I’m not sure what they are called exactly. There’s many different types! If you just do a quick search for “plant watering system” you’ll find tons!

Hers is what I use to dry plants any similar product will work just as well.
It changes colors when saturated
You can bake the silica gel at 225°f to dry after it is saturated.
I have leca at the bottom. When I water I use a spot watering thing (like this ) and push it down to the leca layer and just add a small layer of water below the moss. the water evaporates into the moss and keeps it nice and moist. I only have to refill it about once a month. I start a lot of my props this way. I’ll likely move this guy into a pot with drainage in the spring

This is the one I have although I probably would’ve opted for one that has one probe because I always feel bad poking the pot with two probes lol, but It works great, I was underwater things out of fear and it led to some stunned growth in some, but now I know.
It’s been really helpful on my big gold pothos that thing only wants a drink every 4 weeks! This this is between 1.5-2 weeks but leaves curling is definitely a sign
