Here's the link to the amazon store page. These signals were easy to install; the only issue I have with them is the cord that plugs into them doesn't click into place like it should. The brightness is about the same as the stock signals.
This looks sick. 👌
For the little guys neck....head bumpers They are amazing. My daughter still is using them when she falls asleep at 1.5 yrs.
If you have an engine with a top-accessible filter and you aren't using this, you're doing oil changes wrong. No more lifting, no more skid plate removal, no more risk of fucking up your oil pan by cross threading (though I've never done this, I've heard of it happening), and no more replacing the plug gasket. Save a TON of time.
In my experience, it's quite thorough as well. They are cheap, this is the one I bought: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00LCEWR4A/ref=oh_aui_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It's 5.3l, so it's only good for 1 change and it will fill it up. Mityvac is a good brand if you want to pay a premium, but I think you get a larger one.
Yup! Just takes some vinyl that you can get off Amazon (or sometimes cheaper if you have a local source) and a little bit of elbow grease and determination to install!
To learn I just watched a ton of YouTube videos, I found anything with Justin Pate or The Wrap Institute were always helpful and showed different techniques.
The biggest thing is just patience and just keep trying! You're going to mess up a decent amount of vinyl getting the hang of it, but it's quick to pick up and pretty fun!
I think it’s a pretty affordable way to maintain your car. I use the Optimum ONR - No Rinse Wash And some basic supplies
I can provide a full list of anyone interested.

Purchased these from Amazon based on looks alone here
Over all pretty good. They don’t have the iPad holders like other brands but that doesn’t matter. What does matter is that these match the interior pretty well and keep the leather seats from getting abused by toddlers.
I was able to feed the bottom anchor straps around the seat track on the passenger side. Unfortunately due to electronic seat controls, I couldn’t get the same routing to work on the driver’s side. Luckily I was able to stuff the strap into the seat crease.
Overall initial impression: great looking, cheap in price, does the job. Would buy again and recommend.
Edit: readability
Don't buy anything at deautokey. You're going to pay a 4x markup for absolutely no reason. Find the bulbs you need, and look on Amazon. I used these for my car and they had every bulb I needed minus the footwell and trunk ones. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071LHP5WP/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Check out Torque. I'm not sure if its on iPhone but that's what I use on my android device and it can do what you are looking for and much more.
You will also need a Bluetooth OBD2 adapter. I got one off of amazon for $8.
Don't know why this thread is getting downvoted. As someone who absolutely hates the style of the Mk7 mirrors, I think blacking them out (either a glossy piano black or carbon fiber) makes them look A LOT better. It blends it in more with the windows and the surrounding black trim.
I also made a quick mockup of what it would look like with the stem/lower part painted to match the body color. Please excuse the crudeness as I don't have Photoshop on this computer (best I could do with Pixlr). Anyway I think both look better than stock.
I just joined the MKVII GTI club! Unfortunately, right before winter. I have some junky snows lying around (wheels are junky, tires are good) that match the center bore and lug pattern. They worked on my Passat TDI (buyback soon), but I'm concerned about rubbing on the GTI.
Stock Austins & tires are 225/40r18 and have about 2.25" of vertical clearance when the car is at rest.
The snows are old TSW Estorils with 225/40r19 tires and about 1.75" of vertical clearance. They also sit out a bit wider (less offset, but I don't know how much). I'll probably hit 'em with a wire wheel and test a paint color on them over before I put them on. Suggestions? Thinking dark grey or bronze.
Can anyone with experience with bigger wheels on a MK7 GTI confirm/deny rubbing?
Skyline Drive in Virginia. Well worth the visit.
Nearby there is Tail of the Dragon which is 11 miles of sexy ass road.
Showed another user on this sub this bracket earlier today, thought some of you might find it useful. It’s a cheap bracket I found on Amazon (I bought the $5 one). I ziptied the bracket to the grill and level as I could, and then used the provided screws to put on the plate. A lot cheaper than a standard tow bracket and imo I think I like the way it looks more too
and for the side mirror indicator lights.

