I haven't had the chance to try Screwfix's models before, but they look like generic Chinese units. I think one of our local hardware stores has them under a different name. There are really only a handful of manufacturers making generic machines in China (or there's a ton of them copying each other, that's just as likely). Those models are then rebranded with whatever popular brand works out a contract with them. When you've seen a lot of them, they're pretty recognizable.
I completely understand where you're coming from; my town has infamously hard water, too. Everything ends up covered in a white crust of minerals, and seizing if not outright clogged. Rather then settling for a piece of junk that you'll trash every year though, I'd recommend simply adding an in-line water filter. They're inexpensive and provide a lot of additional protection.
The Comet KL-1400 Extra does come with a basic mesh filter on a gasket, but if you want more peace of mind, I'd suggest one like these:
https://www.amazon.ca/SHURflo-255-313-Classic-Twist-Strainer/dp/B000V2W0GE/
https://www.amazon.ca/PowerFit-PF31089-Garden-Inlet-Filter/dp/B0171GKS1Q/
Hypro is a very well known manufacturer, but anything similar will do. I'd recommend a rating of about 50 to 100 mesh (approximately 150 to 300 microns).

I’m pretty sure this is 1450rpm, do you think this would work?
Your options look kinda like this:
1) drill out the flat disc piece on the frame and send a new bolt through the motor mount into the frame
2) if you don't need a portable unit, mount it straight to your trailer or truck bed
Either way, you msy need to get a new bushing to put between the motor and whatever you mount it to. I've got the same gx390. When I upgraded the pump from a 4gpm to a 5.5gpm it no longer fit on the frame so it is now mounted straight to my truck bed. These are probably what are on it right now and the bottom bolt sheared off.
Interesting, thanks! I failed to lock the nozzle once after buying mine used recently, and promptly shot out the nozzle. Hadn't occurred to me that I should have some spares (admittedly, just a homeowner, so being down for a day or something wouldn't kill me).
I'm sure these aren't great, but looks like I can get 20 of each size for $5: https://www.amazon.com/Twinkle-Star-Pressure-Connect-Coupler/dp/B07QBXY7T9/
I can't for the life of me find one of these little dohickies that's the right size to just screw into the hole on my surface washer. The one that came with it is soft brass that gets deformed by the ball bearings on the female coupler biting into it under pressure, which jams the connection together, and I'm trying to find a stainless steel one to replace it with.
These things all get sold in fractions-of-an-inch sizes or in strange mixtures of metric and imperial and I have to look up a conversion table and hope that 9.2mm is 3/8ths of an inch, and it's doing my head in trying to find something that's the right size, or even something that's the wrong size but that I can find an adapter for. I thought that 'sourcing map Hex Reducing Bushing, 3/8 PT Male to 1/2 PT Female Stainless Steel Pipe Fitting Reducer Adapter' from Amazon would be what I needed to make '1/4 Quick Release Connector 14mm Male Thread Stainless Steel Adapter for Garden Hose Tap Connector ' fit, but it was completely the wrong sizes. I don't know of any brick and mortar stores around here (Glasgow, Scotland) where I could go and ask a guy what part I need.
I'd love to hear some opinions on this as well. I bought a 50' piece of Uberflex but I'm not in love with it, I think I'm gonna try this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01LBRYR7C/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?smid=A3PHQFBD5QB6ML&psc=1
I started off with the gun and green nozzle tip to blow out the cracks, mostly working diagonally across the blocks since that gives me the best results and the least back-splatter, then used the surface cleaner, then a jet broom to blow the gunk away and leave a clean surface ready for sanding. The surface washer alone isn't very efficient at getting the moss and especially the grass out of the cracks; a lot of the stuff is too stubborn for it to shift.
I also brushed a kilo of salt into the surface after sanding, in an experiment to see if it might keep the moss away for longer and prevent it from starting an immediate comeback. We get a lot of rain here, so it won't last for long, but if it delays the moss for a month I'll be happy with that. The guy is a regular customer and I do his garden in general; pressure washing is something I've picked up for the off-season.

