According to glosbe.com (a dictionary website I HIGHLY recommend for english <--> swahili translations) "kuodolea macho" means to stare, gaze, look at in the eye. Ie., "He looked me in the eye"; so that sentence I guess would mean, "This picture is looking me in the eye", probably implying the photo to be striking.
As for the translation of that sentence-- is that a song? I'm typically pretty good with translations but with songs... I get lost REAL easily.
This is the only online dictionary I use now because it's been the best for me personally. What I especially love about it is that it shows you the word in textual contexts so you can really determine if it's the right word you're looking for. Hope this helps!!
Good question! Me too, from Portugal I've been looking for literature but without luck. I ordered from online shop based in Kenya but the fees to Europe are too much and had to pay extra to Customs when it got here.
You could start by the app Ushauri wa Mwanagenzi , recommended to me by a Kenyan correspondent. It has poems from "amateurs", it's all in Swahili and you can sort the poems by several criteria.
You could try this too: Swahili stories from Arab sources, with an Engl. transl - free in several formats.
