Here is one that has little points and excerpts from the book at certain geographical locations - http://www.cannonade.net/mars.php#map
Here is a bing interactive map that kind of does the same as above but looks a little better - https://www.bing.com/themartian#
My personal opinion is human pilots won't really help much, computers are far better at this stuff https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/76866912/
I imagine Martinez just assisted and supervised the landing process. Kind of what launch control does while the launch sequence is fully automatic.
I don't see it legitimately free anywhere, but it's for sell or rent at a lot of sites. Youtube, Amazon, Google Play, Vudu, iTunes, etc.
I would pick Youtube since I have an android phone and use money they pay me via the Rewards app to pay for movies, tv shows, and games.

I first thought, well that has to be Patton or some general from WW2, but then I discovered it was Helmuth von Moltke, a Prussian field marshal.
I absolutely wanted to buy it before the movie was out, and living in France means not too many english books on Amazon. So it was this cover or this one. Easy pick.
If you want a set of patches from the movie go to Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B015L1QX76?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00 Not sure how license accurate it is. There are two options Mark Watney, Melissa Lewis patches.
As far as first-person narrative humor in a near future setting goes: Do Not Resuscitate by Nicholas Ponticello. It is a humorous look at life, death and immortality in the near future. It is a semi-finalist in the 2015 Kindle Book Awards. Totally worth checking out. http://www.amazon.com/dp/099082473X
This first book in the series is called Steel World by BV Larson. It's actually nothing like The Martian except for the fact that it involves traveling to other planets. Took me about an hour to get into it but once I did I really enjoyed it. Pure SciFi type stuff.
Hi! This is the: "The Martian: Bring Him Home" https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.littlelabs.themartian&hl=en
An updated version of the game was released yesterday on Android which optimizes game play. It currently has a 3.5-4.0 star rating for all versions. Hopefully the new version will improve on that!
I've been doing Google Opinion Rewards for a few months now (answer questions for advertisers, get Google Play credits), and have a few bucks saved up.
Just picked this one up for $0.99. This is absolutely fascinating. The concept of being the only 'help' for a young student stranded on a planet is neat... but better is that the game plays out sort of in 'real time'. You give suggestions, and then he's 'busy' for a few hours doing whatever you suggested. Makes it feel very, very real.
Thank you for the suggestion, I'm looking forward to his next missive :)
