You can get a Pentel Orenz Nero in 0.3mm on Amazon for under $32. It is not ideal for drawing, but if you write with a pencil you need this one.
There's a popular post, but this is the link: https://amazon.com/gp/product/B01LXDFUPO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 The price increased to $15 yesterday, but it had been available for $10 before that. I ordered one and am going to keep an eye out in case it drops back down. (I was literally 10 minutes late for the $10 price.)
The Pentel Sharp (P205) is a decent pencil and a 12 pack is 27.37 on Amazon
If you want REAL thin, you can try the Tombow Zoom 707 pencil (LINK). Typically you can get them for close to $20 on Amazon, sometimes cheaper on eBay.
normal lead is usually grey and it has nothing to do with the mechanical pencil you are using. You need to buy black colored lead if you want a deep black. I found this on Amazon in about 5 seconds
I bought them off Amazon, these are where I bought them from.
Uni Kuru Toga Advance 0.5mm Black
and the
Tombrow MONO Zero Pen-Style Eraser (this came with two sizes. a 2.5x5mm one and 2.3mm one).
E: JetPens has the pencil for cheaper, not sure if they sell the eraser as I was checking the weight of the pencil.
Actually, your initial answer was correct, carpenters wouldn’t use mechanical pencils, the additional fragility makes it way too impractical, they would stick with wood. I’ve seen these pencils a lot and, in fact, I personally own a few for scantron tests. You’ll be hard-pressed to find HB leads for these because most of these are made for the Asian market where they use 2B for scantrons thus most of these flat leads are sold in 2B. In really surprised more people on this sub don’t know about these.
Edit: I even found these on Amazon that are specifically advertiser for the purpose, I hope this evidence is definitive enough for people here.
More expensive than this offer on Amazon and you gotta wait who knows how long. Shipping can make or break a Massdrop deal, too.
https://www.amazon.com/rOtring-0-5mm-Mechanical-Pencil-502505N/dp/B00C1YNBQS
Massdrop is only good for really weird stuff, like mechanical keyboards and caps that require a group buy because they rarely get produced.
Recently purchased the Amazon Basics pencil after it being out of stock for a few months to see what it's like since I haven't seen or read much about it. What interested me about the pencil was the full metal body and the double knock clutch. The knurling on it is very fine with almost a smooth texture when griping it. My fingers don't slip as I don't write with much pressure so your mileage might vary. The double knock clutch is great and the tip is very sturdy with no noticeable wobble when writing. When pocket carrying the pencil, it is very hard to accidentally engage the pencil. The full metal body gives it some nice heft weighing in at 25g similar to the Rotring 600 and a center of balance 1cm above the blue ring. The internals are alright and only time will tell how well it does. The mechanism itself is brass and has a plastic lead reservoir. Overall it seems like a good pencil at under $9 and only thing that would make it better for me is if it were available in 0.9.
It's an Alumicolor small scale: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000KNP548/ref=psdc_1085710_t3_B000KNKZ3Y
I got mine back in 2014, there are many colors now. Purple,Green, Gold,Red, Black etc.
I use a couple of these.

Try some athletic tape instead, available in sport stores, drug stores and Amazon, ex:

Rotring 800 or a Pentel Graphgear 1000 seem to be really rugged in my experience. The rOtring will be less likely to malfunction though.
Amazon link I found: https://www.amazon.com/rOtring-Retractable-Mechanical-Pencil-Silver/dp/B00JEV9TLC
fitcurve is $4.37 on amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Kokuyo-FitCurve-Mechanical-Pencil-Blue/dp/B000I3Y0EG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1531352731&sr=8-1&keywords=kokuyo+fitcurve
and it's designed to help with hand fatigue. i used to like the elite as well, until i decided to nab one of these bad boys.
also, its eraser erases much better.

Maybe try something no frills like the paper mate sharpwriter. It doesn't have any 'features'to annoy you, expensive lead to buy, and it's much cheaper than the graph 1000. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000NRT58I/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_OVtbGbBQJTG3B
Has anyone noticed that there are 4 limited edition Pentel Smash mechanical pencils on Amazon US right now? I just stumbled upon these and for limited editions the price is very reasonable. I haven’t seen these before, but bought the black and orange one. I’m tempted to grab the Violet one too. 😬😄

Heads up, there's a 3-pack of bundle of the Kuru-Toga Advance on Amazon! Here's the link. Unfortunately, that's $36 for the bundle, which seems really pricey.
Someone posted this on r/pencils, thought I would share it
EDIT: Thought I'd say that it's not one but five (0.3, 0.4, 0.5, 0.7, 0.9) GraphGear 1000's for $35. That's $7 per pencil
EDIT 2: GraphGear 1000's are $9 on Amazon with Prime
I haven’t seen any for mechanical pencils, and it probably is because they would break easily or you’d have to dispense more lead for every letter you write. However, there are 6B and 8B 2mm leads Amazon Link.
Everyone knows the go-to. Here is an Amazon link. Also, go on Jetpens and look at the pencil cases.

