At just about one year post orchiectomy, my left testicle started to feel heavier and painful, almost identical to my right testicle before removal. I got an ultrasound and it was a varicocele, basically a build up of blood in the veins around the testicle. No appointment or treatment after the ultrasound, just went away slowly and isn’t painful anymore. Due to the way blood flows into the testicle(s), a varicocele is more common on the left side. Wearing supportive underwear (briefs, boxer briefs, etc) can help ease discomfort.
I’ve had pain on and off in various areas (incision, below the incision, opposite side same place as incision, remaining testicle) since my right testicle was removed. Overall, the pain has decreased and gone away as time has passed (1.5 yrs after orchiectomy).
I've posted that. u/mister_barfly75
> Contemporary Treatment Patterns and Outcomes for Clinical Stage IS Testicular Cancer RE: adjuvant therapy (course of BEP) or not?
With adjuvant therapy they mean BEP chemo (1 or more rounds) after orchi.
Yeah man, I had a nephrostomy tube for 6 months for the same reason. It sucks having a tube tethered to you all the time. I recommend checking Amazon for some nephrostomy boxers, something like these:
The velcro strap they give you is a pain. I typically just threw the bag in my shorts pocket lol But for times you want to be more discreet the boxers help.
It’s an adjustment but you’ll be over with it soon. Best of luck through your treatment!

Okay so I found this drink called Entrade that I will link below that I believe has potentially helped me as far as nausea and other negative side effects. Now I started with their vanilla flavor and moved to their watermelon flavor and I don't know which one is better. You will drink and and be like it's not the worst thing but it's not good either. I've used this drink from the beginning so I don't know how different things would be without it.... HOWEVER, For this last week of chemo I am not planning to use it. I will say again that taste isn't the worst thing but I'm just simply over it, I stopped drinking it halfway through my 3rd long week because I nearly puked from the taste and I tossed my bottle away and the thought of having one now still makes my stomach upset but I do feel like it helped and maybe I'll get the courage to try it but as of right now I don't think I can lol.
The prescribed me anti-nausea medication as well 2 of them and one of them goes under the tongue to dissolve, I've used the dissolvable one twice and that's it one time was from the first week and eating too heavy and the second time was again I ate a little too heavy. Outside of that I've not needed them although on amazon you can find a lot of alternatives for nausea just poke around the reviews you'll see what works!

I was just looking this up on Wikipedia to figure out the different between I/O and a radical orchiectomy (because we all know that’s a great source of medical knowledge) when I came across something that might be relevant:
Complications from this procedure include bleeding and infection. The ilioinguinal nerve which runs anterior to the spermatic cord may be damaged during the operation and cause numbness over the inner thigh or chronic groin and scrotal pain. Other symptoms also include intermittent and chronic back pain and sudden loss of mobility in the lower back.

I also got one of those seatbelt cover pillows to put around his lap..
And then a few other things new beanie, (since he’s still bald from the chemo and gets cold), a blanket, new sweatshirt and a few other joke gifts to cheer him up! Hopefully these pillows will do the trick!

Go on here and calibrate it.. and then pick the sound you prefer the most.
It will play it at a tune that seems to cancel out the tinnitus. It is the only thing that helps me sleep.
eg (extensive) metastatic disease. worst worst worst case, they start the patient on BEP or VIP or else (see Guidelines) and patients metastises start to bleed uncontrollably.
I took this and my doctors didn’t know how it was possible. It’s only a suggestion but I had more volume and more active 2 months out.

A comfy cloth coldpack can help with pain, especially during the first few days. Something like this one can be chilled in the freezer or microwaved to act as a heating pad, so it would be useful beyond this recovery too.

As someone that tends to sleep on their side, my first week after the op was a royal pain in the arse, until my Mrs surprised me with a gift that has to be, hands down, the most useful thing anyone has got me to date.
I'm a right grumpy git when I don't get a decent nights sleep, but this has stopped me waking up multiple times a night as I try to roll over, and its very comfy for the sofa too!
I almost forgot to add - this lap top table has been a game changer if you work from home, have dogs or small children. It’s functional and protects the area from accidental strikes.
There is a testosterone one also I would try that.

Will all of my drugs be going through my Central Line? Or am I going to also have an IV in my arm? Generally speaking, of course.
I've seen the Port Shirts on amazon Is this something that I should buy before going in? I don't enjoy being shirtless, and I'm not a fan of hospital gowns.
I have a couple button up shirt sleeve shirts, but not many.
Or are you able to wear normal clothing with the IV therapy?
Seems like a really stupid thing for me to be thinking about... Clothing while I'm there. I keep trying to "prepare" for this. Reading everyone's experiences, researching what cancer even is, the treatments, everything.
I feel like I'm just losing control of life and i can't decide if I'm furious, or scared.
