Looking around I don't think the Extension Kit is available anymore. From what I can tell, it's been rolled into the Wireless Starter Kit? In which case that would seem to support either option.
Drayton TRV4's were recommended by my plumber - don't go with a cheap TRV... Amazon was the cheapest I could find at £25.90e - just keep the top bit for when you move.
