I prefer GeoGuessr, where you have to guess where you are based on what you can see in street view
EDIT: obligatory remark about getting gold for the first time. Thank you, whoever you are
I didn't see anyone telling about geoguessr.
It's a site where you're dropped in a random road of the world and you have to guess your position on the globe.
Multiplayer possible where the winner is the one with the closest guess to the actual position.
https://www.geoguessr.com/
You have great investigating skills, do you know about the game Geoguessr(https://www.geoguessr.com) ?
It's a game where you begin somewhere in the world on google streets and try to pinpoint the location of the spot on the world map!
Lot's of fun :)
Hey it's alright! Have some free Malaysia games on me! (Default settings) https://www.geoguessr.com/challenge/iPBKezGI5VwlzmTu https://www.geoguessr.com/challenge/6lIrWxDBeNkERIjv https://www.geoguessr.com/challenge/Yrzfgdao9KdOo8Cs
Been a long time since I've played, but there's this game called Geoguessr where you're placed somewhere in the world on street view, and you have to guess where you are. You can narrow the scope to just the US or other countries, famous landmarks, a few other challenges, but I like to do the whole world because you see more interesting things.
It's a lot of fun, and you can learn a lot about quickly recognizing what different parts of the world look like.
This game is beyond fascinating. It drops you somewhere in the world on Google Street View and you have to guess where you are. The closer you pinpoint your location on the map, the more points you get.
Yes, it took me a few days. See my other comment in this thread to get a good idea of how to win.
You literally have to reference cloud patterns and find matching road bends (which don't exist half the time in the country). It's a real trudge. What's your profile btw? Add mine as a friend here.
some people have put massive research into developing indonesia metas. here are some tips:
-the region or the city you are in will be on a lot of signs. its just important to recognize which word it is: if you see the word kota(city) then the next word will most likely be the cuty you are in, if you see the word kabupaten anywhere the next word classifies the region. the problem is: there are about 300 of those. some people memorized them with kodiaks sporcle quizzes, i personally dont bother. heres a practice map: https://www.geoguessr.com/maps/6181d5ef34994a0001f63105
-there are quite a lot of unique roof or housing types that point to specific areas of indonesia. sadly im not the expert that can help you with that though, i only know the sloped west sumatra roofs and the blocky concrete houses of kalimantan.
-a good way to tell youre in java is by the rice plantations everywhere, because like 80% of indonesias rice is from java
-sulawesi uses very distinct fences, often painted blue and white
-the island of east nusa tenggara also uses distinct fences that you can recognize
if people on motorcycles wear helmets, you are more likely to be in Java or sumatra(but that obviously doesnt work 100% of the time)

