1. 5000 >!The Rochester Hotel. I went outside and noticed mentions of Durango on the parking meters. This definitely looked like Colorado, and I found the Rochester in downtown Durango.!<
2. 4999 >!The Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum. Near the entrance, there was a banner inviting visitors to visit downtown McMinnville, Oregon... I found McMinnville, and I found the museum there. I lost a point here, the photoset was a bit off + I probably guessed too far west within the museum.!<
3. 5000 >!Durty Gurt's, a rather peculiar burger restaurant. I found a mention of Illinois on a license near the entrance, and I noticed that two neighbouring shops were named "Galena", prompting me to look for a town named like this. I found it in the northwestern corner of the state, and I easily spotted Durty Gurt's downtown.!<
4. 5000 >!A watch- and clock-themed museum. I explored the venue and eventually found out it was the National Watch and Clock Museum- I have it in my World Interiors map, and I remembered it being in Columbia, PA... but I still needed a while to find Columbia! As soon as I spotted the city, I found the museum within it- it can be seen at a high zoom level.!<
5. 5000 >!RideNow Powersport on Boulder, a dealership selling offroad motorbikes and quad bikes. I found some posters with the dealership's full address: as the store's name suggested, we were along Boulder Hwy, in Las Vegas, NV. I easily spotted the highway (unsurprisingly, it was the road leading to Boulder City), and I patiently scanned it until I found the dealership. I then guessed near the western entrance to the store.!<

MINT: 25000, beautiful city!

1. 5000 >!A very downtown-looking location. I started along Melville St, between the junctions with Bute St and Thurlow St... we were right in the middle of downtown but I still needed a while to find the right road, as I missed it at first (it doubled as highway 1A).!<
2. 5000 >!An industrial district. I went north and reached a major E-W road- SE Marine Dr. I went east, and soon reached the junction with Fraser St. I figured I'd look for this road along the Fraser River and sure enough I found it there. I found the junction with Marine Dr, and I guessed to the southwest of that intersection, at the junction near the northwestern corner of the large Direct Tap warehouse.!<
3. 5000 >!I went south and I soon found mentions of Richmond on lamppost banners. I was along a major road, Granville Ave, which I found fairly quickly. There was a recognizable curve west of where I was, which helped me find the right area fast: I guessed north of Granville Ave, along Lynas Ln, south of the junction with Garrison Rd.!<
4. 5000 >!I started near the parking lot of Queen Elizabeth Park. I noticed E-W road were around the 30s, and this helped me find the park quickly by using the numbering grid. I guessed near the northern end of the straight line to the east of the park.!<
5. 5000 >!Another numbered road that made for a easy pinpoint- 10th St this time. I started west of the junction with Highbury St, I had plenty of time to scan the 10th until I found this intersection. I guessed three houses to the east of the junction with Wallace Cres.!<

1. 5000 >!The large Aulick Industries warehouse. I reached the front office, where I found mentions of Scottsbluff and Nebraska on certificates on the wall. Outside the entrance, there was a mention of "730 Ave I". I found Scottsbluff and I found Ave I within it; I found several Aulick buildings along it, but I recognized the right one thanks to its shape, its size and its surroundings.!<
2. 5000 >!Home Sweet Home, a old home turned into a museum. I found mentions of NY and East Hampton on signs and fliers within the venue, and I can locate East Hampton on Long Island; I found Home Sweet Home there, along the main road through the village.!<
3. 5000 >!The Avenue Waterfront Grille restaurant. I couldn't find clues inside, but outside I spotted a sign mentioning both Roanoke Island and the North Carolina Aquarium. I found Roanoke within NC, and I found the restaurant in the main settlement on the island, Manteo.!<
4. 5000 >!Bacon Sails and Marine Supplies. I found a poster with the store's full address near the entrance of the rear storage room: Legion Ave, Annapolis, MD. All I had to do was scan the city until I spotted the road and the shop.!<
5. 5000 >!Planet Marfa, a lovely beer garden. There were many mentions of Marfa, Texas and the Big Bend on posters around the venue, and from the outdoor shots I could see I was along US90. I found Marfa along this highway, and spotted Planet Marfa within it.!<

1. 5000 >!McKenzie's Burger Garage, a weird diner x garage combo. I noticed many Oklahoma souvenirs on sale, and after scanning the venue for a bit, I found an old-timey ad placing me in Lawton. From the exterior shots I could see I was along 2nd St... and as always, this was very helpful as numbered roads are easy to find.!<
2. 5000 >!The lobby of a hotel. I recognized the Hyatt logo on signs. Spanish was the prominent language, so I was probably in Puerto Rico... but I needed a while to narrow it down further! I eventually noticed a mention of Bayamón on a LED sign above the casino next door, and I spotted this town near San Juan. I could see I was along a highway, so I scanned all major motorways along Bayamón and I eventually spotted the hotel.!<
3. 5000 >!Sparky's Landing, a bar. There were plenty of awards naming this place as "best in Marathon", and I also found a newspaper clipping calling it "real Keys". I found Marathon within the Key islands, and after some scanning, I spotted Sparky's Landing too.!<
4. 5000 >!The National Mustard Museum, gotta love these small quirky places. There were several mentions of Middleton, WI, on signs and souvenirs, and a "Madison" sticker on the entrance door helped me find this town near the state's capital. As I zoomed on Middleton, the museum instantly popped up.!<
5. 5000 >!The Stroud Mall. I found an ad for a business in Stroudsburg, PA, in the food court; I scanned Pennsylvania and I quickly found this town. The mall was also easy to spot, west of the city centre.!<

Looking at the leaderboard before play me map makes me very nervous. Only one perfect score so far! But I'll give it a go. (Since this isn't a challenge round, I'm not going to use spoiler tags on my round summaries)

R1 - Not too bad. On a residential street, but the nearest intersection is easy to find on the map. Almost messed up the pinpoint but was close enough to get 5k.

R2 - I'm on the road that runs along the southern coast. Just a matter of finding the nearest intersection, then counting houses to get the right spot.

R3 - Smack dab in the middle of suburbia! Had to navigate my way out to a larger road, which was 8e Avenue, which apparently exists in two different places on the island, and I spent a while searching around the wrong one. Got there eventually.

R4 - Back on the coast, this time on the east side of the island. And not particularly close to an intersection. So I had to resort to counting houses again, but this time I messed up the count and was 63 yards off, so I lost my perfect score.

R5 - Not exactly sure where I am, but the closest road sign is for 142e, which I remember from searching along the south coast in R2, so I was able to get it pretty easily.

24795 in 10min 55sec. With some more practice I think I could get the fastest 25k on this map. The island looks beautiful, albeit probably quite cold most of the year!

I've never been to Arlington, but I have a friend who lives there, so I've been meaning to visit!

