I highly recommend "Aliens: Bug Hunt", an anthology of stories based in the Aliens universe, but not all of them about the classic big black xenomorph. Filled with great ideas.

Holy shit, I love that idea. I was looking at these too, have my guys draw on them, or on paper, and tape them on. Your idea would be great with these. Would work well as kind of a moderate "fog of war".
Very cool, and I just discovered Mothership a few hours ago and am very stoked about the possibilities. You could also add a "size" variable, in that I have seen some more recent tools that are axe/bat sized (large) and have a few functions, small camper axe/soldier shovel sized that add some wrench functions and maybe some tools bits you can store in the handle (screwdriver bits, magnesium rod for fire starting, etc.), all the way down to Gerber microtools. Something like the Trucker's Friend (linked) is, imho, a better improvised weapon (and has fewer "extra" functions) than the "regular" leatherman waves, etc. Trucker's Friend: https://www.amazon.com/Off-Grid-Tools-Truckers-Friend/dp/B005HAT9SM
Hello everyone, this is the artist.
Some time ago I came across this wonderfully nerdy gimmick called cool-retro-term (CRT, kudos Swordfish90) [1] and immediately felt strong Aliens / Event Horizon vibes. After playing around for a while, I came up with a little vacation project the result of which you see above. I thought some people here might appreciate it.
I hope you like it, CU!
I'm doing the same thing (Halloween one-shot) and I'm using this Soundpad. Especially cool if you're doing an online game - you broadcast the signal to your players and then they hear what you click.
You can also do a Custom Soundpad assembled from the various ones on the site.
I've used minis and a grid successfully. Usually assume the 1 square = 2 meters and it works fairly well. These two mixed miniature packs are decent starting for a lot of miniatures on the cheap.
