Yes, yes, yes... I at one time have had like 4 or 5 areas all at once and then one would stop or lessen and another begin and it really is awful. Mine on my knee was never that bad so I can't help you there but establishing care with a rheumatologist is key. Getting your health in the best shape it can be will help but it will likely not "fix" things long term. But for some it can. We're all different. These crutches are amazing, worth every penny.
For most sufferers, Naproxen sodium (Aleve) works better than other otc anti-inflammatories. It's cheap, .04/dose on Amazon.
...and stay hydrated, stop drinking beer, cut out the chicken and fish, and talk to a doc about going on a urate reducing therapy once you've got through this flare.
been wearing half cushion gildan's for a couple of years now, i'm on my feet all day long 5-6 days a week, obviously not when flaring up (been around 9 months thankfully). i do wake up every day with minor foot pain and take ibuprofen on the bad days before heading out and i have to say in general these are really comfortable socks. the cushioning is perfect but not over-whelming to cause sweat or anything.
i own these https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DDS6MJ9/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and also the tube sock versions which i purchased locally at Academy i believe. i would ignore any bad reviews on amazon, i've not had any issue and would consider the bad incidents isolated.
good general every day sock, hope this helps and good luck to ya.
Ankle gout sufferer here. Lots of experience with pain.
I've been in a similar situation and I know how bad it can get but stay strong.
I am not a doctor but here is why I do when I get a bad gout flare in either ankle (again not a doctor but I find this helps me):
I'll sit on the edge of the tub and run hot water over my ankle for a few minutes. I find it helps relieve the pain, if only while the hot water hits it. I stopped using ice because I felt it prolonged my flares. Be mindful not to run water over your skin too hot though.
-CAM Walking Boot.
Anyone who suffers from ankle gout should have a compression boot and cane on standby imo. Here is an example...
This helps me get around the house but I also find compression helps with pain as well. I also recommend wearing a boot or high top sneaker on your other foot to compensate for your gait while using a CAM walker (helps prevent hip pain).
-Colchicine.
If you're in full flare it's too late but I recommend a prescription as a precaution if your doctor feels it'd appropriate.
I will take a pill if I feel a flare coming on or eat risky food (example: rare night of BBQ or drinking). Uric acid reducing medication is the most important of course but I consider this an emergency option and use them sparingly.
Hope this helps.
Most people can get resolve a gout flare in 3 days with a course of naproxen or colchicine. in my experience, a big enough loading dose (660 mg) of naproxen sodium followed by 220 mg every 12 hours will always end the flare 99% in less than 72 hours.
I'm not a doctor and this is potentially dangerous for other reasons, but the most likely cheap fix is to take lots of Aleve and Advil.
It works a lot better proactively, but outside of prescription steroids or prescription colchicine, it's really the only thing the doctor can do for an on-going flare or to proactively prevent flares for the next year, even if you started Allopurinol today.
Most clinical trials have shown nsaids to be about as effective as colchicine and steroids at preventing/reducing flares anyway.
Again, I'm not a doctor and I don't advise this, but I was taking 800mg Ibuprofen(Advil) every 4 hours and 440 mg Naproxen Sodium every 6 hours when my flares were the worst. I would HIGHLY suggest you also take at least 20mg of Omeprazole daily to protect your stomach, if you go this route.
If you want to skip the doctor entirely, you could probably diagnose yourself to a degree with a home Uric Acid reader: Amazon . From there, Allopurinol is also available from AllDayChemist for about $0.25 per pill, though this will make it much harder to get an actual diagnosis, since your Uric Acid levels will be depressed when they test them.
It's a shame that the US healthcare system has made us resort to what's essentially frontier medicine for a disease that's pretty easily diagnosed by a competent nurse and a $5 blood test and then cured with generic meds, but c'est la vie.
Not a doctor, but colchicine carries more risks and is more expensive than allopurinol, so if it were me, I'd be looking at getting onto allopurinol only at some point.
Mayo Clinic says this is usually possible:
Whether now is the right time to do it is a different question. Although the drop to 3.5mb/dL seems promising, I'm not even remotely qualified to have an opinion on that.
This cream has helped me out a bunch. Especially with having to work during a flare up.
Have you tried celery seed extract? (Boiling celery seeds in water)
Celery stalk juice never helped me. Tried that too.

