Took me a second to follow what you were saying but now I get it.
So the key rule / principle here is the fact that virtually all drill chucks can be removed and reinstalled.
This is because chucks are used in many machine tools, lathes, mills, etc. and not just on drills.
So, you can find directions online how to remove a drill chuck. Take the chuck all the way off per these instructions so you can check and make sure there's no damage.
Then reinstall the chuck again, and 9/10 times, nothing is wrong with it and you'll be back in business when you get it tightened again.

I use Milwaukee M12 tools and bought the M12 inflator. I love it. My mower and tractor are usually too far from a compressor and It’s portable. I just set it and hit inflate and wait for it to shutoff. They are really pricey right now but can be found in kits like this for cheap. Maybe look for something similar from Dewalt if you like the idea.

I bought this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09QZDB9B2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
item came out of the blue
I was certain another "tool only" but includes charger and battery and says 300 ft lbs so should be good for net 200+ ft lbs. I never trust the peak torque they say.
Just looking at this one in the link. Apparently they're a "chisel poison adjust" mode. Maybe you need to move the switch out of that mode to lock the output shaft?
Oh, corded because I am sick of running out of juice at the worst moment.
Yes I could buy several (suspiciously expensive) extra batteries but that didn't sit well with me. It felt manipulative and intended to manufacture a fake brand loyalty.
You have to earn that by making a great drill, not selling batteries that barely hold a charge eventually.
Also, corded have more power available. It's not often, but if I need to make a hole for a deadbolt I have the torque.
At the same time, I wanted the clutch so I don't continually strip screws.
In case anyone is in a similar spot, I went with a Bondage & Domination (B&D 🙂) corded drill with clutch.