Gladly! These seem hard to find or acquire, so once it showed back up on Amazon and confirmed in stock I had to. EDIT: The quality on these make them worth every penny. The lanyard is made with seatbelt, the "claw" clasp and swivel are smooth and solid, and the chrome buckle/clip is actually machined metal - not coated plastic. The best thing to do to properly clean and protect leather is hit the leather with a leather cleaner such as lexol and then condition it.
Vacuum your seats first. Spread the cracks/seams and get in there. This is very important.
Be sure to use a little warm water sprayed on the seats and a soft bristle leather brush (cheap on amazon) to work up a lather and agitate any dirt out of the grain. Wipe dry with a bunch of microfibers.
Then hit with leather conditioner (lexol makes one of these too). Follow the directions on the bottle closely. This helps to create a protective layer.
I have had great results with lexol products when used in the manner above so that’s why I suggested them, no affiliation at all.

Huh?
If you have a CarPlay certified app on your iPhone, it will automatically be included when using CarPlay in your VW.
https://www.apple.com/ios/carplay/
Go there for a list of certified apps.
You can purchase the top cap and I would recommend some dynamic turn signals to go with it.
The lower portion of the outside of the mirror I believe is part of the mirror assembly itself. If that is the case, you either buy a new one or call a couple junk yards in your area to see if they have a MK7 you could get the mirror from.
im about to snag the chemical guys setup. seems to be the popular choice. 100$ on amazon with a bunch of soaps and extra goodies

This Curt from Amazon. I bought it because it just holds up bikes, it doesn't have to be fancy. I got it with Prime shipping in 2 days. I installed it with a friend in 15 minutes. You have to drop the exhaust temporarily, but there's no cutting or other BS required.
The Kuat Transfer doesn't block the rear camera much, even when folded up. With 2 bikes on it, you can't see much, but it's still better than no backup camera. I just used my Mk7 as the SAG vehicle at my bike team training camp, and it did great.
I LOVE you user name. It's awesome.

Honda's entry level vehicles have literally gone to crap. In the 90s they were some of the most reliable vehicles...you could count on them to make it to 200k+ miles. I had a 2006 Civic. The bumpers fell off...the interior disintegrated, the lights filled with water, the seat adjustment mechanisms broke, the seats fell apart, the auto transmission started going to shit at 60k. Best of all, the paint fell off after a couple years. It took Honda 8 years to admit faulty paint on the Civic and many other models. In 2008 I tried fixing the small chips myself with dealer touchup paint. When the recall finally came through in 2014, Honda denied my claim because I had already "tampered" with the paint myself. Thank god someone rear ended that POS and I got a decent cash payout from it. I have a 2012 GTI. Sure there have been reports of problems like the faulty water pump, but at least VW has been covering them under warranty and not leaving their customers with deteriorating cars for a decade.
Thanks for the ping u/QuasiAutomotive !
u/BigWhit75 : step 1 is I used an xacto knife to cut off the plastic tab on the part that would normally slot into the door (they don't exist on the 7.5 as you can see.) I believe there's only one to cut, the other one slides out of the thing it's in. step 2 is I used double-sided VHB foam tape to affix to the door, two inch-long strips should do it.
Conversely, a wireless Carplay adapter works great too. I use the below with a magsafe vent holder for my phone and I love it.

What are tablets costing these days? you can get a pixel 2 XL for $99 renewed. this is actually what i just use as my daily phone. should be more than powerful enough for anything you're trying to do.
I use this... https://www.amazon.com/Bissell-3624-SpotClean-Professional-Portable/dp/B008DBRFBK/
Otherwise I'd just use a brush, and upholstery cleaning solution, and suck it up with a wet/dry vac or blot with a dry towel.

