I got a UAG case for it off eBay for $10 and it feels very light and sturdy. This is the amazon page, for details
For more minimalism but less protection, I liked the Apple leather case too.
The former has super responsive buttons, but the latter was more fiddly/stiff even after breaking in.
I actually just went through needing to play MKV on my phone the other day. I ended up finding the Infuse app (VLC doesn't have the codecs licenced), and the feedback on reddit was decent, so I bought it. I think it was $3.49 CAD or something, though there is a free version. I forget what feature I wanted exactly that the free one didn't have.
So far, it's pretty good. I'd like it if the had playback speed controls, but it's not the end of the world. It does stuff like fetch movie descriptions and other metadata, which is nice. It also allows you to upload over a web interface, or FTP, which is also nice, if you don't want to use iTunes.
Haven't tried WALTR though.
Can't go wrong with UAG. Drop tested by EverythingApplePro on youtube and it does great. Tons of colors to choose from. Pair that up with a glass screen protector and you should be golden. Amazon
Actually, you can purchase the glass at any number of wholesalers and retailers, and that is marketed towards people doing a DIY repair. The video OP posted is a glass-only repair as well.
If you have a fairly high comfort level for DIY repairs on personal consumer electronics, go for it, but make sure you keep your screws well organized. Putting the wrong screw in the wrong place can permanently damage your logic board. Make sure you have access to a hot air source like a hair dryer. Pulling on ribbon cables that are glued down (front camera flex and home button flex) can cause them to tear and will render those components useless.
Before you attempt anything, read through the step by step guide over at ifixit.com and watch a few videos on 6s Plus screen replacements to avoid any surprises. Also make sure any screen you order comes with a warranty against manufacturer defects. There's nothing worse than completing an installation and finding out the screen has issues.
Interesting, this sounds useful. I am looking for something more like this, but the recent reviews for this one is pretty bad.
In iOS 13, 3D Touch is nearly obsolete. Trackpad Mode on the keyboard is no longer even needed. You can just grab the cursor with your finger to drag it around. It grows in size to become visible and it lags behind so that you can see where it is while dragging it. If the cursor is too far away from the place where you want it to be, just tap on that spot to bring it closer and boom, it's right there.
Selecting text is just as easy. See all the features here: https://www.apple.com/ios/ios-13/features/
Everything 3D Touch can do, Haptic Touch can do and it's effortless because instead of using your muscles to make it work, you just calmly rest your finger on the display and 500ms later Haptic Touch is triggered.
Just remember, the longer you keep the iPhone 6, the lower the resale value will be, and the lower the trade-in value will be at Apple or with your carrier if they provide a trade-in service. Mine does. I didn't look into what it would be yet because I don't want to know yet.
If you get the iPhone 11 now (or Xr or 8), then you can get iPhone 12 at a nice big discount with a nice trade-in value or you can use the upgrade program.
Well, it isn't a cheap charger but it's not the official one. I use an Anker charger, has two turbo power ports. But as I understand it, if a phone can't use it, it only provides the power a phone can use. Pretty fancy stuff.
It's essentially this charger, but it doesn't say when I last bought it, so it must be an updated model.
Tempered glass screen protectors are 3/$10 on Amazon. If you're paying a $37 markup, they can replace or refund a few.
Just about everybody gets robbed on screen protectors once.
My bad, they're 3/$6. The ones I got were actually pulled for whatever reason. They come and go. I mean you can always get Zagg, Invisible Shield, and whatevs, but you're paying for that brand name. The screen protectors themselves really do not cost that much.
I have this one. I like it because the ridges on the case make it less likely I'll drop it. I bought it from Staples, and paid way too much for it.
OtterBox Commuter Amazon Link. Sturdy but not bulky.
I have a Spigen and a wallet I LOVE the wallet it was a game changer !! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B010MVJNTK/ref=twister_B06XPDWHF1?_encoding=UTF8&th=1 and a https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01DZV3G6U/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Look up the 360 case. It's amazing! Super slim and gives you the protection you need all the way around. I use to have a life proof case. The only thing that is different about this is it isn't waterproof. But the fact that it's only $10 is even better
So you will need one of these (or similar that is cheaper): http://www.apple.com/shop/product/MD826AM/A/lightning-digital-av-adapter
Then something like this (or similar): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01E1X51GE?psc=1
I currently have the Omoton screen protector let me tell you this one is the best screen protect I've ever had. Easy on the fingers, feels better then touching the native screen. Also works with 3d touch and has not glare.
I love my Otterbox. Haven't taken it off since day one and it feels like the phone is brand new
The cardboard 2.0 is the best affordable option.
The Homido is the best one I have found in terms of Immersiveness.
After a wee look, they are! Reasonably priced to protect your £600 mini-computer. This is the one I have for the 6s
I always go with a tempered glass screen protector. Instead of a matte plastic film that holds your shattered screen together a tempered glass protector is a thin (0.3mm) sheet of glass that goes on top of your screen. The glass protector cracks first leaving the original screen perfectly intact.
Doesn't have to be too expensive, either. I currently use this one: http://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00PTF461K?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00
I bought an Urban Armor Gear case and I love it. They claim it has military spec shock protection, and it looks great.
I have not yet purchased my 6S plus, but according to the reviews this is a half-decent brand. For $8 you can't go wrong!
Ended up going with a very basic TPU case from Verus. We'll see how it works out - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B013TK7MIU
Just got the text from FedEx that my 6s is waiting at their facility for me to pick it up. Going to be a long day at work.
