The one I use is the Hario Ceramic mill. They are relatively cheap, rugged and simple burr grinders. The grind looks pretty even to me. My wife tells me I still make alot of noise so I grind outside if I am making a cup early in the morning.
I’ve been using this one from Amazon for the past few months and I think it’s great! ERAVSOW Coffee Scale with Timer, Digital Hand Drip Coffee Scales,Stainless Steel Kitchen Food Weight Scale with Precision Sensors LCD Display & Hanger Hole 6.6lb/3kg (Batteries Include)
It’s only like $14, it’s got a built in timer, great surface area for whatever carafes you need to put on there, accurate to .1g increments, not super laggy, backlit screen. Idk why I haven’t seen more people use this one to be honest. Then again I’ve only had it for a few months so we’ll see how durable it is down the road. But it’s definitely getting the job done, didn’t see the need to spend $60 on the Hario scale
I don't buy them from Amazon just wanted to show the filters, not sure where you live but I get mine locally for really cheap in the US.
I’m a pretty particular guy (especially when it comes to equipment for coffee, gardening, guns and boats) and was recently shopping for a new kettle.
The Fellow Stagg EKG is regarded as the best kettle that is very available, but I wasn’t convinced that that was the right one for me. I ended up getting a Cosori kettle that I’m very pleased with. It has improved my coffee experience and it looks nice enough on the counter.
Both myself and my daughter each have the OXO variable temp gooseneck kettle for two years now and both of us have been very happy.
What about the Hario electric kettle? It seemed to outperform the competition--including the Fellow kettle--in Hoffman's kettle review video.
Seconding the Bonavita, and not just because I have one at home and one in the office. Fantastic little kettle.
Not sure where you're located - but I use a cheap food thermometer (people typically stick it in steak to check internal temp. A better keyword may be milk froth thermometer, an example i search up on amazon.com.au: milk froth thermometer
I think that'd work perfectly if it displays farenheit/celsius, just clips onto your kettle (mine's a hario bueno so it works with the lid open)
I usually boil the water, open the lid, stick it in and wait. At ambient temp of about 5-10deg celsius, it takes about 2-3mins to get to 90deg from 97~98deg boiling water.
You can boil the water with the thermometer in as well, so you don't have to wait for the water to cool down.
Definitely need a good grinder. I picked up a 1zpresso JX and it did wonders compared to the $25 Hario Mini I had before, and earthshatteringly better than the old blade grinder I used. Absolutely worth the $130 and not worth getting the JX Pro unless you intend on grinding and brewing your own espresso.
Biggest aspect of brewing to me is getting the grind right for the application. I have also as a relative newbie found V60 to be pretty picky / finicky but satisfying to dial in once you get everything right. I have an easier time dialing my Chemex in but use both equally now.

And the scale, just make sure you get something relatively quick and with 0.1 increments. I bought this cheap one and it does very well, especially noting the physical push buttons on a lower layer independent to the scale surface. Previously I had one that had capacitive/touch sensitive buttons that were on the face of the weighing surface. Looked cool, but it was near impossible to start/stop the timer sometimes especially if a drop of water hits the surface.
This is the one I've been using:

I would buy melitta dripper with filters . This dripper has different flavour profile and works with melitta filters. Where I live, I have to order V60 filters online, but melitta filters are available in most grocery stores.
Or I would buy caffe phin vietnamese brewer.
I bought this $24 model from Amazon and am happy with it. So long as I start the timer I've never seen it time out but I haven't left it more than 10 or 15 minutes so I can't swear that it never happens. (the weight will stop being displayed but will redisplay if you touch a button).
These things are great for getting ahold of boiling water on the go.
If you have to use a drip machine without looking like a weirdo (I would use the basket as a steep and release brewer lol) Please, run some water through it before brewing to preheat everything. Low brew temps are what make those things so terrible.
Maybe both preground and fresh with crappy grinder is the way to go? I don't know, I guess I this is why I joined the stainless steel burr hand grinder club lol. The 1zpresso Q2 is worth every penny if you can afford it.
These are the filters Hoffmann uses. Hario V60 Paper Coffee Filters Single Use Pour Over Cone Filters Size 02, White, 100 count https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001U7EOYA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_JB07HBXKGBBAJ5BRM2K6?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I broke one of my glass catch jars, and bought a set of 12 plastic jars on Amazon for $8.38. They fit quite nicely. No one’s calling them premium, but I’m definitely happy considering the price. Good solution for travel, or if you have butter fingers.
No need to buy 2nd hand, these things are cheap new!
V60 is great. You can get a single dripper for £6
Add a separate carafe for less than £30 https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07YQ6LY2S/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_EP07SDT15BBYYCC09FV0

I use a single dripper for myself most of the time, but also have the big ingle unit which is good for guests or bigger batches.