R1 - >!I find Quincy St. right away and from the buildings I assume I'm somewhere in the main part of town. So I zoom into the map and right away see Quincy St and think to myself "oh man, this map is going to be easy!" Then of course I had found NORTH Quincy St and I'm on SOUTH Quincy St. So I had to navigate in street view a bit more. Made it to Arlington Mill Dr, which appeared to curve along a park or a river, so I searched for a landmark like that and eventually found the right spot.!<

R2 - >!Normally when there's a "9th Street" it's very easy to figure out the numbered grid and find the street. But Arlington seems all over the place with their numbered grid and it wasn't easy. Made my way to the larger street of Fairfax and found that on the map.!<

R3 - >!Really easy round for me in Arlington National Cemetery. There is a map called United States Famous Places which I grinded for a bit to get as fast a 25k as possible, eventually getting under 1 min, and this exact location was one of the spots on that map.!< (Link to the map referenced)

R4 - >!Another one where I'm like "oh we're in central downtown Arlington! This is gonna be easy!" But where the map says "Arlington" apparently isn't the downtown business district, so it took me a while to find.!<

R5 - >!Would have done better if I realized that this was on south 12th St right away instead of wasting my time further north. But in the end not too hard.!<

25000 in 10min 26sec. I could definitely improve on that time with a bit of practice. Thanks for sharing!

R1 - >!At 17th and High. The street grid makes it pretty easy to find. I moved a bit to get a few other street names to make sure, but I found it pretty quick.!<

R2 - >!Right next to the state capitol! Confirmed the spot based on the intersection to the east.!<

R3 - >!Street grid to the rescue. Just followed 12th street east from downtown until I found St. Paul St.!<

R4 - >!Uh-oh, a photosphere. But this one is at the zoo, and the POI for Tropical Discovery is pretty obvious.!<

R5 - >!Man, another photosphere? It's clear this is at the botanical gardens, though, and I can tell that the lake to the south is kind of horse-shoe shaped, which made it pretty easy to find.!<

Actually improved my time on a perfect score for this map!

1. 5000 >!Apollo, a Greek restaurant. There were leaflets for Alaskan tourist attractions near the entrance, and a big mention of Seward on a poster. I easily found the restaurant in downtown Seward. The POI was on the wrong building (or were the pictures a bit misplaced? I'm struggling to tell) but still close enough for a perfect score.!<
2. 5000 >!Ekim Orthodontics. There was a poster near the entrance with two different addresses for this business... but thanks to the house number above the entrance, I knew I was at the 16190 Erie Ave office in Prior Lake, MN. I found this village near Minneapolis, and I didn't need long to find the dentist within it.!<
3. 5000 >!Bobby D's BBQ restaurant. There were mentions of "Jerome" in the restaurant's website and on merchandise on sale, and from the porch I could see a marker for AZ89A. I found this road in central Arizona and I found Jerome along it. Again, pinpointing wasn't an issue as it's a small village.!<
4. 5000 >!The Telephone Pioneer Museum, a museum about the history of telecommunications. I noticed several mentions of Tacoma, WA, on newspaper clippings and old posters, and two of them mentioned South 9th and Fawcett. I zoomed on Tacoma, I found two roads named like that, and found the museum at their intersection.!<
5. 5000 >!Wheels Through Time, a transportation museum with many vintage motorcycles on display. A trailer outside had a mention of Maggie Valley, NC, and the setting clearly gave the Appalachian part of the state away. I easily spotted Maggie Valley there, and like round #3 it was a pretty small village where the museum stood out.!<

1. 5000 >!The Caterpillar company museum. It was a pretty big venue so I needed a while to explore it, but once I got to the main lobby, I quickly found multiple mentions of Peoria, IL. I needed a while, but I eventually spotted the Caterpillar Visitors Centre within the city.!<
2. 5000 >!Forever Books, a bookstore. A sign near the entrance advertised the meet-and-greet with an author of a book about Lake Michigan, and I could see blurry mentions of St. Joseph and Benton Harbor. I scanned the shores of Lake Michigan and found those two towns next to each other, in Michigan. The shop next door was named after State St; I spotted this road downtown and found the POI for the library along it. I guessed to the west of it, though, as all the other POIs made me realize it was a bit misplaced.!<
3. 5000 >!A museum about WWII. I reached a conference room where I found its full name and location on a sign: the Wright Museum in Wolfeboro, NH. I easily spotted the town within the state, and the museum stood out on the map as it is one of the main attractions in the area.!<
4. 5000 >!The SeaGalley restaurant. Mentions of Alaska within the store threw me off at first, but then I noticed a poster for an event in Yakima, WA, near the entrance. I scanned Yakima looking for the restaurant, and I eventually found it in the commercial district. The Denny's across the street confirmed it was the right place.!<
5. 5000 >!The Houghton Physical Therapy gym. There was a basketball shirt from a team named "Attleboro" on a wall, and a mention of Massachusetts on a license near the entrance. From the sign above the front door, I knew I was at 80 Park St; all I had to do was find Attleboro within MA, and once I did, I quickly spotted Park St within it- as well as our venue.!<

1. 5000 >!The Corners Mansion Inn, a beautiful inn in an old house. I found several mentions of Vicksburg and Mississippi on posters and brochures in the rear part of the building. I found the city within the state and I scanned it until I found the inn.!<
2. 5000 >!A venue hosting both a froyo parlor, MySwirl, and a Mexican restaurant, 3 Amigos. In the restaurant part, I found a blurry mention of North Dakota on a license, and a mention of "delivery in the Williston area" on a sign above the counter. From the window, I could see a sign placing us along Main St. I found Williston within North Dakota, I found Main St within it and I just scanned this road until I spotted the restaurant.!<
3. 5000 >!The Mayo Performing Arts Centre. Near the bar, I found mentions of Morristown and Northern New Jersey on a banner. I quickly spotted Morristown in northern NJ, and I found the theatre downtown.!<
4. 5000 >!The Ocean Mist beach bar. It was plastered with posters for concerts and other events, and I found the venue's address on one of them: Matunuck Beach Rd, Wakefield, RI. I really struggled to find Wakefield within RI, despite it being such a small state... I eventually spotted the POI for Matunuck Beach and found the bar nearby. Wakefield was a bit more inland, plus you have to zoom in really close to see its name, that's why I was missing it.!<
5. 5000 >!A museum about the Brown v. Board of Education ruling, hosted in the former school where the case originated. I didn't know where it was, but I noticed plenty of mentions of Topeka, and I instantly spotted the museum as I zoomed on the city, it pops out as one of the main tourist attractions in the city.!<

1. 5000 >!Red Ginger, a Japanese restaurant. There was a poster for the Iowa Hawkeyes behind the counter and a shop named after Coralville on the other side of the road. I scanned IA looking for a town named like that and I found it in the greater Des Moines area. I looked for the restaurant in commercial areas and I didn't need long to find it.!<
2. 5000 >!The Glore Psychiatric Museum. A repeat for me, but I only remembered it being in Missouri somewhere. I quickly spotted a mention of St. Joseph on a sign though, and as I zoomed on this city I instantly spotted the museum as it is a major tourist attraction.!<
3. 5000 >!Bike Line, a bike store. A sign near the entrance named it "Delaware Valley's premier bicycle stores" and black license plates in the neighbourhood suggested Delaware state indeed. From a lamppost banner I gathered we were in Newark, a city I quickly spotted; pinpointing was a bit tricky as the store has changed name now, but I recognized the right building thanks to the Ski Bum store to the north.!<
4. 5000 >!Billy T's Northside Dairy Bar. There were t-shirts on sale bearing mentions of Bennington VT, a town I easily spotted. I could see I was close to the Best Western hotel and a junction between two state roads, which helped me find the bar quickly.!<
5. 5000 >!Andy's Pub, a pool bar. I found several mentions of Erie, PA, in the basement level, but I struggled to find the venue within the city... until I realized that I could see the house number by the entrance: 3866, which suggested I was somewhere to the south of 38th St. I scanned this road until I found the pub- a TOPS drugstore and a Little Caesar nearby helped me notice the right building.!<