Just a couple ideas. Have fun on your date!
In case anyone is interested, current maximum is set to 1200.
Very annoying that when you get there, the game just stops working! Asking for support will get the maximum recorded on your profile, but ALL that data is wiped... pfft.
Quote: Filip Antell (GeoGuessr) "Its related to that the Streaks finish at 1200 and we cannot have streaks continue further than that due to the data impacting our site too much."
A little map I made when I got mad at myself for getting this wrong: Ulaanbataar or Bishkek? - just a quick polygon map of the two places, nothing fancy.
I posted this before just yesterday but I had screwed up the stats, so here it is again but fixed.
Here's the game if you want to do things with the data yourself: https://www.geoguessr.com/game/QIvxOTlZeIG3MBIH
I investigated if this data could have plausibly come from a uniform probability distribution by using a chi-squared test. Here is that: https://pastebin.com/qrRRDsBn Conclusion: Highly unlikely that the countries are chosen randomly with a uniform distribution. I speculate that some countries are weighted higher than others.
When playing geoguessr I'm always surprised how good-looking the Polish roads are. In my ignorance I presumed that all former-behind-the-iron-curtain infrastructure was outdated or something. But no, the Polish roads on geoguessr look nice and shiny. They look equally good, if not better, than the average road in France.
That's great! Keep that interest up. It has earned me a great life and career so far. If you're into geography, check out geoguessr, which is really entertaining at a time like this. I like to challenge myself to see if I can identify a place both with and without the help of other internet resources.
This is a fake one. The real account has a lower level.
Yes, it is now possible to have fake verified account because the devs made the stupid choice to let people change their name / picture without having to be verified again... effectively killing the purpose of verified account.
https://www.geoguessr.com You get dropped somewhere in the world and have to guess your location based off the google earth map.
http://www.ninite.com A Web site that installs a bulk of free programs all at once.
Not sure if you've played Geoguessr before but for a split second I was thinking how cool it would be to have a LOTRO version of this.
Also, as having recently run through a Guardian to cap on Treebeard, this looks very much like NE Angmar.
This is heart breaking to see. I was skeptical when I first heard the allegations, given that Nightey was also an active community member in some streams.
But yeah, if you don't want to look at the whole video, just play this challenge: https://www.geoguessr.com/challenge/pPNbsiemoo7AVpvy
4 of the 5 guesses were made in 8 seconds or less, total score 23,216. The challenge was played before geoguessr publicly showed the times, so nobody at the time was aware how fast the guesses were made.
If you play Geoguessr, I made a map with places like this all around the world: https://www.geoguessr.com/maps/5f89a5e8f018c00001c2247a
I think I missed this sign, so I will add it to the map.
https://www.geoguessr.com : You get dropped somewhere in the world and have to guess your location based off the google earth pictures. Great way to spend a Friday afternoon at work. It's been shared around Reddit a lot lately but worth a look.
Again playing along with JSano. I got 21750 today, not quite as good as yesterday, but not too bad.
[First one: If Jsano had continued slightly longer he would have found signs showing road numbers. I was able to make pretty good guess based on those.](/spoiler)
[2nd I live in Finland so this was easy one for me and I was able to get only 11 meters away.](/spoiler)
[3rd Couldn't find any useful signs, but it looked obviously like Pacific Northwest, so I guessed on Oregon and Washington border.](/spoiler)
[4th Couldn't find my way out of the neighborhood either..., random guess to somewhere in the middle of USA. ](/spoiler)
[5th Wow! Second Finnish one, must be my lucky day.](/spoiler)
The official maps use panorama IDs for locations, those are unchanging references to an exact image. Coverage that is hidden but not totally deleted can be accessed that way. Custom maps and the flag icon use coordinates for locations, which Google then resolves to a panorama when you load it. If the area has been updated, you get newer coverage; if the area has been hidden, you get a black screen.
Recently users found out that you can create custom maps using panorama IDs. They used it to access hidden German coverage that was (accidentally?) released a few months ago: https://www.geoguessr.com/maps/617dff1e9e20a400018ef60d
https://www.geoguessr.com/challenge/raHIYW2Dxhaa5ZN9
If any of you want to try and beat me at Geoguessr. 2 minutes per round, the map's not too difficult and I didn't do too good (nor too bad), so it's anyone's game.
21941 points.
Found at least the correct state in Brazil because of the road number, so not too far off here.
No clues other than some forest and stuff, guessed Arkansas.
Found a sign to Palma and some things in Spanish, so I guessed Mallorca.
Found a sign with the road number and place names and then found Villahermosa on the map.
Found a sign with a the Florida 729 and guessed where I saw other 700er roads there.