Massaging a gouty toe? Yikes.
One time as I stumped into my in-laws house leaning on an old 9 iron, my father-in-law looked and me and said I looked rough and offered to go get me his Deep Tissue Percussion Massage Hammer - he was sure it would help.
I am often reminded that people who've not been through a gout attack really do not understand the sort of pain.
Until July?! That seems weird. That's a test that takes hours at the most. Honestly I'd check out amazon and either order the extract juice or just the pills. Also, Vitamin-C is shown to be really good for gout sufferers (like 1500+ mg a day). At this point you really want to do everything you can to increase kidney function to flush as much UA out everyday.

I use Nutrigout which also sells on Amazon, it has celery seeds, bromelain, chanca piedra, dandelion extract, turmeric and milk thistle. https://www.amazon.com/Uric-Acid-Lowering-Formula-GoutandYou/dp/B01GU8GGQ2/ref=sr_1_12_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1496166293&sr=8-12&keywords=gout
Well, I personally had a bad experience with Colchicine. So my doc put me on Indomethicine for flares. Some things you may want to do (that helps me) is try Epson Salt soak, and I purchased a cream from amazon. GoutandYou Therapeutic Gout Relief Cream with Arnica Extract, Ilex Leaf Extract, Aloe Vera and Tea Tree Oil. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071Z3472D/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_aTmIBbZR875AP
It seems to help with the swelling. I’m also taking 1200mg of Tart Cherry Tablets, also on Amazon.

this one is pretty reliable. Results are consistent with how my joints feel as well. (I even tried it on my wife and she has a healthy 5.7 reading all the time).
Before you get too depressed, check how much water you have been drinking. If you are not clearing about 2-3 litres per day, you're likely to be building up uric acid.
Take some anti-inflammatories asap when you feel a tingle and constantly monitor your water intake with something like this, which will also do reminders. Obviously watch for trigger foodstuffs but this might (might) save you some tears as it has me. I'm not on lifetime meds, I drink what I want (mostly) but I have to be a bit careful especially with the water.

Yeah sure but injections isn't the only way to get Hyaluronic Acid into your body. You can supplement with it orally as well. Pretty cheap, for example: https://www.amazon.com/Softgels-Natural-Hyaluronic-Health-Supplement/dp/B07SG7L7ZB but any brand that uses injuv will do.
"And we don't have too many options for gout. Prevention is either allopurinol or feboxustat, treatment of flares is steroids, nsaids, or colchicine - all of which have downsides and contraindications."
Yeah I agree, and it sucks. Thus I am searching for things outside the standard treatment that can aid it without substituting it.
if you really want to get them something related to gout... one of the best things I ever got for myself was this reusable heat/ice pack set. Since gout can be in multiple joints, and in varied places, this lets me ice down pretty much anywhere at any angle. The Velcro is strong and holds right where you want it.
And for anything else like a sprain or strain, the same packs can microwave up nicely and hold heat for 20-30 mins.
Under canbinet jar opener. One can hold the jar with both hands and turn it, and it will open. I think I‘ve given away 8 of these so far. No connection and not an affiliate link, its probably available elsewhere too.
Cherry extract, celery seed extract, lemon juice seems to be the most ‘natural’ that lower uric acid according to some short studies. Buffered vitamin C or C8
Someone here mention resverstrol (grapes) and bromelain (pineapple stems) which also sound natural. I think when you these extracts it’s the amount that you have to watch. It’s because not enough studies or data for people… most are on mice
I took ibuprofen in addition to colchicine, which helped me tremendously.
Try these shoes. They come in wide sizes for easy slip on and off, have a lot great cushioned soles, and soft form fitting material.

