Yea, it's helpful because most of us don't use Apple so you isolate the majority of the audience :)
For this podcast you can find the direct link in the source by clicking the 'episode website button'. They use a web player, which is cool because that is device agnostic as well, so you could link directly to that or link to the RSS they provide in the 'share' button.
The RSS link can be used by almost any podcast player without extra steps, that's why it's courteous to provide that instead of a vendor-locked source.

Sounds pretty normal, really. If you don't continue to use information, you're gonna lose it. Supposedly even professionals only retain their wide knowledge base by continued reinforcement.

Use a Spaced Repetition System such as Anki.