The turn signal indicators? They're the Osram sequential lights; got them off Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07RXQPHGS/

true, but a much more elegant solution. in the long run, drink 2 less starbucks and you'll make up the difference, but the add-value of a mount that looks integrated into the trim is irreplaceable in my opinion
EDIT: similar to the mk7 mount i got is this one, 30 bucks, and any adhesive magnetic mount off amazon would do, like this one, <10 bucks
Assuming you meant MK7. Here's my 2cents
I changed mine last fall to the rain-X latitude. overpriced, don't go for them. didn't sit well on the windshield and left a streak in the middle portion right in my driver's view. They didn't have a rain-X for the rear wiper blader so i went with the trico 11'' one back there and that has been awesome, better than stock.
Given how satisfied I was with the rear wiper blade I just ordered trico front ones, they should be here this weekend. much cheaper than the SI-tech ones you referenced.
Here is a link to the amazon page, can get the front pair for ~30. I can update this comment once I get them on and test them out to give you a better idea.
That will look great the the steel gray! Here Is the amazon link. Application is super easy. Just wipe the area with rubbing alcohol, then apply.
If you live somewhere warm or your car gets above 110F or so, avoid anything with a built-in battery. They won't explode necessary but some have been known to bulge out or malfunction in hot temperatures.
Make sure you buy the right SD card as well. Standard consumer-class MicroSDs aren't really all that suited for the constant write/delete that dashcams require. It comes around in the long run: you will likely just have to replace the cheaper one sooner anyway. If you haven't budgeted for that, or for a fuse tap, or trim pulling tools, make sure you do that as well.
Also if you start noticing lots of the options on Amazon look the same, but with different oddly-named manufacturers (Apeman, Rexing, etc.), they probably are. The dashcam market appears to be rife with R&D fraud, lack of patents, or some combination of the two. There's a lot of reviews out there on YouTube, /r/dashcam, etc., so I'd definitely recommend checking a few different sources and be wary of Amazon reviews.
I bought a Viofo 119s after a bit of research recently, installed it via a fuse tap, and have been pretty happy with it overall.
I use the liquid pre-mixed formula (Amazon Link). You can find this at most stores that sell cleaning supplies too. I put a small amount on a sponge and then just rinse it off after.
here’s a good beginner one. you’ll need to wash your car and decontaminate before you put it on.

Have you tried adjusting the grill yet? Are your lights seated correctly? It can be tricky since the MK7 doesnt have the tracks the MK6 had. Make sure your bumper is pulled up all the way too.
I have ed's lights and everything lines up great. I did buy the LP grill too. http://i57.tinypic.com/k1fedh.jpg
Here's a pic before the LP grill. http://tinypic.com/r/27x2x5s/8
I've used the Carlinkit 2.0, 3.0, and now 4.0 -- all work pretty flawlessly on my Mk7.5. Only flaw I've discovered is that seeking with the steering wheels controls doesn't work (only skips) and there's quite a bit of phone battery drain (but that might also be my 3 year old iPhone 11 Pro showing its age.)
That’s the correct one, but get it here. Much cheaper and I think VW may still have a rebate on VW accessories. They had a 15% back on mine so I got around $70 back.
And you just need that and then some tools for install. Basic plastic pry tools for the side panels and then radio removal keys and a depinning tool. I got something like this. which will have everything you need for this and future projects.
Could you expand on the process you went through with this? I'm currently having a similar issue. The PDI was half assed when I picked mine up and had it redetailed once, then the next day I saw it in the sun with all these swirls. I took it in again yesterday and had them do a hand polish, but I still see a number of swirls (and what I believe to be scratches) on the window pillars and hood. I've talked to the AGM who basically said every car was like that and there was nothing they could do. The only people to touch the car was the dealership and it looks to me like their wash mits had a shit ton of particles on it. How'd you get them to make it right?
The little rattle could be timing belt tensioner.
Check the calipers are ok (especially the rear on the mk5s)
I have the TSI so dont know if the fsi is the same but common fail points are the diverter valve, the pcv valve and the cam follower.
Check the dip stick has is not broken at the top so the o ring stays in place. It should look like this
They get broken below the o ring and unmetered air get in.
Also the rocker covers get loose over time.
Check to see when the spark plugs were last changed and of course oil/filters!
Good luck with the purchase and post us some pics!
My '13 just hit this milestone this morning.
Took delivery on 12/12/12. I drive too much.
Yes, I would be losing Sirius from my RNS 310, but I would be getting a whole host of new features. I would be getting the Google Play Store, which will allow me to download Android apps, and use Google Maps as my GPS. It includes integration to the canbus (air conditioning, etc). You can program the steering wheel buttons using onboard software. It includes an amplifier, dimmer mode, VW branded loading screens, full screen media player (movies, music, photos), along with WiFi. It supports EML327 ODB2 monitoring using the Torque app, which displays speed, boost, coolant levels, etc.
Use case: Download the Netflix App, tether your unit to WiFi, and watch Netflix while driving! I'm pretty sure you can attach a 3G dongle which will allow you use your carrier SIM card to give your car always-on internet.
I'm really close to buying it. I've been trying to ask the seller some questions, but haven't got a response.
It looks alot like this product, not sure if its the same:
Easy. Grab a copy of dBpoweramp music converter:
http://www.dbpoweramp.com/dmc.htm
Install it in trial mode, and use the batch converter to mirror your FLAC collection into a MP3 one. You might have to let it run overnight depending on how big your music collection is and how powerful your computer is, but it'll do the job well.
I did actually. And the vast majority came down to two things.
People who gapped them improperly, and people like me who ran them far past the change interval.
I also spent a lot of time digging after the fact and started conversations with APR themselves, my tuner, and even EQT to get another outsiders viewpoint not directly related.
It's still a recommended plug by tuners as long as you use a proper gap tool (not a coin or bashing on a table) and change them on time.
I'm still running RS7's. I also bought a proper gap tool. And I've instated a new personal maintenance routine to change them at every 8k miles with my oil.
If you dig enough. You'll find people with issues for any plug. Don't even have to dig far either. One of the guys at at EQT often shares his experience and that's one recently.
There's always going to be a risk. It's going to come down to how you manage it. If you do things properly, you should be fine. If you slack like an idiot like I did. Well, you're gonna have a bad time haha.
It's a replacement cover. It would've been could of they made it a pushable button though.