No move, 90 secondi per round, mappa "city skylines", buona fortuna!
I mean I think the fact that this exists as a game should be enough to explain how people find out where someone lives based only on some pictures they may have posted and a rough understanding on where in the world they live.
I really enjoy this map: An Urban America
Obviously, it's not the same experience as a streak, but it's a fun way to explore the US without the drab stretches of rural state highways.
All the meta bullshit ruins BR for me. It's just not fun IMO.
"We're being followed by a police car - Nigeria"
"Weird lines in the sky - Senegal"
"In the middle of a desert and the car has a roof rack - Mongolia"
"Arabic text - UAE, Jordan or Algeria"
The beauty of the game, for me, is putting on an album, playing the vanilla world map and spending 45 minutes on one location in Thailand.
Anyone ever play geoguessr?
It drops you off in google street view somewhere in the world, and you have to figure out where you are on a map.
If you're bored, register (free, allows spam dump emails) and try out the daily challenge. It takes 15 min to play the 5 rounds.
I got 17772 points.
You apparently have access to the internet, so you can actually virtually sightsee around the world! I've only ever been around Europe but can probably identify many regions. In that spirit, https://www.geoguessr.com/ it's pretty fun (although it probably won't help you learn about red double decker buses or Times Square).
I also made a map with dogs! Not just the UK though; about 80 countries.
Challenge link (default settings): https://www.geoguessr.com/challenge/FH3A0DAvatlpU5s9
You could go into your activities page and try to manually filter out the daily challenges ("played a challenge on World") and paste them into a spreadsheet or something like that.
NMPZ : No Move, Pan, Zoom : it means you play with a single picture, you cannot move, turn your head or zoom
Events in carreer : You can find it in the Career Tab : it's special Battle Royale games in Online Mode with 4-10 players with special rules like more or less time.
Private Lobbies are the same games as those in the career tab, but only with your friends and not with random people

To add to what u/RaptorPegasus said.. if you enjoy strolling around in the Google Maps car, just checking out interesting places, GeoGuessr would be fun for you. GeoWizard is one of the most notable GeoGuessr players. Average game takes me about 30 minutes to an hour. I’ve only ever played the United States map, but in my ~10-15 games, I’ve seen so many interesting things the US has to offer. I once was dropped in this alley in San Francisco’s Mission District and it felt like a totally different world to me.

I can understand the frustration with the official world map. If it's not diverse enough for you I'd recommend A Diverse World. If you just don't want to be stuck in the middle of nowhere, but like to be placed in more urban sites, there's An Urban World or GeoBettr.
For your second problem: I'm not sure if you need an account for this, but on the left, there's a menu option called "Ongiong Games". There you can continue any started game of the last couple of months.

[1](#s "Certainly the Pacific Northwest due to the trees. Blurry image quality soon ensued, but road signs resembled Oregon. Wrong side of the Cascades, but I'm pretty satisfied.")
[2](#s "Certainly northern Mexico due to the unique turn signs and dry terrain. No evidence beyond that.")
[3](#s "Indonesia? This is a first for Strangelands. Found a billboard with "Surabaya" on it and guessed in a flat area near that city.")
[4](#s "Wait a minute, I spawned here in a game of Geoguessr three days ago! Good thing I remembered where it was.")
[5](#s "Pacific Northwest and high street numbers. Gotta be coastal Washington. Eventually, I found that Pierce County road numbers fit the bill.")
2:30 rounds are brutal.
Here we go again.
[1st Helpful signs nearby so very easy to find. Altough I chose wrong gas station on the map, so no perfect score for me. And no, Polish language does not look like Finnish at all Jeff! :( :p](/spoiler)
[2nd Another relatively easy one. The country, state and town name were easy to find, but finding Floydada on the map of Texas took some time.](/spoiler)
[3rd "somewhehe in the Canadian prairies" was all I was able to get from this one.](/spoiler)
[4th Australia is always difficult in Geoguessr, I had know idea where it and randomly guessed somewhere in New South Wales, turns out it was in Tasmania.](/spoiler)
[5th Wow they really have weird place names in Cornwall. The style of street signs looked like British, but town names didn't sound like English, Scottish or Welsh at all. But then I noticed one town name that sounded vaguely familiar: St. Austell, so I guessed there, and luckily it was relatively close.](/spoiler)
22037 points today. Not bad, but there were some lucky guesses, so it could have easily been much worse.
Something that's not as fancy or impressive as the name suggests.
Basically just a competition where there's a certain number of legs (basically like challenge links) with a different map chosen for each leg and a time window to play it in (e.g. 48 hrs). At the conclusion of each leg, people are given points based on where they placed on the leaderboard for it. Winner is the person with the most points after all the legs have finished. If its run by a streamer or a community, there might be prizes on offer for the winner.

Here's an example of a really popular pro league from a couple months back with 300+ people taking part in it.