1. 5000 >!The Salty Pelican Bar & Grill. The doormat by the main entrance had a mention of Amelia Island, FL, and a "JAX" sticker on the door helped me find this island quickly near Jacksonville. From the porch I could see we were along the western coast of the island, and this helped me find the bar quickly.!<
2. 5000 >!The National Baseball Hall of Fame! I have this in my World Interiors map :) but I only recalled it being somewhere in upstate NY. I quickly gathered mentions of Cooperstown from panels around the venue; I found this town and I instantly spotted the museum within it. Pinpointing was very easy as we were at a very distinct place within the venue.!<
3. 5000 >!The General Hart House, headquarters of the Old Saybrook Historical Society. I loosely recalled Old Saybrook being in CT, and indeed I found a mention of Connecticut on a lawn sign outside. I only found a POI for "Old Saybrook Historical Society", but the intersections nearby and the shapes of the surrounding houses made it clear it was the right place.!<
4. 5000 >!Roadie Joe's Bar & Grill. The photo agency, "Delmarva Aerial Photography", was a big clue; then, on the opposite side of the road, there was a building for "Salisbury University". I checked the Delmarva peninsula and I found Salisbury there; I zoomed on the downtown area and found Roadie Joe.!<
5. 4999 >!The Air Zoo, a massive museum about air and space exploration. I needed a while to crack this one, because the place was huge! From the exhibits it was pretty clear we were in Michigan, but it was only at the gift shop that I finally gathered a mention of Kalamazoo, from a t-shirt. The map was very accurate, so I could place my pin where we started- at the "Dare to Dream Exhibit", in the museum's eastern wing. Alas the photoset was a bit off, so I lost one point here.!<

We can create training seeds on demand if people want that, specially if they don't have pro, or have "hidden" maps. Your Nijmegen map is curated and you can just train any of these maps for instance. As for your other map, that one is public.

1. 5000 >!From the start I went east and I reached the junction with a major road, where signs pointed towards US15, US501, NC54 and the UNC hospital. I found the roads intersecting near Durham, and I found the UNC hospital in nearby Chapel Hill. I recognized the junction where I was and I guessed to the southwest of it, along Culbreth Rd, to the west of Culbreth Middle School.!<
2. 4314 >!I got lost in this neighbourhood, I struggled to find a main road to latch on and I wasted a lot of time before reaching a major E-W road, along which I found a sign for US401. I scanned this highway as fast as I could and I eventually guessed in Fayetteville as I had seen a Ford dealership named Lafayette. A bit of a stretch but it was indeed the right city, although I was nearly 8 kms off.!<
3. 5000 >!A much easier round as signs had the Mooresville city logo, and I quickly found this place. Pinpointing was also an easy task as I was on a road running parallel to rail tracks, west of an important junction, in front of a Whataburger restaurant.!<
4. 5000 >!From the start I reached a major E-W road a couple of blocks to the south of the start, and I found a sign in memory of Charles H. Darden which mentioned Wilson. I found this city and I found the road I was on- Nash St SE. I started a couple of blocks to the north of this road, in front of the Amazing Grace church.!<
5. 151 >!An embarassing mistake to wrap things up. I started in a commercial district, and I eventually reached the junction between NC127 and 1st Ave SE, where I found what looked like the city logo for "Kenworth". I also spotted a route marker pointing towards I-40. I wasted a lot of time looking for Kenworth along I-40 but I failed to find it... as it doesn't exist :( we were actually in Hickory, and I had seen this name on a couple of businesses, but I stupidly ignored it.!<

1. 5000 >!I struggled a bit here at first, but I eventually started to notice mentions of Brescia on ads. I started a few blocks to the south of the rail tracks, at a junction to the south of a large CONAD supermarket, which I was able to find.!<
2. 5000 >!I got a strong Roman vibe, and indeed I noticed phone numbers starting with 06, which is Rome's prefix. I started on a road with tram tracks to the north of Piazzale Flaminio: I know Flaminio is a neighbourhood in northern Rome, but I needed a while to find the square within it. Once I did, I guessed along Via Flaminia, to the north of it, in front of a market.!<
3. 5000 >!The car parked next to us had a Ferrara address, and we started right by the main railway station in the city, at the western end of Via Orsini.!<
4. 5000 >!I started a few blocks to the west of the sea. Going south along the main road in this area I noticed a service van with the Messina football club logo, meaning we were most likely in that city. I scanned the coastal area of the city until I spotted the road I started on- Via Napoli: I guessed a couple of houses to the north of the junction with Via Lombardia.!<
5. 4999 >!I was strongly suspecting Genova for the way this city looked, and eventually I found mentions of the city on signs. We started on the eastern bank of a stream, so I checked the city and found a good match by the Polcevera river- I recognized an Iveco dealership. I was a bit hasty in pinpointing, and this cost me a perfect game :(!<

A bit sad as >!I hoped to get a perfect score in my home country and I only missed by one point... and I was supposed to visit Rome during these holidays but I had to cancel my plans because of the omicron variant so round 2 had to suffice.!<

Hi, I'd like to give the qualification a try, just to see how good/bad I am at this, never played a competition before, but I like the moving and pinpointing games.. Wanted to ask a few questions beforehand:

- I didn't quite understood if recording the game is optional or mandatory for the qualification rounds.

- When/How will we be notified of the next qualification rounds?

- Considering the challenges are on regular maps, are they entirely randomly picked, or are they vetted to be 25K-able?

1. 5000 >!I started along Woodland Cres, a residential road north of a bay. I reached the waterfront, headed west and found multiple businesses named after Harbour Grace. I spotted this town to the northwest of St. John's and I quickly spotted Woodland Cres. We started to the west of a large empty lot.!<
2. 4925 >!A residential road. I went east and I reached the junction with a highway- it looked like we were at the southern end of a town. I decided to go south, hoping to quickly find a "welcome" sign of some sort; after a while I found a sign placing me at the edge of Torbay, north of St. John's. I didn't have time to pinpoint accurately and I couldn't remember the name of the road where we started, so I had to go with a conservative guess south of Torbay.!<
3. 5000 >!Broken coverage once again... but after reaching a dead-end, I started clicking around and I managed to teleport to a nearby junction, where Street View worked almost fine. Not far from there, I found two mentions of Deer Lake in the names of two businesses: I quickly spotted this town and I recognized the intersection I was at thanks to a Shoppers store. I started to the east of it, near the southern end of Thomey Pl.!<
4. 5000 >!I started to the west of the town centre, where I found multiple mentions of Stephenville. I found this town in the western part of Newfoundland and I guessed to the southwest of the shopping district, at the western end of Prince Rupert Dr.!<
5. 5000 >!Easy finale as we started close to a highway interchange- signs placed us along the Trans-Canadian Hwy, between Grand Falls and Gander, at the junction with the access road to Bishop's Falls. The interchange near the city centre didn't fit, but I found a perfect match a few kms to the south. I guessed along Dominic St, to the southeast of the exit.!<