Thanks!
I used a roll of black vinyl tape off amazon and badge inlays from Badgeskins (the tape took a few trial/errors to get where i wanted it to be but I still have a ton left over).
here is the tool you need really not expensive.
i totally forgot about my serpentine belt until 100k miles and was like "oh shit i should probably replace that". still looked brand new when i pulled it out hah. don't forget the brake fluid flush. most people forget a bout that. its due after the first 3 years and then every 2 years following.
I have my license plate just like yours except I used a $5 bracket from Amazon so I didn’t zip tie the plate directly to the grill. Makes it look much cleaner imo, I can dm you a pic of you want to see
I used one of these. You can use it to splice together the gray wire on the back of the headlight switch with the wire marked for the dimmer on the P3 control box. Gray goes through the open channel, the dimmer wire goes through the closed one. Takes only a few seconds. Just a heads up: if you use the OBDeleven app "Scandinavian tail lights," you'll need to turn it off to get this to work properly. And don't forget to change the display dimmer setting on the gauge.
Alternatively, you could just dim the display by pressing the button on the gauge for a few seconds, but I'm lazy.
What a horrible job. The fucking spindle thing is so difficult. I had to buy triple square sockets. Pass through sockets. Ugh. Not as easy to work on as my old STi. But damn it looks good.
I went with Godspeed Traction-S springs
https://www.amazon.com/Godspeed-LS-TS-VN-0002-Traction-S-Performance-Lowering/dp/B01MT7UHYJ
They ride just like stock. A little more firm and less body roll.

They for great. I replaced the tape on them with some waterproof 3m double sided tape.
Took me just about an hour. Used the Mother's Clay Bar kit. Comes with a detail spray that's used for lubrication.
I'm personally pretty new to detailing. Never really took care of paint on my cars until this VII. Only 3rd time doing it. So I'm learning more as I go.

I used the Sylvania headlight cleaning kit on Amazon. No tools required and worked like a charm! Lights stayed clear too. How badly did it snap? You can just use some plastic bonding glue to put it back together. It's what I use whenever clips break.

