It's a generic adapter I think. I believe this one. I've had it for years and used it in numerous iPods.
For storage I went with th cheapest 256GB micro SD card from Walmart. I picked this one up in the store for about $32.
https://imazing.com/guides/getting-started-with-imazing
I'm sorry for your loss first of all.
I'm not too familiar with chromebook software(mostly use macos and windows) but That software I linked is called imazing, key to the name it really does work well, if you happen to have an older windows pc or Mac laying around or if a friend has one then you could use that one. The program is free(to my knowledge) I have it myself and tried it, it gives you the option to move all songs it found to iTunes or a sepereate folder on the desktop. I just looked it up and the software is not available on Chrome. That would be my suggestion, but I do hope you find a way to make this work. And maybe flash mod it if you want to keep using it after this! 😁. Have a great day. Hope this helps.
EDIT: didn't mean to say older Mac or pc, damn autocorrect. I meant another.
I did some testing, and it looks like it's the way I encoded the files.
I use an app on a Linux server called beets to tag all my music. (https://beets.io)
I rip everything to FLAC, use beets to tag it, add album art, ReplayGain info, and lyrics.
Then I use another beets command to convert from FLAC to AAC using ffmpeg with the libfdk-aac library. It looks like that conversion process is not writing the proper gapless playback tags.
I took the FLACs, converted them to ALAC. Then I dumped the ALAC into iTunes and converted it to 256K AAC, then I synced that to the iPod via iTunes and the songs played gaplessly.
Time to do some homework on how to convert properly.
that's a 1st gen ipod- you'll need firewire for that, no straight usb option, i'm afraid. you'll need a cable like this... https://smile.amazon.com/CGTime-Firewire-iLink-Cable-Black/dp/B06XXTSF8K ...and either an older mac computer with firewire ports, if you're using a mac a series of dongles to turn firewire into thunderbolt/usbc, or if you're using pc you can look at getting a firewire pci card if your pc has pci slots still.
First, make sure you have the latest version of iTunes installed which you can download here. With a cable connected iTunes should detect and use the iPod without issue.
You shouldn't need to mess with drivers in Windows at all. iTunes does all of the management for this, not Windows.
Consider connecting the iPod with a different USB port on your computer.
If you continue having issues, consider trying a new cable. While I don't believe the cable is at fault, it's a good troubleshooting step.
You may also try connecting the iPod in DFU mode. Hold menu and select until the display goes black while connected over USB.
Hope this helps.
It’s currently not possible, but I could see it becoming possible with Bluetooth 5.
Per my edited comment though, it might be able to connect to wired headphones through a headphone jack built into the device.
A device like this basically already exists, but in a completely different form factor: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MUXYVOA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_bxFfFbZ4TD1X0
These headphones punch way above their price range. I paid $245 back in 2013. They're currently $196 on Amazon. Mine are the DT 880. Specifically I got the 250 Ohm version, hence the Fiio L2 and Amp. The amp is the Fiio E17 amp. When I bought the Fiio L2, I actually bought two of them so I keep a spare. If I could find some of the 30pin ipod blank connectors, I'd make some LODs. But havn't really looked for where I can get a supply of them.
The DT 880 is an open back headphone, so I only use it at home. Not bass heavy and great sound stage and separation in the music. I love them. They've been a great investment listening wise, and I have had and will continue to have many years of listjoy from them. The cable was a bit long so I braided it to shorten it. One day I may make a custom cable and replace it. Just too lazy at the moment.
I read about this potential problem when I added a 250GB SSD to my iPod.
The issue is around the amount of memory the iPod has to manage the database of songs so I figured I'd try and minimise the amount of information about each track.
All my music files are mp3. I used TagScanner to tidy up the mp3 tags so I only have artist, track title, album title and track number. If part of a compilation that is also tagged and if multiple CDs then disk x of x.
I don't use iTune (I don't know whether that adds additional metadata to the database), preferring CopyTrans Manager.
