Noticed this on the Apple page for iOS 13:
> Optimized battery charging A new option helps slow the rate of battery aging by reducing the time your iPhone spends fully charged. iPhone learns from your daily charging routine so it can wait to finish charging past 80% until you need to use it.
It's supposed to be a Spanish only feature:
>Choose your term of address
To make your device feel more personal, in Language & Region settings you can choose how you would like to be addressed throughout the system: feminine, masculine, or neuter.
You can edit and rearrange the layout:
> iOS 11 lets you customize the redesigned Control Center so you can change the settings for the things you do most. Want to be ready when inspiration hits? Add a Voice Memos control. Want to dim the lights in the dining room with a tap? Add Home controls. Or use 3D Touch in Control Center to unlock even more commands.
Apple is pretty good about supporting older devices, but you didn’t mention which version of the iPad you’re look at. A list of all the iOS 12 (current) devices is available here
No one here can officially answer what devices will be supported on iOS 13.

Tinder is not a pre-installed, built-in, and/or automatically downloaded app. Apple provides a list of built-in apps in this guide, and dummies has a complete list too. Tinder is not on either list, and you can see that built-in apps are mostly utilities, like the calculator or a web browser. Apple also released a guide on the latest update which does not include any information about Tinder.
I'm so sorry, but your boyfriend is lying to you, and it's probably because he's cheating on you. Even if he hasn't done the deed, he's downloaded Tinder, is using it to talk to one or more people, and they're responding to him. That alone is terrible. You should not trust him, and he may be going beyond what you can prove based on the tinder notifications.

Nope, this is new. Offline finding in iOS 13 is when the device is not connected to the internet; this one is when your device is totally powered off when lost or stolen.
AirPods Pro only.
>With AirPods Pro, you can enjoy a theater‑like experience wherever you are. Spatial audio with dynamic head tracking puts surround sound channels in exactly the right place, even as you turn your head or move your device.9

A similar kind of feature is already present in iOS 12: Critical Alerts (⌘+F), and it overrides your Do Not Disturb and sound settings. Apple will review what critical alerts an app can send, but they're only designed for emergency use at this point.
It used to not say “for 24 hours” though.
https://web.archive.org/web/20210608002227/https://www.apple.com/ios/ios-15-preview/features/
Not sure if that was always the case and they just clarified on the website, or if they actually changed the feature.
I think you missed the actual release notes. That's the press release.
https://www.apple.com/ios/ios-15-preview/features/
I fully agree many of the iOS 15 updates are essentially app updates, there are also very many that are not. Many things can be updated via Project Mainline and the Play Store. but looking at the actual release notes, plenty even on Android would require an OS update:
Security updates
Camera updates
Notification updates
Accessibility updates
Find My updates
Modem updates (5G / Wi-Fi)
Privacy updates
OOBE updates (OS backup / restore)
Update updates (stay on iOS 14, but receive security updates)
Car Play (thus Android Auto) updates
OS-wide Translate
Text selection / OS context menus (drag & drop)
2FA OS-integration
Profiles / Focus Modes
Digital Legacy / Phone Recovery
New APIs (notifications, focus modes, accessibility, AR, screen time, etc.)
Universal Control (one mouse, multiple Apple devices)
Apple just admitted that iOS 13 will be able to track your phone even when the WiFi and cellular are turned off by “crowdsourcing” the location.