its 1/4 but I need the right threads to screw it in my pressure washer gun https://www.amazon.ca/EDOU-Pressure-includeing-Nozzles-Quick-Connect/dp/B083116BHP/ref=sr\_1\_1?crid=SLLAWPDG5BWB&keywords=edou&qid=1665939938&qu=eyJxc2MiOiIxLjk5IiwicXNhIjoiMS4zOCIsInFzcCI6IjAuOTIifQ%3D%3D&sprefix=edou%2Caps%2C156...
So after some hacksaw use, investigatory drilling, and prying I still was unable to remove the nylon bolt/pressure assembly for the unloader valve. I am sure I have destroyed the threads too. I am guessing over the last 6 years of abuse the nylon has slightly melted and molded to fuse to the chamber. I wish they would of used some other material (would of solved both our cases) but I understand putting a nylon bolt structure to prevent over torque on that protruding cast iron assembly during construction. 6 years wasn't awful for a $100 product.
I will be getting this to replace https://www.amazon.com/Sun-Joe-SPX4001-Electric-Technology/dp/B01NBV3LPV, currently $162 and resolves most of the design complaints I have... but probably still has a nylon unloader valve. I will not be using the built in soap device though. That soap inlet zerk fitting is right at the unloader valve and if not fully diluted or rinsed (which I never did) I am sure it gunked my unloader valve up and seized it over time. Just gonna get a foam cannon for the end of the pressure washer.
I am also a cyclist. I buy Chinese knock off cycling glasses of ebay or Amazon.
They come with five changeable lenses a case and the cord for around your neck. The last ones were like 21 bucks delivered.
You will be shocked how good they are. The yellow ones work great for washing houses especially huge white ones.
Not the best looking things but huge coverage and cheap if you scratch one lense throw another in.
I have used an injector that came with the pressure washer, this one from amazon, and this one from northern tool
Trust me pulling started a 400 cc anything much less a Machine with water in the pump will be for a grown ass man. When it kicks back will hurt like hell.
Get the electric start. If you have to run jumper wires off your trucks battery do it.

I also highly recommend a 3/8 ball valve. Makes it much easier to switch between wand and surface cleaner. Just gotta remember when you turn the valve off you pull the trigger to release the pressure on your attachment so the quick connect works right.
If you're working with a little electric power washer then get something small like this
You will undoubtedly upgrade your equipment if you're serious about your business. I ended up buying a 15" and 20" Twinkle Star surface cleaners for my machines. They are pretty cheap ($120-$180) and I've only had to replace 1 o-ring in 4 months of owning both of them. You don't need to drop hundreds or thousands of dollars to have a good set of equipment and parts. If you're on a budget, find a pressure washer used on FB Marketplace or Craigslist with a Honda engine in it; a GX390 engine is a good starter with plenty of power for even large jobs without breaking the bank. If you're mechanically-inclined then I would recommend this route to a) save you money b) it will help you familiarize yourself with pressure washing equipment

So I'll switch around the hose and use the quick connect side to connect to pump. Then I should take out the 3/8" male plug from the gun. And add the coupler there.
I'm not sure what size I need. You think this would work? -- https://www.amazon.com/Twinkle-Star-Pressure-Coupler-Fittings/dp/B071S139JB
Might be interchangeable with some other guns, but most big box store stuff like this isn't really fixable when it breaks. Same gun (or appears to be) here: https://www.amazon.com/Generac-0H9642A-Original-Equipment-Manufacturer/dp/B008G4K2SW I'd grab a Suttner gun, lance or two of whatever sizes you want, and an M22 to 3/8" quick connect and run a regular gun. More flow, easier pull, and can rebuild if there's an issue. I'm a pretty big fan of the ST2305 and ST2605 guns. We have some with just a quick connect for tight spaces, some with 12" lances, and a few that are 36", 48", and 60" for other jobs.
Hmmm yea I was trying to figure out that. The gun has a male nipple, and I used the female quick rotating connect there.

Oof. You can’t set an unloader by “feel”. You need a gauge. Seriously. You could be either losing flow rate or over pressuring and you’d have absolutely no idea. A gauge allows you to optimize your system and by definition, your cleaning efficiency.

Its meant for a 2 hp motor but if I tune down the psi a bit, I think it can work for 1.5 hp. But, does that ruin the pump or the motor if i were to buy this and tune down the psi?
I wish I could post a picture but I'm not sure how people do that?
Anyway....you need a three way valve. They cost about $20 on amazon. You insert the three way valve in your line from the soap tank and the injector. This leaves one more valve: Attach a 1/4 hose, about two feet long. This hose can be inserted into a water bottle. When you're down streaming, your soap valve is open and the water bottle line is closed. When you're done soaping you turn the valve to the soap off and open the one to the water bottle. You'll see the water being sucked in. This will get that SH out of your injector. SH is very corrosive to metal.

I'd start by spraying with an acid like 50/50 vinegar and water with a big squirt of dish soap. Let that sit for a while and don't let it dry out. Use a scrub brush or a stiff deck brush to scrub it.

That's the plan, to replace the pump once it goes bad. I was split between Honda and Briggs & Stratton since based on my research, they are the "best" two small engine manufacturers, and went with this one as I coincidentally saw it at my local Costco. A steal for $349, if you ask me!