So far, I haven't hit a limit. I don't have my iPod with me at the moment so can't give you any stats. I'll try and remember to update later.
UGREEN Bluetooth 5.0 Transmitter... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B082H7NWNR?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Cheers man, reach out if you run into any trouble with it. I totally found out about the transmitter from a post on here and couldn’t be happier to add some modernity to my pods, lol.
I saw people are using this which is good, but I not yet tried .

$25.99 on Amazon, it’s by UGreen for the Nintendo Switch. The u shaped design makes it work great as a plug-in for iPods too, i’m really impressed with it so far. It sounds arguably better than my aux.

Right? It’s honestly a great pairing, almost seems like it’s made for iPods. I got the idea from another poster on here and decided to give it a shot, I can honestly say it works great (so far, lol) and for only $26 it doesn’t break the bank.
Here’s the link

This is the battery you want to buy because it'll make a 2nd gen 10 GB last over 24+ hours..
A 2nd gen 10 GB can take a 20 GB 3rd gen drive. I'm testing soon with a fresh 20 GB drive that has the exact same model number as one of my 20 GB 3rd gens. If it works, you can just order the HD directly instead of needing to get a 3rd to break down. 15 GB drives also work too. These are pretty much the only ways you can upgrade your 2nd gen's storage.
A 2nd gen 10 GB can even work with a 3rd gen 40 GB HD, but it won't fit within the case.
Here is a another good soldering iron for $70.
Fair enough lol! Only reason I say that is it’s not all that expensive to upgrade to 64. I would further advise getting these. They are lower read speeds and are cheaper than faster read. The iPod can only handle 25/mbps so going too high isnt worth it.
>Your hard drive is dying, OP. Re-allocations or Pending Sectors are usually the red flags.
Well... That's sad to read. Thanks a lot for replying.

> Nice case by the way!
Thanks! I bought it off of Amazon! Here's the link.
Are you worried that syncing it to a new computer would delete everything?
http://osxdaily.com/2012/05/01/disable-automatic-syncing-itunes/
I believe the solution is to stop iTunes from automatically syncing. Then you should be able to access the content of the device via windows explorer (assuming you're using Windows).
Weird. What happens if you tell it not to restore? And what about using another program like MediaMonkey?
What version of iTunes too? If latest, try getting an older one at http://www.oldversion.com. Just know that when you search it'll show other programs before what you searched for first. Try version 10.whatever.
I know about Rockbox, but you can't play the official games from that firmware. In any case, I managed to figure out an elegant solution to my problem. I just reverted the firmware to the cracked version of 1.2.1 and converted the audiobooks that weren't loading in the right section. For those of you in the future who are Googling and find this comment, the solution to get audiobooks in the right section is to use a wonderful free piece of freeware called MP3 to iPod/iPhone Audio Book Converter. Voila! You can now play your audiobooks from the audiobook section (as well as play them at a faster speed, which is very useful for me!)
Yes, many apps will switch from portrait to landscape mode based on the orientation of the device. Some games also utilize the devices orientation for control, driving games being the primary example. iFunbox is probably the most popular free option for iOS device file management and iExplorer is probably the most popular paid option.
Now for a more useful answer:
I'm not too sure whether you can do that through iTunes, however, there are alternative iPod managers out there that will allow you to copy your music to your computer. I think Floola is still being actively developed, and has a version for either Windows, OSX, or Linux.
storage does have it’s limitations! you could always down concert you music, either within the iTunes settings themselves or a tool like mediahuman audio converter. based on my, albeit limited, knowledge of iPods, AAC/M4A is the most efficient storage medium, with being developed by Apple and optimized and all that. also keep in mind that converting down in bitrate will affect the quality of your music. best of luck!
