Sorry for delayed response. They are in-fact 2oz portion cups. They don't like a pc higher than 11 but they are a nice way to do a no pour tek. Don't pc at 15.
Use these as filters. They work great. You can resuse them too, I just suggest changing them every other PC or so.

This post git me thinking of different types of tools that you could use to cut out contamination. First thing that came to my mind was a biscuit cutter.

Ziplock twstnlocks Are pressure cooker safe and easy to modify for your pressure cooker. as seen. This is another old shroomery TEK that we have been using in this sub now for a bit and I thought I would show off my version since brobot showed his earlier.