So it could be that even if permission to use your mic is denied to an app, other people around you might be listening and know who you are...
> COVID-19 immunizations and test results Scan a QR code from your healthcare provider and store your COVID-19 immunizations and test results securely in the Health app.
> I wish apple would add a “legacy contacts” feature for situations like this.
They probably seen many people asking for this kind of thing, so this is coming in iOS15
> Digital Legacy program
> The Digital Legacy program allows you to designate people as Legacy Contacts so they can access your account and personal information in the event of your death.
Tesla’s automatic lookup of album art for music ranges from occasionally-okay to laughably bad to embarrassingly bad, if it even finds art at all.
One can only fault Tesla so much for this — there is a standard for Bluetooth audio devices to pull album art from a (phone) music player, but it’s not widely supported. That’s changing, though. From Apple’s iOS 13 features overview:
> Bluetooth album art > iOS supports the AVRCP 1.6 standard, which includes album art when connected to a supported car kit or speaker.
Hopefully someone at Tesla has noticed and we’ll have the other end of that connection soon after iOS 13 releases in the fall?
Siri can now play music, podcasts, audiobooks, and radio with third-party apps.
Shortcuts are even more powerful, enabling you to interact with your apps in a conversational way.
Save a set of open tabs to Bookmarks so you can quickly reopen them later.
You can customize options for the content you’re sharing, like removing the Live Photo action or location information from a picture you’re sending to a friend.
Siri can now learn the voices of family members using HomePod, so everyone has a personalized experience.
A new option helps slow the rate of battery aging by reducing the time your iPhone spends fully charged. iPhone learns from your daily charging routine so it can wait to finish charging past 80% until you need to use it.
Control who your children can communicate with — and who can communicate with them — throughout the day and during Downtime.
You can now select Wi‑Fi networks and Bluetooth accessories right from Control Center.
The redesigned volume control appears in the upper‑left corner, so it doesn’t interfere with your content.

Search for Weather, notifications are there. Not saying something in a quick spot during a keynote is not the same thing as not announcing something. They never give all the details of a new feature during these, there isn't time.
This seems desperate especially in light of Apple's new Continuity feature.
And hell, sending texts from Messages on my Mac is one of my oft-used features!
So am I tripping or is Apple finally allowing users to not upgrade to a newer version like iOS 15?
> Software Updates
> iOS may now offer a choice between two software update versions in the Settings app. You can update to the latest version of iOS 15 as soon as it’s released for the latest features and most complete set of security updates. Or continue on iOS 14 and still get important security updates.
https://www.apple.com/ios/ios-15-preview/features/
Does this mean that users can choose to remain on iOS 14 (and subsequent versions) indefinitely? Why isn't this being talked about more? This is great for folks who want to wait and watch if the newer version is stable or attractive enough to upgrade to.
Works with AirPods Pro, AirPods (2nd generation), EarPods, Powerbeats, Powerbeats Pro, and Beats Solo Pro.
Check point 11 at the bottom of the page in link below
Yes. They called it Interactive Notifications.
https://www.apple.com/ios/ios8/design/
On this page, just below the images for Interactive notifications, there are 3 bullets. the far right bullet will show Facebook and it says
"Third-party apps
When developers update their apps, you’ll be able to reply to those notifications, too."
As a side note: It would be nice, once you swipe down on a notification, to be able to swipe your finger from right to left to show a couple more options. I could see in Facebook (just an example) the ability to Comment, Like, Reply to Message, or Reshare. I guess that would be dependent on the type of notification coming in also. Having more than just two options somehow would be helpful I'm sure. Whatever options are given, are sure to be faster than going to an app and doing it there.
To add more details: As of this year’s release (iOS 15), the oldest phone still supported is the iPhone 6S, which came out in 2015.
It’s important to consider also that not running the latest OS is not equivalent to not being supported. Apple has released security patches for older OSes in recent years (for example this update for iOS 12 (from 2018) which came out this year).
That’s not true as of last year like said:
https://www.apple.com/ios/carplay/available-models/
I was literally on the lot for like 2 hours and they even had the shop look into whether I could add it aftermarket as a paid upgrade. No dice.
Performance - I'm guessing they finally increased keyboard RAM for 3rd party keyboards? I saw in the feature list (https://www.apple.com/ios/ios-12-preview/features/), that keyboard would show up faster and perform better. I was guessing they meant the stock iOS keyboard but I found that GBoard runs great. Before the beta, I couldn't stay on a different keyboard for longer than 30 minutes because of keyboard crashes or just overall lag.
what? no it's not. it hasn't changed at all in iOS 8.