the entire rotring line is on sale on all of amazon includint europe so that's nice few examples
heres an amazon listing for it in blue
the one in your pic for 22
I got it from Amazon for about $10. It's a legit version. Doesn't come in package just by itself in a plastic sleeve.
Here is an Amazon link to a very similar ruler, they make them is many colors and scales.
Alumicolor Pocket Architect Scale, 6", Black (3010-9) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000KNP55C/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_Oqy0Cb0QT1AAQ
Amazon has them as well.
For writing and taking notes I enjoy the kuru toga ones because of the grip and weight. For math and engineering classes I like switching between the graphgear and rotring. I wouldn't recommend the rotring for long periods of writing as it is quite heavy. This is the pencil case I use!
I have one like that (or at least one very similar to it) that I got from hobby lobby a few years ago. If you search 24 or 48 pencil case you can find a few that are pretty similar I am pretty sure this is the one I have
Just curious, does that happen to be a screenshot of a Jazza video? That design in the corner looks really familiar
Edit: I just noticed the tag, I'm pretty sure that one specifically is the global art version link
if you mean rotring 600, you will need a separate pouch or a case for it. i wouldn't trust any third party cap solution in that kind of environment.
something like this would do it.
https://www.amazon.com/Pencil-Holder-Executive-Fountain-Stylus/dp/B01FZ9Q5WW/
According to CamelCamelCamel, this is the lowest price the Violet Smash has ever been. Other colors are decent deals, though Orange and Red have been cheaper.
The standard black Smash is also $8.88 USD.
Should probably mention this only applies to the 0.5mm versions. Sorry 0.3mm gang. :/
u/dochoff please add a "Sale" or "Availability" flair for sales in the future.
For selective erasing, you could also get an eraser shield - I got one when I was learning how to draft. It basically covers up the stuff you don't want to erase.

Yeah I was pretty happy to find that. https://www.amazon.com/Mechanical-Pencil-Standard-Model-M7450C1P-15/dp/B00PDTQISQ
I like to use 0.3 when I'm working with drafting/schematic "stencils", but I couldn't imagine writing with one all the time. Those tiny leads break just from looking at them wrong, lol.
I got it on Amazon it’s on sale rn too Limited-time deal: rOtring 600 Mechanical Pencil | HB 0.5 mm | Red All-Metal Body | Hexagonal Barrel https://www.amazon.com/dp/B085T24VZT/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_GEBAE9A21BQF1547ZJST?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
This looks like a pencil I found on amazon and was actually wondering if it was worth it. https://www.amazon.com/Mechanical-Pencils-Jimmidda-Writing-Sketching/dp/B07V6BMCFQ/ref=pd_rhf_se_s_sspa_dk_rhf_search_pt_sub_0_6/146-3705932-3399246?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B07V6BMCFQ&pd_rd_r=18ed02d8-b3f3-40f3-8cc5-53d921dc1c2e&pd_rd_w=yO76N&pd_rd_wg=saSBJ&pf_rd_p=43fcab85-1376-4307-ada1-0576b19ad47e&pf_rd_r=4YC8XSY910KZSNWKDW2V&refRID=4YC8XSY910KZSNWKDW2V&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUExNzRROEEwOTZDVEU3JmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwNDU3NjYyMkxUR0hWWjE0MlNLWiZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwNzE4MzU1M0RYSVFXRDVZRlJJRyZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX3JoZl9zZWFyY2gmYWN0aW9uPWNsaWNrUmVkaXJlY3QmZG9Ob3RMb2dDbGljaz10cnVl&th=1
What do you think of the pencil? I might take a chance on it and maybe put p200 internals as suggested before.
Pretty nice case but I feel like it could've either been smaller or they could've used the free space better with more sleeves/ straps. Overall I'd recommend!
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01FWE0DQY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_7fjdGbY9S7TJY
I can write so lightly I'm able to dip a sewing needle in ink and actually write with it. So pressure isn't an issue for me.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001A1PORW/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=AGHX2O821KIC4&psc=1 This is the one I want to go with. My only issue is that the lead is expensive. Would other lead from other bands work for this pencil?
Also what type of lead would be the least smudy/ not dark? I don't know anything about mechanical pencils. I'm a fountain pen user.
jetpens doesn't have the best prices so check amazon to see if they have it first. For example the rotring pro is cheaper https://www.amazon.com/rOtring-Rapid-Mechanical-Pencil-Matte/dp/B0055ZS57U/ref=sxts_sxwds-bia-wc-nc-drs2_0?cv_ct_cx=rotring+pro&dchild=1&keywords=rotring+pro&pd_rd_i=B0055ZS57U&pd_rd_r=cb60e36b-b420-48f1-9e0c-3bd391586c78&pd_rd...
Also I would hold off on rotring products until black friday because last year there was a 10 off 25 coupon on amazon for them.
Costs about $20?
I got mine through Amazon, from a Japanese Import Company. And it even came with a cute handwritten note from the importer. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001L1QV96/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It's genuine. And it's as great as they say it is. Haven't used anything else since I ordered it...
HTH.
Maybe the rOtring 500? There really isn't anything special about it, but it looks really nice and it's one of the best grips I've ever used.
rOtring link: http://www.rotring.com/en/mechanical-pencils/288-rotring-500-mechanical-pencil-3501178523058.html
If you want to keep the color black but still want to continue using Pentel, there is the Graph for Pro 1000 or the Pentel Smash, which are just under $10.
I'm new to pencils (here from fountain pens). It looks like Amazon has the black one for 46 and silver (one left) for 60.
Black. https://www.amazon.com/Rotring-Holder-Clutch-Knock-System/dp/B001L1QV96
Silver https://www.amazon.com/Rotring-Holder-Clutch-Knock-System/dp/B001L1QV9Q