You can just drag and drop your music from your iPod, but that will not preserve your play counts and other song data. I used TouchCopy for this in the past, and although it's not free, I've used it enough times over the years to make it worthwhile. You can get it here https://www.wideanglesoftware.com/touchcopy/
There is a report in TouchCopy named "Not in iTunes", which will show you all songs on your iPod which are not in your iTunes library. You can then select these songs and copy them to iTunes. You should be able to do that with the free demo, see here for a screenshot and the demo https://www.wideanglesoftware.com/touchcopy/features/
There is software out there that will show you songs which are on your iPod and not in iTunes. You can then copy these to iTunes, check the "Not in iTunes" reports in TouchCopy here https://www.wideanglesoftware.com/support/manuals/touchcopy/12/en/transfer.php
If all your music is already deleted off your iPod, you could try one of the file recovery solutions. I used iRenew a long time ago, as it's free, but think there are others http://www.softpedia.com/get/IPOD-TOOLS/Multimedia-IPOD-tools/iRenew.shtml
Sounds like you may need to try one of the 3rd party tools to transfer music from your iPod to your computer or iTunes. The one that keeps coming up as highly recommended is TouchCopy here https://www.wideanglesoftware.com/touchcopy/
There are a ton on Amazon - Amicable USB Date Cable Replacement for iPod Shuffle Charger Cable,(2-Pack) 3.5mm Jack/Plug to USB Power Charger Sync Data Transfer Cable for iPod Shuffle 3rd 4th 5th /6/7 Gen MP3 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071ZQ59Y4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_XC23MA68YFD8AHNCCGYV?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I personally use a Kokkia i10s (not my picture). I've had no problem getting it to pair with headphones, speakers, car. It sometimes takes a moment to actually pair, but that's a minor annoyance to me. The only real down side is the price. It's $67.45 on Amazon. Sometimes you can find it cheaper on eBay, but not often, and usually not more than a few dollars cheaper. Lastly, and as far as I'm aware, it's the smallest external bluetooth adapter for 30 pin. No battery as it's powered by the iPod itself.
This adapter is pretty solid and much more reliable than the red Chinese ones. There are iFlash adapters for the 3rd Gen but you don't really need them unless you are going above 64GB for storage.
i got this one cause it was big enough for what i needed. its pretty good
there is also a bigger one they do
I plan on buying this https://www.amazon.com/Compact-Merory-Converter-Adapter-Toshiba/dp/B00S6AK592/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=1.8+to+cf&qid=1608355532&sr=8-3. And this https://www.amazon.com/QUMOX-Compact-Memory-Adapter-Reader/dp/B019REDBY6/ref=pd_aw_fbt_img_2/130-2634089-9871524?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B019REDBY6&pd_rd_r=05870f86-afb1-4e7a-8a60-8326d236ab0b&pd_rd_w=1gARU&pd_rd_wg=2DRCH&pf_rd_... for my third gen.
There is. I recommend using PNY High Speed 128GB MicroSD cards. If you go with an iFlash Dual, use an adapter, which you'll need to buy separately. They're $35 each for the 128GB ones, which is very cheap. It's the only one I use. https://smile.amazon.com/PNY-MicroSDXC-Adapter-UHS-I-P-SDU128U185EL-GE/dp/B01G26R7LA/ref=zg_bsnr_3015433011_1
That's an Amazon Smile link. If you use it, it donates 0.5% to Girls Who Code, a charity I really like. Please use it!
My buddy just sent me a link to 250 ohm 990 PROs that are on sale for $157 at the moment if that’s your thing. I’m looking at getting a pair for my wife. I’m rockin the HD6XX Senns and I just picked up a couple of 4th gen iPod monos to fix up and enjoy.
The generic INSTEN 1300mAh battery from Amazon. I ordered two. One for my 4th Gen in the picture, and another for my 4th Gen iPod Photo.
Kaisi Heat Insulation Silicone Repair Mat with Scale Ruler and Screw Position for Soldering Iron, Phone and Computer Repair Size: 21.6 x 13.8 Inches https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DGTJ463/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_i_8SjzEbNZ4N8TB
I got the largest size from that Amazon listing. It's awesome for working on, magnetic pockets for small screws. Doesn't scratch stuff and great for soldering on as well if you solder.
