This no longer works in > iOS 9 due to app slicing. The reason is that different version of each app are saved depending on your device, so no master copy can be saved into iTunes.
For Developers: Apple does provide a JS Library for embedding Live Photos on webpages LivePhotoKit JS
For Users: iMazing HEIC Converter is a free tool (macOS and Windows) for converting LivePhotos to JPEG or PNG.

I'm sorry for your loss first of all.
I'm not too familiar with chromebook software(mostly use macos and windows) but That software I linked is called imazing, key to the name it really does work well, if you happen to have an older windows pc or Mac laying around or if a friend has one then you could use that one. The program is free(to my knowledge) I have it myself and tried it, it gives you the option to move all songs it found to iTunes or a sepereate folder on the desktop. I just looked it up and the software is not available on Chrome. That would be my suggestion, but I do hope you find a way to make this work. And maybe flash mod it if you want to keep using it after this! 😁. Have a great day. Hope this helps.
EDIT: didn't mean to say older Mac or pc, damn autocorrect. I meant another.
Install latest iTunes/update iOS and try again. Also install iTunes stand-alone version if you have one from Win Store.

Alternatively, try with iMazing. It works much better than iTunes in most cases, and photos transfer is much more convenient than from DCIM.
We re-implemented MVT in C++ so that we could integrate it in our cross-platform toolkit. Same methodologies and structure, but a few key differences – please check out our blog post, Differences and similarities with MVT block:
https://imazing.com/blog/detecting-pegasus-spyware-with-imazing
I don't know of a way without a computer. Assuming you want a full backup and not just files, take a look at https://imazing.com/ I use and legitimately recommend it.
You can set the backup directory to something on your nas. This works particularly well if you're a PC user and avoiding installing iTunes.
nvram auto-boot=false && reboot
(As root. If you do this, you will not be able to exit recovery mode without using a tool such as imazing, force rebooting will not work)

This should help to get back as much data as possible. Note that when you restore app data with iMazing in this way it won't be able to copy data saved in keychain, so data of some apps may not be restored as there's nothing to restore (password managers, some banking apps, etc.).
Get an iPhone backup extractor like iMazing or PhoneView and you can backup all your messages in many formats. I backup mine in plain text format, pdf, XML, and save all the attachments in a folder. It’s easy, and then you can wipe your phone.
Do it every year and keep an archive of messages on an external hard drive. Problem solved!
I got this one free license for iMazing due to error on their mailing list. I could gave it to you if you really need it.
Be sure to check it out first : https://imazing.com/download
I think if you can get your own .ipa file you should have no trouble getting this to work, I pity those that haven't backed up their .ipa file and now need to find another way to keep their Pebble running after they upgrade their iPhone.
I don't know about the Enterprise part, since this runs on the workstation and does the conversion, then asks the user where the converted files should be placed. But I use this one, it's awesome and it's free....
Take a look at iMazing. It's a back-up and utility app iPhones and iPads available on Mac and Windows. It will allow you to transfer your music files from the iPhone to your computer.
I would suggest the iMazing app. I haven’t used it in a while, but as far as I’m aware, it can use local backups and extract data from them. However, I assume you have to activate iCloud somehow so you later can import the bookmarks into a computer. Importing bookmarks into iOS Safari as html is not supported last time I checked.
You can try iMazing. I think the free version is enough to export some text conversations.
There are lots of other similar programs out there. But the bottom line is you’ll need some sort of 3rd party program to do this, since it’s not a feature built into iOS.
iMazing. https://imazing.com/guides/manage-your-iphone-or-ipad-backups-with-imazing
Note, I don't believe there is a 'root file system' to browse. Your question implies that you might think that a device backup includes everything on the device including iOS.
Backups don't include that. The only things included in backups are your personal data and since iOS 9 a reference to installed apps (so they can be redownloaded).
There's a reason for that and it's so people can't just downgrade by restoring from an earlier backup. One more Apple method to defeat jailbreaking.
Manual music management is not possible if you use Apple Music if not mistaking, so you will need a third-party app like iMazing. Also note that Apple Music messes up local music (from personal experience and from lots of discussions here), so you I would better stick with something one if possible.
This could be an iOS glitch that can be transferred with the backup. Set up as new and make sure it's gone (if not, reinstall iOS in DFU mode and check again). After this, restore from an iTunes backup. If this glitch will return, then reset to factory and resync all possible data from iCloud without restoring a backup.