Are you sure? The 884 "Infinite Resin" has a different shape and is, indeed, plastic, and sells for less than $10 on Amazon. This looks like a white-painted aluminum 844 ...
I did find this, though:
https://www.amazon.com/Caran-Dache-Infinite-Mechanical-Pencil/dp/B000WFZ7SS/
It still looks like an 844 in the image, sells for just under $20, but is shown as an 884.001 down in the technical details. We'll see what I get when it arrives. <G>
If that's the case then I'll have to pick some up especially for the price amazon
For pocket carry or dropping, the Pentel GraphGear 1000 0.7mm (blue accent) is a fantastic pencil. The entire lead sleeve retracts into the body so it won't stratch your pocket or your binder if its bouncing around. Right now amazon has it on sale for $8.70 with prime. Also the pocket clip is fixed when the lead sleeve is out so you're not going to be constantly having the pocket clip dig into your hand while using it. Very nice grip, its metal with soft rubber pads. Lead hardness indicator on the front and the weight/ balance is quite nice. Not too heavy but it feels pretty very sturdy and solid. Along with the pencil being balanced towards the center, it makes a very good choice.

These look interesting, though they cost more than the pencil they’re meant to protect. But I think it’s a good concept, especially if you can make them or something similar yourself

I’m sorry for your loss! I get called a jerk because I too have learned that lesson and now I refuse to loan writing implements. If you don’t have any luck finding that one, I recently found a TUL pencil on amazon that is a plastic body with rubberized finish. Not sure it is what you are looking for, but it feels good to me at least.
TUL 0.5mm Mechanical Pencils (1 2-pack), Eraser Refills (1 3-pack) & 30 Lead Refills Value Pack https://www.amazon.com/dp/B015ACWVEU/
Maybe you're looking for clic-erasers? Jk I have found a white refill on Amazon but it seems like it's for sewing use. Here is the lead refill
There's currently a $10 coupon for the 0.5mm 800 on Amazon that is applied during checkout. This brings it pretty close to the 600's price.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00AZWNS84/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_RTeNEbV9W2QK9
Ordered this one about a year ago. I keep a few pens and pencils in there.

"Moore"—? Never heard of Moore pencils. Gonna have to do some eBay research on that one.
The Swanberg drew some commentary earlier. They're fairly scarce on eBay. Or lately anyhow.
Conklin clips too fragile. They're all in the elephant graveyard.
Do you have that lunatic's book about Autopoints? That guy is mental. And I feel like I look at that book every day.
One of my all time favorites is the Zebra tect 2way. I admittedly first bought it bc of it looks, but was very happily surprised with everything about this pencil. The grip feels so nice in the hand. It has a bit of weight in the front section. It’s an awesome writer and did I mention its a great looking pencil? Very happy with it.
This one has a very similar shape minus the star on the end
Also the 600 for $15 to $20 depending on color and size.
I found a 600 for $15 here. Idk where to post the link.
I was wondering that too... I think this is it, https://www.amazon.com/LIHIT-Compact-Pencil-Repellent-A7687-11/dp/B01BD0GPKE
NicPro pencils on amazon are basically what your looking for. Their basically a rotring knock off, however much cheaper and lighter. Mind you it could never replace the feel of a rotring, however, for a middle schooler, I think this should be fine.
It does indeed look like one of these stands, but this one has a metal arm: https://www.amazon.com/OBITSU-Assembly-Action-Figure-Transparent/dp/B00UUTBFGY?pd\_rd\_w=JH31Q&content-id=amzn1.sym.116f529c-aa4d-4763-b2b6-4d614ec7dc00&pf\_rd\_p=116f529c-aa4d-4763-b2b6-4d614ec7dc00&pf\_rd\_r=W8S2KXYQF12H8SN410EJ&...
The prices occasionally fluctuate on Amazon. The 0.5 blue 600 I got last week was ~19$ it looks like the price bumped up a few dollars to 23$. Still a little bit better than full price.Right now it looks like the only rotring 600 on sale is the silver barrel 0.7
Here’s one that is thick or thin and waterproof pencil case
I have these and do a great job storing my pencils. They're called 48-slot fountain pen cases, available on Amazon.
I bought mine about 5 years ago at the time when they were new. Here is the link to it.