GOAT: 21355. My internet connection was terrible for most of the day, and the movement bug certainly didn't help :/

1. 5000 >!I quickly reached the major junction between Hope St and Chestnut St, where I found a mention of Bristol on a lamppost banner. 2. 2746 >!This bad round was due to being forced to move very slow... but still, I also took some wrong turns, it would've been doable. I had no idea where I was, and I ended up going with an uninspired guess in downtown Providence. We were in nearby Pawtucket.!<
3. 3609 >!I started one block to the east of a major N-S avenue, Newport Ave. Again, the slow connection made me waste a lot of time before getting to a mention of Pawtucket on a sign... but once I knew where I was, it was 100% my fault I completely missed Newport Ave, which actually was US1A. I went with a conservative guess on the city.!<
4. 5000 >!I waited a while until the connection got a bit better. I started at the southern end of Morris Rd, a residential road; at the other end of the road I found the junction with a major parkway, and I soon found a marker for RI114. I went east and I spotted a mention of Woonsocket on a school bus. I found this town, I found RI114 within it and I scanned it until I found Morris Rd.!<
5. 5000 >!I started off a major parkway, which I followed northwards until I got to the junction between RI122 and RI126, which I found again in Woonsocket. I came from RI122, which I scanned until I reached the junction where I started at- the one with Talcott St.!<

1. 4946 >!The amount of rickshaws had me leaning towards Iquitos, but I needed a while to confirm this. I eventually spotted a mention of Loreto on a sign, and I figured Iquitos would be the only city big enough in said province. I didn't have time left to pinpoint, but I remembered seing a mention of "Putumayo" somewhere, so I guessed in a neighbourhood named like that. Right-ish part of the city, but still 2 kms off.!<
2. 5000 >!I started in a hilly neighbourhood, overlooking a large city. Going downhill, I reached a major E-W avenue, which I followed westwards until I reached a church with its full address on a sign: Av. Perú, Cajamarca. I could see I was close to the city's southern end, and I found this road there. I started near a recognizable park- Colina Santa Apolonia: I guessed to the southeast of it. A tight hairpin bend below the start helped me pinpoint.!<
3. 5000 >!I gathered a mention of Huancayo from a political poster to the south of the start. I started to the west of Av. Ferrocarril, a major N-S avenue with train tracks; a sign pointed towards nearby neighbourhoods, so I found the intersection I was at in no time. I guessed to the west of Av. Ferrocarril, near a park and a gas pump.!<
4. 4999 >!We started near a school, where a sign placed me in Cajamarca again. Going north, I quickly reached a major E-W avenue, Chanchamayo, which I then scanned until I found the road where we started, Chépen. Alas I was a bit hasty in pinpointing, and I guessed one block too far north.!<
5. 4981 >!This felt like Cajamarca again, and I eventually found a mention of this city on a political poster. I started in the hilly area to the west of Av. Tupac Amaru and Av. La Paz; I found these roads in the western part of the city but I struggled to pinpoint in the maze of small roads in the city's outskirts, and I ended up guessing too far south.!<

Division 3: 25000. I got kind of lucky as I had been to two places in GeoGuessr before, but I feel like it was a slightly easy seed overall nevertheless.

1. 5000 >!I started south of the Summerstrand hotel... that's repeat #1 for me, I remembered Summerstrand being along the South African coast, south of Gqeberha. I guessed along the coastal road, at the northern end of the long curve immediately to the south of Summerstrand.!<
2. 5000 >!The script gave Japan away. I went south at first and I soon reached a labelled intersection, but I didn't know any of the places named on signs. I went back to the start and headed north, and I eventually found a sign welcoming me to Fukuoka- that's a major city I can locate! I guessed a couple of curves to the south of Fukuoka's western border, along the coastline to the west of the city.!<
3. 5000 >!I instantly recognized the Kenyan snorkel. I noticed a lot of mentions of Kilifi on signs, so I scanned the Kenyan coast and I found a town named like that. We started near the northern end of a bridge along a highway, and there was only one fitting spot in the area.!<
4. 5000 >!This place reminded me of a location on Vancouver Island I recently had- dejavu #2. The coverage was broken-ish, but I eventually found my way to the Port Hardy fire station. I found Port Hardy on Vancouver Island and I guessed along the coastal road, at the junction with Telco St.!<
5. 5000 >!The signs and the setting were a clear giveaway for the Emirates, and I noticed a lot of mentions of RAK on signs. As I scanned Ras-al-Khaimah's coastline, I noticed a fitting road (I recognized the odd-shaped junction at its southern end); I struggled a bit to pinpoint, though, the mapping wasn't all that accurate. I made it barely within the perfect score threshold.!<

2. 5000 >!I went north from the start and I reached a major E-W road, 13th St. I found a "Regina" logo on a building and plenty of mentions of the Cathedral district, a neighbourhood I swiftly found. I started to the southeast of the cathedral, along Robinson St, seven houses to the south of the junction with 15th Ave.!<
3. 5000 >!I went north, then east, and I quickly found signs pointing towards the Fort Dauphin museum, as well as a route marker for MB5A. I checked Manitoba for Fort Dauphin... but I found "regular" Dauphin instead. I started to the north of the city centre, along Laura St, to the south of MB5A. I guessed between the junctions with Maryland and Henry.!<
4. 4999 >!Very broken coverage, I couldn't move around much... but at the eastern end of the coverage, I could see a mention of Swift Current on a bus! Thankfully, we started in a neighbourhood with numbered roads, which made pinpointing possible- I started at the intersection between 7 Ave NE and Powley. I still lost a point as the picture's placement was wrong.!<
5. 5000 >!Very easy finale in the downtown area of a big city. I noticed a mention of Winnipeg on a service van; I started along a major boulevard, Provencher, to the west of a bridge- a very easy find. I guessed in front of the Place Joseph Royal building.!<

GOAT: 20014, I was having such a good game and I screwed up R5 completely :'(

1. 5000 >!I started one block to the north of a major E-W road, Cherry Hill Rd. Along it, I found a sign placing me at the southern end of Westland, a city I found in greater Detroit. I found Cherry Hill at its border, and I scanned it until I found the starting road along it. I guessed along N Venoy, at the junction with N Venoy Cir.!<
2. 5000 >!A very well-off neighbourhood. I needed a while but I eventually found my way out of it, reaching the 12th Line, which I know is somewhere north of Detroit. A sign placed me east of the junction with MI5, and I found the starting neighbourhood there! I started along Hidden Trail, to the east of a small gulf in the road.!<
3. 5000 >!I started along a residential road. I went north and I merged into a major E-W road, Chicago Dr, which doubled as I-196 Biz. I kept going west until I reached the junction with the actual I-196. Signs placed me between east of Holland and Grandville, and I found a fitting interchange in Wyoming (the city, not the state :p). I found the starting road- Berkley Rd- to the east of the exit, but I didn't have time to pinpoint accurately.!<
4. 5000 >!I started near the southern end of Tuck Rd, from where I turned east on Grand RIver Ave and quickly reached an interchange along MI5, which I remembered from round #2. I was at the southern access to Farmington, which I quickly found along this road. I guessed north of the Tuck/Grand River intersection, near the southernmost house along the western side of the road.!<
5. 29 >!Not much to say about this last round, I completely missed any mention of the name of the town we were in. I only knew I was somewhere along MI96, but I failed to find this state highway. I guessed in greater Detroit to hedge my bets, but we were in Battle Creek. Better luck next week.!<

