This was in the Yearling box set edition of The Subtle Knife. It doesn't seem to be included in earlier editions of the appendices. It reads:
>Elaine and the boy
>
>The biggest wrench, the greatest sorrow, the most desperate hope, the deepest guilt. I could have made Paradisi cut through in to my own world, and gone home. But we find ourselves pitched into great battles not of our own making, and we cannot turn aside. I must go on. I shall never see my son grow up, never look at his face and feel pride and joy, never see him becoming the man I wish him to be. I could have gone back to them, but then I would not have been the man my son would wish me to be. ~~Neither of us will be ever~~ What must be must be. As for Elaine, ~~the dearest joy~~ ~~there is nothing~~ ~~Elaine cannot begin to~~ I cannot speak.
Can anyone who owns the entire set in this edition confirm whether there's additional material in the other books, too? Here are the full appendices as I transcribed them from an earlier edition.
I live in Canada and can't watch it until next week on HBO, but just go to uloz.to somebody always posts the full episodes on there immediately and I download them easily and can watch them on Sunday with everyone else!
are you in the us? might be a bit of a slog, but check under "See all 80 formats and editions" and then "Paperback" here:
i had a quick perusal through some of the many paperback editions listed but couldn't find that one. it may well be there, though
check the other amazon listings as well; there are many for the amber spyglass
I understand what he’s going for here, but they remind me of books that are reissued with a movie poster cover if the book is turned into a movie. Compare this covers to these covers. No contest, right?
Amazon US actually sold/is selling this edition directly. There is an identical US edition that uses the Golden Compass title for those who prefer it.

Ah! These are indeed references to the short story "The Collectors" by Phillip Pullman (HDM 0.5)
It was written as a short audio story but also available for kindle. [LINK] Since you bought the statue, you must read this story!
There are hundreds of differences; most of the are very minor, thankfully. However, some are quite significant, and in my opinion change, or at least tilt, the story when you read it closely.
Obviously I'm going to suggest you read the originals, because they are canon. I'd recommend the Everyman's Library compendium. It's well-made and great value.
Pullman's publishers seem to have miscalculated this gamble...nearly half of the ratings on Amazon UK are 1-star: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Imagination-Chamber-Pullmans-breathtaking-Materials/dp/0702315516. And Amazon has now slashed the price by 50% as well! His US publishers didn't even accept it so it's not on sale in the US at all. Given the rising cost of everything these days, people don't seem too happy about paying 13 quid for mostly recycled material compiled into a book that's mostly blank space.
There you go, but I think you need to register yourself in order to watch it.
Buy it from Amazon UK. As others have mentioned, the US versions are lightly censored. And the title of the first book was changed. Look for versions published by David Fickling Books (the original publisher) of the Everyman's Library (the omnibus). I got this one: https://www.amazon.co.uk/His-Dark-Materials-including-Northern/dp/1841593427/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1542747837&sr=8-1&keywords=his+dark+materials

If you're in the US, like I am, there's a bit of a delay in getting it, but not much.
I got mine from Amazon U.K.
I have this edition and I love it. I got it from Waterstones though, looks like amazon only has used ones?
Available at Amazon uk for a whole 81p at the moment.
Bought!
I saw the date for secret commonwealth in brazil, the date will be in the end of march, generally the "things" (books, games, movies etc) have launch here (brazil) after europe, but I don't know, here the link of brazilian amazon https://www.amazon.com.br/comunidade-secreta-2-Philip-Pullman/dp/8556510914/ref=mp_s_a_1_8?keywords=la+belle+sauvage&qid=1582553395&sr=8-8

I read these versions. I've also listened to the audio book. Please tell me both of these are not censored. America is great but some things are just plain stupid.