BTW: I don't think the highest average score is a good criterion. Of course, if I play only Dumb Test, I have a much higher average than if I play ADW NPMZ.
Don't know what you would find interesting but I like Geo Guesser. It dumps you in a random spot on google earth with all the mapping data stripped off. You have to figure out where you are and get points based on how far you're off.
Geoguessr. https://www.geoguessr.com/ Using Google Maps, it drops you somewhere in the world, and by moving around, you've got to try to figure out where in the fuck you are.
Let me just say, I don't think you can give up video games for good. It's good you're giving them up, especially if you've got yourself in an unhealthy rut. But hopefully you can eventually return to them with a different, more reasonable approach.
I think a person needs to have some type of creative outlet to be mentally healthy, whether it's writing, making music, drawing, carving, knitting, cooking, etc. I think video games, movies & TV, graphic novels, etc. become unhealthy when they replace your creativity.

[5000](#s "France, 01-number on van so NW. Bus stop Gare Vinci, so most likely close to train station. Further up sees Tourist Information place. Mentions Tours and Loire. Misinterprets it and first thinks Loire is the town name. Then something clicks and easily finds Tours.")
[5000](#s "Wow, was surprised no one else was on the correct road, because I found it easy. Just one step south was a road direction sign. First thing I saw was Bangor, which I was pretty sure was close to Belfast. Second thing Dublin. A little further south and you can get onto a highway that crosses the river. Yes has train tracks next to it. Started on the road closes to the river. Easy from there.")

[5000](#s "France again, this time SE due to 04-phone number. Sees mention of Cannes Hospital. Manage to find our side road just in time.")
I'm from Vermont in the US, and every time I see a picture of (non-urban, non-coastal) Sweden, it looks a lot like my neck of the woods. If you ever play GeoGuessr, the only way to tell the two apart is the language on the road signs.
Great shot of beautiful country, thanks for posting, OP.
[1](#s "Red houses? Sweden. Where? Oh well, near Stockholm. 4380 points.")

[4](#s "Blurry camera, so US or Australia. Let's pluck it down in northern Alabama. Not too bad. 4046 points.")
[5](#s "US again? No clue, could be anywhere in the temperate climate zone. The game didn't want me to be in Colorado, mh? (completely forgotten the sun!) At least 1 point :D")

