Also, I don't have a book exactly to recommend, but I've read a book (that I cannot remember) on what exactly gunshots, knives, and weapons do.
Overall it was to prevent jarring inconsistencies like having someone play Russian Roulette with a Glock or having someone blow across the room while being shot with a bird rifle.
But... there are books at Amazon, that might give you ideas and you can just decide what you like. A search found this. I haven't read it, so I can't speak for it's usefulness. Depending on the realism you want, it may give you a idea of how much you want to stretch something. Good luck. :) The world needs more slasher films.

sadly I did not watch the other urban legend movies yet.
But I recently found something.
https://www.amazon.de/Teenage-Slasher-Movie-Revised-Expanded/dp/1620083078
It‘s the teenage slasher movie book, an revised and expanded version of the slasher movie book. the original slasher movie book costs like 85€, the revised one like 20€. you can take a look into the book in the link I gave you. go to introduction and you see the content of the book. there are a few differences in both books as far as I know but I doubt that it makes up for the 65€ difference. some people recommended the “italian giallo” genre to me which is also in the book I think (I ordered it yesterday so I don’t have it yet). giallo might be what you are searching for.
but what are giallo movies? this video is very good in explaining it.
some giallo movies are in amazon prime.