I have edema in my feet, especially the right foot. But in addition to gout, I have permanently injured big toes, ankles I've rolled a bunch of times, and a scar in a vein in my calf caused by a blood clot (caused by edema from gout before it was diagnosed).
My vascular surgeon (who I saw for post-clot treatment) recommended compression socks. Since it's just my foot and ankle, ankle-high socks work just fine, and they look like normal socks, too. They help keep edema down and my feet (especially my right foot) feel better.
I got these: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07SDM384X?psc=1&ref=ppx\_yo2ov\_dt\_b\_product\_details

i bought this one, they are sold under different names but this style has been very accurate within its stated tolerance. I buy the refills on ebay and I've owned it for 5 years.
My tips for success
UA varies from morning to evening, i try to test on empty stomach in the morning. I've tested myself consecutively on different fingers 6 times and the results were in range. I also tested same day when I would get blood tests and the results were also really similar.
wipe your finger and lancet with alcohol preps and wait till it's dry then begin taking a measurement.
draw enough blood to fill the strip.
I developed tinnitus long before gout. Pro tip: if you're having trouble sleeping because of the tinnitus, try this noise / sleep machine. I keep mine set as a babbling brook 24/7 and it works wonders.

I have been using the UA II sure meter for 3 weeks now and I can, based on my restricted diet specifically eating fructose foods how my uric acid is impacted, I measure weekly with a 12 hour fast. I Started at 6.4, 6.3, 6.9 today (7-08-22) based on the following excess sugars in foods I ate this this week, 5 to 6 bananas, 3 Go Macro Bars, Three Wishes Cereal 3 to 5 bowls, Wegmans blueberry preserves 50% less sugar, to test to see if I would see an increase and I did.
What’s interesting is I started the Solgar Tart Extract at dinner over the last 2 weeks, per my doctor (I have lots of medication allergies otherwise we might consider a medication), and the combination of the diet and the extract my Blood Pressure improved dramatically. BP was always 160-148 over 110-100 now running 129-117 to 93-78. Check this Peter Attia case study I came across https://peterattiamd.com/case-study-elevated-uric-acid-and-high-blood-pressure/ this and Dr. David Perlmutter MD.
So my realization is that I can control BP, through uric acid control, is it easy hell no, and will this work for everyone not sure. I am hoping this may help someone else to at least review or talk to the doctor about. Doctors try to control the symptom of Hypertension, but not the cause in my case when the uric acid is up my blood pressure is up. Dr Perlmutter has an excellent you tube channel and book as well as Rick Johnsons book https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0017SWT5S/ref=dp-kindle-redirect?_encoding=UTF8&btkr=1
This is the type of slipper I was wearing out and just reordered. I wear a 12 but for these slippers a side up was helpful—probably because I have wide feet.
The Taramac size 12s are probably fine once they're broken in because I wore those for years, but the pressure they put on me last night was no good.
It's "uric acid".
You should probably go to a doctor if you think you have gout.
it is a home ultrasound device for hearing the babies heart beat, however ultrasound has also been shown to help break up gout hot spots and at least for me really helps my flair ups. I bought some cheap Whitin ones on Amazon that have a wide toe box. Now that my gout is mostly under control they are my gym shoes, but back before I got it under control they were the only ones I could get on when attacks happened.
I do my tests at home with a device that works a lot like an insulin tester for diabetics. I bought it from Amazon. Amazon no longer carries the one I bought but this one ought to work just fine:
I couldn't imagine an ankle gout flare without a cam boot. No thank you.
I find the compression helps reduce pain. I use something like this...
United Ortho Air Cam Walker Fracture Boot, Medium, Black (Pack of 1) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B006L8N0E8/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_8TMWHKHQSEKNZRGTS6GR?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I primarily wear it to help walk around on a flared ankle / foot but if I'm really in pain it goes on regardless.
I also ensure I wear a hiking boot on the other foot to keep my gait as even as possible (otherwise expect hip pain).
Not sure what to make of this. Is it a placebo thing or a "your mileage may vary" thing, but this *seems* to have helped me.
Hi, I used to use these boots for work. The zip on the side meant you could hold you foot quite flat not bending the toe as much while having an attack.
This seems problematic:
"Krystexxa does have some side effects. A quarter of the patients who participated in the clinical trials experienced a severe allergic reaction to the new drug. The FDA recommends that health care providers provide patients a corticosteroid and an antihistamine to reduce the risk of an allergic reaction. Other reactions during the clinical trial included gout flare, nausea, injection site bruising, irritation of the nasal passages, constipation, chest pain, and vomiting."
That is from Webmd. 25 percent sounds high? The link to the thread 4 months ago said a new version with less side effects was being tested.