[5.](#s "There are many shades of the color blue. This one is Russian. And so is the shit road.")
Only the one in Brazil was really hard, the other ones were not that hard but the time limit does make it tough
Good round, but the big highlight is that one of my childhood locations was featured in Geoguessr, and such a vague one at that!
This is starting to take significant part of my evenings with first playing it myself and then watching three videos. Anyway I got 18464 today.
1st: It know where Övertorneå is so I was able to guess relatively close, unfortunately I went to south of Övertoneå instead of north.
2nd: Immediately felt like Pohjanmaa(western coastal area of Finland) due the flat farmland and with the help of the signs Nebris and Baj also saw I was able to get pretty close to the correct location.
3rd: Like everybody else I failed badly on this one.
4th: I saw sign that said something about south western Texas, and with that I was able to find Del Rio.
5th. With crappy camera quality it was difficult to get much out of this. Because of terrain being hilly grassland my first though was something like Wyoming or Nebraska. I also saw the oil well or whatever it was and briefly thought of Bakken oil fields in North Dakota, but unfortunately I decided to go with my original guess.
17907 today.
1 I recognized the town name so this was pretty easy for me.
2 I'm Finnish so this was also relatively easy, though it took a while to get the exact place.
3 This was a really tough one. I knew I was in southern Russia but guessed on the completely wrong side of the country, and my hopes for a good score are gone :(
4 Found the 90 and 277 signs so guessed roughly at the intersection.
5 Couldn't find anything that would tell me what state I'm in so guessed between Kansas/Nebraska/Iowa (I have seen a lot of potato quality stuff there)
Couldn't recognize the characters but thought they looked more Japanese than Chinese, and then found highway 4 and made a guess from there.
Found the Brunswick Sheet Metal Company, then a sign that gave the city name (Dieppe).
Found an ø, so I figured I was in Norway, then followed highways north as the numbers grew, to 851.
Found a Guadalajara police vehicle.
Everything was in French, and I thought most of Canada had at least some English, so I guessed France. Figured there had to be a Montreal in France too.
24360 today.
1 the language looked Japanese so guessed in the middle of Japan. got surprisingly good amount of points.
2 Went all the way to Moncton before I knew where I was. Then estimated where I had spawned.
3 This was easy. Spent about 2 minutes searching for the right place and got the full 5000 points.
4 The first 3 guesses had gone so well that I decided to go full try hard mode and get as many points as possible. so I spent the next 20 minutes trying to find where I was. After I had found the city I was in I gave up on the max points because I was so bored after the 20 minutes of searching and just guessed in the midlle of Guadalajara.
5 This was another easy one. However I was a bit disappointed that I didn't get full 5000 but only 4999 :)
18823 today. I had some extra difficulty today as I am away from home and the combination of my ancient laptop and crappy hotel wifi meant that each move took about 5 to 10 seconds to load :p.
The first one was a complete failure, I had no idea so guessed Brazil because of tropical climate, despite that the language did not look like Portuguese at all...
2nd I saw sign that said Tay Bridge, so I guessed near Dundee, which turned out to be relatively close.
3rd Horse and cart on road almost always means Romania in Geoguessr and language seemed to match.
4th obviously Norway, and I had encountered highway 17 in a previous game so I knew roughly which part of the country it was.
5th Being Finnish I immediately recognized the railway coaches, however I didn't find anything to tell which town it was ,but for some reason it felt like northern Finland. Semi randomly guessed Oulu, which was not too far away from the correct answer.
18343 this time.
1 Recognized that I was in Asia but didn't find any good glues so guessed the coast of Thailand
2 Went the other way than JSano and saw a sign with a road number, Had a quick look around the map and guessed a are where there was similar numbers.
3 Found a truck that had .Ro in it so guessed in the middle of Romania
4 Recognized the language but didn't find any other good glues. Thought the landscape looked like southern Norway so guessed near Oslo.
5 Being Finnish really helped here :) found a sign that said Kemi but didn't find anything else that would have been useful so guessed a bit south from Kemi. Bit disappointed though because I was so "far" off on this one
Overall really fun seed.
I almost forgot it was a two minutes chalange with the first one and it makes it more of a guessr instead of searching for little hints. Anyhow I got 14677
Also horses on the road is eastern europe 90% of the times
Played along with JSano today and got 20818. Going to follow in fellow geoguessr and explain my guesses
[First one: I found the subway sign and luckily stumbled upon Cache Creek, so I put mine about 10 km out](/spoiler)
[2nd: Recognized the flag and painstakingly followed all the 80, 70, 90 roads until I came upon the 82. I just made a random guess at an intersection](/spoiler)
[3rd: Somehow I found a sign with the name of the park and Oregon, passed a bridge and put my marker somewhere near a river](/spoiler)
[4th: Got out of the neighbourhood to get lost in the other neighbourhoods, just put this where I'm familiar in US geography](/spoiler)
[5th: Figured out I was in a Nordic country by the signs and the line colours, found a name I recognized from my futile search earlier and put my guess down around there](/spoiler)
All in all, I don't think I did half bad for my first play along.
It's a browser based game. It drops you at a random spot anywhere in Google Street View, anywhere in the world, and the goal is to guess where you've been dropped. You drop a pin on a map where you think you are and it scores you based on how close your guess was.
It used to be very clutter and ad free several years ago. It's a bit more locked behind pay walls now, unfortunately.
Not only that, he adopted a green and yellow outfit in the name of pratiotism, and he even sold toy figures of himself dressed at the Brazilian superman.
And the Statue of Liberty is not the only thing, the HAVAN stores are huge and ugly as hell, they are all the same and have nothing to do with Brazilian architecture.
I also found a geoguessr map with only HAVAN locations spread through Brazil, play at your own risk.
>There used to be a button for a random map, which was great
The feature still exists, unfortunately not linked anymore.

