Some sort of mesh bag that you can carry in a pocket when empty would be good.
Here's a Lobster/catch bag that would probably be overkill. Mesh bag with metal opening.
Regarding gloves, I go sailing with cheap mechanics work gloves. Those or gardening gloves would work for your needs.
Something like this. https://www.amazon.ca/Waterproof-Swimmers-Triathletes-Kayakers-Snorkelers/dp/B07T9DZMKV/ref=asc_df_B07T9DZMKV/?tag=googlemobshop-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=341830056166&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=3681280745473643257&hvpone=&hvp... If you like to dive down it will hinder you but if you ever find yourself in trouble you can always hold onto it and get a rest.
I use abubble cap with chinstrap for swimming and snorkelling. A triathlon cap might work.
Keeping your hair dry can be a problem and I find the normal swim caps either too tight or come off, hence preferring ones with a chinstrap, and, you can wear the bubble cap over the top so there's no possibility of things coming off.
My bad, didn't know if links to Amazon were allowed, I was talking about one like this.
Thanks for the feedback, though, those all sound like valid reasons to go for the conventional ones.
I have a Cressi mask, worked great when I bought them but now are leaking after years of use. I have mask cases but have never used them
The biggest issue you'll find is that the better snorkeling is on the west side of the island. Mountain View is great for accessing Volcano National Park and Hilo. And there are supposedly a few places to try on the east side, but those aren't considered the best locations. You could day trip and snorkel at Two step, which would be a two hour commute each way. Alternatively, you could spend a night in the Captain Cook area, which isn't as expensive as many locations on that coast.
I use a dry pouch that goes around my neck ( https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00LBK7OSY ). I have an underwater camera, never had much luck using a case for a phone.
Full face ones come with risk and some places have banned them due to folks passing out. I would make sure before you head anywhere that they allow them.
This one seems to be of a decent grade. https://www.amazon.com/WildHorn-Outfitters-Seaview-180°-Snorkel/dp/B07F23BXY3?ref_=ast_sto_dp&th=1&psc=1
I use this full face mask with integrated snorkle and love love love love love it. Probably the best $30 I ever spent. Talk about range of vision! No distortion, no fog, total comfort, not salty lips. I'm new to snorkeling and my experienced friend looked cross eyed at it, watched me use it, borrowed it "just to see" and bought her own the next day. There are others this style but the Body Glove version (available at Costco) sucks. https://smile.amazon.com/ZIPOUTE-Detachable-Snorkeling-Panoramic-Adjustable/dp/B085WSWNSL/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?crid=1LISOAS836WY1&keywords=snorkles%2Badults%2Bfull%2Bface&qid=1656380482&sprefix=snorkle%2Caps%2C261&sr=8-3&th=1&psc=1
Quick google of "personal belongings bag for snorkeling" has provided a bunch of options..
Even a groupon:

My only concerns are that the uv tinting will change the perception of colors underwater.
Thanks everyone!
I got mine on Amazon and I’m very happy with them. I can send you the links to review them.
EXP VISION Adult Pano 3 Panoramic View Scuba Diving Mask, Temper... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B086138CY7/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_api_glt_fabc_GW0QHVB76QTX0RRQHCS9?psc=1
I use Cressi Scuba Diving Snorkeling... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0067BGZBE. The downside if this, is that it creates a lot of fog. :/
Cressi Palau Short Fin with Snorkeling Gear Bag, TT-ML https://www.amazon.com/dp/B019QOHUX0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apip_cmaOOWFmQQP4I. These are good and I haven’t had any problems.
I also purchased a Spray that delays the fog in the glasses and also ear plugs.
I don’t really like these glasses much because I have to clean in a short period of time.
Its kind of personal. I got these fins to replace some old Jet fins. They fit best with 3mm booties. Mares Avanti Quattro Plus Open Heel Bungee Strap Fin https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00A6RCFJ6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_RMHJDY3Y3E4CXNNXP07N?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
These would also be an inexpensive travel option

Second vote for Cressi for masks; haven't tried their fins but are probably good quality as well. I've had US Diver's fins before, which were okay but am considering this one as travel fins for the ones that have worn out: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0833TDP65
My wife and I got these from Amazon. Worked perfect for me, she had trouble with it leaking water a tiny bit, but she had a lot of hair and probably just the shape of her head.

You can get shorter fins like these ( https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000EM0LY4 ) that don't take up a lot of luggage space, and will make your experience much more enjoyable. And they are so inexpensive that you could even gift them to someone in Thailand if you want to free up more luggage space for the return trip.
It'll be a lot more fun to have them. I did a lot of research on scuba fins that are packable in a carry-on and these are the best options. They'll still take up a lot of space but they'll fit and they're real professional quality fins, not swimming pool toys.

One alternative is to get hand webbing things. They'll be better than flutter kicking and take minimal space.
Also look into the Altama OTB shoes as an alternative to separate dive booties.
Maybe you should have a bit more try with the snorkel set. I Love my new snorkel mask! I snorkel every weekend and couldn't find a good-fitting mask that didn't leak. I went through at least six different masks in the past year only to be disappointed each time...until I bought this mask! I have been wearing this mask for a month with ZERO problems! No leaking! No water coming in through the snorkel or mask! It works perfectly!
We each got different pairs, I found some nice travel ones (Shorter) by US divers for $25, they work awesome! Its totally worth it to own your own set, they're much higher quality than rentals and save you money!
Here's a good looking set http://www.amazon.com/U-S-Divers-Admiral-Island-Snorkeling/dp/B00RTMCEEC/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1454360181&sr=8-7&keywords=swim+fins+us+divers