You can just buy your own bottle and do it yourself for less than $50. Buy this and some good microfiber towels. Since they're new, clean the wheels first with diluted rubbing alcohol. Spray the coating onto another microfiber and gently wipe along the surfaces of the wheel. Give it a few minutes to set before buffing the wheel with a clean microfiber.
That's a pretty cool concept but I personally wouldn't want to spend that much to hide the paddles. These are the ones I got and I think they look great. Haven't had a want to hide them away haha. I'd save the $200 and use it on some of the many other mods available for this platform. Those euro tail lights have been catching my eye lately.
Of course, if you have the money, supporting the more expensive brands over chinese knock offs can't be a bad thing.
You could go for the Helix sub for a more oem solution that should also improve your speakers thanks to the built in DSP.
Alternatively I’ve heard the JBL BassPro systems are good, like this one here
Sonax 03401000 Rubber Protectant GummiPfleger, 3.38 fl. oz. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01GS3EIIC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_fabc_QQ19Fb5GDK8F3
You should be using something like this for all rubber sections on the doors and what not periodically. Not sure if this will fully heal that but it should help protect it going forward.
Without a micro SD card, it won't record anything because there is no internal storage. Specs say that an 8GB is the minimum requirement. The dash cam is kinda pointless without one. I recommend a high endurance card.
It will power on and allow you to connect to it through the Drive app without a SD card. You can use the Live Feed feature but again, no recording. You can disable parking mode if you want but since you've hardwired it why not leave parking mode enabled.
It’s a novelty custom plate. In states like the one I live in you only have to have a rear plate. The front one is not required.

Ging gut!
Viel Spaß mit der Karre :)

2nd this...Got mine from Amazon and it's a decent change over the stock one. You can actually hear it "hiss" once you remove the "grate" in the airbox.
Look at Cobb tuning for performance modifications, if your tight on money a stage 1 tune is plenty for most and it's honestly how the car should've came in the first place. It costs about 675 for a access port and an air filter. Cobb's biggest competitor is APR which is slightly pricier with a bit more, but the accessport is really unbeatable because you can flash your ECU yourself and do everything yourself. Couple aesthetics i would consider is something like the Mk7 side wings http://www.ebay.com/itm/141060504693
I also got these from amazon https://www.amazon.com/Rupse-2PCS-Seat-Wrench-Insert/dp/B0094A6UUQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1474337528&sr=8-1&keywords=GTI
Makes entering the car feel a little bit better. This is my advice to you if you want to spend 1k or less. honestly the cobb accessport is a godsend and everyone should have one lol

I use this because I don't want to block vents or stick anything onto my windshield or dash. If you're driving stick it'll get in the way. It's very sturdy for a $17 mount and fits my note5. If you want one on the dash/windshield look up iottie on amazon.
Mine was the Godspeed one from Amazon, but I can't find it anymore. This one looks identical.
Note: I painted mine more solid red. It came in a metallic red.
Vw has an official gti branded seat cover i got one on amazon.

one of these kits from Amazon has a lot of what you need, i.e. bucket/grit guard/wash mitt/car soap/microfibers/wax/detail spray for drying/
personally my kit has accumulated alot of shit over the last two years but these are excellent places to start. Also if you are interested go over to r/autodetailing and read the wiki for beginners i learned a lot there
Haha, I don't know if it works on a Mac or not, but you could buy a cheap laptop or windows tablet in Amazon. I use one like this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00W1X00Z4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_13pvzb2YTAE2K
I used to have a little tablet with windows 8 on it that had a USB port as well which worked for me. Either way, the HP Stream is very good and super cheap! Had mine for years now with zero issues, I keep it in the passenger seat pocket. I originally bought it for my GLi 3 years ago because I wanted something sized specifically for the rear seat pocket so it didn't stand out at all. It was perfect in the GLi seat pocket, the GTi's pocket is a little shorter in height but fits great and I have tinted rear windows anyway.
Buy a GENUINE vagcom cable from Ross Tech whether it's brand new or used on the Golf mk7 forums or VW Vortex forums. It's not worth being cheap and buying an eBay knockoff.
same color as mine, color code is LC9X, paint pen on Amazon here. just prompted me to go ahead and order one hahahah https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0094X8AHY/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A1AFOMRKGZPFDX&psc=1
Thanks. The mount is from Amazon, the Platypus Tow Hook mount. Bought it at $79, it's now $93. Pricey but one time purchase.