I highly recommend having a home UA tester. It allows you to monitor UA with high frequency and to avoid the hassle (and now COVID exposure) of lab testing. I did ad-hoc reliability test of my UA Sure brand tester by comparing it to lab test samples taken at the same time. The results differed by < 0.5 mg/dl. So, usefully accurate.

"Uric acid crystals sometimes form in joints even at levels less than 7 mg/dL, especially in men. This can lead to a gout attack, even though the uric acid levels are within the normal range."
I haven't looked any farther into this but WebMD is usually factual, as far as I know.

Yea, here is a DECT image of central gout (along the spine) . Motivating!
My favorite shoes are these. The wide toe box is a life saver and they are easy to get on and off when swollen (much less painful than most sneakers).
I can't say which part of the extracts I take daily work, but I can say I was starting to get flare-ups every 2 months until I started taking a tart cherry and celery extract pill. I buy them on Amazon, 120 in a bottle, so good for 4 months...about $25. I told a lady I worked with about it since her husband was getting them as well. Neither of us have had a flare-up for 8 months and counting.
Now I don't worry about beer (see my userid :-)), red meat, shell fish, etc and no flare-ups. I'm only posting in case this can also help someone else. My last flare-up was NASTY and I'm extremely glad to have been clear of them for this amount of time with no life change.
In case you want to try it go to amazon and search tart cherry celery extract. Good luck.

As someone who has had gout for 12 years, I can say the best advice would be to get on Allo ASAP. I would ask for some anti-inflammatories (NSAIDS) while you're taking them all as they can induce an attack when you first start taking it.
I have been getting increased attacks as of late, even with taking allopurinol, so I have moved to the herbal side of things to give it a try.
After only 1 day of taking cherry extract pills, my pain has almost subsided and I don't even have a little twinge in my joints right now. Take along with allopurinol as that is when the cherry extract is most effective.
Give these a go and see if they reduce your inflammation.
I've had acne all my life. I personally did not notice any change when starting Allopurinol.
FYI I have found that products with Benzoyl peroxide as an active ingredient do a good job to control my acne. I'm using this for about a year and it works well https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B011FD9Q00/. Before that I used Panoxyl face wash which also worked well.
Good luck

Agreed. Lots of odd-named vendors that pop up almost monthly.
That said, I've been taking this brand for many years:
Yes, it is by Homedics. I believe someone got it for me from Walmart. The one I'm sending is just an Amazon link to see what it looks like. You can purchase from Walmart, Bed Bath n Beyond etc.

I got this one. I’d never used one before so can’t say how it stacks up to competitors but it’s much easier for me than crutches. The basket is surprisingly helpful to carry around your water and meds and a book or whatever other little odds and ends you need to go from one room to the other. And it folds in half relatively easily to put into the car. But best of all I could buy it with my HSA so it doesn’t cost anything out of pocket.

I would get your kidneys checked for sure. Especially if you've noticed foam in your urine. The sooner you're aware of any potential problem the better.
Also this cream has personally been a life saver for me
Thanks for such a detailed answer. I’ve been looking for an at-home testing option but there aren’t very many options.

This one right here my friend. It’s basically a 3+ in 1. Turmeric, Tart cherry, and celery seed extract. I’ve been using this since before I started the allo and it worked great for years. Works even better now, 2 capsules before bed and no weird side effects with allo use.
Naproxen is as effective as colchicine and it's cheap.

