No, I don't alternate. I play beatsaber while pedaling for 50-60 minutes 5ish days a week for high intensity cardio. When the weather is better I kayak, bicycle outdoors and hike when I can, do the exercise bike for cardio when I cannot.
I have this bike: https://www.amazon.com/Body-Power-Trainer-Curve-Crank-Technology/dp/B07YBHVT35
Unlike a lot of cheaper bikes, resistance goes pretty high. Handlebars come out, so it's pretty easy to do VR on top of - no interference or anything to hit. It has been an excellent solution for me.
I just started using it last week, and have had no performance issues at all (on Quest 2).
And as for variety... Supernatural has a huge variety of songs
using long resistance bands like these worked for me
I would play a rhythm game or fitxr as a warm-up and switch to TOTF since that one is a little more intense.
I just got these as I broke one of my hand straps (not stock, the kind that slot inside the battery cover) playing Thrill of the Fight:
Absolutely love them. They replace the battery cover with a door that has two mounts for the strap. It puts the strap in exactly the right place to stay glued to your hand.
Huge fan of the Kiwi controller grips. These make them wear like the Valve knuckle controllers. Also gives easy access for battery replacement.

Not really your question, but I got some of these and pretty pleased with the result. The upside? No sweat makes it past the liner, period. Only downside, they sorta resemble panties and you’ll sorta look like you’re wearing said panties on your head when the headset isn’t on. Worth it.

Hi, this is the one I bought, https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08252X8VS. Its under $20. Just attach to one of the pedals. There are others as well but this is the one I use.
You can also put this sensor on a rower or elliptical.
I Bought the p.volve resistance bands a few months back to play Holopoint and other rogue like arrow shooting games. with the ressitance bands between the wrists it totally engages the back muscles in a 20 min game. tons of sweat.
There is a screenshot of it in the install instructions for quest once you sign up for an account. It's listed on amazon here: https://www.amazon.com/iGPSPORT-Candence-Compatible-Bluetooth-Wireless/dp/B073DWBQC7/
