From what I have researched, it can handle the AK. I've yet to find out but so far so good. It is a very nice scope and it provides a lot of accuracy.
There's always the DIY option. Nylon webbing and triglides are cheap.

Fits thru the front nicely and is really solid, although it is sorta shiny.
On the rear i wrap it around my triangle brace and hook it a leather loop it came with. Will probably end up cutting a hole through mine to get it to sit the way i want it though.