Here's a link to the shoes I bought: https://www.amazon.com/WHITIN-Minimalist-Runner-Barefoot-Inspired/dp/B07KN4V47W
It's kind of a shitty Amazon listing, but I just recently purchased the 4th shoes (black w/ gray laces) for everyday use, and I've had the 10th shoe (black with tan bottom, toe front shape) since the start of last summer. IMO they're more like a sock with a sole for grip, my foot doesn't slide around, and I've honestly been able to amp up my hiking and running since I made the change. I mean, but that's just me, the stretching has been good for my plantar fasciitis as well, I'd say my plantar fasciitis is basically gone at at this point.
Also, they advertise a wide toe box, the shoe with the toe shape is definitely a wide, and I'd say the casual shoe is as well, but not like a wide Nike or Adidas, but definitely more space than Pumas.
I bought these and they have worked nicely. Inside the house I normally just wear some Darth Vader slippers my wife bought me since they are nice and stretched out.
Have you tried naproxen? It works for most people. It's cheap and readily available. naproxen 750 mg followed by 250 mg every 8 hours
You sure it's gouty arthritis? Do you have a history of gout flares or chronic hyperuricemia? You might try naproxen 750 mg followed by 250 mg every 8 hours. It reduces the inflammation and pain in most sufferers better than other NSAIDs. Naproxen sodium (aka Aleve) is cheap and available without a prescription.
"Dissolving away the crystals" is called "urate lowering therapy" and can take years of daily treat-to-target ULT meds like allopurinol.

Hi Mate, I believe the cherry variety used is many of the studies is Montmorency. I’ve been drinking Cherry Bay Orchards Montmorency Cherry Juice Concentrate for about a month (coinciding with a toe flare up). Comes out like a thick syrup, so it seems to be very concentrated. Decent price on Amazon with next day Prime available —> here.
I have no idea if it works. I’m getting blood work in a few weeks and am curious to see if my UA levels go down.
Yup- I have not been proactive about seeing the doctor, and am being stubborn about going on life long meds to manage the problem. I’m hoping I can find and address the root cause (besides genetics, of course).
I pick up the 640z Cherry Bay extract from Amazon. Link —> here.
I pour about 2-2.5 ounces in a pint glass and mix with water. I’ve seen as little as one tablespoon used in studies, so my 2oz might be overkill. It’s tasty stuff, albeit more liquid calories than I like to consume. Oh well, I’ve given up beer so I can live on the edge and drink some cherries I guess.
I’ve also started juicing kale, celery, and parsley because there is some anecdotal evidence that they can lower uric acid (and reduce cholesterol). I throw is some cucumbers, ginger, lemon, and sometimes turmeric. We will see if any of this helps, but it feels healthy drinking down a deep green brew.
It beats the shit out of crutches but it's not perfect. Part of this could be because I got a well made, but cheaper model. The wheels are pretty narrow so you have to be careful with bumps, and the turning radius is lacking. The knee pad is pretty cozy though. I can't bitch too much though because like I said it beats crutches and this is the model advertised for $120ish dollars at Walmart.com and Amazon but I found a gently used one on letgo for $70 and the fella even brought it to me. It definitely makes trips to the kitchen and bathroom faster and more bearable.
If you use Amazon Prime and don't mind paying full price they can have it on your doorstep tomorrow. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00I471EI8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_TdTYDbN01HS0D
I limped slowly up my in-laws' front steps during a gout attack once and my father in law winced sympathetically and asked if I wanted to borrow his foot massager.
naproxen was found effective in alleviating the inflammation of acute gout
Brand name is Aleve. The generic is cheap.
The studies show that for most sufferers naproxen is as effective as low dose colchicine with fewer side effects. And it's much much cheaper (in the USA).

I put it on subscription, saves a bit.
Ok, so a couple different things in the sock drawer that might work for you.
Thing 1:
My everyday, sleep-in, wear with boots, tennis shoes, walk around the house, and even down the driveway if it's dry, type of sock is Omniwool <---- these things. I break them out when it starts creeping into the upper 40's, like, now.
I work from home, and I can wear them all day.
They take so long to actually show wear, that I had to start donating the older pairs to whomever needed them, because I literally can not wear them out. My mom is one of those moms that when she finds something you like, you're gonna keep getting that thing, so I get one or two 3-packs of these a year, and eventually I was overrun with large wooly socks. It's a good problem to have.
Thing 2:
Only good for sleeping, will look dirty immediately, make lint balls freaking everywhere, and are one of the most amazing things I've put on my feet ever.
Yaktrax Cabin Socks. Excuse me, apparently now known as 'Field and Stream' Cozy Cabin socks.
I originally stumbled across these at Dick's Sporting Goods, so that's the only link I have, and it's to the search return on the DSG website. It's hard to tell which ones are the super-cushy kind, unless maybe they all are now. If you have a Dick's sporting goods near you, might try stopping in and checking them out.
Also looks to be a huge selection on eBay as well.
Sorry for the delay, best of luck in your search for sock!
My brother and I have good luck with Tart Cherry Concentrate - I take 1 a day, or 2 if I know I've been bad