Yes > More app and system experiences are enhanced by faster 5G connectivity, including support to back up to iCloud and restore from an iCloud backup
> Support for English, Simplified Chinese, Spanish, German, French, Italian, and Portuguese is now included.
QuickPath supports several languages, according to the iOS 13 site.
Don't plug in your phone until the unit has booted. That seems to help reduce glitchiness for me.
Rearrange your apps to your liking on the CarPlay setting under Settings>General>CarPlay. You have multiple pages to use.
Look for CarPlay tips at https://www.techradar.com/news/apple-carplay
CarPlay apps are listed at https://www.apple.com/ios/carplay/
> The way they scrubbed it from their website
It was never there to be scrubbed. The earliest snap of the iOS 11 page shows zero mentions: http://web.archive.org/web/20170913020018/https://www.apple.com/ios/ios-11/
https://www.apple.com/ios/accessibility-tips/
Just found this. I didn't know the iPhone did about half of these things.
I am not a macintosh user, but it boggles my mind that highly profitable publicly traded company would spend time developing system-wide features that most of us will never hear of but greatly benefit a small and uniquely disadvantaged minority to enjoy technologies that most of us take for granted.
Buried in the iOS 13 preview page, besides the removal of an app on your phone affecting the CarPlay display and vice versa, there's also these:
> Bluetooth album art
> iOS supports the AVRCP 1.6 standard, which includes album art when connected to a supported car kit or speaker.
Great for cars that lack CarPlay, and if the driver doesn't want to use built-in iPod support.
> Second video stream support
> Automakers can develop CarPlay systems that show information in a second screen, such as in a cluster or HUD.
This would be nice for newer cars with digital gauges.
> Settings
> Now there’s a place to change display and Do Not Disturb settings.
Display settings? Sounds like there might be options there for text size, dashboard, etc.
Can you post some screenshots? Apple’s iOS 12 page shows notifications grouped on the lock screen (it doesn’t show the “Notification Center” text on top).
EDIT: Definitely seems like you’re running into a bug, not the expected behavior. Be sure to file a radar!
I don't recall if he said during the keynote, but Apple's iOS 11 preview site says it explicitly in a footnote:
> Person to person payments and Apple Pay Cash are available only in the U.S. on iPhone SE, iPhone 6 or later, iPad Pro, iPad (5th generation), iPad Air 2, iPad mini 3 or later, and Apple Watch.
It may eventually launch in other countries, but it doesn't appear to be in the plans for the near future. Green Dot doesn't operate in any other countries, does it?
CarKey is supported by 2021 BMWs and literally nowhere else, so don't count on it.
https://www.apple.com/ios/carplay/available-models/
Check back in 5-10 years. There's a rumor that Genesis will be the second manufacturer.
3 things stand out from this page:
I really hope those features can be used in an app that's otherwise iOS 7-compatible, for the sake of us iPhone 4 owners. :)
(I don't remember what, but after at least one previous major-version iOS upgrade I saw a lot of apps updated that would still run on iOS _ but would use new features from iOS _+1 if that's what was running.)
It’s on the iOS 15 Preview page. A lot of little things like that don’t generally get mentioned during the keynote (so here’s hoping there’s even more little things like that!)
> Sometimes I hate when Apple don’t even give any input about features like these. It’s been in beta for almost 2 years.
Huh? Portrait Mode has lost the beta tag since iOS 11.
Also, Portrait Lighting is the only Portrait feature in currently in beta.
Additionally, Apple acknowledges in the iOS 12 Features Preview page that these features are improved since it generates a mask when it detects a person.
They are probably messaging your email and not your actual phone number.
EDIT: at the bottom it shows that when you set it up you can use your Apple ID to message this is checked by default. If for some reason their iPhone started originally messaging your email it will continue to.
Maps will have this in iOS13:

