I like the internet typewriter it has an excellent free version and I can log in anywhere. If you pay and it's not expensive it will open options for you to save to google drive Dropbox etc
I also use Google docs.
I have not the ten dollars for the desktop version, but I actually cannot seem to focus enough on the online version. The music is nice, since I’ve last tried it, but it just has such an uncreative mood to it that I just don’t feel like writing when I’m using it. A very lame excuse, but my excuse indeed. I enjoy looking at the default colors of Writer from BigHugeLabs. It makes me feel like a spy, and the typewriter sounds are so elegantly done. I love it.
Good luck with your NaNo!
There are a couple of writing programs that offer these distraction free environments, but I can't find any simple reader plugins. Readability comes close though.
I’m from the US, West Coast to be slightly less broad.
I have been writing since I was able to read and scribble things down on paper (around five or so). I don’t have anything published as of yet, but I am working on it.
I did participate in NaNo2012, and I won with an excess of 388 words. I then trashed what I wrote, in the sense of locking it up, and am starting anew with the same idea, just a better and more planned execution. It was definitely a nice kickstarter.
Oy. What programs don’t I use would be an easier question to answer. My favorite tool right now is Writer by BigHugeLabs. It’s simple, and it makes me feel like a spy because of the default colors, and that makes me want to write more. I also use MS Word, yWriter5, the oldschool pen and paper, and I recently downloaded Page Four during their free promotion, though I haven’t used it yet.
I scored 66WPMwpm on that test, which is fairly accurate. When I know what I’m typing and need to say, I actually type at a rate of ~80WPM, as much as 115WPM if I’m really in to it. Average is ~60WPM, though.
This might be a good option. It allows for copy/paste and backspacing, but still has the typewriter feel. When it's fullscreened, my music is off, and my lights are low, I do my best on-computer writing.