Thanks for the tip! Turned out I needed to get a CF to SD card that had true IDE on it. This one here did the trick: https://www.amazon.com/Digigear-SDXCF-Extreme-Ultimate-Compact/dp/B00EPMWT1M
i bought these and they fit even my biggest iems comfortably, just wrap them starting at the headphone jack and then put the wire in the internal pouch and leave the buds dangling out on the inside and they work good.
Those blue and purple plastic picks that come with cheap repair kits are complete shit. They are too thick, and very brittle. From my experience, some nice guitar picks work really well for getting the plastic ends off ipod minis, and they are really usefull for working on mobile devices in general. this set is really good because they are very strong, and the pack comes with a variety of thicknesses which are usefull for different devices.
This is what you want if you have a normal TOSLINK cable: https://www.amazon.com.au/Digital-Fiber-Toslink-Adaptor-Optical/dp/B074Z416CG/ref=mp_s_a_1_13?crid=1VF5EWJ4P1RMT&keywords=toslink+3.5mm+adapter&qid=1667037451&qu=eyJxc2MiOiIyLjE2IiwicXNhIjoiMC4wMCIsInFzcCI6IjAuMDAifQ%3D%3D&sprefix=...
There are cheaper versions available. I just grabbed the first one I saw.
Could you tell me what kind of cable you use to connect the speaker and the express? Something like this:
https://www.amazon.com.au/Toslink-Fosmon-Digital-Optical-MacBook/dp/B01MY2DJUM
Thanks
I just bought Moondrop Chu and man those babies are awesome. If you want you can check them out plus they aren’t expensive .
https://www.amazon.com/Moondrop-Performance-Dynamic-Driver-Earphone/dp/B09XHTHG61
I got the same Docklinq Pro adapter for a Bose speaker with 30 pin dock. It works very well, and this way you won’t have to modify your speaker. I also got a Kokkia i10s Bluetooth module for an iPod classic now I’m completely wireless.
KOKKIA i10s (Black) Tiny... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004SH40BQ?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I haven’t tried switching for one to another yet, let me get back to you on that but audio quality is clear an good.
I also see no reason why you couldn't try some plastic welding rod:
Obviously, you don't need this much, just showing you the type of product. I haven't done it myself with one of my iPods, but none had really deep scratches. I have repaired cracks and deep scratches in kayaks with very (very) good results. I might also try filling the gouges with super glue then sanding. Just some ideas. If they weren't so ridiculously expensive, I would buy one just to try it out.
Ah bummer, here is another link to the replacement case that I purchased. This is for my model of course, but it was a quick search on Amazon to find a replacement. Took a few mins to swap the front face and the replacement back piece looks authentic, even includes a serial number of some sort, lol.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00HE121VY?psc=1&ref=ppx\_yo2ov\_dt\_b\_product\_details
You could try this one which I've had multiple successes with. QUMOX microSD to CF Compact Flash... https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B019RAY92I?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
And the price is right. Then I pop in a cheap sd.
Try using the red single slotted CF adapter instead; haven't had any issues using that one myself.
Another option, throw the iPod in 'Disk Mode' before attempting the iTunes restore.
Thanks! I actually decided to try a different bluetooth module since this one didn't connect to my airpods. I ended up using this one instead, which I had to take apart and desolder a few wires but it fits just as nicely as the old one. What's nice about this new one is that it allows me to turn off the module when not in use so it doesn't drain the battery when not being used. I'm still working on modifying the hold switch so that it can turn off/pair when pushing it down, but I've put this project on hold for now. Once I have more time, I'll finish it and post an update. If you don't care about airpod connectivity, then I still recommend the old module and you could probably take advantage of the antenna terminal to boost the signal.
It's an Itouch. Even with a dead battery, these still work if you can find a 30 pin cord or charging speakerdock. This one is great and has excellent sound. I have 2 and your post reminded me that I wanted another one. Used is fine - these suckers seem to last forever. Alternatively, it also works (with a dead battery) if you use an Apple brand 30 pin to lightning converter.