25000. Another interesting challenge :)

1. 5000 >!Donivan's, a pub. I found many mentions of Anaconda and Montana on posters around the venue, as well as a dispenser of a "Butte News" pamphlet. I found Anaconda near Butte, and Donivan's stood out downtown.!<
2. 5000 >!Deep Six Dive and Watersports. I found the store's addresses on a leaflet on the counter- one in Vero Beach, FL and one in Stuart, FL. Since the store sold Vero Beach t-shirts, I figured we were in the former. The leaflet had the store's full address- 416 21st St- and as usual the numbered grid made for an easy find.!<
3. 5000 >!A colonial villa. The photo agency was "Encyclopedia Virginia", and from signs in the front yard I gathered this was Carlyle House in downtown Alexandria- an easy find.!<
4. 5000 >!The Ghostly Manor Thrill Center, an indoor amusement park. I reached the counter where I noticed multiple mentions of Sandusky, OH, which I can locate. I couldn't find clues to narrow it down further, but as I zoomed on the city, I instantly spotted the venue- its POI could be seen from far away.!<
5. 5000 >!A small museum about local history which, of course, was rife with clues about our whereabouts: we had to be in Riverton, WY. I easily spotted this town, and I found the Riverton Museum downtown. The photospheres were a bit off and had the wrong orientation... but not by much, a perfect score was possible regardless.!<

1. 5000 >!The first round was probably the trickiest. I started in a residential area and I instantly noticed the Ottawa city logo on signs- I visited the city, so it was a dead giveaway. I found a sign referencing the neighbourhood as "Beaconwood", and I eventually found my way out of it, reaching a major road, Montréal Rd, which- as is often the case- turned out to be a road actually leading to Montréal. I spotted Beaconwood along Montréal Rd, and I found the intersection near the start (the one between Eastvale Dr and Casey Ave) there.!<
2. 5000 >!Another residential area. I soon found a major E-W road, McNaughton Ave, along which I spotted the Chatham-Kent Association of Realtors. I quickly found McNaughton Ave within Chatham, and I scanned it until I found the junction were we started- the one between Finch Ave and Finch Pl- to the south of it.!<
3. 5000 >!Another residential area. I quickly found my way out of it and I reached a major N-S road- Thornton Rd- also labelled as County Rd 52. I followed it northwards until I found a sign pointing towards the Oshawa airfield. I found Co Rd 52 within Oshawa and I scanned it until I found the road where I started, Adele Cres- a nearby cemetery worked as reference point.!<
4. 5000 >!From the start I went south, and I found a mention of Downtown Kitchener on a sign for a cycle path. I was at the junction between Courtland Ave and Madison Ave, which I easily found in downtown Kitchener; I guessed along the latter, near a large block of flats.!<
5. 5000 >!East of a border gate, with a sign welcoming visitors to Windsor- easy peasy. I checked the two border crossings within the city and found a perfect match to the south of the Ambassador bridge.!<

A sign pointing towards "South Nashua" had me check Nashua itself, and I found the aforementioned high school near US3 in the city. 5. 5000 >!I instantly noticed mentions of Exeter on some adopt-a-highway signs. I went west at first, but it looked like the road I was on lead to nowhere. I found FL574 within Tampa and found Highland Ave near the junction with US41B; I guessed a few blocks to the north of the intersection, along W Osborne Ave, in front of the house west of the junction with Highland.!<
5. 5000 >!I went north from the start until I reached the junction with a major parkway, FL688. I went west along it and soon got to the junction with Alt US19. I scanned US19 until I found Alt US19, and then I scanned this road until I found FL688. 1. 5000 >!I found a mention of Södertälje on a sign near the start. I could see I was on the road along the northern side of the rail tracks, east of an overpass and west of a roundabout- finding a fitting spot along the railway was easy.!<
2. 5000 >!I started in an industrial neighbourhood. I went south/east and reached a major avenue- Limhamnsvägen- along which I found a sign pointing towards E6, E20, E65 and E22. A quick glance at the map revealed that the four highways all intersect in Malmö, and as I zoomed on the city I noticed a neighbourhood named Limhamn, like the road I was on. I found Limhamnsvägen nearby, and I found the starting road in the industrial district west of it: I started along Barlastgatan, west of the junction with Magasingatan.!<
3. 5000 >!I went east from the start, and I spotted a mention of Skåne on a government building. Further east, I reached an intersection where signs mentioned E22 and route 102- I found these two roads in Lund. I was at the eastern end of the city, so I scanned that area looking for the road I was on- Spelmansvägen- and I quickly found it. I guessed further west along it, west of the aforementioned government building.!<
4. 5000 >!Like in rounds 2 and 3, I found a sign mentioning some highways- this time, E18, E20 and route 50- from which I gathered I was in Örebro. I started north of a large roundabout, near some rail tracks and the local bus station, in the city's industrial district- it was a pretty easy place to spot.!<
5. 5000 >!I quickly found a mention of Kristianstad on a bus stop. I went west, then north and I reached an overpass over a rail yard, which was an easy landmark to spot. I guessed to the southeast of it, along Sjövägen, north of the junction with Prästallén.!<

GOAT: 25000. A fairly easy one but very enjoyable, different from what we've had so far.

1. 5000 >!I started in a residential area, but I didn't need long to reach downtown and find a major junction: US82 x NM18. I scanned US82 and found this intersection in Lovington. I guessed to the northeast of it, near the eastern end of E Jackson Ave.!<
2. 5000 >!I started near the "El Centro Health Las Vegas Clinic", but I didn't immediately realize we were in a town named Las Vegas... but then I found a sign from the Las Vegas City Schools. I found Las Vegas in the northeastern part of NM. The clinic was along 8th St, and as usual numbered roads are easy to find. I guessed near the southern end of the building.!<
3. 5000 >!I went south along N Garden Ave, the road where we started, until I found a shop named Roswell Refuge Thrift Store- so Roswell it was. A railway crossing along the road helped me find N Garden Ave in the northern part of the city. I started next to a large self storage building north of a sports park.!<
4. 5000 >!I spawned next to the Hotel Artesia... but like in round #2 I had never heard of a town named like that, and I needed another sign (this time for "Downtown Artesia") to figure it out! I started to the west of US285 (which helped me locate the town), north of an easily findable roundabout.!<
5. 5000 >!I started along a residential road, Valley Dr, east of a major N-S parkway. I went south along the latter and eventually found a mention of the City of Española on a sign. I also spotted shields for US84 and US285, which proved helpful in finding the city. A sign near the start placed me south of the Ohkay reservoir, and this helped me find Valley Dr south of the area labelled like that on the map. I guessed west of the westernmost intersection with Sunset Dr.!<