E pelo jeito vcs gostam de investigação, então...
Uns anos atrás perdi muitas horas da minha vida com isso aqui:
Só existia o primeiro jogo (world), não precisava logar nem nada. Agora tá mais complexo.
If they're still in the same place as this video clip, then Antigua, Guatemala. (Google search of the pharmacy name that Derrick passed on his walk came up with address.)
...I've been spending too much time playing geoguessr.
Also there's a few articles around that seem to confirm that and indicate that they plan to do marriage counseling, which is kind of a WTF considering they haven't been married long (still under 2yrs.) and don't have enough familiarity with the language, let alone experience living the local culture to try to be of any real help at all in that capacity. They're still in the tourist phase of living there and of marriage. Then again, there are plenty of priests out there trying to be marriage counselors when they're unmarried and celibate, so... not unheard of for the religion end of things, but still doesn't make a damn bit of sense.
[1](#s "Definitely looks like southeastern US but let's try not to pick anything too extreme in case it's somewhere more western/northern. Picked northern Mississippi, was western FL.") [2](#s "Risky guess, it looks like northwestern US but could also be Mexico or South America. Picked Idaho and even managed to get the state right!") [3](#s "Those road markers look European. Torn between France and Northern Italy, go for the latter basing on mere national pride although I regretted my choice as soon as I hit the button- it's probably too densely populated to have such deserted fields. It wasn't Italy indeed, but still a better guessthan France- Hungary!") [4](#s "American cars, desert-ish landscape, too wealthy to be Mexico. Definitely one between CA, UT, NV, AZ and NM. Picked somewhere in the middle, was just north of L.A.") [5](#s "Gut feeling says northern European, mostly because of the quality- not awfully bad, but not exactly HD either. I've got plenty of those in northern Europe- the Netherlands and Denmark come to mind, and indeed it could be one of those two countries. I picked somewhere in Friesland but it was Denmark.")
Neat thing I noticed after playing a few of these: difference between my [3] scores and [5] scores is fairly low. Probably means that in most cases, rotating and zooming don't really make any difference and, in a situation with such few clues, there's little marginal gain between long reasoned thought and just following your gut feelings.
1) Guessed in Northern Italy because of mountains but ended up being on the wrong side of Italy.
2) I was about to go Peru but put Mexico.
3) Found a sign with Alberta and the intersections.
4) Guessed near the German border based on the D-road names and language.
5) Recognised Thai symbols and found the road.
I wish I knew there was a timer before I started playing. Got a 0 on the first map for taking too much time. I had figured out I was in Italy and figured it was closer to the South given the trees.
Saw a sign that Lima was ~200 km away almost immediately. I overestimated how far 200 km was though and ended up a good 1000 points away.
Something about the timer makes me do dumb things. The only clue I got is that we were in Western Canada and a road number. I couldn't find the road in the allotted time so I guessed in the middle of BC.
Yellow D road = France. German sounding name = East. Couldn't find the road or town within 5 minutes and ended up 50 km away.
Figured out it was Thailand via the language on the map and the shape of the road signs. Found the road eventually and ended up 40 km away.
graffiti with milan ended up misleading me to the wrong end of Italy
sign with provincia de barranca & lima
English signs, km/h, caution: deer sign, guessing canada, sign with edmonton & leduc
bunch of german signs, searched for highway 35 in germany, couldn't find it
Thai...fuck can't read it..no idea where chaiyaphum is
16550 today. I was able to find the Latvian location, but others were pretty much just guesses. I'm sure I would have been able to make better guess on the French one if I had been allowed to the motorway, but otherwise the rule did not have any major effect on the game.
(Re)subscribed to JSano because of this series. Geoguessr is one of my favourite timewasters.
I really enjoy these timed challenges, otherwise I get too caught up with finding the exact spot, or traveling for miles to find some clues.
21329pts. Good round for a 2 minute limit.
Guessed Indonesia because of sign with latin letters and non-european language. They have a lot of islands though.
Guessed Scotland due to some scottish-looking names, luck got me very close.
You know, you kind of learn to recognize Romania after playing geo for a while. Flags confirmed my gut feeling. Was able to find all towns on nearby road sign.
"Bilsenteret Namsos". Sometimes being Norwegian helps.
