im not condoning particular kind of behavior, but if you were to subscribe to a VPN service such as NordVPN or some other ones, and enable that VPN when doing things, they wont send you any more nastygrams because they dont make that level of effort to try and figure it out.
There’s a person on NextDoor who offers professional Japanese whetstone sharpening at $1/inch of blade if you need something niche. https://nextdoor.com/for_sale_and_free/8c5cc44c-ff52-4797-9436-28db8e9854fa?init_source=copy_link_share
Regular ants are often easily controlled with ant bait (it's basically just a mix of borax and sugar). I've had good luck with this stuff:

Carpenter ants might or might not pay attention to it, I suppose it can't hurt to try.
Hello and welcome to Ithaca. At this link, you can find the high and low temperatures for each day, month by month.

It's cold, yes. But you are on the right track with your question. Dressing in layers, as others have advised, is key to go from cold outdoors to warm indoors (and sometimes, a bit hot, to be honest). I grew up in a cold place, although not here. In my experience, the very most important things are warm socks and warm, waterproof boots; a good hat or hood; thick, waterproof gloves; a scarf; and a warm, waterproof jacket. In other words, your outer layer.
The weight of the coat will depend on your personal tolerance to the cold and how thick you like your layers underneath to be. My SO never wears anything thicker than an insulated hoody, but on some days, he also has a thicker tshirt underneath and a waterproof windbreaker on top.
Are you starting in the summer or fall? If so, you won't need any major winter gear the minute you arrive. You will adjust!
Unsolicited advice: Anytime you see the sun in the winter, get outside even if only for a little bit. Find a winter activity you like outside of your living space, even if it is sitting in a coffee shop and watching the snow fall.
FYI I just had "expatistan.com" add "Ithaca" to it's "cost of living index". If anyone wants to help flesh out data there, here's the URL:
http://www.expatistan.com/cost-of-living/rate/ithaca-new-york
They provide cost of living comparisons for a select set of cities internationally, and it made sense to include Ithaca since Ithaca is so anomalous for the region.
I saw your post earlier today and then saw this online so sharing in case you haven't seen it...Emmy's organics, a local healthy snack company, admin asst job. Is that the kind of thing you're looking for? http://www.indeed.com/viewjob?from=appsharedroid&jk=4cfeef44e8594d89
PSA We can't see you when we are driving
We also can't see you in your black on black running outfit
We also can't see you without reflective
Think about something like this reflective vest on Amazon that is lightweight durable and much more high vis from the front and back
Thank you
If you can't find a garage or a buddy who has one, consider buying a simple carport that you can put over it. It'll be important to poke some holes in the canopy and anchor the support structure extra well (multiple deep metal stakes and maybe a tag line for security) for the winds. You will most likely have to scrape snow off the top so it doesn't get too heavy and buckle. The other idea is to just use a normal bike cover and let the snow build up around it but you will almost certainly have to replace it come next riding season. More importantly is the winterization process for your bike itself. Do some research and figure out if you want to put some fuel stabilizer in the tank (and if you want to leave a full tank or empty tank or remove the tank alltogether) to avoid rust. Also I recommend removing your battery and keeping it on a tender over the winter. Or you can just buy a gel battery and never have to think about it again.
>Is it worth to repair or buy a new one?
I mean you could just buy a different lock for it.
Please please please try a yoga wheel before you go to another chiropractor. My husband has had back problems for 20 years and this is the reason he doesn't need to go to a chiropractor. My sister fell off a horse twice and had back issues. She has stopped going to chiro since using these. You pay one time, you don't have to go anywhere, and no one is trying to sell you their supplements.
Specifically one of these. More than $1 but well worth it!
Please consider trying a roller wheel instead of going to a chiro. This set is fairly expensive, but if you search yoga wheel on Amazon you can find much cheaper. And will save you loads of money not having to continually go to the chiropractor. My husband has spinal damage and uses this daily to get adjustments. My sister previously went to a chiropractor after falling off her horse (twice). She bought one of these last year and hasn't been back to the chiro. This will help get you the adjustment, but you should also research how to strengthen your back to stave off whatever is causing the pain. Not medical advice, just hoping to save you money!
My most useful tick tips:
- If you're gonna be in an area with ticks, treat your clothes with permethrin (at minimum your pants). Works infinitely better than bug spray/deet, which is pretty minimally effective against ticks. Bug spray is intended to "repel" ticks, but permethrin kills them. Just use caution if you have cats (it's dangerous to cats as a liquid, but once it dries on your clothes its fine)
- Lint rollers are your friend. Ticks will often crawl around on you for a while before biting, so as soon as you're out of the potential tick area, run a lint roller over your whole body. If there are any ticks on you that haven't bitten yet, it'll pick them up and remove them instantly.
- Tick key - easiest way in my experience to remove ticks. I keep one on my keychain at all times - https://www.amazon.com/Original-Tick-Key-Removal-Multi/dp/B0014B1TR2/
Airbnb. You"ll do much better than hotels. I just finished a major remodel on this place. No fire or Jacuzzi, but a king bed and great collection of sexytime soul records. Regardless, you can check out my listing's guidebook for good stuff to do in the area. If you would like to stay in our place, just send an inquiry through airbnb and mention reddit. I will waive any minimum stay restriction and give you a 10% discount.
Buffalo Street Books can be accessed on E Buffalo St . It's right next to the Greenstar Oasis supermarket.
Here's a short loop, right nearby:
Do it over and over again, nice place to practice turns. Klein road is more fun going up, then down.
More often than not knives don't need sharpened rather honed to bring them back.
You can do this yourself, easily, cheaply.

There's hundreds of videos on YouTube.
I do machining, I got these to sharpen my carbide inserts, but I have found they are amazing for sharpening my knifes. They are a diamond coated steel plate, reasonably priced. Circles at a 30 degree angle up and down the blade on both sides, then a few long strokes at 30 degrees on each side. Doesn't work for seraded blades though.

For future prevention, there are some things you can do. First, fix the insulation problem that's causing the issue. If that's not possible or too much trouble, you can buy these special heated cables that you attach to your roof to melt the ice!
You can actually buy a respirator with HEPA filters online, recently. That, along with appropriate handwashing, will protect you a lot better than a cloth mask.
AirVPN (New Jersey server). Disconnecting from the VPN works, I'll just do that in the future or use my phone.
It's possible their system or network has the VPN server blocked for some reason.
Thanks!
Pick up something like this:
And you can refill it easily from whatever source you find convenient.
We use Google Voice. You buy this box and hook it to your internet, and configure it, and then Google Voice is your home phone. I actually have had it for 4 years, across a couple of different moves.

There is an app just for Ithaca that covers most events and activities called "Ask Pearl" here is the link on the Google Play Store, pretty sure it's on iOS as well. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.askperl.app
