Somebody recommended gab.com the other day as a great Facebook alternative that respected free speech. Neat! So, being a naive flatlander, I checked it out. The front page was a non-stop parade of QAnon bullshit, anti-semitism, racism, and fascist propaganda. Cool, so it turns out all of that concern about free speech was just a cover for horrible people to be horrible in public.

If you haven't heard of it, it's a reddit-like site, built by a former reddit dev. The overall site goals are worth a read, and I think align very well with what the goals of /r/SeaWA are:

So the project for this weekend is to install all three monitors on the living room wall. Then plug them into the PC and go from there.
I got this app back when my kid was a baby, and I still use it for mixing my own background noise. I usually go with 2 types of rain and maybe some distant thunder.
So, I know some people are frustrated with not being able to easily get into a gym. I just bought a pilates bar so I can do squats, benchpress, etc style workouts. I also got and some other bands (like to put around your legs) to add resistance in other directions.
I just tried it out for a 20ish min workout and have to say I'm pretty happy with it. The pilates bar band isn't super resistant, so for squats I definitely had to shorten it and also an additional workout by putting one of the other bands around my legs, just above the knees. All in all, I would recommend if you're looking for an at-home lifting option with little space available. It's not going to be like squatting 400 pounds but still good for low-weight/high-rep style workout which is what I like anyway.
I made the call 3 weeks ago to just wait until 2021 to buy a portable AC unit. "There's only like, what, 3 more weeks of warm weather? I'll just keep the windows open." Wrong move. Now I have to just stare at next week's forecast and tell myself that I made the right call.

Set up the "Get an email whenever a new Craigslist post matches your search" applet on If This Then That.
You can set a bunch of filters on craigslist, so you can specify a budget, keywords, neighborhood, etc. You'll be able to see new listings that match what you want right away when they're posted, so you'll be one of the first to reply to a listing. Go look at the apartments as soon as you can, and be ready to sign a lease right there.

Some statistics here, though I don't think it covers the most recent uptick. Activity is flat-ish, but it certainly doesn't feel like a ghost town (200-300 topics / week). And growth is not an explicit goal, Tildes isn't VC-backed so there's no outside expectation of a hockey-stick growth curve.
Gun safe's are pretty darn cheap for basic models. Walmart has a 10-rifle safe for $99. It might not stand up to part (d) of the definition, but it's there. Amazon has a biometric rifle safe for $215 (and 2-day shipping) that gets decent reviews. These options aren't perfect, but they're a far sight better than keeping it in a travel bag in the closet, and don't add much burden.
You pointed out the justification for why people should consider seeking out other sources and obviously people agree that that is important.
Unfortunately, nobody else posted this story before u/dougpiston posted it from MyNW. If he's posting duplicates, we'll remove it, but for better or worse, the article can still foster discussion on the topic, which is what Reddit is meant for. It's not meant for making the mods curate what media source gets ad revenue.
If other users would become more active and post news stories before u/dougpiston finds time in his busy day of looking at the newest model of stilts that might get him the most ladies and posts the stories from MyNW, then we'd have a reason to remove the MyNW stories as duplicates.
Until then, the topics in the articles being posted foster discussion. And unless they're dangerous misinformation that could actually impact people negatively, there's no point in removing them since nobody else is posting anything.
And again, everyone is welcome to point to another source in the comments. 97.3% of people coming to Reddit don't click on articles and base their discussions on the headline and the comment threads anyway.

Were you asking about veg recipes a few weeks back? I was making some stuff this week out of my copy of Moosewood Cooks at Home and this recipe fits with it really well. Tribit StormBox for something large with good sound and long battery life. I used to use an Altec Lansing H20 for years and then I upgraded. About the same cost; for $15 more, the StormBox is a great speaker.

makes amazing chicken stock, too. buy a rotisserie chicken, strip the meat off, throw the bones in the pot (roast the bones first, for bonus points). add veggie trimmings (save these in a ziploc bag in the freezer). cover with water, cook on high pressure for 3-4 hours.
strain, then add back the chicken meat and whatever veggies / noodles / etc you want.
mashed cauliflower is a super easy healthy side dish to make.
you can buy green split peas in bulk on Amazon. those + some bacon or ham makes another really good soup.
I spritzed the box with Lysol, let it sit for awhile and then wiped it down with a Lysol soaked bar towel.