MINT: 25000

1. 5000 >!I started in a hilly neighbourhood overlooking a city, and I soon noticed the Mackay city logo on signs. I eventually reached a E-W road, along which I found a sign placing me east of the Mount Pleasant neighbourhood. I found Mt. Pleasant, and I found the starting road (High St) to the east of it. I started in front of house #64.!<
2. 5000 >!I started along a coastal road. I went south and I found the Wendouree-Ballarat rowing club. I can locate Ballarat, and I found Lake Wendouree nearby! I guessed at the roundabout where the road along the lake's eastern shore met Haddon St.!<
3. 5000 >!Another hilly neighbourhood. I went downhill and I eventually reached the junction with Hwy 1 between Hobart and Davenport- the only major city between them being Launceston. A sign placed me 1 km south of the city centre, and I recognized the junction I was at thanks to a nearby McDonald's. The start was on blurry coverage, but I knew I started north of the western end of Laura St, and I counted houses to guess in the right spot.!<
4. 5000 >!I found a mention of Sydney on a sign outside of a playground. Going north, I reached the seashore, where there was a massive, distinct pier. I scanned the city's waterfront and I found a perfect match in the Finger Wharf. I started to the southeast of it, along McElhone St, in front of house #42.!<
5. 5000 >!I started north of a major E-W road, along which I found a sign from the Cairns School of Distance Education. Further east, I found the Trinity Bay State School... which stood out at a surprisingly high zoom level. I guessed to the west of it, near the southern end of the Cominos Place park.!<

POET: 24759

1. 5000 >!I started in a residential area, but I quickly found my way to a major N-S road through this area. I also found a sign placing me 6 kms north of "Keskusta", which I know means "Town centre". I headed south, learning I was in a suburb named Taskila; further south, I found a sign pointing towards routes 4, E8 and E75. I found these roads intersecting in Oulu, and I found Taskila north of them. I started near the northern end of the residential road to the west of Oulunseläntie.!<
2. 5000 >!Like the previous round, I found a sign placing me at the intersection between routes 110 and 52, between Turku and Helsinki: I found this junction in Salo. I started near a 90° curve along Umpiaidankatu, a residential road branching off Salonkatu, a major avenue which was very recognizable as it was the only road in the city with separate lanes.!<
3. 5000 >!Same drill as the previous rounds- going east from the start, I quickly got to a sign pointing towards highways 8 to Pori and 12 to Tampere. I found the roads in Rauma. I started at the junction between Lensunkatu and Savenvalajanvahe; the former was a major E-W road, and it was an easy find.!<
4. 4759 >!I really struggled in this round, I couldn't find my way out of what looked like an endless maze of residential parkways, and I struggled to find clues to understand where I was. I only spotted a mention of Jyväskylä with about 30 seconds left; I had no time to pinpoint, so I went for a conservative guess in the middle of the city.!<
5. 5000 >!Back to the usual drill for the last round: I found signs pointing towards routes 6 and 9, and I found the junction between them in Joensuu. I started along the western bank of the local river, along Rantakatu, south of the junction with Malmikatu.!<

MINT: 24962

1. 5000 >!I started on 5 St SW, south of the junction with 12 Ave SW. The numbered grid made for a very easy find. I started by the southern end of a building hosting a Hudson Canada's Pub.!<
2. 4962 >!Uhh... on an expressway. A sign placed me east of exit 54 to Heritage Hills Blvd, and I quickly found this exit along AB201. As always, though, pinpointing on this kind of road is very hard. I tried to help myself with the shapes of the houses to the south of us, but I ended up a bit too far east.!<
3. 5000 >!By the eastern end of 79 Ave SE, east of the junction with 57 St SE.!<
4. 5000 >!Numbered roads strike again! On 10th St SW, west of the junction with 9 St SW, in front of an empty parking lot.!<
5. 5000 >!And again! along 34 Ave SW, west of the junction with 16 St SW. What an easy game it was, sucks about R2...!<

1. 4785 >!Signs placed me in the Děčín IV neighbourhood... and this would've been a massive clue, if I knew Děčín was a town. I eventually realized it had to be the town's name, but I took quite a while to find it, and once I did I didn't have any time left to pinpoint.!<
2. 5000 >!A sign near the start placed me south of the junction between routes 36 and 37. That sign also pointed towards Hradec Králové and Chlumec- this helped me find the junction in nearby Pardubice. I guessed to the southeast of the intersection, in the parking lot of a Globus supermarket.!<
3. 5000 >!We started in a commercial district... and I found a sign naming the complex as "Komercni Park Pardubice", so I had to be in the same city as round 2. I could see I was south of a railway overpass and a Kaufland supermarket- this helped me find the area in the southern park of the city. I started near the southeastern corner of the aforementioned Kaufland.!<
4. 5000 >!Signs placed me in Děčín VI, and now I knew where to look! I started along Rokycanova, a residential road spurring from a major avenue- Želenická. Děčín is fairly small so I quickly found Želenická; I scanned it, I found Rokycanova and I guessed along the latter, near a 90° turn, close to the junction.!<
5. 5000 >!I started in a residential area, south of the main road through this neighbourhood. I followed it westwards and I soon found a sign welcoming me to Jihlava-Pístov. I found Jihlava and I quickly found Pístov within it: I guessed east of this neighbourhood, along Skalka, near the junction with U Koželuhů. The roads weren't labelled but Skalka was easily recognizable as the only road spurring southwards from route 4062, the main road through this neighbourhood.!<

I live in Ottawa now but I grew up in Pincourt, Quebec, just southwest of Montreal Island.

There's no Pincourt-specific map but there's a map for Île Perrot, the island in the Montreal archipelago which Pincourt is on.

There's been a significant amount of construction on the island since I moved to Ontario in 2004 so some of the newer roads are less familiar to me and Don Quichotte Boulevard (which is named after Don Quixote because it leads to a park with a windmill), the main road down the middle of the island, has some stretches with hundreds of metres of fields, woods, and scrub which makes it a little hard to pinpoint close enough to get 5000 on such a small map.

I only got 23,890 on my first attempt since I got the scrubby bits of Don Quichotte Boulevard twice.

25k on Indy. I had to take a call during R4 so it looks like I took awhile on what I thought was the easiest round.

Pretty much known for being across the river from DC. It was actually a part of DC until the 1840s, but they gave the land back to VA. There wasn't much here back then, maybe like cows or something, but today it's a city in it's own right.

1. 5000 >!I found a mention of Norwich on a banner near the start. We started near St. Andrew's Church, in what looked like a very central area. I zoomed on central Norwich and noticed the St. Andrews Car Park; I found the church of the same name nearby. I guessed west of it, in front of the Abbotts Real Estate agency.!<
2. 5000 >!I started in a residential area, close to an overpass above an expressway. I could read a sign on the road below pointing towards Reading and placing me south of the Thames Valley Park and the Sutton Business Park. I found those places near Reading, and I scanned the road leading to those places until I found the road I started on, Mays Cl.!<
3. 5000 >!We started near a major intersection. I noticed signs pointing towards two motorways- M62 and M606. I found the former on the map and I scanned it until I found the junction with M606 near Bradford. As I zoomed on this city, I easily found the major intersection at the start, recognizable thanks to the many businesses around.!<
4. 5000 >!Going north from the start, I instantly spotted a big mention of Leeds on a sign. The road we were on ran parallel to a major highway: a sign placing me close to the junction with A58 and an underpass below the railway made me recognize this stretch of road as a segment of A643. I guessed to the west of this road, near the junction between Copley Hill and Whitehall Rd.!<
5. 5000 >!We started in the parking lot of a large mall, Forster Square. I moved around a bit and I quickly noticed a mention of Bradford on the livery of a bus. As I zoomed on this city, I quickly spotted Forster Square; I guessed near its southern end, near the entrance to the Currys PC World store.!<

