OOTD: jeans, boots, Reverb shirt, jacket. Nothing crazy because I'm super tired.
PPOTD: Dante screaming about not enough pets or too many pets or how the puppy is chasing him or how only giving him two wet foods and a pile of dry cat food is starving him to death or whatever the hell else is wrong in his little kitty life before quietly accepting his fate.
Thanks! I notice we are both rocking the "office bathroom" setting in some of our photos. :)
I actually tried to add a little color - the tights are actually these blue gradient tights from Amazon. I find that wearing one unit of color per day keeps people from thinking I'm a serial killer. :) I'm hoping to get the gray-black variety soon (gray is totally a color, right?)!
I'm trying out these micro loop hair extensions. $13 on Amazon, human hair, reviews say they hold up for about a month if you put them in tightly. I took them to my hairdresser yesterday when I went to get a trim but she hadn't seen this kind before and wasn't comfortable putting them in -- fair enough, she's got her professional reputation on the line. I went home and my partner and I put them in using a 30-second YouTube video and a standard pair of pliers. But then I had to trim them so they fit with the rest of my hair, and I've never cut my own hair before except for a few desperate, ill-fated bangs trimmings! Turns out layers are a thing? Texturizing? Lots to learn!
Here are some pictures of the process, it's not bad for my first attempt! I think next time I'll place them lower, currently some of the fastener beads are occasionally exposed depending on how my hair is sitting. Also, I'll probably add more.
If I can get this to work, it could be a cheap, non-damaging alternative to hair dye.
I found a thing I need to make. I want to get a sewing machine again. I never got to use the last one, I think I've mentioned. But this is exactly the type of thing I need: http://pinterest.com/pin/206321226660127890/?source_app=android
So sorry it's a Pinterest link. The article has ways to wear it, too.
Favorite print...either stripes (as in black and white), or houndstooth, or abstract kind of paint splatter type prints. That is what is mostly represented pattern-wise in my closet.
This top is not exactly what I am thinking of, but it is the closest I could find that has the coveted neckline I'm searching for in a top. It's kind of like a sweetheart neckline, but not exactly?
Most frustrating thing this week was probably angry and demanding parents of patients at work (in the pediatric emergency room). Our hospital has been completely full for the last several weeks (it's that time of year, unfortunately) and even though we warn people that there is a significant wait for most things because of how busy it has been, some people just don't understand that their child with a mild cough who's giggling and running around our waiting room doesn't get rushed back like the actively seizing baby. end rant
Thank you :D
I'm really trying to experiment more with my makeup, and do some things that aren't just "pretty". I'd love to be able to recreate some of Dom's looks, but...I don't think I'm that talented, lol.
I was wondering what song you would pick!!
I've been trying to think of what direction I want the interpretation to take - interpret the words or the title or the mood? Abstract or literal? WHAT?!?
I don't have a strong "favorite type" of music, so I might just think about my favorite songs and go from there. See what's at the top of my list after a random shuffle.
Also, have y'all seen this amazing musical genres map? I was going to share it with the sub and I totally forgot. But now I have to go include it in the contest post brb.
I've been adjusting to school slowly and pretty well; figured out the train + bus schedules, the gym hours, the studio hours. Getting excited to wear pants again omg. Big bummer, I realized that a pair of corduroy leggings that are comfy and well-fitting and cute smell atrocious when I wear them glares at polyester content I guess my mom lucks out.
I bought a pair of overalls from amazon (these) and I'm not sure if I'm keeping them.
Pros: they fit my butt+thighs, they're long enough to cuff, they're baggy/loose in the leg, they're 100% cotton, they're heavy weight, there's room for long johns, they're $30, they're that classic color+shape.
Cons: the waist seems to flare out oddly, the front bib is pretty wide and weird on my boobs, the straps might be a tad too long, they're very stiff, like canvas almost.
This is the second pair of overalls I've bought (returned the first, they were boys xl and comically too short in the torso and tight in the butt).
