Yeah, I definitely would not skim it as what you shared seems to follow other patterns of anxiety I've seen and experienced. Ask your therapist about trying alpha stimulation because it helps me relax immediately. An at home version of this is binaural stimulation. I use the app, Brain Waves - Binaural Beats, set the left frequency to 100 Hz and the right frequency to 109 Hz. Put in earbuds and set the timer for 20 minutes or multiples of 20 minutes.
This stuff is working for me because of cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness. I tend to use the Calm app for meditation. It emphasizes some Eastern philosophy which I don't care for, but I'll use the lovingkindness meditation and alter the words slightly (like from happiness to joy) so it falls in line with Biblical doctrine.
Talk with your pastoral counselor about this because he/she will have so many more resources available than me. But mindfulness has been a game-changer for me. I am hoping it can be a game-changer for you, too.