"Place cards
Place cards are more helpful and easier to use, with dynamically updated information for things like Today@Apple sessions at Apple Store locations, movie theater time listings, and more." (vide https://www.apple.com/ios/ios-13-preview/features/)
Just a quick recap of new features based on this page :
- Use the new quick toolbar to add times, dates, locations, flags, photos, and scanned documents to your reminders
- Smart lists are more helpful, automatically organizing your reminders and grouping them by Flagged, Scheduled, and Today.
- Natural language input
- As mentioned before ATTACHMENTS!
As a long-term user of Things, I excited to take a look at Reminders in iOS 13. It looks promising.
Yep. It’s a supported device for iOS 11
Edit: sorry I thought you were replying to my other comment thread on this post where a guy is trying to claim Android has better long term software support.
https://www.apple.com/ios/siri/
The last tab on the page says "getting answers". Apple even lists a few questions you can ask. So I think that rather indicates that yes, one of Siri's features is a search engine.
I mean, it's not really about if you value it or not, you asked about what it does, so I listed stuff.
There's definitely people who are serious about fitness using it. It has all sorts of fitness metrics you can review and track throughout the days of you using it.

On the Mac you can pin and/or drag and drop results, and Siri works with the Finder to find files:
As others have mentioned the 5s has a faster processor, but also be aware that the 5c has a 32-bit processor. A 5s is a 64-bit processor.
A 5s is the oldest iPhone device that iOS11 will run on ( https://www.apple.com/ios/ios-11/ ), and all apps going forward I think will be required to be 64bit.
Should have quoted the relevant Apple page, which makes it even more apparent:
>Talk to Siri as you would to a friend and it can help you get things done — like sending messages, placing calls, or making dinner reservations.
Continuity is an umbrella term Apple is using for a range of new features that bring the iOS and Mac OS X devices closer. With Continuity, you are able to seamlessly shift between Mac OS X and iOS devices, picking up on one device right where you left off on the other. The main parts of Continuity: Handoff, New Airdop, Instant Hotspot Wi-Fi Sharing, Phone Calls and SMS Text Messaging.
You'll find all the details here (apple.com).
You should have updated to iOS 14 when you had the chance, now it's too late. iOS 15 runs smoothly, but some people are reporting stability issues even on the newest iPhones.
When iOS 15 becomes more stable with 15.1 or something, it should be safe to update. You shouldn't stay on 13, it's unsafe and it doesn't make your phone run more smoothly. "Worse battery drain" is caused by your apps and the way you use your phone, not iOS itself.
See the new features of iOS 15 on this page: https://www.apple.com/ios/ios-15/
Right now there's no way to downgrade, at least until Apple releases 14.8.1. They will keep releasing security updates for iOS 14 and whenever there are signed versions you can downgrade.
> Software Updates

