Here is the main route the McDonald's would have taken to get to Haverhill NH for Wednesday the 11th, to meet up with Billy. https://www.mapquest.com/directions/from/us/ny/cornwall/to/us/nh/haverhill It follows the SAME route that Maura would take to get from UMass to Haverhill ALSO....
Even more curious, if one looks at Billy's cell records, he talked with Bob on Monday night for 34m, BEFORE anyone knew a thing about Maura leaving or the Saturn being found. Then, NO CALLS to Bob until Friday the 13th in the afternoon. So, UNLESS Billy told Bob to meet him in NH on Wednesday at the Monday call, NOT KNOWING anything of Maura vanishing, and DOESNT CALL BOB when he finds out Maura IS MISSING on Tues aft, then HOW DO THEY ALIGN THEIR PLANS? No calls between them, YET the McDonalds rush to NH on Wednesday? Drop their jobs and whatever, to be by Billy's side, but without ANY contact between them during those days? WTF?
Welcome!
Just a forewarning, you will become obsessed with this case. Once you go down the rabbit hole, there is no coming out until it's solved. For a recommended brief overview, check out the documentary on Investigation Discovery. Also, here's a Wikipedia-like page for an in-depth synopsis of the case in its entirety. Obviously, the subreddit, /r/MauraMurrayEvidence will become a huge resource along with other articles and threads associated with the Maura Murray case. Enjoy!
P.S. If you ever have questions, please feel free to direct message me. I'm happy to help!
Many points to address, but to choose one: the night Maura disappeared the conditions were mild; the temperature you cite was actually from the early morning hours of February 9 (in other words, the night before). Details here, which froggydogg helpfully provided.
i think shes trying to say her car whatever state its in was obviously meant to be treated very delicately and the crash ruined that. why are you trying to stir up drama its not that deep 😂
I removed this post last night, because someone reported it. I've since had second thoughts. This is from the sub, The Maura Murray Case. Please be assured that we are in no way affiliated with this sub or the person who runs it. Please understand that if you go there, what you will see posted are suppositions, speculation, and outright lies. This person was banned from the sub for trying to breed arguing and infighting. Some of our subscribers have tried to straighten this person out with facts, however, the results are the following:"Hi everyone, I have posted a PDF of the original thread since some of the instigators in Maura's case like to delete their comments afterwards. MagicDrone, Maura's family's own private investigator, was snarky and disagreeable in numerous comments in this thread, then quickly deleted his posts. This is a common tactic of some of the people in this case. Scroll down to Magic's comments to get to the good stuff: https://www.docdroid.net/qBpXdbI/maura-lookalike-but-not-maura-mauramurraycase.pdf.html http://docdro.id/qBpXdbI". Just a warning. If you read at that sub, please verify that what you're being told is indeed fact. We have a few subscribers who do try to present the facts and this is what happens to them. This is one more who tries to steer this case from the truth. We are fact based, not quiz based. Thank you for reading.
You were right, as of 2014 New Hampshire had one of the lowest rates of missing persons. That said, conditions may have changed since then, so a friendly reminder for everyone to be safe if you go to the area looking for Maura.
Except that the data does not really bear out such a conclusion. Maryland, New Jersey, New York, and California all have a higher missing persons case rate per 100,000 people than New Hampshire. Cities actually seem more attractive for crime in many ways, and indeed crime rates tend to be higher in cities. At any rate, I doubt many criminals travel to crime friendly states to take advantage of such differences.
States that do have higher missing persons rates tend to have more rural areas, which makes sense in terms of the probability someone remains missing. Alaska, Arizona, and Oregon top the list, none of which is especially criminal, but all of which have large tracts of empty land.
5:06 PM according to the weather history for that week. The moon rose at 8:54 PM that night.
That is a really good point - that evidence doesn't prove you're guilty. I guess it's the assumption of guilt that I have such an issue with. I don't deny she drank some quantity of alcohol that Saturday. So I guess what we consider 'reasonable doubt' is just different. I don't think there's anything wrong with that. I just think the presumption of guilt without sufficient evidence isn't cool.