Additional considerations: they will shrink/soften up if I wash them and wear them, and I'm bloated af right now, so I'll wait for another week to make a decision.
Indulge me and fold your pants up one more time, if you can without the tops of the socks showing. I think the proportion of the pants might have a slight newsboy feel if you do that.
Also, try 82 Days on Amazon. I have a couple of items from them I really like. (But I adore thin rayon and viscose.)
OOTD: Jeans, black shirt, fun belt, favorite shoes, and CHRISTMAS EARRINGS. <3
[PPOTD](https://www.instagram.com/p/-4AwCBA7Aq/?taken-by=pantherchild0: actually a video! Lucy (who we got 4 years ago as of yesterday!) and Taco playing tug. Lucy is a bird dog mix so she has a really soft mouth. Taco has been teaching her how to play tug. <3
Ugh, work is insane. Silly e-commerce and holidays. Today my desk was pre-birthday bombed since I won't be in closer to my birthday on Saturday. I'm going to Portland for the weekend (I work out of another office the back part of the week) and I'm getting excited! Still no OOTD photos, I got dressed today but haven't had a minute to myself!
Oh, take that back kind of an OOTD sitting down at my desk. Forgot about instragram.
Oh my...
I need all the jewelry. Yes. ALL.
Also, that jumpsuit. It's funny you posted it, because I found one very similar on amazon the other day & couldn't decide if I loved it or hated it, haha. I'm leaning towards love.
Not an artist, but trying to get back into it. One of my favorite cartoonists, Danielle Corsetto, is basically offering her illustrations class that she is teaching at a college through her Patreon for $20 per month (started in January, but you should have access to the class info) and runs through April. If it is something you are interested in, you can get more info here (PS I'm not getting paid to promote her class or anything I'm just a fan who is enjoying it)
Take a look at this diagram for contour. That line down to the chin from the cheekbone contour is really important for the masculine contour. I'll do that very lightly, and also pay attention to the temples and putting some product along my jaw to define it a bit.

I got a set of slip on ear cuffs (one pair polished steel and one pair black) in the mail yesterday. They are very comfortable ear cuffs that stays on snugly at the helix. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01LX1Z7B6/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
((I started writing this yesterday but went to bed and forgot until now!!!))
My grandma reminded me my birthday is next month, so I'm making a wishlist on Amazon for her (she wants to get me THINGS and not a gift card, but only things I want, bless her). I know I want to add more Supernatural Hunter meets Librarian stuff to my look but I'm so into the all black/tiny pop of color thing I've got going. And I'm loving the textures of some things (I want velvety thigh highs) but I'm ~plus size~ so I'm scared to order anything one size (especially socks! I wear size 11-12 women shoes). I'm just having a Hard Time choosing some inexpensive pieces to ask for, but I'm definitely adding the Blowfish sandals I like to my list.
I had never heard about Blowfish until my wife and I found some sandals at TJMaxx that reminded us of a Peter Pan look! And now that I'm looking through, I'm eyeing these cuties, maybe for my birthday next month.
But those black and white creepers are so cute!
Thanks! I dyed it blue again but without bleach. I'll have to get back to you with the brand name. It's German. It's sticking really well though!
Hair dye link It's called directions and it's from the UK apparently. I did midnight blue and next time I'm going to switch it up to Atlantic blue
I just read a story last night about silk moth women! Very disturbing though. It's the second story in this collection if you're interested.
A dark plum lip could look really good as well if you wanted to add a tiny bit of colour. Something really dark and vampy.
I could also see some silver jewellery really adding to it, possibly a long necklace with geometric shapes like this maybe?
I got it on Amazon but unfortunately the one I am wearing doesn't seem to be listed at the moment :(
One of the best things I ever bought! The important part is the UV. I don't know how that works or if it's even legit but I don't get sunburned so it must work!
1) I'm actually wearing it in the static picture. I don't put it over any sort of base most days, I just pat it onto my lid with an "all over" shadow brush and buff it out just past my crease. It looks slightly darker on the lid then becomes a nice soft, warm brown as it's blended out. It's one of the best "single color" shadows I own.