I bought one of these https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008PWN0I4/ in case I ever want to run it with wireless buds. The good side is it's sturdy and doesn't stick out like that, but you also cannot plug it into power while playing so it's mostly for mobility.
Ok, here ya go: KeyBudsz EarBuddyz - Amazon
This is the stuff, do be warned though, it's very slow working stuff, this is the sort of thing you're gonna want to put on a good movie to.
I used this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B083J98ZFX/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_ZXBT95WQHP4PNWR5G7SF?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Stripped out all the parts and case, then soldered it into the board. Read up on logic gates for how the buttons work and you'll need the relevant one for your iPod to send the power/pairing command to the unit.
It's a generic BT transmitter, they actually have them cheaper on AliExpress, but I couldn't resist the next day shipping!
No. You need that specific EarPod that was released with the shuffle. Or you could use any headset with this adapter.
Follow this : https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/iPod+Mini+Hard+Drive+Replacement/412
Replace the hard drive with this:
QUMOX SD SDHC SDXC to CF Compact... https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B019REDBY6?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
And pick an SD of appropriate size. I've used 128gb without issue.
Format the SD card as fat32 (I like to use minitool partition wizard).
Insert SD into CF adapter.
Insert CF adapter into spot where old micro drive was.
Enjoy iPod with better battery life and storage.
I got the moondrop starfields a while back and was pleasantly surprised.
Moondrop Starfield Carbon Nanotube Diaphragm Dynamic Earphone Without Mic https://www.amazon.com/dp/B082NQFW16/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_30CZ516S0C5R91472VEP?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I've used these in two different minis (2nd gen) but they worked perfectly with 128gb cards:
QUMOX SD SDHC SDXC to CF Compact... https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B019REDBY6?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
If you haven't done this already, two things to try: 1) format the SD card as fat 32 before inserting into the CF adapter 2) make sure the CF adapter is seated well into the pins.
If that doesn't get you going, try the item I noted on Amazon. They work well in my experience.
I'm just using the cheapest CF to IDE adapter on Amazon + the Digigear adapter and whatever 128GB SD card I had laying around.
CF to IDE: Aiposen CF to 50 Pin 1.8 IDE Adapter https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01B4WY5AI/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_WQ9C88VKC99CDP9JHJZX?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

And I think I'm using a TeamGroup 128 microSD card + whatever adapter it came with. I don't think you'll have trouble with any of that tho.
That's a regular clear plastic thinback case from Amazon.
Should be like $10.
Edit* here: Aiboco Clear Hard Case for iPod Classic 7th Gen 160GB (Thin Model), 6th Gen 80GB 120GB https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077D2Y9BP/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_AQT3BTDR73G9847MDJ3G
It likely has a bad battery that is expanding, causing the chassis to come apart. DO NOT PUSH IT BACK TOGETHER, expanded batteries are generally safe unless punctured. Bad bateries can also cause boot loops. Order this battery and use this guide to replace it. Hope this helps.
That's a hard one cuz IEMs are kinda meant to be a tight fit for closed-audio listening. Open-back headphones would be the typical solution for this scenario. Expensive headphones with ANC like Airpods have speaker modes that enhance sound around you so you can still hear while listening to music. I'm not sure about a cheap version that accomplishes this.
TBH what you're kind of looking for is a pair of IEMs that just don't fit you that well, so outside sound gets in. Personally I'd forget cheap IEMs for an office setting and go with cheap headphones, which can offer tremendous audio.
I've used this one: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B019REDBY6/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_BBH4AX1NB38NNQJ04JYS
In 3 different second Gen minis and never had an issue. The price is right and I can confirm it works. Can't speak to the one you pictured.
Excellent plan. I used: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B019REDBY6/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_BBH4AX1NB38NNQJ04JYS
With a 128gb card and had no issues.
