Thanks J-Nice!
That link was super helpful.
Somewhere around the middle of that thread it mentioned that there was a typo in the point list and they meant beat Yesufu, not Uhura. Looking over my point list, I see I don't have anything listed for beating Yesufu at Wrestling so that makes perfect sense.
Quote: "You have this in your list already. Someone just goofed between the points for practice with Uhura and beating Yesufu at the real thing."
In terms of the tell about the initiation bug, I wonder if that has been fixed. I see on this sourceforge page a bug reported explaining exactly which vector had the bug: https://sourceforge.net/p/scummvm/bugs/7086/. I wonder if that patch got applied to the Steam version of the game...
Thanks again.
It was actually my first QFG game. I got it as a gift and just couldn't beat it since i could not figure out how to get to the hydra island.
Then one fateful night i couldn't sleep and came across lets play with brigands on youtube and suddenly i remembered that one game i never finished. Thanks to gog.com i got to play and finally finish not only QFG5 but the entire series. Was it a bit dated? sure. Was it fun? yes :)
Part of what made it enjoyable and memorable to me was just how different it is from modern rpgs.
I would heavily vote against Quest for Infamy. It wasn't funny or particularly engaging. Actually it was a bit revolting, reminded me of QfG4½. Other than the ones you listed there's not much else quite like it. Have you checked AGS? Their repository of games is pretty big and you can find some gems if you look hard enough. It's been a while since I dug through it.