2) The polish is Orly "Mysterious Curse" from the Dark Shadows collection. It's still available on Amazon, but Royal Velvet is the exact same color for less :)
Lovely! BPAL seems more esoteric than regular companies, and that flavor is definitely something that draws me to them. I should probably have started with something easier, but the notes copy makes it that much more fun. In terms of consistency, that is definitely an issue that I haven't thought about yet!!
I went into this thinking that I loved amber notes because for years I've worn Nemat's Amber White thinking that was what "true amber essential oil" smelled like. Now I realize, no such thing, it's just a wonderful blend that evokes amber. And now I find that amber notes (and musk, a bit) turn to baby powder on me.
So I'm not trying to recreated Amber White (which is still available, though apparently it's diluted to the point that it sucks now), but find something that can be my signature scent. I've found a couple that I really love from BPAL, but they're all over the board in terms of categories: green herbal dirt with wine; grassy amber with leather (it works, though!); irish coffee and oak; martini; this Nag Champa one... I still have a mental block against florals, but I'm game apart from that!
I will definitely check out your reviews, as well as those other companies. I started by wanting to pick out a signature, goth-flavored scent, but now I'm getting really interested in learning notes. :)
Hats!!
I just recently bought my very first hat that I actually enjoy! I ordered this from Amazon and I've fallen in love with it. I call it my Winona Ryder hat. It's great for the summer heat, and protects my sad, pale, Irish skin. Every once in a while I'll clip feathers or silk flowers to the band and it's really cute. It's also pretty versatile for more 'normal' days.
cheap and wide: Breckelles brand-(I have these and another style-they fit great) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FGYQLLM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 These are cheap so they don't last forever though
not too pricey and fit great-all Clarks fit great-get wide width though: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00TUCBFNK/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
naturalizer also have wide comfy shoes
I've done a little shopping lately, both for fashion and home. Took advantage of a 30% off Torrid coupon to get some pewter-wash jeggings. Since I'm short, they don't fit like crops on me. Heh.
Ordered some perfume from Blooddrop, which I can't wait to get!
Got a new lighter duvet cover from Amazon, which I adore.
Also, ordered Bananas Foster coffee. Yum!
Thank you very much! That necklace is actually silver, though. It's the light making it look a gold. I almost never wear gold jewelry.
You find holographic heels by searching and searching and being very obsessive about it. I was able to find holographic shoes and sneakers pretty easily, but actual pumps were difficult. The high-end designers I can't afford had a holographic leather moment about two years ago, and it eventually trickled down to the mid-range designers I can afford secondhand and on clearance.
I'm ridiculously picky, though -- I had to have real leather because PU leather tears up my skin, and they had to be closed-toe pumps. This pair was a used Pierre Hardy set I found on TheRealReal. They honestly looked terrible in the picture, but in person you don't notice the wear hardly at all.
Luckily, if you're interested in getting some for yourself, I've done the legwork! Here are real leather closed-toe sandals with a holographic front, and here are holographic pumps in PU leather for just $31!
Just fyi, I found these a while ago on Amazon that look super similar to the Ann D ones for a fraction of the cost. I have another pair of boots from this brand, and the quality is pretty great for the price. Oh, /u/MrsRevShamwow might wanna check 'em out, too ;)
EDIT: Also, I freaking LOVE your outfit and hair! And I'm jealous of how editorial your fit pic looks. Mine are....well....shit, haha.
Steampunk is such a weird look in that it's really complicated! I feel like it's harder to 'tone down' than a lot of other styles.
And, Amazon. I picked up this one in black a while back. The whole look is amazing, but the best part is that the little top piece is removable, so I can wear just that over a tank top or a normal long sleeve shirt. It adds a little steampunk-y-ness to a normal outfit. I think this skirt might be a good piece too!