Re: the evidence alcohol was involved in the Haverhill crash: I see what you mean but at the same time, Butch says she didn't appear drunk and police said there was a witness who claimed she appeared intoxicated. I don't know how to reconcile that. But also, I don't think they never said the box of wine was empty. I question whether it was even open, because the police report doesn't mention anything about an open container. And I think it's possible that the 'alcoholic smell' and the red liquid on the ceiling and underneath the car could have been coolant. NH State Police said specifically that it was underneath the car, which to me says 'fluid leak'. I realize it might seem like a whacked idea but in case you're interested, I go pretty far in detail about it https://tinyurl.com/jlsph4t
Windows Instructions
1. Create a Folder on your computer to house the backup.
2. Install Wget from here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/gnuwin32/files/wget/1.11.4-1/
3. Place this file in the folder created in step 1---> https://drive.google.com/open?id=0ByBfe6nS9-d4WFNGWmM3Y2RXeHM
4. Copy wget.exe & 4 dll files from C:\Program Files (x86)\GnuWin32\bin into the folder created in step 1
5. Open command prompt
6. CD into folder you created in step 1
7. When inside folder you created in step 1, type (or copy and paste into it):
wget -r --no-parent -c -t 0 -N -i BackUpMainMauraMurray.txt --no-check-certificate
8. Wait for all 651 comment threads to download. (This could take several hours at a fast network speed)
Note: You can reduce the number of threads in the backup by removing particular urls from the text file. The text file I provide a link for is a simple list of all the comment urls in this subreddit from the beginning.
This backup could take up to 10 GB of space, so make sure you have enough space on your hard disk
Note: The html files are saved in a folders within the www.reddit.com folder wget creates on your hard disk and within the folder you created in step 1.
For example: HTML files are stored in the FOLDER c:\BACKUP\www.reddit.com\r\MauraMurrayEvidence\comments\4xhgge\why_the_saturn_probably_didnt_hit_a_tree_but - after I ran the backup on the Evidence subreddit.
You have to move or rename the www.reddit.com folder before doing another backup, because if you run wget a second time, it will replace the files within the www.reddit.com folder wget creates.
Plus, Netflix allows for more creative control. Ghost, from other posts you've made I've gathered you are not a big fan of true crime podcasts (especially the one I am going to mention next) but on Martinis and Murder the hosts interviewed the director of Who Took Johnny and he had some really interesting things to say about making the film with Netflix vs ABC or NBC or whoever it is that the documentary was originally going to be aired with.
I want to highlight the difficulty of the one-day hike Fred Murray describes in this interview. The Bondcliff, Mount Bond, and West Bond Trail is 22 miles with 4,600 feet of elevation gain (some good pictures of the terrain here). In comparison, the distance from Maura’s crash site to Lincoln or Franconia is roughly 18 miles with no more than 1,200 feet of elevation gain. If Maura set out on foot for either, she would have had full confidence in her ability to reach them with several hours of moderate hiking, especially since (according to her brother) she had zero fear of the dark wilderness.
If you’re willing to spend a moment looking at the hour-by-hour temperature records from February 9, 2004, I’ll show how you made an understandable but critical error that puts you about 30 degrees off the actual temperature that night.
Here’s a link to the nearest New Hampshire weather station with hour-by-hour records from the night Maura crashed. It was extremely cold (0ºF) in the early morning hours of February 9 when Maura was still in Amherst, but by the time she made it to the Weathered Barn the temperature had warmed dramatically to right around freezing. It stayed that way all night as the hour-by-hour records from February 10 show. The bottom line is that conditions were survivable the night Maura went missing as long as she kept moving and didn’t get wet.
Your mistake was assuming the low temperature on February 9 would have occurred late that night rather than the previous morning 20 hours earlier. It’s a common error working with temperature data and underscores the importance of seeking hour-by-hour records.
Literally read this book 2 months ago. And no, it’s not me. The main character hiked anytime she had free time, for years…didn’t matter which season.
At 7:53pm, the temperature was recorded as 35°F with winds at 6mph. Not certain what the cloud cover was, but according to this link, it was a mostly full moon.