p.s. In worst scenario you can restore some app data without restoring a backup with iMazing. It won't restore info that is saved in keychain, but this feature is fully supported in free version so nothing to loose.
I would recommend Documents or GoodReader + smth like iMazing for file management, should give you full freedom for local file management including import/export to computer.
HEIC is a pain in the butt for windows since it's not widely supported yet, use one of these tools to convert/view:
Sorry but not possible, you need to wipe the phone before downgrading to 11.4.1. The only option I've found so far except iCloud sync is editing the Info.plist file of a local iOS 12 backup and restoring it, but this way is not perfect and some data is still lost and must be re-synced from iCloud. Here's the >article< about it from iMazing guys.
Use iMazing. Ringtones management is available in free version, supports not only .m4r and allows importing tracks longer than 30 seconds :) >guide<
Check out an app called iMazing. I use it to transfer music from one iPod to another without dealing with iTunes. It will also save all of your messages, photos, etc. I purchase an upgrade every time they offer one bc it has saved my behind more than once. It maybe what you're looking for. It's about $40.
You can only freely transfer music and video content purchased from the iTunes Store from an iOS device to a computer. To access media acquired from other storefronts or means, you would have to use iMazing or another similar piece of software.
Would highly recommend iMazing for ringtones and just generally managing photos, backups and such. Works with easy drag and drop. I personally use it for weekly automatic backups over wifi. Allows you to export data as well. Worth every penny. They update it frequently as well.
plug it into a charger for like 2 hours. Then plug it into your computer in an attempt to restore the iPad using whats called DFU mode. If this doesn't work and your computer does not recognize the iPad, then it needs to go to the Apple Store.
Try importing the full track with iMazing (just use the trial), will it be OK when you play it on the device? Check this: https://imazing.com/guides/how-to-import-or-export-iphone-ringtones-mac-or-pc
Maybe the bitrate is killed by .m4r format.
try here https://imazing.com/guides/how-to-bypass-ios-setup-assistant
but in either case i suppose you can jailbreak any ios version you land on after an eventual self-update to presumably some ios12 version finishes since the 6s is pre a a-12 device
There are 2 bugs with photos transfer on Win, both with same device disconnected message.
First, HEIC > JPEG conversion bug. Fix: on the phone, change export settings to Keep originals at the bottom of Settings > Photos.
Second, issues with exporting 4k/1080 videos. Haven't seen any workaround so far. In this case (or if solution above won't help) I would recommend getting iMazing or smth similar, never had any issues with the transfer.
Using it for another purposes now but messages archiving worked pretty well, at least last year. They have a dedicated guide with all the info regarding specific settings and formatting (ignore the name, same steps and options for messages).
iCloud maybe? But don't remember if it synced photos added with iTunes. Check iMazing if you won't find any native way, should do what you need.
No possible way if you have different Apple ID's (which you should have normally). Check other devices with your Apple ID logged in, maybe you'll be able to sync them through iCloud (enable iCloud sync for messages on the second device and tap "merge" when asked). If it's not on any other device, your best option is get iMazing or similar and load it as PDF from her phone, then put it in Books or any other reader to keep them as a reference if needed.

NOTE: iCloud backup won't include messages if iCloud sync for messages is enabled.
iTunes and iCloud store just the last backup and overwrite any previous one. If you haven't saved it manually to an external drive 99.9% they're gone. Check the existing backup with iMazing trial, it has date search so should be easy. If you can't see the messages you need -- they're gone.
You can use iMazing to keep .ipa files and reinstall apps when needed, but it must be loaded while it's still on the AppStore. Check the guide.
I've also seen several threads recently where people could restore older app versions when restoring app data from the backup as .imazingapp file (loads the same app version from the AppStore as in the backup), but I haven't tested it.
Feature is free so you can just test it.
If it's an iCloud backup and you have iCloud Photo Library ON it won't restore Photos app content as it's not included in the backup.

Best option will be to install iMazing trial and check if it will show any iTunes iPad backup that you can browse. If you find one, search Photos/Camera sections for your data. There are some preview transfers so you may not need a license if you don't need to export a lot of data.
iMazing is another option, but again, do an iTunes backup as soon as possible (or with iMazing if you'll choose it) to make sure that messages are safe and nothing will happen with them.
So if you update to latest iOS 13 public beta and it won't take like 10 GB it will work. But as mentioned, apps won't get installed due to no storage so you won't be able to access data.