POET-3: 20815, all well until the last round :'(

1. 5000 >!I started in a commercial district and, going north from the start, I quickly reached a sign with a mention of Trnava. I found the commercial district to the southeast of the city, and I guessed by the eastern corner of the big SCONTO store.!<
2. 5000 >!We started along the access road leading to a railyard. Going north and then west, I reached the entrance to a bus station, where I noticed a big mention of Košice on a bus. I found the bus station near the main railyard in Košice, and I guessed close to the northernmost railway crossing along its access road.!<
3. 5000 >!A mention of Bardejov on an ad right where we spawned! A sign nearby placed me along route 77, and I could see railway track running parallel to the highway- there was only a short stretch of road matching this view. Pinpointing was a bit tricky, but the shapes of the building south of the start helped me find the right spot.!<
4. 5000 >!An intersection near a castle. Signs pointing towards Bratislava, Banská Bystrica and Lučenec made me suspect Zvolen, as it is in between them... and indeed, I found a mention of this city on a bus. The castle made for a very easy pinpoint.!<
5. 816 >!Ahh, my undoing. I was very confused, as I saw mentions of Bratislava and Banská Bystrica on ads but this didn't match either city... and I definitely went the wrong way, heading south along the highway rather than towards the city centre. A sign pointing towards an amusement park named after the Tatras prompted me to guess in Poprad, but we were actually in Ružomberok. I had seen this word on signs... but I had never heard of this city, so I didn't recognize the name.!<

25000 / 10'59" / no penalties.

1. 5000 / 2'36" >!In a city. I started in a residential area, but going north I reached an industrial district where I found signs pointing towards western and eastern Zamora... suggesting I was in Zamora itself. I started near the western end of a road near two football fields, which stood out on the map.!<
2. 5000 / 53" >!At an intersection, 4 kms to the east of San Pedro de Ceque, 4 kms to the west of Santibáñez de Vidriales, 14 kms to the south of Molezuelas de la Carballeda. I scanned the area between Ponferrada and Zamora, I found these towns. The only matching intersection between them was in Brime de Sog.!<
3. 5000 / 1'56" >!Another city, another residential area. I quickly reached a major parkway, where I found a sign pointing towards the Hotel Ponferrada Plaza, giving the city away. It looked like I was north of the city centre, to the west of the National Energy Museum; I scanned major roads north of the city and found the starting road to the west of one of those. I started along C. Francisco González, three houses to the south of the intersection with C. Valentín García Yebra.!<
4. 5000 / 2'32" >!A beautiful mountain road. I found route markers for LE-142. Going west/downhill, I soon reached a small town, El Acebo. From the stage description, I knew we had to be close to Ponferrada, and I found El Acebo nearby. I guessed a few curves to the east of the village, at the junction with a trail branching off eastwards.!<
5. 5000 / 3'02" >!A highway through flat, dry landscape. Route markers placed me along ZA-P-1405. Going west, I soon reached a town, Bercianos de Aliste, and I found a worn down distance panel placing me west of Carbajales and Zamora. I found Bercianos west of those towns; I guessed east of this village, near a curve, at the junction with the southern end of a sandy trail that ran parallel to ZA-P-1405.!<

POET-2: 25000 :)

1. 5000 >!We started in a port. I went south of the start and found a mention of Oostende on a sign. We started on the eastern side of a basin, near a short bridge leading to a large lighthouse- I easily spotted this location in the coastal part of Oostende.!<
2. 5000 >!Signs with road names placed me in Seraing, which I knew was somewhere near Liège. I easily spotted this city. The same signs placed me along Rue de la Vecquée, and it looked like I was on the western side of a river- this helped me find the starting road very quickly. I started south of the junction with Rue de la Forêt, and I had plenty of time to scan Rue de la Vecquée and find the right spot.!<
3. 5000 >!The dual Dutch/French signs had me thinking Bruxelles. Signs had a mention of Uccle, and indeed I found this town in the outskirts of the Belgian capital. I went west from the start and I eventually reached the Rittweger tram station, which I easily located in downtown Uccle. I guessed east of it, along Rue Klipveld, near the junction with Rue Hankar.!<
4. 5000 >!Right at the start, a sign placed me in Charleroi, along Avenue de Pont Neuf. I started to the south of a roundabout where two major boulevards met, with a park on the northwestern corner- I easily found a perfect match for this spot. I guessed to the south of it, in front of the Mila hairdresser salon.!<
5. 5000 >!Signs placed me in Seraing, again. I moved around a bit and I quickly reached Rue de la Forêt... the road from R2! I easily found it again and I guessed to the south of it, on the backroad running to the east of Rue de la Collectivité.!<

25000 / 9'39" / no penalties

1. 5000 / 2'24" >!A mountain road. Km markers placed me along N-260, an easy find in the area of the stage. I went east/downhill until I found a village, Noales, where signs placed me between Castejón de Sos and El Pont de Suert. I found all those places along the highway and I guessed west of Noales, on a hairpin bend in the middle of a section with many curves.!<
2. 5000 / 1'28" >!The only cat 1 climb of the day had to be the Ampriu. Again we were in the middle of a stretch of roads with many curves... I scanned this famous climb as fast as I could, and I found a perfect match near the bottom of the climb- I recognized the sharp hairpin bend where we started and I guessed there.!<
3. 5000 / 58" >!A highway to the north of a lake, at the junction with C-134a to Salàs P.. The "C-" prefix gave Catalunya away, so I scanned the area around La Seu looking for a matching area near a lake, and I spotted Salàs de Pallars north of the Pantà de Sant Antoni. I found the intersection along the northern shore of the lake and I guessed there.!<
4. 5000 / 2'23" >!Another mountain road. Route markers placed me along the L-511, so I was still in Lleida province. Going east/downhill I reached a hotel, and I found a sign naming it "El Solà". I found L-511 near La Seu, and I scanned it until I found the hotel. I started west of it, on a hairpin bend with a somewhat long straight line to the east of it.!<
5. 5000 / 2'25" >!Another mountain highway, and from km markers I gathered it was N-260, the same road as round 1. I went north/downhill and I eventually found a sign placing me 30 kms to the north of La Pobla de Segur. I recognized the stretch of road we were on thanks to two hairpin bends in quick succession, with a bridge further north; I guessed above them, at a junction with a rural road (the only one around)!<

25000 / 6'09" / no penalties. Three good rounds and two bad ones.