iOS 15 is incredibly underwhelming but here’s your general overview and full list of features
The scarcity of HomeKit and airplay devices is by design. The fleet of Alexa and google enabled products are almost all spying on you or leave yourself open to a dozen vulnerabilities. Chances are your next Alexa device will be added to a botnet for a DDOS attack.
Apple requires on device encryption for HomeKit certification. And each device must be submitted and pass Apple inspection. Same must be said for AirPlay 2. The speaker or device must meet a minimum spec requirement to be able to use airplay 2.
These requirements mean that manufacturers might have to spend more money on quality parts and proper research when developing Apple targeted products. This makes the end result more expensive and only appeals to a certain market. The mass market of device manufacturers are going to target the easiest, fastest, and cheapest means of production. This means plenty of Alexa and google products, because you get their certification by asking for it, and have no requirements for quality or security.
As with most things apple, you are a part of an ecosystem built on being more refined, better designed, more secure and more private by default. With that comes a price and scarcity. That’s just how it is.
I prefer that to Apple not giving a crap and opening their consumers to the hell that google and amazon products have with rampant spying and poor support.
Have you been living under a rock? iOS 11 is going to blow you away when it's released later this year. Tons of new stuff.
https://www.apple.com/ios/ios-11-preview/
If you want to theme your devices to high heaven like android and have an ugly clusterfuck of a UI, then get android.
OSX announcement was done back in June and releasing very shortly. Frankly, it's much more appealing when paired with their phone. Hand off activity from your Mac to your tablet or phone be it email, web browsing, documents, maps, reminders. Answering calls from your desktop, messaging on any device with text, voice, images.
It's already progressed there.
https://www.apple.com/ios/whats-new/continuity/
Plus software, if I buy an app on an iphone, it's there on a tablet for me too. The idea of playing games on my phone and picking up on Xbox was so appealing to me. Never came to fruition. Halo Spartan Assault comes out for Phone, a year later I need to buy it again on Xbox? It's the same game.
Sick of waiting for Windows to get there. It felt so close a few years ago, but my devices don't feel connected at all. Win7 Desktop, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Windows Phone 8.1.
If you look at the officialial pages for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, there are a few manufacturers that seem to be on board with both.
actually with the new iOS 15 update (coming out monday)
there’s a special feature on icloud that lets you completely backup your phone regardless of icloud plan (even 5gb).
it’s here on the apple ios 15 features list
> Temporary iCloud storage to transfer your data
> Now when you buy a new device you can use iCloud Backup to move your data to your new device, even if you’re low on storage. iCloud will grant you as much storage as you need to complete a temporary backup, free of charge, for up to three weeks. This allows you to get all your apps, data, and settings onto your device automatically.
For me, this could be great:
> Personalize your iCloud Mail address with a custom domain name, and invite family members to use the same domain with their iCloud Mail accounts.
> One thing missing here for driving directions is lane indication.
They added lane guidance in iOS 11, but it’s still only available in certain countries. Hopefully they keep adding more countries quickly.
> there are still some POIs that aren’t on Apple Maps but are easily found on Google Maps.
FYI, if you use the “Report an issue” feature in Apple Maps, they’ll usually add the POIs within a week or so, sometimes even in just a few days.
It's listed on the iOS 13 features page: https://www.apple.com/ios/ios-13-preview/features/
>Independent app views
>