Best I can suggest is getting iMazing and excluding photos + unimportant apps (or just heavy apps) from the restore, it should give you additional space you need.
202 charge cycles is not even mid-life for a regular battery. Double-check with iMazing (feature is free) and Coconut as suggested (note it's Mac only).

Also this can be just a faulty battery that died earlier and indeed needs to be replaced.
iMazing can do this in one click ('Export attachments' option in Messages section), but you need license for this. Should still allow you to export some photos in trial if you want to test first.

Did this several times so can confirm it works perfectly fine. Also it has lots of other useful stuff so definitely a must-have app.
OK so most realistic scenario - iCloud sync was ON on both Mac and phone, so when she deleted photos from her phone they were deleted from iCloud and all synced devices... Idk what can be done if this is the case, sorry. Seen several threads about that Apple sup can recover them in some way during 30 days, but not all cases were positive.

Make sure she checked for a local backup of her phone. If she'll find it (even an old one) use iMazing to extract photos. Backup browsing is free, so check with trial first if there's anything to extract.
Coconut is accurate but Mac only. Not sure about iBackupBot, double-check with iMazing at 100% charge and make sure it's not hot in your room (gives same results as Coconut in my case, third-party battery so no report from Battery Health available). Also better track with charge cycles, 500-600 is a good reason to change the battery.
Have you tried basic troubleshooting (restart, sign out/sign in to iCloud, toggle iCloud drive, make sure you have space on iCloud, etc.)? If yes and it didn't work you can use iMazing for this, apps backup/restore is free.
Sorry if there was a similar suggestion already but if exporting from DCIM doesn't work for some reason get iMazing. Good UI, HEIC > JPEG conversion on the fly and has lots of other useful stuff. Totally worth the price.
No way except backup restore if you are asking about albums. For photos, do you have an iTunes backup? If yes, extract them to your computer with iMazing or similar, then think about if you really need to import them back :D
While iTunes is used to copy music from a Mac or Windows PC to an iPod, it doesn't allow you to do the reverse, and copy from an iPod TO a computer. For that, you'll need a third-party app. There are quite a few that do this.
Here's one that will probably work: iMazing
There's no way to export ripped tracks from iPhone to computer with iTunes or any Apple software, you'll need a third-party app. I use iMazing for this but never checked the metadata transfer. Test with trial, may be what you are looking for.

In any case I would still recommend keeping a backup on the external drive just in case, shit can happen.
Special char bug, see this post from iMazing: https://imazing.com/blog/ios-10-3-3-device-disconnected-error-during-backup-fix
Sorry to say this but iTunes keeps only one version of the backup (latest) if you haven't archived it manually.

p.s. To avoid this save important backups manually to a safe location (it's in iTunes backup location, folder with 40 random chars in name) or use a third-party app like iMazing that has incremental backups.
Get iMazing, it will help with both issues. Check your actual storage with free version, it will show actual space used including purgeable space (space counted as free on iOS and macOS, usually temp files that system should delete automatically).

You will need paid version for photos, but it's simple drag&drop with a good UI so worth the money.
Not sure what others are talking about. On your screen you have around 12-15 GB of 'Other' if not mistaking ('Andere') and everything that is after 'Other' is space available, should be around 33.4 GB.

Have you checked your storage with iTunes? Will it be the same? Also this can happen due to purgeable space (temp files that iOS counts as free space as it should be automatically deleted if iOS needs space). Check your space with iMazing (free version is enough), it shows actual space used.
Just use iMazing for ringtones. Supported in free version, no 30 sec limitation and you can import mp3 without converting to m4a.

Also it has lots of other useful features that make your life easier (in my case it helped me with a smooth switch from Nexus last year), but they are available only in full version.
If you have a backup of your phone with this app you can try to dig into Bitcasa files with iMazing. If you don't have the backup but app data is still on your phone, you can try to dig through File System.

Browsing data in iMazing is free so you won't loose anything in any case.
Do you have an iTunes backup with lost photos? If yes, you can extract them with smth like iMazing. Also it's one of the best solutions if you have HEIC photos as it converts HEIC > JPEG during transfer.

p.s. Have you tried restarting the phone? There's still a small chance that photos db was just corrupted instead of deleted. Not sure if Explorer has read/write permissions for DCIM and not just read.
You can do this with iMazing. Browsing is free so you can see the duration, but for exporting to CSV you will need the license.
Make a backup with iMazing free version and check if you see them in the backup. If yes, get a license and save them as audio files.
Don't worry and look for charge cycles and design/effective max charge. Get iMazing (Mac and Win, free version is enough) or Coconut Battery on Mac, they show battery health more accurately.