I also just did some weather history for comparison:
https://www.wunderground.com/history/daily/us/nh/manchester/KMHT/date/2004-2-9
https://www.wunderground.com/history/daily/us/in/west-lafayette/KLAF/date/1998-1-15
Yes, the police introduced the theory. Fred speaks to this during his interview with u/Guerrilla_Ontologist on her podcast. I was in the same room as Fred when LE pushed the suicide theory after initially saying “she’ll show up in a day or two.” Fred’s interview with Erinn is here: https://podcasts.google.com/feed/aHR0cHM6Ly9hdWRpb2Jvb20uY29tL2NoYW5uZWxzLzQ5MjQwMjUucnNz/episode/dGFnOmF1ZGlvYm9vbS5jb20sMjAxNy0xMi0yMjovcG9zdHMvNjU2NTY2Nw
Erinn mentioned in episode 2 of the podcast at 31:14 that the accident forms were available at the DMV. Now depending on which one she went to is another factor in the one hour time discrepancy. There was a facility off of route 91 in Greenfield, and one farther west of in North Hampton. The one in North Hampton seemed too far out of the way. However, the one in Greenfield was accessible in the route she was traveling. It might explain another aspect of the missing one hour but it should be noted that it wasn't a busy establishment.
Granted, the process of acquiring the documents wasn't only through the DMV, but online as well. I don't have the exact page but I know Erinn told me in an email, that she found an archived page of the printable forms. Even if Maura didn't have a printer, it's possible she could have printed them through the library or found an outlet that gave her access. Either way, Maura had a few options in obtaining those documents.
The Hadley Police Department claim wasn't substantiated because they had cameras on site and no footage ever surfaced.
I believe the low temperatures the evening and following morning of the accident were a bit warmer, just above freezing and remaining so all night. I see the Plymouth NH weather station often cited as a source for weather that night, but records there don't begin until 2005. Weather records from 2004 do exist for Whitefield, New Hampshire, 24 miles from the crash site at a similar elevation, and Johnsbury, Vermont, 20 miles from the crash site.
Zip code 03785, not sure but I think that’s right, shows a range of 30 to minus 7. Each weather site seems to show varying temps. Maybe these sites aren’t accurate or location isn’t precise enough?
Here are the February 9, 2004 hourly temperatures for a close-enough location, showing there was a dramatic warming trend the day Maura disappeared. Temperatures likely remained above freezing the entire night. There was no precipitation. The moon rose at 9 PM and was 90 percent full, which means one could easily walk by its light, especially with snow on the ground.
Torrents to the rescue. It's not well seeded, but you could probably pull down a full set eventually given some patience. qBitTorrent is a decent client, and VLC is a good viewer.
South to North. UMass to Haverhill going back roads all the way to avoid highways at 3 hours and 15 min. https://www.mapquest.com/directions/list/1/us/massachusetts/umass-amherst-354522056/to/us/nh/haverhill?toll=1&highways=1
>I just did a MapQuest search and it sent me the Route 302 way.
Really? I just tried on Mapquest myself and did not get 302. It gave a different route, but 25 then 112, still no 302 when going from UMass Amherst to Conway.
Yes, they had a count on the wine coolers and the boxed wine was open. There is a documentary that showcased this detail. The Disappearance of Maura Murray
Reminds me of this case: https://www.amazon.com/Stalemate-Shocking-Story-Abduction-Murder/dp/0553762044
TLDR: there’s a series of murders where the main suspect “helped” try to find the bodies and the killer, but he also acted oddly and his “help” seemed pretty unhelpful... but there was never much evidence connecting him in the first place
I think this Aiwa model or some variation is the stereo in the other picture: the thing on the heater does look like the remote for this stereo.

Since I just put out a warning about clicking links, I want to let people know if they're nervous about visiting your site as far as their IP is concerned then they can view it through a proxy by using a site like https://www.proxysite.com or by downloading an App like SurfEasy VPN.
Seconded. Please post the link!
IP addresses are easily masked with a proxy. And someone using a Tor browser or an app like Hide My IP could tweak the IP settings a bit+ wouldn't have a problem, either.