If it was possible to do AI like google they would, it is not a difficult thing to do especially with all the capitol they have. It is not possible because Apple still cares about security, the data they collect is essential for features, for example location data processed on the device itself via pictures etc. yet it is all processed on the device (check bottom of page, under privacy) to ensure security. Not on some “cloud” that stores data they are still security driven otherwise you would see things change.
It places selected apps from an Apple or Android smartphone on the vehicle's display.
(Edit: But Alas, my Mazda's two years too old).
Found this on the apple site under Air Conditioners which seems to include heaters now. Image one looks like the Home app. Image two is Siri. Three automation and remote access. And four has the HomeKit logo.
Here is the page it is at the bottom.
I guess it’s county specific, since I’m getting nothing here in Denmark. I wonder which other countries aren’t supported?
Edit: found the list. It’s really more of a case of where does AM support transit?
I follow Apple very closely, and I've come across this particular product because it's designed to take advantage of Apple's new HomeKit home automation standard. For example, this lets you control the temperature in your house just by talking to Siri on your iPhone, among other things.
I've had a Nest Thermostat for the few years they've been on the market, but Nest is now owned by Google, and has its own competing and incompatible standard, so I've considered getting an ecobee instead.
With an iPhone you can send-and-receive SMS on your Mac as well as place phone calls. Apple's Continuity and Handoff page is probably the best resource to learn more.
For number 2, if you have multiple accounts in one family, make sure you enable family sharing. My wife and I can make separate purchases in our accounts and download the apps as if they were our own.
BULLSHIT!
Every major iOS update says which phones will no longer be supported. There are also dozens of articles that republish this information.
Apple doesn't send a notification/email saying your device is no longer supported but they do list which devices are supported when they do the update.
For example I just went to https://www.apple.com/ios/whats-new/ and it includes the compatibility information right at the bottom. Literally just went to the new iOS 8 page and got the info. You have to be incredibly lazy to not know when your device is no longer supported. It takes literally 5 seconds with Google or clicking on the email link apple sends out when they release a new OS.
BTW iOS 8 is compatible with 5 generations of iPads and 4 generations of iPhones.
Here at the bottom it shows all you have to do is simply make sure one setting is turned on and it sends as a Text Message. Maybe part of the frustration from people who like you who would rather curse out a bunch of people on the Internet rather than attempt to dig into the situation, meaning going one menu deep in settings.
EDIT: Proof It was an auto enabled, day one feature on iOS 5. So everyone complaining, knowing enabled the service, then disabled this setting to try and get around carrier charges, now that that doesn't matter anymore, they are suing because they forgot to disable iMessage and had everyone they know turn this off to be cool. It's just another frivolous lawsuit by people who did it to themselves.
With Family Sharing coming later this year with iOS 8, I would keep the libraries separate. Multiple libraries can exist on the same machine. On a Mac, hold down the Option key when launching iTunes and you get the option to choose which library you want to access (user permissions are taken into account of course).
https://www.apple.com/ios/ios8/family-sharing/
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1589?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
Very much this. I think the progress and volume buttons need to be wider and taller.
Edit: Thinking now, this will only be useful in somewhat older cars. A large majority of cars today have volume and track controls right on the steering wheel. Even those aftermarket faceplates offer these features through a Bluetooth connection. Not to mention the volume will most often be adjusted using the vehicle's knob. An app like this needs to serve a bigger purpose than skipping music and adjusting volume. It needs to be a complete media player, which implements streamline ways to search and select music. Though many cars being built today have features to make that even easier (e.g. Ford Sync). Apple has even started getting into this with CarPlay. It's an interesting idea for a somewhat temporary problem.
There is a reason why Apple removed this feature from iOS7.1.1 . Due to full screen contact pictures there was lot of lag and delay while dialing a contact from the contact list.
It seems they are able to fine tune or fix the bug that caused this in iOS8
Check the screenshots for your reference

For in the city I just use the walking feature on Maps since I kind of know my way but for the ‘adventure’ rides I use Komoot. Apple Maps has cycling directions since iOS 14, but only in selected regions. I hope they expand that in the near future tbh
We have Apple News in Australia (one of only four countries to get it) and it's a waste of time. I stopped using it months ago as it was serving up crap from the same junk channels every day no matter how much I tweaked my likes and dislikes.
https://www.apple.com/ios/ios-14-preview/features/
In the "Settings" section: "Set a default web browser and email app that launch when you click a link or want to compose a new mail message."
Just the browser and mail, though. Well, better than no options at all.
Not sure why you’re being downvoted. Apple lists this feature as new in the iOS 13 features page. I definitely never saw this before and works universally on all apps with scrolling.
As Siri has radio does that mean I won't need a third party radio app anymore, I'm not sure weather Siri radio refers to Apple Music radio or true local radio stations. Also can I get a woot for the files app supporting local storage at last
This isn’t new at all. It’s not even a hack or a secret. This is a feature that came out with iOS 12 and Apple even calls it out on the iOS 12 on their website. Here under Even More section.
I am posting Apple's recent iOS 12 update link below, to highlight the developing ecosystem supporting MVIS tech. Even though this specific update is more likely aimed at the apps being pushed onto their Apple Store, this official AR/VR recognition is part of the "wake-up" call to all the lovely market forces. Check out the "Measure" feature they pushed to your phone too...the world is slowly gearing up to fully accommodate MicroVision's tech!
This is not a bug. It was never stated that Siri could translate TO English: "Ask Siri in English how to say something in Chinese, Spanish, French, German, or Italian, and Siri will translate the phrase." https://www.apple.com/ios/ios-11-preview/
Based on your phone carrier, can I assume you’re in India? Maps is only available for CarPlay in areas Apple supports turn-by-turn navigation, which doesn’t include India.