Also, check health only at 100%.
Try iMazing or similar. There's a strange behavior with Voice Memos and iCloud at the moment at least on my side, so if you won't see your records go to Voice Memos app first and play 1-2 records to trigger the download, or just disable sync for Voice Memos in iCloud.
No way without third-party apps as far as I'm aware of. Go to iTunes > Preferences > Devices and check "Prevent devices from syncing automatically", then get something like iMazing to export your music.
If you use iTunes from Win store try installing iTunes with the stand-alone installer from Apple, it has a slightly different implementation so could help: https://www.apple.com/itunes/download/win64

If you have Win 32 bit change ~/win64 to ~/win32 in the path.

But personally I would recommend something like iMazing for music transfer. Imo it's much better than iTunes for managing local music (no Library sync limitations, manual management), plus lots of other useful stuff.
Not sure about iTunes but you can try to do this with iMazing (paid). It displays all albums in Photos section, so you should be able just to open the album you need and copy all photos. Check this guide if you'll decide to try.
No way to do it with iTunes as far as I know. Just use any backup extractor like iMazing, it will detect iTunes backups automatically and allow you to browse and export the content.
OK can you access photos with a third-party iTunes alternative like iMazing? Also have you tried reinstalling iTunes and adding iTunes and Mobile Device Services to the exclusion list if you have any third-party security software?
Photos are in RAW or PNG/JPEG? If RAW, they won't be compatible with native Photos app as far as I remember. If Files app won't be enough you can try Documents by Readdle and import photos to it with File Sharing in iTunes. Or you can replace iTunes with iMazing or any other iTunes alternative. As a former Android user and current Win user most of the time imo it's much more convenient and gives you way more freedom without losing security.
If you won't get any luck with iTunes try iMazing. Ringtones management works in trial and you can import tracks that are longer than 30 seconds.
Most likely the backup got corrupted, you can't have less than 30 GB free space on the new phone I assume. I've seen some software on the web that can fix some corrupted backups, but never used it so can't recommend any.
If you still have your 7+ just sync everything with iCloud (yeah, you will need to buy extra storage but it's still the cheapest way) .
If you don't have it, install a trial version of a backup extractor like iMazing and check if you can open a backup and see your photos or contacts. If yes, get a license and transfer data from a backup to the 8+ without restoring it. There are some limitations usually (can't import videos to Photos app, must extract data to the computer first, etc.), but this is the best solution available.
Try iMazing, it downloads .ipa to the computer first so iOS 12 issues shouldn't be a problem. Here's the guide.
Also this feature is free so worth trying in any case.
Update macOS and iTunes, use trusted USB cable and another USB port, restart everything and try reinstalling iOS in >DFU mode<. Repeat this 2-3 times and if won't work go to Apple.
Here you go. Just in case warning N2: this will completely wipe Media Library on the device and ringtones, double-check that your data is backed up.
Disclosure: Thank you to guys from iMazing support for this instruction.
Deleting the library is a two-step process:
STEP ONE - DELETE THE LIBRARY
STEP TWO - REBUILD THE LIBRARY WITH ITUNES
Open iTunes
You'll be prompted to choose between 'Setup as a New iPhone' or 'Restore from backup'. Select 'Setup as a New iPhone'. This will rebuild your library, but won't affect the rest of your data.
iFunBox and 3uTools should be able to do this as far as I know but I've never used them. If you will decide to get a paid app I can recommend iMazing, using it for over a year now and it really made my life way easier.
It should load a fresh IPSW so just give it some time. Also make sure that the phone is actually in Recovery mode.
If everything fails you can try reinstalling in DFU mode: https://imazing.com/guides/how-to-put-iphone-ipad-into-dfu-mode
Not much options except restoring a recent backup. If you have a local iTunes backup try using backup extractor like iMazing to access messages and information from that thread. It's a paid app, but you can use preview version to access the info (browsing backup is free) and mirror it manually. Or you can export messages in PDF/TXT, but you will need a paid version for that. Note that it can't un-delete messages on the device itself.
Try iMazing (>guide<), seems to be the only solution for transferring single apps data so far. Can't guarantee that all data will be transferred (depends on app developers), but this feature is free so worth trying!
Okay, so, the alternative — and it's not supported by Apple and all — I've been using is iMazing (on Mac, but also available on Windows) to move stuff from and to my iPhone and I've been pretty impressed. It's been reliable for me, with a small hick-up here and there. You can transfer stuff from it using either a cable or WiFi. Been extracting my DJI videos and photos. iExplorer apparently also has an option to mount as disk but seems like you need to open the app first on Windows... So it's kind of meaningless.