I used to do crutches until discovering this thing: https://www.amazon.com/KneeRover-Economy-Scooter-Steerable-Alternative/dp/B01H0S9AXM/ref=sr_1_4?keywords=rolling+crutches&qid=1565028147&s=gateway&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&sr=8-4

Freaking life saver. I have to walk a lot at work so crutches were just not a realistic option not to mention the bruised palms and armpits. It's worth the money, get one. Hell, I'm using it right now.
I used to take whey protein before I was diagnosed with gout. I'm not entirely sure whether the whey protein caused additional gout attacks or not, but they were more frequent.

I just decided to change to plant based protein powders mostly for lowered cholesterol and to see if it was a trigger for flare-ups. As stated before, after a few changes with water (and maybe the protein), I haven't had any more flare-ups.

Currently using this: https://www.amazon.com/Natures-Plant-Protein-Powder-Isopure/dp/B07PFL9K24/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?keywords=plant%2Bprotein%2Bpowder&qid=1561646781&s=grocery&sr=1-1-spons&th=1 I haven't really found one that I'm fond of yet, so I just try a different brand every time I need to restock and hope I'll find a plant protein that I enjoy. So far this one tastes the best without a "grassy" flavor to it.

Plant protein tends to cost a bit more for less but personally, the added benefits outweigh the slight increase in price. They also taste terrible but I just chug it anyway.
Personally I go with the Propet slippers for home (one example at - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B079D93CHS) and their "diabetes shoes" for work. Nice and wide while still looking a bit like "real" shoes.
Have him take some concentrated cherry extract. They have it in pill form. My flare went on for weeks, but two days after I started cherry pills, I was walking normally.
> It's hard not being able to go out to eat with co-workers etc.
See, I think where you're at is rock bottom, which on some level is good. I was there a month or so ago, you can find that post here. And while I won't argue that a vegetarian diet is ideal for gout, I personally feel you can live a normal, gout-free life without going vegetarian if you work out and make smarter meal choices.
You CAN go out to eat with your coworkers because there are better choices available:
Sure it sucks, but I think you're with me when I say that the pain you experience from a flare up is much worse than settling on a grilled chicken sandwich instead of a burger.
And I hate to say it, you'll probably experience a couple flare ups along the way because it's a learning experience. Pho is growing in popularity around here, and like you, I'm finding out that it's not something I can personally eat (likely because of beef bone broth), so oh well, I'll order something else or learn to make a gout friendly pho at home. I'll live.
Keep plugging away. Gout is your body telling you that you need to make changes and get healthy; even if you do end up on a daily medication, don't lose site of the health issues.
EDIT // Frozen cherries can be a little pricey, so I've been taking a cherry/celery seed extract that I found on Amazon that I've added to my standard routine.
What about the Colchicine? Did you start popping them ever 1.5hrs for like 6hrs I think.. I think you shouldn't take more than like 3-4 in 6 hrs.. I forget.. I'm not a doctor.. You'll shite your guts out, but it will start working. Do you have crutches? I used to hobble around all the time with crutches. Know anyone? Ask them to run to CVS / Walgreens and find you adjustable crutches, or order them on amazon next day and ask a friend to come over or family member to help you adjust to them. Be careful, be smart moving around, have someone with you the whole time. https://www.amazon.com/Carex-Folding-Crutches-5-Pound/dp/B00F6656D4/ref=sr_1_12_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1509416439&sr=8-12&keywords=crutches https://www.walgreens.com/store/c/walgreens-universal-crutch/ID=prod6183381-product
You are most welcome...I'm confident that it will help you. :)
You will most likely find ACV at a grocery store (as opposed to a drug store). Try new seasons, whole foods, Fred Meyer/Kroger...not sure what stores you have where you live, but it will be in the health food or "natural" section. This is what the bottle looks like: https://www.amazon.com/Bragg-Apple-Cider-Vinegar-BTLS/dp/B01CSX4N9K/ref=sr_1_4_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1506402653&sr=8-4&keywords=braggs%2Bapple%2Bcider%2Bvinegar&th=1
I added the baking soda because it is purported to have helpful effects for gout as well, and someone here suggested it to me back when I was looking for help, to help to cut down the acidity of the ACV, but you can definitely drink it without it. The first time I tried ACV for an attack I drank 4oz straight...never again. After comparing notes with others here, it was probably more than I needed. I had a second mild attack six months after that, and I drank 2oz (with the recipe I gave earlier) and that did the trick. If it's a bad attack go for more, but after you've tasted it trust me, you will drink as little as possible. :) You can drink it straight, cut it with just water, etc...my recipe was just a suggestion, but it's what works for me after consulting with other users here. Post attack, keep yourself hydrated, take potassium and calcium/magnesium supplements, and try the ACV and cherry extract tablets if you can. My Doctor was willing to prescribe me allo, but I wanted to try something natural first, which she encouraged, and this works for me. It doesn't work for everyone, but I was amazed at the difference it made, and now I swear by it. This works for some, allo works for others...we're all different. But this stuff saved me. :)
Keep me posted on how it goes, here or with a PM. Don't forget the cherry juice, I used to drink just that for attacks and it helps, but ACV was definitely the secret weapon for me.
I've always used raw cherry juice as part of my recovery after an attack, and it always works great. I've recently added apple cider vinegar for a one-two punch, and it never fails. I just started taking ACV tablets and Cherry extract tablets (link below) as a daily preventative, and so far so good.

