I went from 4S to SE (1st gen) to 12 mini. No doubt the 12 mini feels like a big ass phone compared to the previous ones. It’s the biggest phone I ever used.

However on the whole it is fine for me. There is no smaller choice available so it is as good as it gets. Very important is to find the thinnest case possible if you use a case. Any case even slightly thicker than this makes the phone feel a lot bigger.

And no I don’t miss the home button. Face ID works much better than Touch ID.

I think is great but beware is a pain in the ass to apply. My first try was so bad i took it off immediately, and even the second one is just barely ok. But helps a lot with grip and fingerprints. Before i used a glass one but when you use those most cases won’t fit if you happen to need one every now and then.

I use the Anker 622 with the foldable stand, but the Anker 621 is $10 cheaper and a bargain. The manufacturer doesn’t recommend it for the mini as it protrudes slightly and can impact the experience, but after the initial impression I haven’t noticed it.

It’s a metal frame that feels super premium and the magnet is strong. The only caveat is buying a MagSafe wallet. I bought this one on Amazon and find it far superior to the Apple ones as it expands to fit more:

Btw, I'm wondering what is standby time on your mini? How long does it last? Apple says Audio playback: Up to 50 hours which is 2 days and 2 hours when it plays audio. But my standby time is roughly 1,5 days, 36ish hours which is way less then Audio playback time when my phone just sits on the table with mostly no interaction...

I have Apple Watch, so, notifications won't turn iPhone screen on and won't play sound which supposed to improve battery time too, right? Not in my case.

Overnight charge consumption rate is another data to look at and it is 10% ish for me with a brand new (1 month old) 12 mini. Cell reception is not good where I live so phone is always use WiFi Calling. I also use LTE instead of 5G.

I don't think 12 mini battery is that bad, I think I got a faulty device... =/

The Humixx Diamond Crystal Clear case has rounded sides and corners that feel comfortable. I had the same pinky pain that you described, and the squared-off cases helped with that problem a bit, but not as much as a rounded case.

Home grower and 12 mini owner here. Photographing seedlings is very challenging, regardless of equipment. Autofocus systems almost always latch on to the medium rather than the seedling. For macro photography with my mini, I use a jewelers loupe held over the iPhone camera lens. The results are awesome in my opinion. Btw not all loupes are created equal. It is way thinner than any Apple case. If you've been using a thicker case, it will feel like a totally different phone. The only downside is that it does not support MagSafe charging, which I do not use anyway.

I remove the adhesive layer from the metal plate - it's not needed because the iPhone 12's MagSafe magnet will hold the metal plate in place - the removal of the adhesive alone shaves a few mm's off the thickness of the metal plate and you hardly feel it is there under the case.

I go hiking a lot and like taking pictures while listening to music so it uses up the battery. But you know what? I bring a battery pack with me. Problem solved.

In fact, there are Magsafe Batteries that allow you to do your thing while charging, even giving you the option to fast charge with USB C cable or standard charging thru MagSafe.

love it love it love it. Battery def is not the best if you’re out for long. Bought an Anker MagSafe Battery Pack and it helps. The weird thing is, I find myself using 2 hands to use it anyway, so I could’ve been ok with a 12/12 pro. But I love how this mini easily it fits in my pocket

Turn off 5G if you have it on. That thing sucks the life out of my mini battery. When I put it back to LTE it was a lot better. I go on long hikes a lot so I take pictures videos listen to music…the battery does go down fast even on low power mode. Recently I bought Anker’s MagSafe battery charger and it’s been great! Charges slow on MagSafe, but it also charges via USB C so there’s an option to charge it quickly. I recommend trying that! :)

As stated above, if you drop often go for the more rugged case. And then depending on color / whether or not you want to show it off.
I have a black 12 mini, nothing too crazy. I almost never drop it thanks to the easy-to-hold-in-one-hand-form-factor. I use this (below in link) which is by far one of the slimmest and sleekest designs to hold while seeming to provide enough protection to minor falls and dings. The side grips work amazing in helping get a hold of device. Absolutely love it.

I got the one from Anker for my wife and I. I think it works perfectly for its intended purpose. Of course it’s bulky but because it’s MagSafe you only have to put up with it long enough to charge your device and then it pops right off.

Made the back of my 12 mini matte and finger print friendly thanks to a matte back panel protector i found on Amazon and thought about sharing it here. Best way ever if you want to keep your phone without a case on but don’t want the back to look too messy. It makes it way grippier as well! Only problem is that it’s super hard to apply. This was my second try and is still far from perfect, but can’t complain!

I typically don't love Spigen cases for as popular as they are, but I tried the Spigen Liquid Crystal and was pleasantly surprised.

It feels solid like it will protect the phone but isn't too bulky. The buttons feel good. It's not incredibly easy to take off.

whichever one you go for, i highly recommend you get one that comes with a guide frame. makes application super easy, fast and well-aligned.

I’ve got a good one you can get here Unlike a lot of the super expensive ones I see, this one covers the whole screen, including the notch. The adhesive is really nice and it feels just like the normal glass. It’s really nice

i’m using this one right now. haven’t tried magsafe with it but it’s super thin and other metal stuff sticks to it.

I got the 3 pack off Amazon. I like these as they cover the whole screen and don’t have the dumb notch in them. I had the notch one on my pro max 11 and somehow managed to get the small scratch right across the selfie camera.
