Just install ublock origin. Anything that involves installing something or even contacting them is giving them data on you that they collect since that is their purpose.
And if you're a Win10 guy, lock down with something like Blackbird.
Hi, let me give some advice:
experimental_unfuckery.ps1
before running or enabling more settings in there. Is not dangerous but you may be disabling things that you need.Cheers
Something to keep in mind that nearly 50% of people are still using Windows 7 so your not the only one with sour taste in your mouth. Windows 10 has Alot of privacy issues luckly you can disable most of it with tools I personally use BlackBird. You also run the risk of everything being fucked up when moving to windows 10 so if your planing on moving over to windows 10 it would be a good idea to make a back up.
well, look it up if you've never heard of it...
OneDrive, Cortana, Bing integrations, AutoLoggers, Wi-Fi Sense, multiple telemetry services, ads in the start menu, Xbox Live services and other useless pre installed apps, tracking services, location/contacts/messages/handwritting/password sharing, ...
it also screwed many people with limited bandwidth caps by having buggy P2P update
disabling every unnecessary or privacy violating app is cumbersome and sometimes gets reverted by updates... the updates are working against the user!
there are dozens of apps dedicated to the task of cleaning windows of these bloatwares here's one I've heard good things about, this alone should be enough of an argument
Try Blackbird.
Besides that there's no tool that completely disables Cortana: they all leave the main Cortana process (SearchUI.exe) constantly running. The only option available is renaming the folder that contains Cortana just after closing its process. You can use this tiny script for that.
And yes, Windows will reenable/reinstall Cortana after every main update.
I have a better option here: http://www.getblackbird.net/
Disabled Cortana (and a LOT of other intrusive data collection settings) a few months ago, haven't had anything re-enabled after a couple of updates, and you can easily remove it if need be.