Tart cherries are effective against gout, I use these here since they are the strongest: https://www.amazon.com/Tart-Cherry-Extract-GoutandYou-Potent/dp/B01D05HM7K/ref=pd_bxgy_121_img_3?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B01D05HM7K&pd_rd_r=RSTT90MPEWKCYC6JQ54S&pd_rd_w=Dn7B4&pd_rd_wg=46AQN&psc=1&refRID=RSTT90MPEWKCYC6JQ54S
This topical cream works well for me as well. Cools down the affected joint and lessens the pain. https://www.amazon.com/GoutandYou-Therapeutic-Relief-Arnica-Extract/dp/B071Z3472D/ref=sr_1_7_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1506630719&sr=8-7&keywords=gout
Most powerful tart cherry is goutandyou's. Sells on Amazon. Will help ya! https://www.amazon.com/Tart-Cherry-Extract-GoutandYou-Potent/dp/B01D05HM7K/ref=sr_1_5_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1498590353&sr=8-5&keywords=tart+cherry+for+gout
The only sugars you should ingest are those in dark fruits like cherries and blueberries. Start taking two tart cherry pill extract pills daily and keep on it. Like others have said, cut back on meats and drink lots of water.
Brands I use are only from Goutandyou.com, they sell on Amazon and on their website. Tart cherry extract is strong, works for me. You may also consider Nutrigout which has turmeric inside, celery seeds, milk thistle and some other ingredients that help cleanse your liver and kidneys that causes the high uric acid. You can check them out here:
try nutrigout, it has 6 ingredients that are known to reduce uric acid, turmeric, milk thistle which cleanses your liver and kidneys, bromelain, dandelion extract, celery seeds and chanca piedra.
You can check it out on Amazon.
I take these from Amazon, best reviews from the bunch. https://www.amazon.com/Tart-Cherry-Extract-GoutandYou-Potent/dp/B01D05HM7K/ref=sr_1_4_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1494966129&sr=8-4&keywords=tart+cherry+gout
If you want a highly potent tart cherry extract, try this brand-->https://www.amazon.com/Tart-Cherry-Extract-GoutandYou-Potent/dp/B01D05HM7K/ref=sr_1_8_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1491351674&sr=8-8&keywords=tart+cherry+extract
This book will help you.
Explains how complex carbohydrates is the key. Basically, a vegan diet that includes little meat, some fat, no alcohol, limited sugar and lots of water is the best way to go. These foods take the fastest to digest and burn in your body whereas meat, sugar, fat takes longer and stresses the liver and kidneys causing higher uric acid. Most gout sufferers swear by this diet more then anything else out there.