Get a digital quick read TP gauge off of Amazon or something and check it occasionally. Should only take a few minutes of your time.

Personally I don't think I'd like the tow hook being off center, but I saw this Bell drill-less mount this morning and now it's on my Amazon list for when I get my GTI.
Thanks! It's just Pinstripe tape from Amazon! You can find it at your local Auto parts store most likely as well!

You can find OEM Audi/vw touch up pen and clear coat pen for under $15 on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/Genuine-Volkswagen-Carbon-Steel-Metallic/dp/B0094X256G/ref=mp_s_a_1_fkmr2_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1525175563&sr=8-1-fkmr2&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=vw+carbon+steel+gray
i use an amazon basics car charger. Its worked very well and charges devices quickly. its 2.4amps per-port which is pretty good
i keep it plugged into the center console and feed the wire from under the arm rest so its out of the way.
Found this on amazon: iJDMTOY (1) 10" Germany Flag Color Stripe Decal Sticker For Euro Car Audi BMW MINI Mercedes Porsche Volkswagen Exterior or Interior Decoration https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00OU8V5IO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_7nLuBbNE5B7XA
You can get it at Amazon or your choice of online sites.
Simply clean all seals with a damp microfiber cloth, wet the applicator and moisten the seals. Do your doors, hatch and hood seals too, especially if you are in a winter zone.
Just stick with Liqui Moly on amazon. I've never seen any European oils in autozone.
Hitches are the way to go! Im currently using the Curt 11412 hitch on my '19 gti. I had a curt hitch on my veloster and it served me well. Amazon will state this will not fit on the '19 gti's but i confirmed on curt's site that i will in fact fit. Installed without any issues!

I'm pretty sure it's for Mk5 and Mk6 only. I have a MK4 GTI and dug into it once. You can google the RMT 100+ - it doesn't do carplay but it does add bluetooth, a USB, and an SD card slot. And it's OEM.
Here's a link to it on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/VOLKSWAGEN-1JM035157AT-RMT-Bluetooth-Radio/dp/B01CRVIC54
$25 on amazon I was skeptical because on ECS's website they're like $250 but it clipped right in. My only complaint is that the boot has a little bit more material than ideal (you can kind of tell from the pic that the red stitched seam is longer than the seam on the OEM boot) but damn it looks good.

This is what I use to clean the barrels of the wheels and the little grove that runs behind the spokes. There are a tons of kinds of these on amazon. You just want it to be a little flexible. First spray with water, then I spray it down with a mild wheel cleaner like Griots green stuff, I buy it by the gallon, it seems expensive but a gallon will last years. I don't like the super strong wheel cleaners that seem to just melt the brake dust away. Then I have a bucket with regular car wash soap, dip the brush from amazon in and scrub the inside of the wheel. I have a regular mitt for doing the spokes. Dip the brush and mitt in a clean water bucket to get the grime off.
I got this amazon fire tablet when it was on sale cheap and sideloaded the play store to download the OBDeleven app. It works well because I only use it for this app so I don’t mind the ads on the lock screen.

Nah, just regular pinstripe from Amazon.
> Any one tried to fit these in before? Both Amazon and Philips said it’s a fit with our cars but it felt like a little bit too big for the socket. > >
Those aren't the good ones. They don't have the rear-facing emitters that the earlier Philips 921 had, so they won't effectively illuminate the reverse lamp reflector. Even no-name Chinese shit like "DeAutoKey" LEDs will be better than this Philips LED at actually illuminating behind you.
In my personal experience, as much as it pains me to say it, the JDM AStar 921 Max reverse LEDs are good.
These are probably even better.
They might throw errors on a VW, but at least in terms of illumination, they're great.
Sort of custom. /u/cheech5 helped me out finding the parts to mimic the Buan Performance kit. Guy wants $800, I recreated it for about $400.