1. 5000 / 2'08" >!I was expecting Montjuïc to feature as the midway climb announced in the description... but even if I know where it is and even if I've been there irl, I really struggled with pinpointing as I was looking around the wrong cable car station. Once I noticed we were east of the large parking area, I understood where I had to guess.!<
2. 5000 / 24" >!At a junction west of the legendary Camp Nou stadium. The FC Barcelona museum nearby stands out on the map, so I instantly found it. I guessed at the junction near the southeastern corner of the Aristides Maillol venue.!<
3. 5000 / 45" >!We started near a large roundabout, with signs placing us west of the port and the Zona Franca and east of El Prat and the airport. This narrowed it down to a small area, where I quickly noticed a major roundabout. I checked it out and it was a perfect fit; I guessed on its northern side.!<
4. 5000 / 20" >!The junction to the southeast of the Sagrada Familia, which also stands out on the map and allowed for a very quick guess.!<
5. 5000 / 2'32" >!On a large boulevard, in front of one of Gaudì's many palaces... I couldn't remember which one this was, though! A sign placed me along Pg. de Gracia, which I remembered as a major road through Barcelona and even the name of a metro station... but I really struggled to find it, it took me a while. Once I did, Casa Milà looked like a perfect match for the building near the start- I made sure that the surroundings fit and I guessed there.!<

MINT: 24990

1. 5000 >!I started in a residential area. Going east, then north, then east again, I reached the end of the city, where I found a sign with its name- Wetaskiwin. A sign pointing towards the Central Alberta Railway Museum helped me locate this city in the middle of the province. As usual, numbered roads made for easy pinpointing: I started on 37a Ave, west of the junction with 53a St.!<
2. 4990 >!I started in a residential area along Pinnacle Cres, near Pinnacle Way- lots of Pinnacles here. I soon found my way to a major parkway... but I struggled to find mentions of the city I was in! I noticed mentions of "Peace Wapiti", and I found a sign pointing towards AB43 North for Edmonton... but the highway was never to the south of Edmonton! I eventually found another sign for AB40, and understood I had to be where the two highways met- Grande Prairie. I didn't have a lot of time left but thankfully I noticed a "Pinnacle Ridge" neighbourhood along AB40 and I threw a last-second guess there.!<
3. 5000 >!A mention of Canmore, right at the start, nice. I was on Benchland Trail, the road connecting the interchange along AB1 and the central area- a very easy find.!<
4. 5000 >!Large commercial parkways. I went south, then west and I reached a highway labelled as AB16A which, I figured, would be a spur of AB16; I noticed several mentions of Spruce Grove, so I scanned AB16 and I quickly found this city! I started along a major avenue west of the centre, Jennifer Heil Way, near a Holiday Inn.!<
5. 5000 >!A residential area. I went east/north/east and I reached a somewhat major avenue, which I followed northwards; I noticed a logo from Camrose on a sign. I had plenty of time to find this town within Alberta, and numbered roads made once again for a quick and painless pinpointing- on 30 Ave, just west of the 90° degree turn turning it into 61a St.!<

25000 / 12'54", no penalties.

1. 5000 / 58" >!A roundabout, 40 kms to the south of Valencia and 2.5 kms to the west of Benimuslem via CV-550. I spotted this town south of Valencia and followed CV-550 until I found a suitable junction.!<
2. 5000 / 2'38" >!Completely flat countryside. I went west and I found route markers for CM-332- the "CM" prefix suggested I was in Castilla-La Mancha; further west, I got to a town named La Felipa. I scanned the area east of Albacete and I quickly found La Felipa; I started to the east of it, at a 4-way junction between CM-332 and a lesser road, recognizable thanks to a farmhouse to the south of it.!<
3. 5000 / 2'32" >!A city. The language on signs didn't look like "proper" Spanish, this suggested proximity to Valencia... and indeed, I found a poster for an event in this city at a bus stop. I reached the Ayora subway station, and since Valencia's network isn't THAT big, I figured I'd just look for it; I found it and I guessed to the southwest of it, in front of the YMCA, along Carrer del Duc de Gaeta.!<
4. 5000 / 1'57" >!Another city. I went north and reached the market square ("Feria"); given the Castellan-speaking setting and the apparent size of this place, Albacete seemed like the only option. Sure enough, I quickly found the Feria area within it; I guessed a few blocks to the south of it, along C. Pérez Pastor, west of the junction with C. Jiménez. The shape of the house to the northwest of the start was a helpful reference for pinpointing.!<
5. 5000 / 4'49" >!I went downhill, but I needed a while to find a route marker- we were along CV-590, near its western end. I spotted this road by scanning the mountainous area between Albacete and Valencia. We started at a junction with a gravel road... I needed a while to locate the exact spot, as the map didn't match Street View perfectly.!<

Off to a bad start in GOAT: 21264 :(

1. 5000 >!We started along a major boulevard, Benjamin Ave. I went east and after a few block I noticed a mention of "Norfolk, NE", on a contractor's truck. I found Norfolk, checked it out and sure enough I found a major Benjamin Ave there. I scanned it until I found the starting spot, in front of a Pizza Hut.!<
2. 1264 >!Sighh, I only needed one more second here. I found a marker for NE2 and a building for "Nebraska City Utilities", so I thought that maybe I was in a city named Nebraska City... but I couldn't find it on the map, so I kept looking for other clues. As time was running out I found a marker for US75, and as I zoomed on this highway I noticed NEBRASKA CITY... but it was too late to move my pin, which I had temporarily dropped north of Omaha :(!<
3. 5000 >!I went south, then east, then south and I noticed "Lexington" on the water tower- a city I was able to find quickly. It looked like I started near the southern end of the city, and indeed I quickly found my starting spot there: along Harrison St, north of the junction with Oak St.!<
4. 5000 >!We started to the southeast of a major hospital, the Seward Memorial Hospital. I went west, reached the main road through the town we were in, and found route markers for US34 and NE15. I scanned the national highway and I found the junction in... Seward! I quickly found the hospital within it and guessed along Greenwood Ave, a short residential road on its southeastern side.!<
5. 5000 >!I went west for a while, then north, and I reached a major avenue: I followed it westwards, and I soon reached a junction with route markers for US30, US75 and NE91. I knew where US75 was from round 1, and I quickly found the junction with the other two roads in Blair. I started in the southern part of this town, along South St, west of the junction with 11th St.!<

24917, the last French region I visited so I felt compelled to do well here :)

1. 5000 >!Started in a village. From signs, I learned it was Bouxières-aux-Dames, along D40... and most importantly somewhere along A31 between Metz and Nancy. I started on the long straight line to the south of the Arcades shopping centre... there was a house with a distinct shape to the north of us, I used it as reference to pinpoint.!<
2. 5000 >!In the outskirts of a town. I reached the center and found a map of Mussig, as well as signs pointing towards Artolsheim, Heidolsheim, Marckolsheim and Baldenheim... all those "heims" gave Alsace away! I scanned the area as fast as I could and I eventually spotted Mussig. I started near the southern end of Rue des Pâturages, in the southern part of the village.!<
3. 5000 >!We started west of a bridge on a major river and west of a small town, St-Germain-sur-Meuse. I scanned the Meuse and I found this village along it. I guessed west of the river, on the 90° curve along D144A.!<
4. 4998 >!In a forest. I went south and reached a junction where I found mentions of several towns. Given the setting, I hedged my bets and I started scanning for them in the Ardennes department- indeed, I found some of them there! I started along D10, north of Draize and north of the intersection with D136; I used a junction and a stream to the north of us to pinpoint but I still lost a couple of points.!<
5. 4919 >!I started in the countryside, to the east of a small village, Gottesheim... whose name suggested Alsace again. I reached the middle of the town, where I found signs pointing towards Wilwisheim and Dettwiller... they sounded loosely Luxembourgish too, so I concentrated on the northern part of Alsace. I found Dettwiller, then I found Gottesheim nearby... but I didn't have enough time to pinpoint accurately, and I ended up too far east.!<