Wow, so much helpful information in one post. I don’t know where to begin. Thank you for taking the time to share!
Deck and driveway are the lowest priority. They were kind of an afterthought to the brick house.
We have 2 problems with returning the pressure washer. #1: We don’t have a car. #2: She bought it from Amazon a couple years ago, so she’s well outside their return policy.
I wish we had the money to rent one, but she’s on disability and I’m fresh out of a women’s shelter without a job.
Since my main priority is the brick house, will the soap work as a pretreatment? I found it on Amazon. Here’s a link to it: Sun Joe SPX-HDC1G House and Deck All-Purpose Pressure Washer Rated Concentrated Cleaner, 1-Gallon https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073R4RQNS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_fabc_eKyZFbZ0BC9RW?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Pick something like that up, screw one side in to the water inlet on the pump, the other onto the garden hose. Never have to worry about unscrewing again.
No I bought an adapter that comes with a jubilee clip, here is the link, I push it as much as I can but when I turn the water on with the hose attached via Hozelock Hose End Connector it pops off

Sorry if i was unclear. Im definitely a newb. Im looking for a swivel that attaches between the gun and the hose so that the hose can rotate and prevent kinks. I know they exist i just cant seem to find what would work on this

I would recommend 200'ft of each. the feed hose in 25ft or 50ft sections.
Build your own machine - dewalts are overpriced garbage that will not last (pump wise, motors is ok because they come with hondas). Order a gx390 of amazon electric start. bolt on a 5gpm gear drive udor pump (literally 4 bolts). Get yourself a good unloader and hannay reels and you're in business.. All in all everything I just described won't be more than 3k - all things considered that is a very low cost for starting a business and having good professional equipment.
I have the 15" Simpson Cleaning 80165 for my machine which is also a 3000/2.4 and it works great. I have used it on my own home several times and a few neighbor's driveways. They are $60 on amazon here. Mine arrived dented (from Lowe's) but it works fine so I never bothered returning it.
I got this one to reach over my cars’ roofs better, but it might work for you?

Is it the 1/4" snap coupling you're trying to fit it into like in the pictures on this listing

?
Or do you have some sort of bayonet adaptor?
What would you think about this? Instead of buying another OEM pump, I purchase a RMV25G30-EZ
Its a plunger pump with a 5-year warranty. Cost: $110.
Any thoughts as to compatibility and whether this is still a bad idea? This is for occasional home use, not commercial. Open to other manufacturers if OEM is a turd pump.
I'm reading petroleum jelly will dry out o-ring if it's rubber (not sure what mine is, haven't looked)
I do have WD-40 or this silicone spray. I'm thinking maybe the silicone spray?
What about running a little 12V water pump?
You can use it to apply soap, then light brushing and use it to rinse.
Something like this comes as a package Electric Car Washer,EFORCAR High Pressure Car Washer Pump,12V 80W Electric Washer Pump Car Washer Device for Auto,Pet, Window,Watering and Camping https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B077NXT1X8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_ikoVCb128K7HX
i picked up a tub of oxiclean but im sure ill need more. i just couldnt find the ratio that people used. i was going to order something like this from amazon if i could - https://www.amazon.com/Sodium-Percarbonate-Oxidizer-Consits-Packs/dp/B00OKOFUZM/ref=sr_1_4_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1492086501&sr=8-4&keywords=sodium+percarbonate
its rough cut cedar, would the turbo be ok on that or just a regular fan tip?
Thanks again for the insight. I was worried about the priming.
Your advice is spot-on. I am going to run the on-demand pump straight to the rinse line, and run the pressure washer off the barrel which has been working well.
I noticed Shurflo also makes an accumulator tank: https://www.amazon.ca/Shurflo-182-200-Accumulator-Tank/dp/B000N9VF6Q/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1490032478&sr=8-4&keywords=shurflo
Would something like that help with the on-demand pump cycling?
When I run the pressure washer without a pressure tip it definitely gets air in the line, which to me signals not enough GPM from the barrel.
Would the accumulator tank keep things rolling smooth? I like the idea of the on-demand pump keeping the pressure washer fed, but not if it damages the pump like you mentioned. This tank might be a decent option - let me know what you think.
Thanks again for your help on this.
Thanks for the reply! That setup is actually super close to what we have in our shop.
Is that pump similar to this one? https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00C5T6OS6/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A3DWYIK6Y9EEQB&psc=1
I figure I can pop a regular outlet onto that one and not worry about the 12v situation.
My plan would be to run that pump off of the 55gal barrel, and then split that to the hose and to the pressure washer. What do you think?
Thanks again for the reply.

Could I run this off of the barrel and split the outlet with one going to a regular garden hose, and one to the pressure washer?
Seems like it would only turn on when the washer or hose needs it.
What do you think?
The one I use is different but I'll be using these in the future, they seem to be better quality, and the ones I use seem to read the RPM incorrectly (though it may be because it's a 2 cylinder).
I wouldn't worry about it, if the pump says an 8hp is fine, then it should be okay. I would let the engine run for an hour or two without the pump to let it break in.
yeah, i was kinda planning on using something like this.