Finding a battery can be a bit tricky, this was the one I used: https://www.ebay.ca/itm/NEW-1300mAh-BATTERY-SCREWDRIVER-for-IPOD-MINI-4GB-6GB-/392232893952?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l6249&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0
Which was nice because he came with the mini screw drivers to open it up.
Just be careful when you push the parts back into the iPod as the audio board can pop off or break. When you install the new battery take note to pinch the cords in so it doesn't inhibit reassembly, but honestly the mini is pretty easy to take apart and put together.
Enjoy! They're a reliable little beast.
It’s a Bluetooth transmitter called the UGreen. It’s made for switches so you can use bt headphones but it works for this application as well. Here’s the link https://www.amazon.com/dp/B082H7NWNR/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_SDWGWE8VE7XKS799X7M6?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Couldn't get rid of the scratches on the iPod Photo on the right, but still so nice and shiny!
Here's a link for those interested in the Cape Cod tarnish wipes.
No problem.
I'm using this:

This adapter:
CY SD SDHC SDXC to CF Compact Flash Memory Card Adapter Reader Type I High-Speed Extreme CF to SD Card Reader Adapter https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XD8ZP1P/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_E0VMXF5THZKK91KTZ2NA?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
And a 128GB PNY micro SD card.
Thank you for the swift response!
Unfortunately it's not the easiest to triage as it could have to do with your CF-SD adapter, the installation (perhaps it isn't fully seated into the iPod) or the memory card itself.
For reference, Ive used: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B019REDBY6/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_5W79HM951CWV2NR0RF0F without any issue.
You could also try a tool like Partition Magic Mac (can't endorse it as I haven't used), or if you haven't already, format the memory card before inserting it into the CF adapter, then try the restore.
Lastly as silly as it sounds, if those fail, try plugging the device in with a different cable into a different USB port.
As /u/G65434-2_II mentioned you can also try free utility called Rufus. I find it more convenient for preparing SD cards for iPod. Just choose "non bootable" option in "Boot selection" drop-down list and under "Show advanced format options" uncheck "create extened label…" It's fast, reliable and doesn't need manual tinkering like AOMEI. It automatically wipes MBR, deletes all partitions and creates just one new.
No personal experience (yet), but I've seen Rufus recommended.
Yeah, I've noticed that thing with AOMEI as well. While the options for the needed functions are there in the free version (at least in v. 8.8 I have installed), they're in slightly different places compared to the version used in iFlash tutorial's screenshots and seems to have pretty sloppy job done with its GUI, having fixed window sizes and interface element placement, meaning some crucial parts are right on the edges of windows and some are even completely left outside of them. Might have gotten fixed in later version, though.
Oh excellent! Here is a guide for doing it on windows, it's the same process if using OS X except for enabling hidden files. http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/how-to-move-music-from-your-ipod-to-your-pc-in-5-easy-steps/
Hi I used a cheap zif ro m Sara from Amazon Ximimark 1Pcs Mini PCI-E mSATA to... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07MGLGNSH?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
But I have seen it work for other people so I figured it would be fine
None of those
Stuff I use is called Cape Cod Polishing Cloths it's made for metals but great for plastic too.
Would probably be good with 2k grit paper too.
Well if that adaptor gives you any trouble, this is the one I've used more than once without any issue: QUMOX SD SDHC SDXC to CF Compact Flash Memory Card Adapter Reader Type 1 Supports WiFi Card https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B019REDBY6/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_0AE5WSD1Y08GZF9TZT3S?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

eBay has off brand ones for slightly cheaper than the OEM's https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://www.amazon.com/CyberPower-GC201-Heavy-Duty-Extension/dp/B01JRLSPRW&ved=2ahUKEwj8zbqvgaP1AhUbFjQIHaQQC_0QFnoECAUQAQ&usg=AOvVaw2XLYuxZ1GE5uZbB14emPk4
If sync your iPod with iTunes, your iPod music could be wiped as iTunes will try to replace your iPod libary with your empty iTunes library. There are third party apps that get around this though. TouchCopy is the one I used to copy all my iPod content to iTunes. Once you've copied it all to iTunes, you can safely re-sync your device.
