This looks like the waist tape measures. You put the round end in the other end of the tape measure, it starts short to account for the plastic part…. Eh let me link a picture. Usually if you flip them over the other side is normal. waist tape
She also wrote Stitch 'n Bitch Nation. If you like that, it's a different author but you might like this DomiKNITrix: Whip Your Knitting Into Shape and/or this by yet another author AntiCraft: Knitting, Beading and Stitching for the Slightly Sinister

Because I don't have anywhere near enough, right? (that's about half the collection)
If you're on Ravelry, you can list items for sell or swap if you want to get rid of them and make a bit of extra cash or get cool new yarns to play with.
I LOVE my “fancy” yarns! This is the BEST swift ever! Breaks down easily and I store it in the box it came in. Stanwood Needlecraft Tabletop Amish Style Wooden Yarn Swift 2.5-6 feet https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B0067MMCD8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_9P3VM6ABAPTACXA7FVVX
I actually don't have a decent photo of it, but it's going to be a cardigan. Instagram 1, Instagram 2. What kind of project did you have in mind?
There's a little breakfront type of thing that the Noro is kept in (no idea how to describe it), the bottom has doors. I stick the stuff I want behind those doors to save them for myself. (ETA: ooh found a photo sort of on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/p/3e3mpGCxzG/)
The owner knows they're there, she also knows that some stuff I'm sticking there as a safety net to be sure I have enough yardage vs stuff I love but can't justify buying. She'll text me or otherwise reach out if there's someone else who wants it, but otherwise it just sits there and I take it out and periodically visit with it until I can bring it home and adopt it for good. I have two colors of Alegria that keep alternating, I want them both and I just can't decide which one I want more, and I especially can't justify it because I've had a skein of Alegria half worked up for the past few months.
Thank you! Congrats on your new winder! This is the one I got!

The swift is the amish swift from Amazon (Stanwood Needlecraft Tabletop Amish Style Wooden Yarn Swift, 2.5-6-Feet (YW-3) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0067MMCD8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_mezKCbT4W1WWF) and it's awesome. It comes apart for easier storage. I have the same one :)
There are some fabulous tutorials on YouTube for free.
Also, you can get inexpensive, but good, spindles with starter wool on Etsy.
A good book to use is Respect The Spindle
I haven't read this, but I read All the Single Ladies: Women and the rise of an independent nation - and it was fantastic!
I sure do! If it automatically links to white, the right color is on there, it's called Freshly pressed.
And I know what you mean. Love me some cotton yarn.