These boots. Not crazy expensive, but more than I can afford for a single item right now. I'm also lusting over many, many plaid dresses. I love the look and idea of dresses, I just never manage to wear them when I buy them.
Those are super cool!! I love ones with a lot of detail and realism mixed with goofiness, so this one ended up being perfect! It has some blank space too, to draw in your own shit. I really love it.
I'm on mobile, but I just searched up "spine heels" on Amazon and these came up. The seller is called Show Story.
EDIT: Here's a direct link: http://www.amazon.com/Show-Story-High-top-Platform-LF40601BK38/dp/B00GQVPPHA/ref=aag_m_pw_dp?ie=UTF8&m=A2MBOAI5UV8B04
I decided to go with these fakies with this glue. What do you think of that combo? I love my nails long but have never shaped them. I figure if I don't like them I'll set them aside for costuming and for doing friends' nails.
edit I haven't bought anything yet and I won't be able to for awhile, so I'm open to other suggestions.
I got it off Amazon! I wanted the red/black one, but it wasn't in my size so I got the black. I liked the white a lot as well.
Thank you! Right now I use Rock Your Hair daily and then there's something else that's actually nicer that I use when I want to make sure it's going nowhere ever. Can't remember the name tho.
Thanks! Antigav is one of my favorite silhouettes!
Man I have been lemming over iridescent/oil slick stuff for a while but have never managed to purchase anything (aside from nail polish). I really, really want some shoes though. I found a pedestrian version yesterday, also in lightish silver.
My first two garage kits are arriving in the mail today! I can't wait to get started, but I don't know how far I should get before I pack it all up to move.
And since I'll be cooking for my sister and I soon I totally need a 1,500 page Italian cookbook, right?
Aw- thanks! I think soft/light eye makeup just goes better with the short hair, and I have a ton of neutral shadows so...
If it helps you steal the idea better, it's this tray- it was like, $9 at Meijer. It's nice to have it all in one place finally. Now I just need to find a neater way to organize my brushes.
So scary. :(
MRE's are a cliche but fantastic choice for a go bag. I would add water purification tablets, thermal blanket (the silver folded kind), a multitool (like a leatherman or gerber), and a first aid kit. My first aid kits always include Celox cause the husband's on blood thinners.
It's also a fantastic idea to keep some of this stuff in your car--my glovebox usually has most of this stuff (I need to replace some of it!) just in case.
/u/MrsRevShamwow may be able to answer your alteration question!
Plain black leather smoking slippers are harder to find than I would've thought, lol.
I found these Aerosoles ones on amazon, and these suede J Crew ones. I think the J Crew ones are more visually similar, but the material is different :/
As promised, here is my Pastel Goth version of the Boss from Saints Row the Third. Inspired by you guys, of course!
Also, going out yesterday to shop locally was a bad idea. I couldn't find anything that fit anywhere, even at the plus-sized stores! I was so discouraged I wanted to cry in the car. But there is a silver lining around this rainbow, and I wound up snagging the very last pair of these boots that a user here recommended to me in a size eight. So score! I can't wait to try them on. :D
I was hoping to go to the botanical gardens this weekend, but I'm not sure if that's going to happen. Even though the main thing I'd be going there for is inside a greenhouse, I would like to walk around the grounds some while I'm there and it's still too cold for me.
I had been reading a book for a history class I was taking, but I dropped that shit because I couldn't take the stress it was putting on me. So now I'm back to Assimilate: a Critical History of Industrial Music by S. Alexander Reed. I've liked industrial music since middle school, and I really like learning about the origins of it.
It was white and gold the first time I saw it, but then I got drunk last night and saw it as blue and black and now I can't see it as anything but blue and black. I don't know what happened.
Ack! Fell asleep last night before doing this. Caliban and the Witch: Women, the Body and Primitive Accumulation.
I also ordered the more highly reviewed of the translations of Malleus Maleficarum because I wanted to do some primary source reading :)
I really want these boots that u/Angelshavethetardis linked ...but ugh money is suddenly a butt right now :/
I honestly can't remember >.<