Turns out the E75 in Finland is a pretty long road. I was at the wrong end of it...
21879 today, really pretty pleased with that given the time restrictions. I've also now decided that URLs are the most helpful things to find in timed challenges.
21061 today. I suspect that many will get better score than me as I was rather impatient today. In the first one I gave up due crappy camera almost instantly, and in the Thai ones I just guessed somewhere in the middle of Thailand once I found out the country.
Ah, the famous deserts of Pennsylvania! Also disappointed that Jeff did not notice the fire station in the last one. But the instant house restoration was pretty cool. Anyway, I got 21856 today which is okay I guess.
24,201 points total
R1- Ireland based on plates, and I spot a sign for Ballina which I already know the location of. Using the compass and road bends, I'm able to figure out which road I'm on and plonk along a straight span for a 5000 points
R2- I'm a bit unhappy about this one. Found a sign pointing to Haademeeste, and the name of the town sounded super familiar to me. Scanned all over Estonia twice but somehow missed it. 106km, 4656 points
R3- Philippines based on English language signs. After wasting way too much time trying to find Barangay because I mixed it up with Boracay, I find a sign saying that I'm in the Cordillera district. After a bit of searching and zooming on borders I find it near the end of the round, and just plonk right in the middle of it. 105km, 4661 points
R4- Heading north with 30s left I find a sign mentioning the Espirito Santos and Rio De Janeiro states, as well as a sign I'm on the BR101. I also notice I'm 61km from Campos. How I did not put 2 and 2 together and realise I'm on a state border, I have no clue how. I massively misjudge distance on the map and I'm 35km off, 4884 points
R5- LOL I got this exact location during my recent Canada explorer mode gold medal run. After a little bit of trouble pinpointing the exact road I'm on in Churchill, that's a free 5000 points for me.
Some difficult locations today, awesome result all things considered.
Guess I'll give this a go, since I love playing but don't have many avenues to discuss my thought processes!
R1: Thought southern Brazil for the first minute or so because of the red soil, but the words were leading me towards Argentina. A "Ruta 14" billboard had me scanning in Argentina near the border. Luckily by then I had narrowed it down enough that coming onto a roundabout gave me two town names I could use. 4966
R2: Not the best at Australia, and the old coverage had me nervous, but the fact that I originally thought NZ pulled me to Tasmania. C161 sign had me there for a sec until I figured I'd check Victoria for some other C1xx's. Found it, but couldn'y get super close. 4958.
R3: Took a LOT of clicking, but the yellow houses made me think Romania or Hungary. The accents and sign fonts solidified Hungary, and I started looking near the Romanian border. Could've sworn I'd seen Zsadany before, but in the end ran out of time and just went near middle of the border. Luckily 4881.
R4: "Embu" and "Eastern" on signs coupled with a .ke let me find the city pretty quickly, from there I just happened to catch "Hudumu Centre" near the middle, which is right in front of you at spawn! Perfect scores in Kenya don't come every day :)
R5: Clearly British Isles. Don't know what initially made me think Isle of Man, but turning around Douglas/Peel/Ramsey gave it away. From there I could connect A1 and A18 and luckily the hospital stands out on the map! Another great 5000 to cap off a good run.
24804 total, which is my third best, behind a 24987 (this past Thursday) and a 24879 from back in mid-June! Been generally averaging gold for the past few weeks, so I'm really happy with my progress!

90 secondi, mappa UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Been playing geoguessr a lot: https://www.geoguessr.com/
Been listening to a lot of podcasts. Love those podcasts where the speaker investigates cases. Some of the podcasts I've enjoyed are Serial and Passenger list. The first season of Serial is just brilliant! (The adnan syed case) Both podcasts are available on spotify. I think yoi can also listen to their episodes on their respective websites. Here are the links:

Hope you guys enjoy what i recommended :)
There is a simpler way:
- press F12 (open the dev tools) with GeoGuessr website loaded
- go to Application tab
- select Locale Storage then https://www.geoguessr.com on the left panel
- look for game-settings and edit the timeLimit value to whatever you want.
You can also apply this to leagues with the league-settings entry. After you edited the values you can just go to any map and start a game / challenge, the time will automatically be applied and will stay until you change the time on the website (and you'll have to edit the entry again).