Both of them (iMazing and iExplorer) will allow you to do pretty much the same thing, but I've found iMazing's interface to be nicer. The thing, however, is that mounting it as a disk or using those apps don't exactly give you the same functionality. The closest thing is drag and dropping stuff to and from apps like the free Documents (takes video, audio, text, images...) into their directory in iMazing. No Jailbreaking.
Backup encryption option is a tricky thing. The password is enabled per device and not per iTunes, and it's set manually, so it can be different from iCloud or iTunes password. You could set it by accident a really long time ago.
Check this >guide<, it explains what happened and your current options with instruction on how to reset it (thanks to guys from iMazing for the guide!).
Man it's crap. Are you sure you haven't archived the 11.3 backup? Maybe you still have the iCloud backup?
Regarding the game, if the progress is saved in the local backup you can use iMazing to restore only the game's backup without restoring the full backup. And as this option is supported in free version you can just test. Here's the guide.
Also I assume this may help to transfer some other apps from the iOS 12 backup to iOS 11.
p.s. I'm currently planning to try downgrading from iOS 12 to 11.4 without erasing all content (don't ask how for now :D ), so will get back if it will be successful.
If it's an ad-hoc app you should be able to install it with iMazing, here's the guide. Also apps management is supported in free version, so worth trying in any case imo.
Do this, copy data files of the app to desktop, delete and reinstall the app, make another backup and editable copy, replace the data files, drag the entire app to desktop, go to manage apps, and restore app with the file it created.
Sorry but it seems to be a case for the Genius bar... Try to put it in >DFU mode< (use the instruction for DFU mode and ignore the rest, just a good guide) and if succeeded, reinstall iOS with iTunes. If won't help, I think that only Apple will be able to help.
What exact files do you want to transfer (music, books, files to different apps like Documents or VLC)? I use iMazing for file management. Pretty stable and internet is required only for activation :) Check their >guides<, maybe you'll find something useful.
If you don't want to restore settings, accounts and similar stuff I'm not sure that any tool will help. This data is mandatory during the restore due to Apple backup design as far as I'm aware of.
Imo the best solution will be to sync everything with iCloud, then set up as new and resync data without restoring a backup. In this scenario, you may be sure that no crap files will be restored.
For apps you can use iMazing, it allows restoring apps data from a backup without restoring the backup itself, and it works with the free version. Here's the guide if interested.
p.s. Make sure to sync keychain and make an encrypted backup with iTunes just in case.
If you want to save texts as PDF/TXT/CSV and have them offline you can use iMazing (here's the guide, satisfied user of this app for over a year). Also, iExplorer, PhoneView and other will work. Note that messages can be extracted only from a backup, but you can get them even from an old iTunes backup if needed.
p.s. They can't access iCloud data as far as I know.
Don't know about iTunes 12.6.4 but iMazing gives a similar option, and downloading .ipa's is supported in the free version. Used this feature since winter and imo it's sometimes better than it was in iTunes. Check their guide on the topic.
It's kind of strange, there doesn't seem to be too much info online about playing H.265 video in the default app. Here's the advice I can offer.
I haven't personally tried it for H.265 video, but iMazing is really good for transferring stuff that iTunes doesn't like to transfer.
Also, VLC Works well for H.265 videos and supports hardware encoding.
Good luck!
There is an application called iMazing for PC/Mac that can export the messages as PDF or other formats which should be printable.
~~iMazing export guide~~
Nah, I tried it myself With IMazing or Ibackupbot, You can restore a single plist without JB
Edit: IMazing: https://imazing.com/ iBackupBot: http://www.icopybot.com/itunes-backup-manager.htm
Nope, these are some things you can change with iBackupbot, iMazing etc on a jailed device. Also I would like to add this isn't my spreadsheet.
This completely depends on the app. Some apps will have server side verification, some won't, and some will even include the amount of purchased currency in an unencrypted plist - we had a fun Angry Birds 2 tweak last year where we added $10'000 USD worth of IAPs and could have released that as a .imazingapp for everyone to install.
But of course, we went the white hat way instead: https://imazing.com/ios-developers-review-your-iap-handling-code
Note that on iOS 5, even if not jailbreaked iMazing will extract the IPA too.
Many People say Iexplore when reffering to IE.
I thought that was what you were reffering to. My mistake.
I found this which claims to export texts as pdfs
