You can open Pro Tab files with tuxguitar which is free. Here are a few others: http://www.songsterr.com/a/wsa/children-of-bodom-scream-for-silence-tab-s382790t2

I suppose the boring answer is: practice. Boring, but very true. It helps so much that it's easy to forget that you were previously unable to do whatever you've learned.
When trying to figure stuff out by ear, though, slowing it down is usually tremendously helpful. The sound quality is degraded by this, though, and at some point, slowing it point more just makes it more difficult due to the muddiness. Still, 75% is easily achievable, and 50% often sounds quite acceptable, depending on the software.
I've seen Transcribe! recommended here and there, but IMO it's rather expensive, at $39.
I use Reaper, but that's a full DAW (digital audio workstation), where slowing stuff down is just a minor function. Price-wise, you get a lot more for your money, at $60 for the non-commercial license. The free trial is unlimited (or limited by morals only), but they call it a 60-day trial.
I'm sure there are free alternatives, but I'm not really sure about which ones there are.
Come to think of it, I suppose there's one common trick to transcribing in general: start by finding the root note of chords (including power chords), and once you know that, figure out what kind of chord it is (power chord, minor, major, etc.).
Another thing I do when the goal is to transcribe something (especially when I actually tab a full song, rather than just try to learn as small portion) is to load it up in Reaper, and set the metronome and grid up for the entire song (including tempo/time signature changes). That way, you can loop bars or beats to figure out stuff more easily, plus the grid can be very helpful to figure out note lengths and timings.
This is extremely helpful for fast solos and such; looping 4-6 notes at a time at say 50% speed makes it easy to figure those few notes out, before moving on to the next set.
Of course, HERE it is. I've added somewhat of a continuance with some chromatic stuff, but I don't really love it so I won't likely keep it. I'm just struggling to continue.
Kill switch is a pretty easy wiring install even for someone with no soldering experience. Where to put it is a different issue though lol. You can get a special pot called a kill pot that you can swap your volume or tone pot out for that turns it in to a kill switch, aswell as normal function

There's a bunch of pretty nice 7s on reverb in the UK at the minute if you're ok to go used
All these LIBTARDS bout to catch these hands in the pit!
Also check this out it will change the way you solo for good
You boys need to learn the absolute magic of the dunlop tortex FLOW picks. These bad boys are like big, flat, jazz iii's and I went from an absolute jazz iii fanatic to loving these things, seriously, check them out. My personal favorite is the tortex FLOW 0.88 mm. Just a bit of give, and tortex is the best.

Also, Misha Mansoor of Periphery has a signature FLOW pick.

Looks like 不死斬り. Seems like a made-up word meaning "Immortal Decapitation" or something like that. Very ブルータル. You should look into the Kodansha Kanji Learner's Course. Anyone who tells you it's not the best book for memorising kanji either hasn't heard of it or is a liar.
The Katana is a great amp, but I wouldn’t bother with a Proco Rat unless you’re going for a more old school Obituary type sound. If you only want a distortion pedal so you can toggle distortion on and off without touching the amp, you can just get a footswitch for the amp. Boss sells one of their own, but it’s pretty expensive so I’d just go with this $20 Hosa one. The ESP LTD 256 also seems like a pretty nice guitar, but in my experience at that price you’d be better off with a Schecter. They have great playability and durability even on their cheapest guitars, and that’s easily the most important thing for a beginner.
Think you're looking for a saddle block on an Ibanez Edge Zero tremelo. You may want to double check compatibility, but I believe you need one of these:
I use Fender heavys and switched to the textured wavelength and they massively helped, although it takes a few days to adjust your grip
Micing a spider is weird, I've tried to do it before but it just doesn't sound right no matter what I did. I would highly recommend getting a guitar amp VST like these. They go on sale fairly often. If you're on a strict budget I'd wait until we get closeer to black friday when they're almost guaranteed to have a sale and scoop one up. Then all you need is an interface like this one and you'll be set. Even if you have no idea how to dial in a guitar amp VST and just set the knobs randomly the tone will be better than micing up a Spider amp.
I'm not sure about the pricing, I got the bugera head on eBay "like new" for $240. Warranty is a good idea because some of these amps have been known to have issues. Still the tone is pretty good for the price. About the pedals I'll post pictures tomorrow on my Instagram I'll send you a link when I do. I run my bugera head through a 4X12 behringer cab with celestion v30 speakers, and I can't get past 2 on volume without getting way too loud for being in a bedroom. This is the volume box I spoke about earlier

I use 10-52's for Drop C#, so just a half stop down the rest of the strings.
If you're tuning do D Standard, check these out. I'm ordering a few pair this week to try out for Drop B.
Is this one it? I saw a green one similar but it looks like it's been discontinued.
You an /u/Lucca_dehookah seem to really like your looper. Maybe that's something I look in to. The thought never crossed my mind before.
Have any compressor recommendations? I'm contemplation this Joyo one but due to the shittiness of my Behringer Noise Suppressor and my Monoprice tuner(it's just a tuner and the fucking thing sucks) I'm thinking I should shy away from cheap shit.