I'm looking for replacement erasers for my Rotring 800 pencil. Amazon stock refills for the Rotring 600, but I can't see anything in stock for the 800. Is this product compatible? What product should I use to replace a worn-out eraser?
I have two of these. One for home and one for the office. They are small, cheap and create a nice sharp, deep point. Plus there's no mess!
Thanks for taking the time to read all that lol I know it was a lot. This is just the result of a quick Amazon search, but this one looks a lot like the one I had but mine wasn’t leather. This one looks a lot closer to what I had actually. If you’re worried too much about bent tips like with the rotring 600 then you may want to go with the leather option or even find some kind of small pocket protecter type plastic things to drop down in there. Really any small plastic cylinder would do to drop down in there and protect the tips. But I never ran into any issues like that anyways. I would just say don’t go tossing the pouch around and don’t carelessly put in your bag amongst heavy books and such. Make sure it has its own small pocket or area of your bag where it’s not going to be getting pushed willy nilly as you move your bag and it should work just fine.
do you like your graft gear 1000 pencil considering buying
these are both advance. i found the white one on amazon.
Other than the lead tube, the Staedtler 925 25 is all metal and under $12.
pentel p200. it is actually a $4-$5 pencil in most countries, i don't know why they are so expensive in india.
https://www.amazon.in/Pentel-Sharp-Mechanical-Pencil-Barrel/dp/B002HN26F0
Two parted:
Thanks!
Yep, still being made and even sold on Amazon (LINK). I wonder if they're still pretty much the same internal-wise since first made.
Graphgear 1000? I was thinking of getting one of the sets(4 pencils and lead in .3 .5 .7 .9) for my niece who is getting really good at drawing, are they good for a beginner to intermediate?
Come to P200 Master Race Family.
Join us (me, Darth Maul and Darth Vader squad).
I'll follow that up with a good recommendation to start: a MUJI fountain pen. Really slim and similar feeling to a pencil, and more importantly, cheap for fountain pens (which can get ludicrously expensive).
I have found this faber castell eraser to erase so smooth and clean, leaving no smudges and very little if any eraser shavings, it is really nice! I use the blue one and the dark green one.
here is the link for the blue one https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01G8WJLPS?psc=1&ref=ppx\_yo2ov\_dt\_b\_product\_details
Nothing significant, but they do have color coded caps: https://www.amazon.co.jp/-/en/Mitsubishi-Uni-Holder-Mechanical-Pencil/dp/B001MTAAXA?th=1
Quite a bit cheaper too since I do a lot of shopping on amazon Japan and can just add them to an order.
not op, but it looks like This
It's only the 0.5mm one (which is good for me but not necessarily for others).
To Amazon, it's just one of their tens of millions of products thats meets some criteria in an algorithm that determines if a products can be subscribed to. In other words, you don't want to apply any common sense or logic to why you can subscribe to it.
I'm sure if you went looking you'd find products that make even less sense to get on a regular interval.
For example a $1500 countertop deep fryer.
https://www.amazon.com/Adcraft-Countertop-Double-Fryer-Faucet/dp/B0016HSPIK
Is the Pro Use I discontinued or is that a special edition? They're on Amazon for $13 USD.
I have one and imo the Pro Use II is leagues better.
Gladly! I saw some people on here using this case, and if the more large scale mechanophiles here using it well it was far better than I could even need. (It is :) ) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00WGGXBUC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
My first rotring death. I've had the tip ben d slightly before, but I was always able to bend it back. This happened when I accidentally dropped my pen casein a parking lot without noticing. I came back later to find the case with a tire track imprint on it. Surprisingly, besides the rotring, the only other thing that broke in the case was my neox lead container and a platinum preppy, both shattered into hundreds of shards.
Everything else was perfectly fine including 3 other rotrings! Just had to bend back the clips a little bit to fix.
I got i off amazon canada. Its pretty big, i carry my calculator inside of it as well as the leads, post its, and a ruler. Heres the link.
I have the 6 drawer version of this. I don’t love the color, I think I’ll end up painting it something darker, but I’m happy with it otherwise.