Windows or OS X?
If windows try this and take ownership of your iPod: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/add-take-ownership-to-explorer-right-click-menu-in-vista/
OS X, I have no idea
Most likely it’s the old Let’s Encrypt root certificate that expired on Sept 30. The main replacement certificate was never provided by Apple in an iOS update and nearly all old iOS web browsers don’t have the option to manually add a new root certificate. Or at least, the old browsers I’ve checked all lack that option (Safari, Firefox, Chrome and Opera Mini)

These work perfect in my 5th gen. I have two of the 256GB ones but might put a 512 in at some point
I think there is even a better and cheaper bluetooth transmitter found here at Amazon. Did anyone tried this one?

Are these cards from iPod? iTunes formatted them with special disk structure. Reformat them first without CF adapter. If you're on Windows, I recommend free utility called Rufus. Select inserted card, choose "non bootable" option in "Boot selection" drop-down list, then under "Show advanced format options" uncheck "create extened label...", leave file system as "FAT32" and click start. Program will wipe and reformat SD card.
After that you can check its real size in Explorer or test real capacity with program like H2testw (google it). Of course run tests through CF adapter.
I feel the same way about iTunes!
I've been using the free CopyTrans Manager. It's a bit manual but a tiny footprint and doesn't need installing.
They also have a standalone driver package - look for the CopyTrans Drivers Installer on the downloads page.
There are lots of programs like sharepod you can use: https://alternativeto.net/software/sharepod/
But you don't even need to. Plug your iPod into the computer. Load iTunes. Load up the page for the iPod and make sure 'enable disk use' is enabled. Now you should be able to see the iPod as an external drive on your laptop. From there you can just copy all the music from the iPod to your machine. It might need some organising, but a program like tagscanner can solve that very quickly: https://www.xdlab.ru/en/
Here you go. If you print it, post a picture!
Great Score! In future you don't necessarily need an iFlash for the iPod Mini, I've used:

And it works brilliantly. You can also get 1300mah batteries off eBay for the mini, but the 'newer' battery's wires tend to be a smidge thicker so you have to push them down as you wriggle the pod back together.
I think the mini 2nd Gen is my favorite, even tops the 5th Gen and sounds just as good. Definitely a good score even without the nano.
Thanks very much for the info - so a microsd should work fine in something like this if I put it in an sd card adapter?
I can see there are 'type 1' and 'type 2' - does this make a difference?
I used: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B019REDBY6/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_X9G5Y5GVPYV7Y95VTBH2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 In a second generation iPod mini and it worked flawlessly first go. 17$ cdn + 22$ 128gb SD card is a cheap amazing 40$ upgrade
I was strongly considering ordering one from Elite obsolete however if you can find one locally on Kijiji or through other means replacing the micro drive with an adapter is pretty easy. Changing the battery however it a little more tricky just because they're hard to source however, I've read that even the batteries that Elite has sourced aren't always the best. If you upgrade the micro drive with an SD card in the second gen minis even the old batteries run a pretty good time. Try this item from Amazon it worked flawlessly for me and a second generation Mini.

The SD card in adapter cost me about 40 bucks while the mini cost me about 20. I was originally going to replace the battery because the old battery is old but honestly it runs me a good two hours still at least so it may not be worth replacing if you can't find a battery and you could save yourself some coin. By the way I'm talking Canadian dollars.
Since you have an iOS Device, there is no disk mode, and you can't see your music through File Explorer or Finder, even if you show hidden files (that method applies to non-iOS iPods). Instead, use a program to view the files. I personally like iFunBox. Just make sure you have iTunes installed as well and you should be able to take your music off.
It's designed to make all your music play at the same volume (audio levelling) but in my experience it's pretty useless. If you're having some of your tracks play louder than others, I use MP3Gain with my itunes folder and set all the songs to play at 89dB.
