Years ago when our mini was missing, we printed door hangers with her pic on it with 100.00 reward. And hung them on home doors in the neighborhood.
We got her back in a few hours.
Also a good place to look is, nextdoor.com. That website helped me find my giant schnauzer a few times when he broke out the back yard.
My pup was a rescue. She’s never really been in a kennel or carrier since we got her, but we noticed she liked to hang out under tables occasionally, so we got one of these things and set it up in an out of the way corner. Took her a bit to start going in, but once she got accustomed to her “cave” she loved going in for a nap or when she wanted to hide someplace.

I haven't gotten any kind of insurance for my dog yet, although I've been considering it. It looks like the Banfield thing only covers preventive care. Insurance does the opposite: it doesn't cover preventive care, but does cover injuries and illnesses. You're looking at apples and oranges, really. I personally prefer small private clinics to the big chain, but I can certainly see the appeal of paying a subscription fee for preventive care rather than the usual a la carte approach. That could definitely save you money, if you really use it. However, the pet insurance thing is a completely separate question. That's all about covering your financial ass in case your pet incurs some catastrophically huge veterinary care bill, because it broke a leg or ingested something dangerous or whatever. If anything, I would consider doing both Banfield and insurance.
Here are two interesting reads with regard to pet insurance:
Seattle Times series of four articles comparing insurance companies on a very in-depth basis.
We had the same issues at around the same age. What worked for us is switching to a corn and soy free food (we use Solid Gold Wee bit Bison), plus these probiotics: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B001O3UE9E/
Good luck!
I have this. It works pretty well for my growing 21.4 lb half schnau!
I feed my puppy Diamond Naturals small breed puppy food. It’s what the breeder recommended and she’s thriving on it.

We feed our 11 month old Victor Multi-Pro and she loves it. The breeder uses Victor High-Pro Plus (teal bag) but I noticed the fat content was much higher and switched a few months ago.

Our groomer recommended Zesty Paws Allergy Immune Supplement for Dogs. It has almost 55,000 reviews and seems to have helped our dog a lot. She also has a chicken allergy (more like anything with wings) and is on apoquel. These chewable pills seem to have tipped things in her favor. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071WCV19B/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1
May I ask what clippers you have? I groom my puppy and use these. Very quiet. Wahl Arco cordless I also use a rubber mat under his feet to keep him from sliding around. When I groom him, I take a serious tone, with a low reassuring voice. I also touch the clippers to him without clipping to get him used to the sensation, when he gets nervous and squirmy. My puppy will not submit either, but I can get the groom done. When I get his nails done, they have to use a soft muzzle. I don't have the confidence to do nails yet.
I'm very sorry to hear of your loss. We lost our beloved mini this past October.
we got this: https://www.chewy.com/kh-pet-products-orthopedic-bolster/dp/54608
look around here and you'll see pictures of schnauzers both using pillows as chinrests as well as sleeping with half their bodies off of the bed. my schnauzer's no different. this bed accommodates both well
Got these bad boys specifically
Ive posted about them before. They have their pros and cons but maybe they can help you find something you like! Best thing about them? No snowball's and they keep my dog dry. Ive used them for hiking during the fall too if it's muddy. Bad things? Takes a bit to get them on, and the feet pads are still exposed.
Yup works very well. I’ve used this one from wags & wiggles and this one from Burt’s bees. The first is scented so if you don’t like that I’d stay away from that one.
I have a dog car seat similar to this, and it works out great. Straps securely to the seat, then I usually have my pup clipped into the basket in her harness.

This is what we use for our mini. He’s a big fan of the softer brush
Nice! I hope you have better luck than us. I think we had that duck. We put it in the backseat during a long drive, thinking it would occupy our pup for a few hours. Nope! It lasted about 15 minutes. Haha.. She chewed the foot off and tried to swallow it.
We have tried every sort of toy. The best toys so far have been really fuzzy. She doesn’t seem to be able to quite sink her teeth in.. she can pull little bits of fuzz off with effort, but she can’t gut them.
Here are two toys she can’t murder:
And...
I almost didn’t buy the second one because it’s expensive, but my dog has had it since Christmas morning and it still looks as good as when she unwrapped it yesterday.
Sure! I got them off amazon. I would not recommend using them in the rain, the little bit of fur get wet and it starts to smell. Also, if your dog drags it’s feet, the vinyl peels easily so be aware of that:

It just may!! Enzo always looks like a million bucks after a bath, and he gets filthy. Definitely give it a try. It's only $10 on amazon! Here's the link:
I’m not sure! The backyard of the house we bought had a bunch of balls like this one. We love it because it’s easier for Riley to grab the ball with his little mouth.
I did find this that is similar! https://www.amazon.com/Chuckit-Medium-Durable-Breathe-Right/dp/B01MUMUW05
Both of ours had very rusty looking beards that no amount of shampooing removed. About a year ago we purchased a filtered water drinking bowl from Amazon for 30 bucks and have had mostly white beards since making the switch. You do need to change the filter every two weeks, or at least we do with the water in our area. We also use a product called Blueberry Facial for washing their faces.

From the first squeak while we were wrapping it he's been waiting for us to leave!

Yep, I had to get a shock collar for mine because she would wake up the entire neighborhood. Mine was too strong though and she would jump when it shocked her and it broke my heart, so I got her a spray collar instead that just sprayed annoying citronella and made her stop.
Both definitely made her learn pretty fast, and even just holding the collar up like I was going to put it on her would immediately make her stop barking. Only issues with the spray collar, was when she was barking at other dogs, she would spray them in the face too haha
Just to add the the good advice here, we found that a slow eating bowl worked quite well after advice from our Vet. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Simply-Pets-Online-Eco-friendly-Terracotta/dp/B00S3SPAQU
Also with the broth idea, remember that lots of broths have a high sodium count so we made our own big batch in the slow cooker and then froze it into ice-cube trays. So when we wanted a small amount of broth we placed the frozen cube in a jug and covered in boiling water . After a minute, fresh broth at a safe temperature to eat.
Hopefully just a phase though. Good luck.
I think you may be right about the associations. Fergus doesn't mind getting in the car cause I take him to work 2-3 times a week, to the park for long walks at least 3 times a week and doggy daycare on Friday. That way outweighs the Groomers & Vets visits and he loves those places.
Maybe some trips to the park and sweeten the deal with some treats on the ride over and she'll start to look at it more favorably.
I also bought him this car seat which lets him stand up on the window and look out the front. Sometimes dogs get antsy cause they know they are moving and can't see.
Ech I've tried putting her in little cotton socks for fun and she hates them! Rolls onto her back and tries to bite them all off!
Thanks for the reply though. I read somewhere here ( /dogtraining?) about http://www.amazon.com/Mushers-Secret-Pet-Paw-Protection/dp/B0002XIZXY I might try it out!
This happened with our mini schnauzer a few years back. Baby Aveeno body soap, and Baby Aveeno eczema lotion :http://www.amazon.com/Aveeno-Baby-Eczema-Therapy-Moisturizing/dp/B003BJZ1P6 Worked like a charm.