Oh that sucks, did you try these? Make sure you have Apple File Conduit 2 installed or you won't have full access to your phone.
• iExplorer - https://www.macroplant.com/iexplorer/ • itools - http://softonic.com/app/itools-for-mac/mac/download • iMazing - https://imazing.com/
I think it depends on what version of iOS is on it. Is the phone backed up to a local drive (Windows, Mac OS)? Backed up to iCloud? Have you wiped this phone of data, or is it still on the phone?
There are utilities that can pry into the backup file. Which is the easier option than trying to get if off the phone directly. I think you would you would possibly need to jailbreak it for that. (earlier versions of iOS on the iPhone 4 may be easier than newer ones). Other than that, accessing the files directly from the phone.
I use this one. https://imazing.com/iphone-backup-browser-extractor?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIzPuilMHN9QIVmMCGCh2Q1gZbEAAYASAAEgIS1PD_BwE
I originally got it to copy all the text and voice mail off of my mom's phone for her. But it does pretty well at retrieving files. Especially from the backup file that would be stored on your computer. It is not a disk recovery application though, like R-Studio or UFS Explorer. So it won't help if you don't have a backup or if you've wiped the phone.
If you've wiped (reset) the phone without a backup, I don't know what your options are. Most likely it's similar to an SSD and might not be recoverable. But a recovery pro on here would be much better to answer that.
Yeah, I've posted it in like every second post I make on r/Intune or r/macsysadmin. 🙂
I use iMazing Profile Editor to make macOS or iOS/iPadOS config files that I then upload as custom device configurations into Intune. iPE also supports making config profiles for third-party macOS apps like Web browsers and other utilities.
Since iPE is on both the Microsoft and Mac App Stores, I added both versions to my Intune app list so my colleagues can get the app from Company Portal.
In iPE, or Apple Configurator 2, you'll see that every setting is part of a category, or payload. Even if 2 config profiles don't touch the same individual setting but do use the same payload, Intune will fail to apply both profiles. So, I recommend one or two payloads per config file tops.
My biggest issue with Intune and Apple devices is just the lack of user documentation. You can find previous posts of mine where I'm just running into errors that have so few results online. It's pretty clear that the Apple die hards are using Jamf, and most Intune Apple users are using it because their company won't shell out for another tool. That said, I've whipped my Intune environment into pretty good shape.
It allows you to export all or specific message threads along with other options. If you want the full export features, you'll need to purchase the full version which I recommend. I've used it for years and it's extremely feature rich. I've yet to find anything like it.
If you’re looking for a nicer tool, but paid, check out iMazing.
https://imazing.com/uploads/screenshots/imazing/datasets/messages/messages-view.jpg
https://imazing.com/guides/how-to-save-iphone-text-messages-sms-and-imessages-to-your-computer
All the iCloud data and settings are tied to the Apple ID that your mother is retaining. When you login to the new Apple ID you create it will be like starting fresh. That fact that you and your mom are going to join together as a Family Sharing group will make some things easier to retain like a Music subscription and access to apps you have already downloaded. Other things aren’t going to be so easy, your message history will likely be one thing that may be difficult to retain. Whatever music settings like playlists will likely need to be rebuilt. App data will be retained as well as long as you don’t delete the apps. There is no reason to delete the apps anyway.
Now, to retain that all important messages data…
One thing you can try is backing up your iPhone to a computer and then restoring it when you are logging in to the new Apple ID. This may restore your messages while you are logged into the new Apple ID, so you don’t lose any messages, and allow you to continue with the new Apple ID. I’ve never tried this so I don’t know if this will work.
Another thing you can try is to backup to a computer using a third party app called iMazing and using it to restore your message data while logged in to your new Apple ID. Again, never tried this myself but it may work. You may need to contact iMazing support and explain what you are doing and ask if their software will help you retain those messages.
If you have any other questions just ask.
Seems like the full backup only backs up the app data, at least from this
https://imazing.com/guides/what-data-is-included-in-an-ios-backup
"Apps - since iOS 9 backups include user data of apps, but not the apps themselves. They are re-downloaded from the App Store when restoring a backup."
Since it's primarily script-based, wonder if it could be built in to Linux Android Backup? It's about time we built a proper iMazing for Android
Personally, I keep cracked backups of all APKs I care about.
This guide: https://imazing.com/guides/how-to-export-iphone-safari-history-and-bookmarks-to-mac-or-pc
says (at the bottom) that