Thanks! They don't keep things super hot, but they are so pretty. I also love sipping from the wide opening. I found them on Amazon here.
I have been using between 1:15 and 1:17 and wow you are so right, huge difference!
Sweet Maria's is promoting this scale:
https://www.sweetmarias.com/digital-coffee-scale-with-timer.html
You can also find it on Amazon as well or at least a clone.
I went with the Greater Goods Scale and couldn't be happier with it.
Good luck!
It solves two problems for me. First, this carafe is a tall-boy. More like a wine carafe than meant for coffee. So have the v60 on the base up top felt precarious. This fits neatly in the top of this carafe. The Bodum I bought has a large hole meant for their mesh filter cone. Turns out, that mesh filter is almost EXACTLY the size of the glass V60. u/puith gave me the idea here (Fixing the Bodum Pour over). But basically I'm worried about putting glass on glass, so this allows me to brew v60 in the Bodum, thereby fixing the Bodum's terrible filter, without putting a glass v60 against the glass carafe.
This one won't shut off while the timer is running: Digital Coffee Scale with Timer, Digital Kitchen Scale Weight Grams and Ounces (2 Batteries Included) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B084X582JF/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_ZS8MK5QG0PBXX5VRHPWP?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
We have an electric kettle at home, but seems that might get too hot.
Boiling water is fine.
My thoughts on the gift package are below piggybacked on someone else, but I'm reposting this as it's a cheap package that presents well as a gift - https://www.amazon.com.au/Hario-Craft-Coffee-Clear-Black/dp/B07YQ6LY2S/ref=sr_1_6?dchild=1&keywords=v60%2Bbrew%2Bkit&qid=1634200348&sr=8-6&th=1
You can get the plastic V60-02, filters and range server for a steal in this pack: https://www.amazon.com.au/Hario-Craft-Coffee-Clear-Black/dp/B07YQ6LY2S/ref=sr_1_6?dchild=1&keywords=v60%2Bbrew%2Bkit&qid=1634200348&sr=8-6&th=1
makes for a great gift.

I'd go a Hario drip scale over a cheap kitchen scale as the timer is nice.
A gooseneck jug with existing kettle should suffice. Water off the boil is perfect.

This is it:
https://smile.amazon.com/Coffee-Premium-Ceramic-Dripper-Decanter/dp/B08FYRP6SK
The V60 is a size 01. I no longer use the V60 it came with, but I do still use the decanter it came with in my main setup.
This might actually be the best advice.
Plastic ones (which myself and many others actually recommend) are $10 on Amazon if you're in the US.
The 600ml version of the brewista is amazing!! Brewista BA6VKETLFB Artisan 600Ml Gooseneck Variable Kettle, Gunmetal Grey https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07D5W5PFQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_QKWENYDCQTH3RWS00MW3?psc=1
I've been looking at the COSORI Electric Gooseneck Kettle with 5 Variable Presets (LINK). Has probably the best/most reviews on Amazon (1135 @ 4.8/5), but I never seen it recommended around Reddit for some reason.
You can consider something like this. Relatively cheap and has different screen sizes.
Second the 1Zpresso JX for grinder upgrade! And since people have already mentioned heat retention, I’ll say a glass range server to go along with the plastic v60 is another step in the right direction. Instead of brewing directly into the mug, I fill up my mug with boiling water. Then you can brew into the server, and you have a hot mug to serve into. I use the 700mL one from Hario.
Additionally Hario makes a sort of combo of the 2 - a drip decanter. I don’t own this but looks pretty sweet (if you’re diving into the manual coffee rabbit hole) Hario V60 Drip Coffee Decanter, 700ml https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00755F9Z4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_EJF4SNT1X471HK0EECKS
If it doesn't bother you, then it's not a big deal but if you're just accepting it to avoid the waste of paper filters, check out a hemp filter. It's not a cheaper option as they do have to be replaced periodically but you will get better tasting coffee without the waste.
I’m using a souldhand kettle with my xiaomi induction heater at work. I turn it on level 2 and there’s no burning smell like some induction users have reported. I’m comfortable waiting at a level two heat level for it to get up to temp no rush when I’m doing pour overs anyways. Can’t comment using the soulhand on gas or electric stove tops though.
It's the Ozeri Kitchen Scale - https://www.amazon.com/Ozeri-Professional-Digital-Kitchen-Tempered/dp/B003MSZBSI I realize I didn't even show the scale all that well in the picture lol I was just so excited
Mine is lovely in the time that I’ve had it. As discussed on a previous thread it’s only draw back is it’s slightly messy when you pull out the little bin that contains the fresh grounds, but it makes perfect pours on the 15 setting (for my pours anyway)

u/PixelEDM i decided to order this kalita dripper
I just checked amazon.ca and found the exact same kettle that I got from Amazon in Europe (or at least it looks like it).
I am very happy with it, it cost far less than the known brands and brings your water to the desired temperature.

Triple Tree grinder on Amazon, $19.99. It has worked out great for me. It is the only one I have had so I do not have a lot to compare to. Well worth the money, I like things on the cheap.