https://www.apple.com/ios/feature-availability/
Missing Predicitve input in swedish. We very recently got SIRI in swedish, which doesn't work that well.
From the list a good example is Apple Pay. (Not hating, I understand such things will take time). It's only available in US and recently UK.
Yes. That's what the Handoff feature is for...no idea why they chose writing emails across devices as the case example when SMS is so much more common.
Have to wait until Yosemite releases in October though.
I wonder how many sales were lost directly because they got CarPlay integrated so late. 2020 according to Apple. That was the number 1 feature I required when buying my car.
Everything apple changed on ios 15, is possible via playStore. it's not magic

The systems that manufacturers build for their cars are not the same thing as CarPlay, which essentially allows your phone to use your car’s display as a second screen. IIRC the first car manufacturer to implement wireless CarPlay was bmw and they didn’t do it until 2018.

Next to '21' at the bottom of the page, it says "Available on iPhone XS and later in English (U.S., UK, India, Canada, Australia), Mandarin Chinese (China mainland), Cantonese (Hong Kong), Japanese (Japan), French (France), German (Germany), and Spanish (U.S., Spain, Mexico). Requires download of dictation models. "
Huh?
If you have a CarPlay certified app on your iPhone, it will automatically be included when using CarPlay in your VW.

If you download the iOS beta and you have a supported TV you can AirPlay to it. Depending on your TV you may also have to sign up for a beta program with them:
Here are supported TVs - https://www.apple.com/ios/home/accessories/#section-tv
I have a VIZIO tv and I am currently streaming a movie from my iPhone to the TV
According to apple.com, it is available on the 2019 Avalon: https://www.apple.com/ios/carplay/available-models/
Maybe it’s only available with certain packages or options.

RE #3, the iPhone SE is on the latest iOS and will be able to update to iOS 12 in September. The SE uses an iPhone 6s chip (A9). The oldest iPhone supported in iOS 12 is the iPhone 5s (A7), so you can assume the SE will at least receive iOS 13 in 2019 as well, if not more updates.

If you decided on a car, go to their website and configure said car as if you were buying it. Some vehicles have it by default (meaning no extra packages), some need an extra package.
If the vehicle needs and extra package, ask the rent car if the vehicle in question have said option.
Of your son has a Mac computer, then he can download Garageband for free. It has virtual instruments built in. Then you could get him a USB MIDI controller. This controller hooks up to the computer, and can be used to play all the instruments inside Garageband.
> Not really. There's 19% VAT and in the EU you have madatory 2 year warranty which is double that of the US
That's nice, but then you realize that what is actually mandated by the EU is very little. Mostly it's just the countries deciding to grant you those two years factually, or the seller being nice.
What you have to consider is that the SELLER provides those 2 years warranty. The limited 1 year guarantee by Apple is something entirely else and under Apple's control.
Then you look at Germany and how you get PRACTICALLY SPEAKING 6 months warranty. (reverse onus)
Oh and don't forget that Tim Cook reminded us all that you don't pay for the specs, but the experience.
Considering how many key features of the ecosystem or the OS are heavily limited to certain region in the world you could argue that all of the EUR-region sharing one mostly the same price is ridiculous.

Just for shits and giggles, don't do this, it's a crazy thing to imagine though
There's an app within the phone called Tips that should help. You can also check out Apple's page on iOS 9 to see what's to come.
Personally, I think the best way to catch up with software improvements and tips/tricks is to watch Apple's WWDC keynotes where they first introduced iOS 8 and 9, assuming you have the time.
Wait. You should know that there is always a new iPad and new iPhone every year. Around September for iPhones, around October for iPads.
Also, there are rumors of a potentially different sized iPad. And with what has been shown at WWDC this year in iOS 9, a new size iPad is becoming more of a possibility!
