I like to wait until I have at least 12 strong to claim my node rewards. The extra two tokens get swapped for ETH and usually cover my gas for claiming with a little extra left over.
To be honest, I'm actually not 100% sure. I went to metamask.io to download the Chrome extension, which I was told is the right site. It asked me for the seed phrase. Some are saying I was supposed to be asked for it, some are saying I wasn't. Anyway, the site appeared to be legit so I entered the phrase. I thought that since I'd never used Metamask on my computer that it was trying to authenticate the account. The next day the hacker drained my account.

You can secure a previously created MM seed with a ledger by importing the seed phrase to your device! Ledger does Support BSC but I’m not 100% sure on FTM, I believe it might be accessible in experimental mode via ledger live. Here’s a great tutorial video by Lex, that I used personally, to help guide you through the process of importing your MM seed phrase on to your ledger. Best of luck! MM SEED TO LEDGER TUTORIAL
